The Guardian for this meeting was Storm Nordwind. The comments are by Storm Nordwind.
Storm Nordwind: Hello Xirana. How are you?
Xirana Oximoxi: HI sTORM, GOOD THANK YOU, AND YOU?
Xirana Oximoxi: sorry for capital letters:)
Storm Nordwind smiles
Storm Nordwind: I'm fine thank you. :)
Old projects.
Xirana Oximoxi: have you designed something special lately?..like the flying toast?
Storm Nordwind: haha!
Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Storm Nordwind: Well there is a flying earth too now.
Storm Nordwind: That seats 24 passengers - hopefully
Storm Nordwind: A kind of bus
Xirana Oximoxi: oh! wonderful... throught the space?
Storm Nordwind: Just like the magic carpet and the flying toast bit for more passengers
Xirana Oximoxi: aha nice:) and have you flyed full passage ?? :)
Storm Nordwind: Not yet. Haven't got 24 people together in the same place yet!
Xirana Oximoxi: ahhh you must try!! organise something speciall to get the 24 waitng to fly:)))
Storm Nordwind: Oh I AM doing... ;-)
Xirana Oximoxi: hi Yaku:)
Yakuzza Lethecus: good morning
Yakuzza Lethecus: or afternoon
Saving surprises.
Storm Nordwind: But you'll need to wait a few weeks to see it ;)
Storm Nordwind: Hi Yaku
Storm Nordwind: (Hi is always appropriate at any time!)
Xirana Oximoxi: ok... I'll be like an impatient child:))
Alfred Kelberry: wuff!
Yakuzza Lethecus: i boxy
Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hi boxy!
Storm Nordwind: Mr. Boxy - welcome!
Alfred Kelberry: i yaku
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: Storm has a new surprise... but we have to wait:)
Alfred Kelberry: little circle today
Xirana Oximoxi: yes.. but nice:)
Alfred Kelberry: oh, a new building?
Storm Nordwind: yes and no - patience patience!
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Alfred Kelberry: when?!
Storm Nordwind: mid-June
Yakuzza Lethecus: hello susan
Storm Nordwind: Hi Susan :)
Alfred Kelberry: almost 2 months of patience :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hi Susan...waves:))
Storm Nordwind: hehe!
Alfred Kelberry: susan :)
iwandertoo Resident: waves...just have a few minutes
Xirana Oximoxi: that's a very good exercice... to learn to have patience:)
Storm Nordwind: We appreciate even rapid visits :)
Alfred Kelberry: take a sit on the lily pad, susan :)
Xirana Oximoxi: yes! that' way we can wish you nice day:)
iwandertoo Resident: :)
Questions about intelligence.
Storm Nordwind: Another project I was doing was a fun challenge - designing and building some critters to populate the waters of a coastal sim
Alfred Kelberry: oh, sounds like a prim project :)
Storm Nordwind: When you have to design AI (Artifical Intelligence) it makes you question what intelligence is!
Alfred Kelberry: and what is it?
Storm Nordwind: Ah... I said I questioned it. I didn't suggest I had any answers! ;))
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Alfred Kelberry: so, it hasn't answered yet
Xirana Oximoxi: :)... difficult question to answer, I suppose. And for people like me, that don't know nothing about, sometimes it sounds scarying...
Storm Nordwind: yes - I can sympathize with that
Will artificial intelligence take over?
Xirana Oximoxi: will us be in the hands of artificiell intelligence in the future?
Storm Nordwind: Difficult to say
Xirana Oximoxi: a little bit maybe we are yet... all the tools we use
Storm Nordwind nods
Xirana Oximoxi: the amazing possibilities of programms
Storm Nordwind: Bye Susan!
Alfred Kelberry: i hope so, xir. it's going to be fun.
iwandertoo Resident: waves...
Xirana Oximoxi: bye bye Susan.. take care:)
Alfred Kelberry: thanks, susan, for stopping by :)

Is intelligence just a set of rules?
Storm Nordwind: When programming these little beasts - and it's the programming that took all the time, not the prim building - it made me wonder whether sometimes what people call intelligence may just a set of adaptable rules that respond to the changing environment, and whose goal is simply survival and self-perpetuation.
Storm Nordwind: Anyway - like I said - I have no answers!
Alfred Kelberry: :)
What's the difference between human intelligence, animal intelligence and artificial intelligence?
Storm Nordwind: And another question would be: what is the difference, if any, between the intelligence of humans and the intelligence of other animals... and that of programmed animals? :)
Storm Nordwind looks over at the intelligent puppy ;)
Xirana Oximoxi: and what's the difference betwee human intelligence and artificial intelligence?
Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Storm Nordwind: The quick answer would be, one is programmed from outside and one is not... But is that true? How much are we the product of what we are taught?
Yakuzza Lethecus: what goes through mind is just ,,the easy things are hard and the hard things are easy" :P
Xirana Oximoxi: I think we are 'programmed' from outside too... but in the sense of haven't received all the knowledge of our ancestors
Xirana Oximoxi: sorry..Having received
Yakuzza Lethecus: There are so many distictions on intelligence, with fluent, and cristalline intelligence and alike
Yakuzza Lethecus: i wonder if there is something really universal
Xirana Oximoxi: (my English is getting worse everyday:))
Being vs. Intelligence?
Storm Nordwind: Hmm.. It leads me to ask whether what we call intelligence is sometimes really just "baggage" - stuff we can drop, when we "drop what we have to see what we are" - in PaB
Storm Nordwind: In other words, is Intelligence the same as Being? Or are they separate things?
Xirana Oximoxi: maybe we neeed some level of 'intelligence' to be aware of being
Storm Nordwind: Interesting Xirana
Alfred Kelberry: without intelligence you don't ask questions of being :)
Xirana Oximoxi: right.. another thing is if we know the answer
Xirana Oximoxi: of whats the sense of being
--BELL--
Artificial intelligence and emotions.
Xirana Oximoxi: do you think artificiel intelligence will be abke to get also emotional attitudes?
Xirana Oximoxi: able
Xirana Oximoxi: I'm thinking at the film 'Blade runner?
Xirana Oximoxi: have you seen it?
Storm Nordwind: How can you tell whether anyone or anything has emotion?
Xirana Oximoxi: usually we separate reason from emotions
Xirana Oximoxi: more realted to senses
Xirana Oximoxi: not to brain
Xirana Oximoxi: probably it's not possible to separate these two 'sides' of human beings...
Storm Nordwind: And perhaps they are not the only sides either. There is what people call "intuition" and "inspiration" - which don't seem to be "reason" but neither what most people would describe as emotion, even if they are also "irrational".
Alfred Kelberry: ai comparable to a human is a long way to go. you can't tackle emotions or abstract reasoning if current computers can't even recognise captchas.
Xirana Oximoxi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blade_Runner
Learning a new language.
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe, the ted video on using human computational ressources with captcha recognition to correct books was interesting
Yakuzza Lethecus: the one eos posted
Yakuzza Lethecus: http://tedxcmu.com/videos/luis-von-ahn
Storm Nordwind: I agree Yaku. I signed up for Duolingo immediately
Storm Nordwind: As did all the people I forwarded it to!
Xirana Oximoxi: I've also seen this video...really interesting:)
Alfred Kelberry: yes, maybe duolingo will help me to finally learn french :)
Xirana Oximoxi: :))
Storm Nordwind: But to return to AI... I could spin a story and project human emotions on to the animals I have created in SL, saying that they have a horror of falling of the earth, or that they get claustrophobic :) ... but all they are doing is choosing between five different behavioral algorithms according to where they find themselves.
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe, i should finally get into spanish again and of course another language which isn´t that popular :P
Alfred Kelberry: go for icelandic, yaku :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: well, a bit more popular one
--BELL--
Storm Nordwind: Icelandic is cool. Then you can read all the old Icelandic sagas. :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: Very old ones
Storm Nordwind: 1000 years old yes. But I'm living in a country now where "old" is just two lifetimes ago!
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Alfred Kelberry: those ancient 18 century houses :)
Storm Nordwind: More recent than that Boxy. The Civil War here is "old"... 1860s... but that's just two lifetimes end-to-end ago. And you can see photos from it!
Alfred notices Calvino's information box does not adapt to the flooring.
Alfred Kelberry: oh, stormy
Alfred Kelberry: the pab box needs to be fixed
Storm Nordwind: It's not mine
Yakuzza Lethecus: well, storm could lower the pagoda :P
Storm Nordwind laughs
Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: boxy, are you dogthed or ruthed ?
Storm Nordwind suspects his little paws are busy with an email ;)
The origin of Yaku's tag.
Xirana Oximoxi: Yaku..fun your 'group title ?I rez therefore I am :)))
Xirana Oximoxi: is it a group or it's you who have writen it?
Xirana Oximoxi: I go now... have a nice day all!!! see you soon:)
Storm Nordwind: You too !
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye xirana
Yakuzza Lethecus: for the log, the title is from an artists group where bleu took me
Storm Nordwind: Ah... !
Yakuzza Lethecus: wb boxy
Storm Nordwind: How was the group? Did you bring back anything else, or just the tag?
--BELL--
Yakuzza Lethecus: *cough*
Storm Nordwind saw a pic of that from Sunshine
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, she was also there
A moving story.
Alfred Kelberry: something you may like to read: http://penmachine-bu.appspot.com/www...st-postYakuzza Lethecus: that´s so sad and breathtaking what you posted alfred
Yakuzza Lethecus: in the end all what count´s is love
Storm Nordwind: If you would excuse me, I have an unexpectedly busy day ahead! :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: take care storm
Storm Nordwind: Bye for now!
