The Guardian for this meeting was Storm Nordwind. The comments are by Storm Nordwind. The title refers to Bleu's feathers avatar and the duststorm she had recently endured.
Poor sleep and melatonin.
Storm Nordwind: Hello Dash
--BELL--
Dash Earthboy: hey y'all :)
Dash Earthboy: 's up?
Storm Nordwind: I'm fine thank you. And you?
Dash Earthboy: i'll let you know when I wake up :)
Storm Nordwind: Perhaps the second cup of coffee needs to kick in first :)
Dash Earthboy: i was dog-tired like Wol yesterday up to 9 PM
Dash Earthboy: then I had trouble getting to sleep at bedtime
Dash Earthboy: not a good sleep cycle :(
Storm Nordwind: I agree. Many ideas buzzing through the brain?
Dash Earthboy: not really, just got the energy I'd needed all day :(
Dash Earthboy: i think it has something to do with melatonin or seratonin?
Storm Nordwind: Ah... a little like jet-lag... but without any of the fun of travelling :-/
Dash Earthboy: yah
Dash Earthboy: so i didn't get out before the sun to pack the trunk this morning
Dash Earthboy: hey Eliza :)
Storm Nordwind: I once tried melatonin on a business trip to Japan. It worked but I didn't do it again.
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: Morning Everyone :)
Dash Earthboy: sounds good Storm
Storm Nordwind: And it only works when flying east, not west
Dash Earthboy: i also avoid chemical/supplemental assistants as a rule
Dash Earthboy: interesting?
Storm Nordwind: east is least, west is best (when travelling)
Dash Earthboy: doesn't work when traveling west?
Storm Nordwind: It doesn't seem to. And it's easier to stay awake longer than go to sleep earlier. That's what you need the melatonin for, to be able to sleep earlier.
Dash Earthboy: yah
Storm Nordwind: The topic today Eliza - if there is one - seems to be tiredness and overcoming it! ;)
Dash Earthboy: heheh
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Enjoying tiredness?
Eliza Madrigal: How about enjoying it?
Dash Earthboy: i enjoy it when it doesn't interfere with my productivity :)
Storm Nordwind: That's always an option. Though when others expect things of you, they may not see it like that!
Eliza Madrigal: my sleepy self is probably more likeable than my full on perky self, hah
Dash Earthboy: :)
Storm Nordwind disagrees. He likes both! :))
Eliza Madrigal: maybe a better listener for instance :)
Eliza Madrigal: (((Storm))))
Enjoying the rain.
Eliza Madrigal: today it is raining and I'm sort of enjoying the way it slows me down
Dash Earthboy: *Dash hasn't been a "morning person" since he left his farm
Eliza Madrigal: I'm working 'better' I think... more fluidly
Storm Nordwind: When it rained every day in Scotland, I didn't enjoy it as much as I do now.
Eliza Madrigal: ah, you like I, had a long dry spell this year didn't you, Storm?
Storm Nordwind: 6 months with no rain. Then it rained for 3 weeks :)
Eliza Madrigal: 6 months, terrible... similar here but not quite
Enjoying the break.
Storm Nordwind: We have a break coming. Let's enjoy what we have if we can!
Eliza Madrigal: :) happily
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: Hi everybody
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Riddle :))
Riddle Sideways: sorry, did not notice the fountain
Storm Nordwind: Howdy Riddle - welcome!
Dash Earthboy: hey Riddle
Storm Nordwind: Interesting - in deliberately enjoying what was there during the break, I became more aware of how much there was to enjoy - expanded awareness.
Riddle Sideways: was mostly in the mood too
Eliza Madrigal: mmm
Eliza Madrigal: found myself really deeply listening to the bell
Eliza Madrigal: and how long the tail of it was
Dash Earthboy: hey Bleu
Bleu Oleander: hi everyone :)
Recycling day.
Riddle Sideways: thursday is one of the highlights of the week. Garbage and recycling day
Eliza Madrigal: Hellow Bleu in new wonderful form
Riddle Sideways: Hi Blu
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Bleu!
Dash Earthboy: good plan Riddle :)
Storm Nordwind: Ah we are lucky to have your time Riddle - I know how much you enjoy the "promise of renewal" recycling brings!
Eliza Madrigal: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: celebration of change
Dash Earthboy: unless we wish to pay hefty fees to commercial haulers, we take our trash to dumpster sites here
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Yaku :)
Dash Earthboy: they have various recycling ones too
Storm Nordwind: Hi there Yaku
Yakuzza Lethecus: good morning everyone
Dash Earthboy: hey Yaku
Bleu Oleander: hey Yaku
Dash Earthboy: so Thursdays are great for avoiding the crowds there :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Riddle Sideways: got up early and really enjoyed the great outdoors
Riddle Sideways: Hi Yak
Haboob.
Storm Nordwind: This morning our topics are fragmented so far. We have 'overcoming tiredness', 'enjoying the moment' and 'recycling' :)
Bleu Oleander: we are still cleaning up after the BIG dust storm :)
Storm Nordwind: Not that that's bad - just updating our new arrivals!
Storm Nordwind: Ah the haboob
Storm Nordwind: Were you affected?
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, yes Bleu... what does that entail? looks incredible
Bleu Oleander: yes!
Bleu Oleander: dirt everywhere!
Eliza Madrigal: ack
Storm Nordwind saw the clips and was amazed
Bleu Oleander: freightening to see the wall coming at you
Eliza Madrigal: had never thought of such a thing happening in the US... ever experienced that before? on any scale?
Eliza Madrigal: modern US I should say
Bleu Oleander: the biggest one in a long time
Storm Nordwind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4whKzjoq7Uc
Yakuzza Lethecus: even my boss came from lunch yesterday and mentioned the sandstorm in phoenix and he seldom talks when he comes back
Bleu Oleander: :)
Riddle Sideways: the Arizona Monson season? an odd phrase
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Susan!
Yakuzza Lethecus: morning susan
Bleu Oleander: hi Susan
iwandertoo Resident: (sorry) morning...
Dash Earthboy: hey Susan
Riddle Sideways: morning susan
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Susan :)
iwandertoo Resident: (can stay only a few mins)
Eliza Madrigal: (nice to see you for a moment)
Storm Nordwind: (You're always welcome!)
iwandertoo Resident: :)
Riddle Sideways: Dust storms seem so like great depression days
Storm Nordwind: Did you get any warning of the haboob? Or did it just suddenly happen?
milakel Resident: hi :)
Dash Earthboy: hey mila
Storm Nordwind: Hi Mila
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Mila :)
Bleu Oleander: apparently there was some warning
milakel Resident: oh, bleu's showing her magic :)
Eliza Madrigal: but not in SL? hehe
Riddle Sideways: morning Mila
Bleu Oleander: but we hadn't heard anything
Bleu Oleander: hi Mila :)
milakel Resident: wondeful, bleu!
Bleu Oleander: ty!
Another break...
Storm Nordwind: Another break coming up. Last time we just enjoyed what we had at that moment. :)
milakel Resident: bleu, i like your profile's pic, too :)
--BELL--
Bleu Oleander: ty Mila :)
milakel Resident: *enjoys oatmeal*
iwandertoo Resident: (waves)
Storm Nordwind waves
Riddle Sideways: easy... really enjoys this latte
Storm Nordwind: :) !
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: rain is lightly pitter pattering now
milakel Resident: mm, i like latte
Hummingbirds, dragonflies ... and flip-flops.
Storm Nordwind enjoyed the passing thought of the dragonfly that landed and stayed on his screen window yesterday evening.
milakel Resident: eliza, that's why you're wearing flip flops - walking in the rain :)
milakel Resident: storm :)
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Bleu Oleander: could use some rain!
Riddle Sideways: such great dragons and flys
Dash Earthboy: *hasn't seen a hummingbird yet this year while flowers are more plentiful
milakel Resident: dragonflies are rather icky
Eliza Madrigal: wouldn't you then have mud, Bleu?
Storm Nordwind: They're really sponges not flip-flops. They're to soak up the puddles.
Eliza Madrigal: hehe
Bleu Oleander: need lots of rain hehe
Dash Earthboy: have seen many dragonflies tho :)
Eliza Madrigal loves dragonflies
milakel Resident: :)
Mudding.
Riddle Sideways: so arizona has a monson season
Bleu Oleander: a little would make mud and did
Riddle Sideways: and it is dust storms
Dash Earthboy: and fireflies :)
Dash Earthboy: i remember mudding around phoenix :)
Riddle Sideways writes another todo research project
Dash Earthboy: 4WD pickups
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Bleu Oleander: not officially monsoon season yet
Eliza Madrigal: Is there a way to splash in SL?
Storm Nordwind: Sure. Try wading in the lake next to your guardian plot!
Eliza Madrigal: well I hear it...
Riddle Sideways: the SL sound when ya step into the river over there
Storm Nordwind: I see the ripples too
milakel Resident: dash?! you do mud racing? :)
Eliza Madrigal: ok will pay more attention now!
Storm Nordwind: Walk backwards and you will see :)
Dash Earthboy: no just had fun mudding w/friends :)
milakel Resident: :)
Eliza Madrigal: I would like to have a bucket of water to throw at people, or a mop animation, heh.. could reenact cleaning up after sand storm ;-)
Riddle Sideways: mudding does not equal mud wrestling
milakel Resident: i've seen a mop animation
Dash Earthboy: :) @ Riddle
Mila's mesh mania!
milakel Resident: i'm excited about mesh coming to sl in v3
Dash Earthboy: *doesn't want to get "pinned" by a 4WD pickup :)
milakel Resident: i wonder what content creators will come up with
Riddle Sideways: hmmm, thought some of mesh was already here
Storm Nordwind: Explain mesh to us please Mila. Is it just something that allows offline building?
Bleu Oleander: need a mesh workshop!
milakel Resident: i don't know the detail myself, but it should allow more realistic forms
milakel Resident: e.g. better feet :)
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Bleu Oleander: I think you build offline and import to sl?
Storm Nordwind: I wonder if there will be a trade-off as there is with sculpties, in that greater realism will mean much slower rez times
Eliza Madrigal: realism - slogging through more time?
Bleu Oleander: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh..._a_simple_mesh
milakel Resident: storm, possibly. i assume one could build an inefficient mesh and it will be slow.
milakel Resident: just like we have it with textures and scripts
Storm Nordwind: And what viewers will be able to resolve meshes?
milakel Resident: v3 :)
Bleu Oleander: hehe
Yakuzza Lethecus: aren´t nearly all viewers mod´s of the original sl viewers anyway ?
Yakuzza Lethecus: or will sl3 be closed source ?
milakel Resident: well, technically, your gpu does it right now
milakel Resident: and possibly v3 will be required if you want to *upload* a mesh
milakel Resident: yaku, who knows
Eliza Madrigal will look forward to seeing what others do and lag behind as usual probably :)
Bleu Oleander: :) Eliza
Dash Earthboy: :) @ Eliza
--BELL--
Dash Earthboy: *sees another "sign" coming
Dash Earthboy: waves bfn
The matrix behind us all!
Storm Nordwind: I wonder if ctrl-shift-R shows what meshes will be like when seen through an older viewer ;-))
Riddle Sideways: :)
Eliza Madrigal: hmm
Riddle Sideways: ctrl-shift-R reveals the matrix behind us all
Eliza Madrigal giggles
Storm Nordwind: Take the black pill Riddle
Riddle Sideways: always seem to get the colors wrong
Storm Nordwind: :)
Bleu Oleander throws a bleu pill back and chases it with coffee
Storm Nordwind: hehe!
Riddle Sideways: oh, had never made that connection before
Eliza Madrigal: alert and artsy matrix
Bleu Oleander: :))
Bleu Oleander: ⊱ smiles ⊰
Feathers... of Maat?
Riddle Sideways: ah, feathers
Storm Nordwind: Something is tickling my nose
Riddle Sideways wonders how many particles gens blu has in inventory
Storm Nordwind: Maybe Bleu is Maat in disguise (?)
Bleu Oleander: haha
milakel Resident: who is maat?
Storm Nordwind: She is an Egyptian goddess
Riddle Sideways: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maat
Bleu Oleander feels a Maat performance piece coming on
milakel Resident: ah
Storm Nordwind: She weighed the souls of the dead against her feather of truth
milakel Resident: "truth and justice"
milakel Resident: that would be eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: Oh? :)
milakel Resident: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: hah
milakel Resident: reading description of maat on the wiki
Angry Gods.
Eliza Madrigal: In the Angry Gods exhibit, ther was actually a scale witha feather at one end
Eliza Madrigal: so well done
Riddle Sideways ponders the weight of a SL av
milakel Resident: she's a "personification of truth and justice"
Bleu Oleander: I went to the destruction of Angry Gods
Storm Nordwind: Me too
Bleu Oleander: very fun
Bleu Oleander: blew it all up
Eliza Madrigal: OH man, that must have been fun, Bleu :)
Storm Nordwind: I was was a little disappointed with the obsession with blowing stuff up, but it was worth a trip
Bleu Oleander: was cool to see it all come down
Eliza Madrigal: (I do like that description Mila... says more emphasis on the spirit than letter of the law)
Eliza Madrigal has many images of implosions and dust/sand about now
Bleu Oleander: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Rasima :)
milakel Resident: 2012? :)
milakel Resident: humans are fascinated with destruction
Bleu Oleander: have to go
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Bleu :)
Storm Nordwind: Bye Bleu!
Away we go.
Yakuzza Lethecus: have a good morning bleu
Bleu Oleander: i'll leave you some truth feathers hehe
Riddle Sideways: bye blu
Bleu Oleander: ⊱ smiles ⊰
milakel Resident: featherly girl :)
Storm Nordwind: Bleu needs a feather duster to clean up after the haboob!
Eliza Madrigal: hahah
milakel Resident: *grabs a few*
Bleu Oleander: haha
Eliza Madrigal: I should wander off as well... rain is stopping and natural busy rhythms are kicking in :)
milakel Resident: i remember sacred feathers from the darjeeling tea movie
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: remembering Dumbo's magic feather
Storm Nordwind thinks of the origins of the word 'Darjeeling'
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye everyone
Eliza Madrigal smiles at magic & sacred feathers and waves warmly
Storm Nordwind waves
milakel Resident: :)
Storm Nordwind: I will go too. Good day all!
Riddle Sideways: thanks all, enjoy the rest of ...
Storm Nordwind: Good to see you. Enjoy your recycling!
