The Guardian for this meeting was Pema Pera. The comments are by Pema Pera.

    eggsalad Ormstein: hi pema

For the first quarter of an hour or so, I was alone, so I didn't look at the screen continuously.  When I noticed egg's greeting, I was alone again, with egg gone in the mean time, it seemed . . . something which also took me a while to find out :-)

    Pema Pera: hi eggsalad!
Pema Pera: interesting, I can't see you on my screen, nor do you appear on my minimap, nor on my radar . . . .
Pema Pera: do you have an invisibility cloak? (^_^)
    --BELL--

Then a too me new resident appeared

    Pema Pera: hi milakel!
    milakel Resident: sitting lonely? :)
Pema Pera: so far, yes :-)
Pema Pera: nice to meet you!
milakel Resident: not the most popular hour, i guess
    milakel Resident: thank you :)
Pema Pera: no, but a convenient time for me
Pema Pera: it's 5 pm in my time zone
    Pema Pera: and for you?
milakel Resident: about the same you could say :)
milakel Resident: the site went down today
Pema Pera: ah, I see that you entered SL rather recently
Pema Pera: a few weeks ago
    milakel Resident: um, yes :)
Pema Pera: how do you like SL so far?
milakel Resident: i've been here for a while though
    milakel Resident: i'm boxy's sister :)

    well, not altogether new :-)

    Pema Pera: hahaha
Pema Pera: the name reminds me of a previous incarnation of boxy . . . .
    Pema Pera: hi Rhiannon!
    milakel Resident: rhia :)
milakel Resident: nice of you to remember, pema
Pema Pera: that must have been three years ago!
Pema Pera: in the Kira Cafe
milakel Resident: yes, my first kira encounter
milakel Resident: it was a gorgeous looking tiger by the fire - 3d :)
    Pema Pera: :-)
milakel Resident: who wasn't hungry at the moment, so i was safe :)
    Pema Pera: (^_^)
milakel Resident: or so he said
Rhiannon Dragoone: Well fed tigers are the best kind
Rhiannon Dragoone: Especially if they're human. lol
milakel Resident: last i heard he's involved in opensim projects
Pema Pera: have you explored opensim?
milakel Resident: say hi from me if you see him, pema
Pema Pera: ah, can you remind me of the tiger's name?
milakel Resident: yes, played with it a bit
    milakel Resident: 3d - threedee (i think)
Pema Pera: ah yes, a lion
milakel Resident: ah, it was a lion
Pema Pera: yes, he was even earning money in opensim
Pema Pera: had a business there, I believe
    milakel Resident: neat
Rhiannon Dragoone: I've set up an account in one, but it was a desert lanscape much like SL at the beginning, so i haven't really checked any out
milakel Resident: how's mica's adventure in opensim?
Pema Pera: we haven't done much there yet
Pema Pera: we're actually looking a bit at OWL
    Pema Pera: Open Wonderland
milakel Resident: rhia, must be someone's test build :)
    milakel Resident: ah, yes
milakel Resident: description looks very impressive

we then started a new thread about time and how to divide our time over activities

Pema Pera: question is, everybody I know is very busy, and can't easily make time to try something completely new
Pema Pera: it would be best for a grad student, or undergrad
milakel Resident: a step farther into shared experience
Pema Pera: but they seem not to be interested much in virtual worlds
    Pema Pera: oddly enough
Pema Pera: they're all into facebook and twitter
Pema Pera: no patience for 3D it seems
milakel Resident: i think facebook and twitter are more a part of our lives now than "being into"
Pema Pera: aha, perhaps we could make a way to attend a session for just 90 seconds -- like a tweet!
Rhiannon Dragoone: Well, you can do that
Pema Pera: but like with one button
    Pema Pera: :-)
milakel Resident: right, + 90 sec to start and shutdown :)
    Pema Pera: hehehe
Pema Pera: like putting a periscope into SL
Pema Pera: coming up straight from the pond
Pema Pera: (we should tell observem!)
milakel Resident: speaking of twitter, i had an idea of a shared pab account for tweets from sl
    --BELL--
Pema Pera: how would that work?
milakel Resident: you type a message in sl and it appears as a tweet on the pab account, so those who follow it can see it too
Pema Pera: but you can't read the tweets in SL -- it is write only?
milakel Resident: i haven't thought out the details. not sure how useful it would be.
Pema Pera: I'd love to be involved in twitter, it's an interesting medium with unique ways of communicating, but I simply don't have the time
Pema Pera: I tried it for three weeks, and it took me at least 10 to 15 minutes a day -- which is unsustainable for me, unfortunately
milakel Resident: i don't buy the no time excuse :)
Pema Pera: well, you can say that it is not as high a priority as reading email
Pema Pera: which I simply have to do, I have no choice
Pema Pera: and for which I barely have time . . .
milakel Resident: i assume not many of your peers use it as well?
Pema Pera: also, I wish I could come into PaB sessions more often, as well as many many other things I'd love to do!
Pema Pera: oh, quite a few do
Pema Pera: talking about time, I have to be off for a dinner meeting :-)
    milakel Resident: hehe
milakel Resident: dinner meetings is nice
    milakel Resident: enjoy it
Pema Pera: good to see you both !
    Rhiannon Dragoone: tc Pema
    Pema Pera: bfn
Rhiannon Dragoone: Good to see you too
Rhiannon Dragoone: I guess I should be going to
