--BELL--
Lucinda Lavender: I have been pretty busy and good...working a little ...gardening..weedeating...with a new device.
Lucinda Lavender: and you?
Paradise Tennant: hiya observerm nice to see you again .. will you sit with us :)
Paradise Tennant: a new gardening tool what could be more fun :)
Lucinda Lavender: :))
Lucinda Lavender: Hi Ewan:)
Ewan Bonham: Hi Folks...:)
Paradise Tennant: same here .. working very very hard but lucky I do really enjoy it :)
Paradise Tennant: hiya ewan gtsy :)
Lucinda Lavender: nice Paradise...
Lucinda Lavender: to like your work...
Ewan Bonham: We can be grateful for what we have..
Paradise Tennant: yes :)
Paradise Tennant: actually that is a great segue way ... I walk by a church on my way to work that has great sayings this week's was
Lucinda Lavender: One of the kids at school today ...at lunch was spinning his head around and when I asked him what he was doing he said he was a weed eater!
Paradise Tennant: Contentment comes not with great wealth but with few wants .. Epictetus
Paradise Tennant: lol
Paradise Tennant: smiles you know when you are kid, it can be just fun getting to press the elevator button :)
Lucinda Lavender: that is very true!
Lucinda Lavender: appreciate what you love?
Paradise Tennant: and love everything :)))
Lucinda Lavender: yes...
Paradise Tennant: there is a marvelous strength in indiscriminate love :)
Lucinda Lavender: what was interesting is that the boy said...I used my weed eater for the first time yesterday...which was true for me as well!
Paradise Tennant: wow
Lucinda Lavender: yeah...
Lucinda Lavender: odd little synch
Paradise Tennant: you were meant to have a weed eater ..clearly a cosmic alignment :)))
Lucinda Lavender: yes
Paradise Tennant: smiles a big smile
Lucinda Lavender: funny topic too
Lucinda Lavender: random
Lucinda Lavender: except that the weather here has been cool and rainy so we all have many over grown weeds
Paradise Tennant: hmm shall we talk of synchronicities :)
Lucinda Lavender: has anyone else had any lately?
Paradise Tennant: when you slow down a bit and really watch for them .. they can take your breath away :)
Paradise Tennant: I find it happens at work alot
Lucinda Lavender: really?
Paradise Tennant: I always seem to come across the exact information I need just when I really need
Paradise Tennant: like a carrier pigeon just drops into my computer :)
Lucinda Lavender: really...that is very helpful...
Lucinda Lavender: any dreams of note?
Paradise Tennant: hmm yes but they have been dissolving ..
Lucinda Lavender: I remembered one today...of getting my daughter to tell me what work she would have to do to graduate..
Paradise Tennant: smiles
Lucinda Lavender: and it would have been appropriate a year ago
Lucinda Lavender: maybe I am still finishing up my work as a mom
Paradise Tennant: smiles not sure that one ever really winds up :)
Lucinda Lavender: I know...but...perhaps there is some guilt
--BELL--
Paradise Tennant: my dad has passed and I sometimes still talk to him if I am facing something very difficult just a quiet little talk in my head ..like what would you do dad ?
Paradise Tennant: why guilt :) you are wonderful mom :)
Lucinda Lavender: well...I guess truthfully I see myself busy and not asking too many questions
Ewan Bonham: Hmmm..I see myself as being busy asking questions...:)
Lucinda Lavender: the effect after seeing the presentation at graduation was that I was out of touch with how amazing it all was...
Lucinda Lavender: ah Ewan...
Paradise Tennant: yes sometimes would be wonderful if a few times a day we could share .. a mind meld with others to better understand what they need from us
Lucinda Lavender: yes... Para
Lucinda Lavender: a moment of unity somehow
Paradise Tennant: you know you are the spark of that unity its passing creator :)
Ewan Bonham: Yes...but is it often not clear...they ask us to see them in a loving light..:)
Paradise Tennant: smiles we are back to indiscriminate love :)
Lucinda Lavender: Well...small change in plan here...am invited to go hear music so I must go...
Paradise Tennant: okies thanks for stopping by Lucinda :) enjoy :) the music :)
Lucinda Lavender: may you all experience the best ...
Ewan Bonham: Bye Lucinda
Lucinda Lavender: going to see The Warren G Hardings...never have...
Lucinda Lavender: will hope all are having a sweet dream tonight
Ewan Bonham: Hi Aphro..
Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Ewan
Aphrodite Macbain: GTSY
Aphrodite Macbain: Are we in a 90 sec pause?
Paradise Tennant: hiya aph :) gtsy :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Paradise.
Aphrodite Macbain: Seems Like it's been ages since I've seen either of you
Aphrodite Macbain: What have you been up to?
milakel Resident: hi ^^
Aphrodite Macbain: Mila
Paradise Tennant: hiya mila :)
milakel Resident: para, haven't seen you in a while :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Paradise - have you decided to go bald for the summer?
milakel Resident: or maybe sl decided for her :)
Paradise Tennant: lol I guess
Paradise Tennant: looks fine on my screen :)
Aphrodite Macbain: You're the second Avi I've seen who has shorn her locks
milakel Resident: you're all grey to me for example
Paradise Tennant: ahh well will try a rebake I guess :)
Aphrodite Macbain: You look lovely- just hairless
milakel Resident: I can perfectly see your lovely shoes though, para :)
Aphrodite Macbain: love the feathery dress
Ewan Bonham: Actually, I see you both very clearly...
Aphrodite Macbain: I guess seeing is subjective. :-)
milakel Resident: oh, this is odd. I see your hair behind your back, Para.
Aphrodite Macbain: or what you see is subjective
Paradise Tennant: smiles you never really know how you are going to appear in sl have had all sorts of odd things happen - worst is having an inverted torso .. or missing items of clothing ..
Paradise Tennant: yes exactly what we see is subjective
Aphrodite Macbain: today my screen moved around w/o my hands even touching the keyboard. A sl earthquake
Ewan Bonham: The good thing is...most folks understand...:)
milakel Resident: so true, para
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, no expectations..
--BELL--
Paradise Tennant: we could talk of expectations .. they are a full topic :)
milakel Resident: in regard to seeing differently, i like the example of color blindness. one can live with such condition whole life and never find out.
Aphrodite Macbain: Has anyone ever read "Blindness" by Samargo?
milakel Resident: yet the picture will be so different to them
Ewan Bonham: Yes, our minds have their perceptual perspectives...:)
Aphrodite Macbain: without the ability to see each other, would we treat each other differently?
milakel Resident: I haven't, aph
Paradise Tennant: smiles and listens
Aphrodite Macbain: or would be more finely tuned to other differences?
milakel Resident: re "blindness"
milakel Resident: aph, interesting... not sure how we could function without seeing each other
milakel Resident: but that would be a fun experiment
Aphrodite Macbain: They made a movie out of it
milakel Resident: oh?
milakel Resident: "blindness"?
Aphrodite Macbain: yes
milakel Resident: *goggles*
Aphrodite Macbain: only 1 person could see
Aphrodite Macbain: people were awful to each other. Civilization broke down
milakel Resident: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1050236/
milakel Resident: this one?
milakel Resident: hmm
Aphrodite Macbain: No...by Jose Saramago
Aphrodite Macbain: the book
Aphrodite Macbain: didn't see the movie
Aphrodite Macbain: maybe they called it something else
Aphrodite Macbain: It was really about human nature
Aphrodite Macbain: a very pessimistic view
milakel Resident: I suppose we'd enhance other senses like audio and tactile if we couldn't see
milakel Resident: so we would still try to "see"
Paradise Tennant: would not waste any time watching television :)
adding this link after the fact.. great book about a blind traveller in the 1800s and how he explored the world through his other senses..
http://www.amazon.com/Sense-World-Hi.../dp/0007161069
Aphrodite Macbain: perhaps we'd listen to music more
milakel Resident: got it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0861689/
Aphrodite Macbain: develop another part of our brain
Paradise Tennant: yes smell would be more important the sound of your voice .. we would focus less on stuff too I bet
Paradise Tennant: not such a great need for stuff .. so much of acquisition is being able to see the thing :)
Aphrodite Macbain: That's the movie!
milakel Resident: omg! what would designers do then?! :)
Aphrodite Macbain: yes - what would Marshall MacLuhan say?
Paradise Tennant: smiles clothes would be more comfortable :)
milakel Resident: no more fashion divas
Paradise Tennant: no car pollution
Paradise Tennant: smiles
milakel Resident: no heels? :)
Paradise Tennant: lol
Ewan Bonham: And the notion of style would be out of the picture...:)
Aphrodite Macbain: yes! warmer or cooler. perhaps in the summer we wouldn't wear any!
Paradise Tennant: definitely no heels
milakel Resident: :)
Aphrodite Macbain doesn't wear heels anyway
Paradise Tennant: we would probably spend an inordinate amount of time making sure we smelt and felt nice :))))
Aphrodite Macbain: no judgments based on appearance
Paradise Tennant: that our hair was soft to the touch
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, we would judge by touch and smell and sound
Paradise Tennant: could get to like that
Ewan Bonham: We may not see fit to judge at all...:)
Aphrodite Macbain: we would recognize people by their footsteps, their smell and their voice
Aphrodite Macbain: Ewan! Do you think not? Why?
Paradise Tennant: their presence when they come into a room
Paradise Tennant: been focusing on that trying to feel someone's presence
Aphrodite Macbain: 6th sense
Aphrodite Macbain: sense
milakel Resident: fragrance industry would thrive :)
Paradise Tennant: just slowing my senses down so that physical presence is something I can feel
Ewan Bonham: Yes...and it is one thing to recognize, another to judge...:)
Paradise Tennant: yes !
Paradise Tennant: less clutter about too I bet
Paradise Tennant: have to organize when you are blind
Aphrodite Macbain: I find my hearing becomes very sensitized. The slightest click or swish I would notice
milakel Resident: but imagine a step further - we don't have tactile sensation
--BELL--
Aphrodite Macbain: Yes, nothing to trip over or bump into. No mirrors, lights, windows except to let air in
Paradise Tennant: our lives would be lived in smaller circles but we may delve more deeply in being aware of what is there
Aphrodite Macbain: No second life
Paradise Tennant: oh no
Ewan Bonham: Thank you all...I must leave for rl..
milakel Resident: oh, now it sucks :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Bye
Aphrodite Macbain: Bye! Ewan
milakel Resident: ewan :)
Ewan Bonham: Appreciate the conversation...:)
Paradise Tennant: good nite ewan thank you for stopping by ;)
milakel Resident: qend :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Hello Qend
milakel Resident: I think a better alternative would be if we all looked the same
Paradise Tennant: smiles at milakel hmm
milakel Resident: like say a cloud in sl
Aphrodite Macbain: But that would be boring. We seem to need variety
Paradise Tennant: hiya Qend :)
milakel Resident: aph, voices would be :)
Paradise Tennant: have you been to pab before Qend ?
milakel Resident: this would be the world of inner beauty :)
milakel Resident: yes, para
milakel Resident: couple of times as i recall
Aphrodite Macbain: Yes
Qend Resident: hello!
Aphrodite Macbain: Are any of you going to perform in the PAB Performance on the 31st?
Paradise Tennant: like the sound of the phrase a world of inner beauty :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Qend
Paradise Tennant: hmm going to be in Montreal so will have to pass :)
Aphrodite Macbain: where did the phrase come from Para?
Paradise Tennant: I hear you are :) aph hope someone videos it :)
Qend Resident: Aphrodite!
Aphrodite Macbain: Me too
Aphrodite Macbain: Qend!!
Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
Aphrodite Macbain: Yo OK?
Aphrodite Macbain: You
Aphrodite Macbain: It's hot in Montréal
Aphrodite Macbain: in the high 30s
Paradise Tennant: yes same here :)
Paradise Tennant: been blistering :)
milakel Resident: I was thinking... as members of various social groups we want to relate to them and be similar, act in accordance, but at the same time there's a wish to differentiate, expressing our identity
Aphrodite Macbain: yes. we are tribal
Paradise Tennant: hmm I am reading a book called Embrace the Wide Sky by Daniel Tammet – will post the poem at the end the title comes from a lovely poem by Emily Dickenson.
milakel Resident: I wonder at what point a social group turns into a groupthink and loses variety
Aphrodite Macbain: as Mr. McLuhan said - a global village. And we all need to fit into one of those tribes in the village
Paradise Tennant: he says there is a part of our brains that sorts information into an I and they ..would be interesting if we could turn that off for a bit :)
Aphrodite Macbain: and look suspiciously at others who are different from us
Aphrodite Macbain: some Darwinian need to survive
Paradise Tennant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIDMCC2SJek
Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks Paradise
Paradise Tennant: if you could just forget that you are a you – and go back to infancy takes a while for babies to figure it out that they are a distinct from what is around them
Aphrodite Macbain: what a softly spoken person
milakel Resident: aph, it's so vivid when you ride a bus or subway :) new people that hop in are sort of outsiders. it takes a few stops for them to become a part of the bus circle :)
Qend Resident: how much should one focus on fixing up their home, investing in it, etc, and how much on the billions of other things to pay attention to?
Aphrodite Macbain: good question Qend. What do you think?
Aphrodite Macbain: Nice to know I'm like a savant
Qend Resident: I don't know, but I'm considering it related to the same with the "self" and hoping to gain understanding
Aphrodite Macbain: I guess we have to prioritize - what is essential, what is important, and what would be nice to have/do
Paradise Tennant: smiles .
Aphrodite Macbain: Perhaps we don't think of this very often
--BELL--
Aphrodite Macbain: but it is important to re-think our biases
Aphrodite Macbain: Dinner is calling.
Aphrodite Macbain: Nite all
Aphrodite Macbain: Bye
Aphrodite Macbain: Bye!
Qend Resident: I've been thinking a new idea for a few days, related to what was said here, does that make it appropriate to share it? is Life "asking" me, or even "okay" with it,
Paradise Tennant: smiles and listens
Paradise Tennant: nite nite aph
Qend Resident: it's interesting that you considered it a "Darwinian need to survive", can you explain what you mean more?
Paradise Tennant: smiles aph had to go .. not sure what she meant exactly :)
Qend Resident: when someone gets disturbed by another behaving weird, I believe our attention is turned to them with a perception prepared to look for faults -- and this is what we do. that mood and emotion establishes the mental state and framework ready for that perception
Paradise Tennant: smiles
Paradise Tennant: have never been able to figure out what is weird and what is not :)
Paradise Tennant: we were talking earlier of indiscriminate love .. and the strength of .. being open
Qend Resident: we don't merely avoid them, but give them MORE attention. in focusing on this I believe it is an inclination necessary for us to determine what is stable. why do people want to fit in? because it generally implies this "norm" is the stable way of living
Paradise Tennant: is there a stable way of living - a norm?
--BELL--
Qend Resident: brb, relog
Rasima Petrovic: hey there, can I join?
Paradise Tennant: hiya rasima :) have you been to pab before ?
Rasima Petrovic: yep
Qend Resident: Oh was I standing that whole time? I was on my mobile
Paradise Tennant: smiles :) of course you can :)
Rasima Petrovic: ^^ what's the topic?
milakel Resident: hi :)
Paradise Tennant: we have been jumping around a lot but I believe now it is trying to understand what constitutes stable living and is there such a thing as an norm :)
Rasima Petrovic: stable living like.. emotionally? economically?
Paradise Tennant: I guess more in terms of determining what is stable behaviour .. what constitutes .. a measured consistency in how you conduct your day to day life
Rasima Petrovic: well... for me, it's usually other people who can bring down stability.. so like to be polite and smile to people, to pacify them off the bat
Rasima Petrovic: it sets the stage for a polite interaction with them
Rasima Petrovic: hey there zaldaan
Rasima Petrovic: lol I guess this topic isnt very interesting
Paradise Tennant: hiya zaldaan :)
Qend Resident: sorry just busy here
Qend Resident: commotion
Paradise Tennant: smiles well what would you like to talk about rasima
Rasima Petrovic: oh I don't know..
Rasima Petrovic: fashion? =)
Rasima Petrovic: lmao
Zaldaan Sirnah: did I bring up stability?
Zaldaan Sirnah: I guess the Darwinian issue is relevant
Rasima Petrovic: we were talking about day-to-day stability
Paradise Tennant: smiles
Rasima Petrovic: and I was saying that being polite and smiling goes a long way to make people around you stable
--BELL--
milakel Resident: one rude and moody person can ruin it for everyone :)
Paradise Tennant: hmm
Rasima Petrovic: it can but I’ve dealt with people like that
Rasima Petrovic: you can make it work in your favor
Paradise Tennant: yes people have weather :)
Paradise Tennant: they are like little storm systems or .. clear skies .
Rasima Petrovic: yea
Paradise Tennant: was reading about a hypothesis that suggests we have different components to our brain or consciousness but there is one level we are all connected - “Jung “
Zaldaan Sirnah: can't one rude and moody person be practice for stability? :)
Rasima Petrovic: they can be yes
Paradise Tennant: lol that is odd the end of my sentence displayed ahead of the beginning :)
Paradise Tennant: maybe the end is the beginning :)
Rasima Petrovic: aah I need to get going.. seeya guys later!
Paradise Tennant: take care rasima thank you :)
Paradise Tennant: I should go too - very late here drawing towards midnight)
Paradise Tennant: thank you zaldaan .. milakel :)
Paradise Tennant: namaste :)
Paradise Tennant: and quend :)) very nice to meet you :)
