stevenaia Michinaga: hmmm I can;t seem to lower the fountain anymore, wonders if Storm disabled it
Eden Haiku: Are you writing 9/low in local chat Steve?
stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Eden Haiku: 9/low
stevenaia Michinaga: "/9low"
stevenaia Michinaga: nothing
Eden Haiku: Doesn't seem to work...
Eden Haiku: ah it's /9 space low I think, it did work now :-)
stevenaia Michinaga: there, I needed the correct tag
stevenaia Michinaga: or that
stevenaia Michinaga: no no space needed
Eden Haiku: Ah powerful Steve, giving us grass now!
Hokon Cazalet: Weeee! ^.^
stevenaia Michinaga: perfect for a holiday weekend
Eden Haiku: ;-))))
Eden Haiku: Yes!
Eden Haiku: Special plans Steve?
stevenaia Michinaga: a gathering of random friends for a cook-out on Monday
Eden Haiku: 4th of July celebrations right?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Hokon Cazalet: =)
Eden Haiku: What are you cooking?
stevenaia Michinaga: not sure if we will relocate to see the firework
stevenaia Michinaga: whatver we can grille or roast on the bbq, clams, chicken and vegitables
Eden Haiku: Hope you have a sunny day!
--BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: weatherman says... partly sunny and 87
Eden Haiku: 87!!! That's pretty hot. But you shovelled so much, you deserve the warmth!
Hokon Cazalet: =)
stevenaia Michinaga: that was a long time ago
Eden Haiku: ;-)
Eden Haiku: We arroived at our summer house yesterday
stevenaia Michinaga: anyone else have plans?
Eden Haiku: And I'm proud of myself
Eden Haiku: I reestabliushed the wireless connection in a snap yeah!!!
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, important thses days
Eden Haiku: Yes, I could connected with satellite with iPad but that was soooo slow,,,
Eden Haiku: *connect
Hokon Cazalet: aww
stevenaia Michinaga: seems they put limits on data w/ satellite connections (and you pay more for that)
Eden Haiku: So now, I can work all summer...;-))
stevenaia Michinaga: lol
stevenaia Michinaga: is that a good thing?
Eden Haiku: Yes, but don't worry, I plan to rest a lot too ;-)
Eden Haiku: Fisrt time I see you in this dress Steve, it's lovely!
Hokon Cazalet: yup it is =)
stevenaia Michinaga: I have many dresses now, even have a shopping consultant :)
Hokon Cazalet: hehe
Hokon Cazalet: im gonna go nap, im feeling woozy
Eden Haiku: A shopping consultant? Wow!
Hokon Cazalet: i hope you two have a good evening =)
Eden Haiku: By Hokon, nice meeting you ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: Well, it;s jsut a friend with far bettertaste than I ahve
Hokon Cazalet: Weeee! ^.^
stevenaia Michinaga: bye Hokon
Hokon departs
Eden Haiku: I started coming to SL on this laptop, on this very kitchen table where I'm sitting now ;-)
Eden Haiku: Brings back memories ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: oh, of what?
Eden Haiku: Of my first time in Second Life. A rainy night of July 2009...
Eden Haiku: I was so awkward...but fascinated.
stevenaia Michinaga: wow, what brought you here?
stevenaia Michinaga: I heard a story about it on the radio in 2006 and never left
Eden Haiku: A newspaper article I had read about 2 years before...
stevenaia Michinaga: left behind other internet "chat rooms"
Eden Haiku: My old computer couldn't access
Eden Haiku: But that rainy summer I ordered a new computer online and received it by UPS in my country house.
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, my spouses didn't have the graphics to access SL (as a backup)
Eden Haiku: So I wondered what I could do to play with it (i had eneough work already!)
Eden Haiku: I came in as Rrose first, my twin sister.
--BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: This is my third avatar in SL, all w/ the same name
stevenaia Michinaga: it;s nice to have flexibility
Eden Haiku: Ah!
Eden Haiku: I thought you had to create another avatar when you used another computer ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: not if you use the same coount, just change form
stevenaia Michinaga: account
stevenaia Michinaga: the RL me hasn;t changed
stevenaia Michinaga: ...much
Eden Haiku: Yes, I realized that later. Now I'm coming as Eden on the same laptop I created Rrose.
stevenaia Michinaga: you can sign on with your account from anyone's computer
stevenaia Michinaga: so you can never loose yourself or need another avatar or alt if you don;t wnat
Eden Haiku: Yes, on my desktop I can log in 2 differen
Eden Haiku: 2 alternates on 2 different viewers
Eden Haiku: I have 2 alternates: Rrose and Wilfred. We are triplets ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: actually , when I switched from viewer 2 to Phoenix, It change my avatar back to woman, so I jsut adapted her to me
Eden Haiku: smiles
stevenaia Michinaga: or me to her, not sure which
Eden Haiku: identities...
Eden Haiku: Wilfrid was the name of one of my grandfathers ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: just aspects of the same identity
stevenaia Michinaga: aww, that's nice
Eden Haiku: Yes, figments of the same identity...
stevenaia Michinaga: some people spend the time to be something else in another form, I prefer lazyness
Eden Haiku: French poet Arthur Rimbaud wrote: "je est un autre".
Eden Haiku: I am another one ...
Eden Haiku: I prefer simplicity too ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: even changing a dress is a labor to me, so many parts
Eden Haiku: You like pretty dresses, not easy to put on!
stevenaia Michinaga: my first fem avatar was more of a tomboy, then... I found dresses
Eden Haiku: Ah dresses! Great dresses in SL!
Eden Haiku: Now sitting in front of fireplace. That's a good point about laptops.
stevenaia Michinaga: I never realized, I think I discovered the appreciation for dressed when I also discovered my appeciation of poetry
Eden Haiku: How so STeve?
stevenaia Michinaga: both are recent, both are wrapers around deeper meaning and beauty
stevenaia Michinaga: both can be subtle
Eden Haiku: Ah, new interests you developed through SL?
stevenaia Michinaga: smiles, yes
Eden Haiku: Ah nice;-)
--BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: spouse won't let me wear her dresses
Eden Haiku: hehe
stevenaia Michinaga: do you cange clothes often here?
stevenaia Michinaga: *change
Eden Haiku: I do, but I think I have been wearing this pale pink linen outfit since Monday...
Eden Haiku: I would never do that in RL...
stevenaia Michinaga: lol
Eden Haiku: I was sleeping my beautu sleep in the computer, so my outfit is still fresh :_)
stevenaia Michinaga: do avatars sleep?
Eden Haiku: Mine does!
stevenaia Michinaga: I do have jammies, but they are mainly for parties
Eden Haiku: First time I arrived in SL I was very concerned with "where is she going to sleep"?
stevenaia Michinaga: I found a friend couch and slept there
Eden Haiku: A nice Infi Island lady helped me stay in some University dormitory for the first week ;-)
Eden Haiku: Ah, you knew people here?
Eden Haiku: I have a few nice jammies and slippers ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: no, it took a month or so of exploring, and inviting friends to SL who made houses, something I never have done, cept the tent I currently ahve
Eden Haiku: Ah yes, I remember seeing you coming from that tent in my first sessions here, a green one right?
stevenaia Michinaga: nods
stevenaia Michinaga: that was a nice gift from a friend
stevenaia Michinaga: as was everything I own, excpet the dresses whych were purchased with funds gifted to em
Eden Haiku: My Japanese tea house was a gift also: I love going back there when I leave SL...
stevenaia Michinaga: people are very generous in SL
stevenaia Michinaga: Rl tea house?
Eden Haiku: You must be a generous person too Steve ;-)
Eden Haiku: No no SL...
Eden Haiku: Swiss style summer house in RL. Not gifted: we are renting ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: " I love going back there when I leave SL..." how can you leave SL and go to an SL tea house?
Eden Haiku: Same place for 9 years now
stevenaia Michinaga: your summer place
stevenaia Michinaga: ice
stevenaia Michinaga: nice
Eden Haiku: No, I mean when I know I'm going to log out, I go back home, put my avatar to sleep, and log out!
Eden Haiku: Funny to see how the cat settles back to her summer habits: following me on the path in the morning, following us on our night walks...
stevenaia Michinaga: awww, I ahve ly ogin set to begin at "home" so it;s automatic... if your tea house is set to your hoem
Eden Haiku: She might think she's a dog ;-))
stevenaia Michinaga: cats are funt to take walks with, they love to lead
Eden Haiku: Yes, my tea house is set as my home ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: you can set your log in to begin at home
Eden Haiku: And she runs like a rabbit!
Eden Haiku: I always begin at home too yes ;-)
Eden Haiku: Except today, I found myself in Bleu's sun house (where I was last time).
Eden Haiku: That's why I didn't change clothes I guess...
stevenaia Michinaga: I used to begin where I left and often arrived in an embarrising situation
Eden Haiku: hehe
Eden Haiku: I better go now. My boyfriend is out of the shower,
--BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: ok, night
Eden Haiku: we are going to the farmer's market early tomorrow
stevenaia Michinaga: enjoy :)
Eden Haiku: It wa snice chatting with you Steve, thank you. have a great 4th of Jul;y celebration and holiday!
stevenaia Michinaga: you too
Eden Haiku: Bye for now...
Eden departs , Rasima arrives
stevenaia Michinaga: hello Rasima
Rasima Petrovic: hello!
stevenaia Michinaga: have you been here before?
Rasima Petrovic: yes, last night
stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: so you ok w/ being recorded?
Rasima Petrovic: sure
stevenaia Michinaga: smiles
stevenaia Michinaga: thanks for coming back, the other visitor just left so the topic is open
Rasima Petrovic: ah okays
Rasima Petrovic: what was the topic?
stevenaia Michinaga: we were talking about identities, what we cloth ourseves in, etc
stevenaia Michinaga: we had known each other for a few years and a few forms
Rasima Petrovic: oh I see... our AVs or our RL selves? or us in general?
stevenaia Michinaga: we were speaking in terms of SL avatars in particular
stevenaia Michinaga: have you had diferent avatars or alys
stevenaia Michinaga: ?
stevenaia Michinaga: alts?
Rasima Petrovic: yes
Rasima Petrovic: always for a different task.. like I have a builder alt
Rasima Petrovic: and i used to have a vendor alt
stevenaia Michinaga: were you still RL you, or did you change to suit the avatar
Rasima Petrovic: well thats kind of a loaded question
Rasima Petrovic: because even your "RL you", you don't act the same way at work as you do with friends
Rasima Petrovic: so your AV reflects that
Rasima Petrovic: like my vendor alt is very professional looking
stevenaia Michinaga: :) dressed for work?"
stevenaia Michinaga: hi Paradise
Rasima Petrovic: yep! basically =)
stevenaia Michinaga: so is it clother that change or everything about your avatar
Rasima Petrovic: she wears nice suits and stuff. I wear that stuff on my main too but like, it's different
Paradise Tennant: smiles hiya stev .. rasima
Rasima Petrovic: hey paradise
Rasima Petrovic: well its a different everything. she had to be appealing to a certain market crowd
stevenaia Michinaga: not sure much of me changes , but I can see that I might dress differently for an SL job interview
Rasima Petrovic: for customer service and stuff
Rasima Petrovic: people act different in different sitautions
Rasima Petrovic: it's still "you".. it's just "me at work" and "me with one group of friends"
Rasima Petrovic: even when I'm at school I'm a little bit different than when I'm at work
stevenaia Michinaga: you mean in RL?
Rasima Petrovic: yes
Rasima Petrovic: also for SL... say you go to a formal ball or something with strangers.. you'd act a little differently
--BELL--
Rasima Petrovic: how about you?
Rasima Petrovic: do you do notice that?
stevenaia Michinaga: hmmm, I may dress differently, but not act different;y
Rasima Petrovic: feel free to join in paradise
Rasima Petrovic: do you act the same way around little children as you do with your casual adult friends?
stevenaia Michinaga: depends, most of my friends act like children
Rasima Petrovic: LOL XD
stevenaia Michinaga: but probably not
stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Rasima Petrovic: well when you're around children, adults always try to put on their best impression
stevenaia Michinaga: I certainly feel different in different dresses
Rasima Petrovic: oh yeah me too
Rasima Petrovic: you're treated different, and you act differently a little
Rasima Petrovic: thats the magic of clothing ^^
Paradise Tennant: smiles :)
stevenaia Michinaga: I generally don;t try to impress, it;s more entertaining watching others try
Paradise Tennant: you are always impressive stev
stevenaia Michinaga: giggles
Rasima Petrovic: lol =)
stevenaia Michinaga: it;s the dess you helped me choose, PAradise
stevenaia Michinaga: *dress
Paradise Tennant: smiles
Rasima Petrovic: it's a nice dress. very fae!
Rasima Petrovic: it's a nice dress
stevenaia Michinaga: it does have a life of its own
Rasima Petrovic: acting differently doesnt always mean to impress... I'm a teacher, so I have to act like one
Paradise Tennant: fae is a good work dor it
Paradise Tennant: *word
Rasima Petrovic: yeah =)
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, like "Play as Being" our group... we Play as if we know... and learn from that
Paradise Tennant: smiles going to excuse myself .. thank you rasima stev :)
Rasima Petrovic: see you!
stevenaia Michinaga: bye paradise
Paradise Tennant: nite nite you two :)
Rasima Petrovic: night!
Rasima Petrovic: i think its interesting to see how people conform to dress codes
Rasima Petrovic: especially if there's a uniform
Rasima Petrovic: you can really see an aspect of people's personalities there
Rasima Petrovic: like, if their clothes are always neatly pressed and shoes shined
Rasima Petrovic: or if they're really crumpled and smelly.... or how they wear the clothes
stevenaia Michinaga: my spouse went to a catholic school for high school, all uniforms, the diferntating aspect of each person was how smart they were, not their looks or jewlery, said it was very liberating
Rasima Petrovic: yes. the "subtle" differences are what you notice the most in places like that though
stevenaia Michinaga: do you teach a grade or college?
Rasima Petrovic: high school
stevenaia Michinaga: if you don;t mind me asking
stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: must be quite a challenge
Rasima Petrovic: yep! well, the school year is over here for now
stevenaia Michinaga: as all good jobs are
Rasima Petrovic: anway steve, I needa head out!
stevenaia Michinaga: ok, I have places to go too, thanks for coming
Rasima Petrovic: see ya!
stevenaia Michinaga: nice meeting you
