Agatha Macbeth: wake up Zon :p
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Wol Euler: good morning, aggers
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello babe ♥
    Wol Euler: ♥
Agatha Macbeth: So what time is it *actually* ?
    Wol Euler: 09:25 for me
    Agatha Macbeth smiles
Agatha Macbeth: So it's right then
    Wol Euler smiles.
Agatha Macbeth: How long before US changes?
    Wol Euler: two weeks
    Wol Euler grumbles.
Agatha Macbeth: So evrything's one hour earlier then?
    Zon Kwan: hi girls
    Agatha Macbeth: Morning Zon
    Wol Euler: hello zon
    Wol Euler: yep
Agatha Macbeth: (Just trying to wake up)
Zon Kwan: how is life this morning ?
Wol Euler: well, same time as felt in the body. One hour earlier on any clocks that update themselves, or on those that you have already manually updated
    Agatha Macbeth: Yawny :p
Wol Euler: the Dome opening will be an hour earlier in RL time
    Agatha Macbeth: Is that noon?
    Zon Kwan: dome opening ?
    Wol Euler: noon SL yes
Wol Euler: the Art of Being exhibition opens at noon
Agatha Macbeth: I may miss the first ten minutes then
Wol Euler: pretty sure it's noon
Agatha Macbeth: You look very rosy
    Wol Euler smiles.

Agatha Macbeth goes to make the coffee
Wol Euler comes back with coffee, laughing.
    Agatha Macbeth returns
    Wol Euler smiles.
Agatha Macbeth: Did I miss anything?
Wol Euler: only in my kitchen
Wol Euler: I emptied out the thermos flask, put it on the counter ready for filling with coffee.
Agatha Macbeth: I made the coffee in your kitchen? Wow
Wol Euler: So I picked up the tea-strainer and teapot.
Wol Euler: which was of course empty, so I put it down and picked up the coffee pot instead
    Agatha Macbeth: Tea-strainer! Yay
Wol Euler: and started pouring the coffee through the tea-strainer into the thermos
    Wol Euler: yay me.
Agatha Macbeth: So it's a coffee strainer?
Wol Euler: it is now, I guess
Wol Euler: for chunky coffee, presumably
    Agatha Macbeth: Chunky?
Agatha Macbeth: Is that the brand name?
Wol Euler: no, chunky coffee is coffee that needs to be strained
Agatha Macbeth: As opposed to....the other sort?
    Wol Euler: exactly
    Wol Euler chuckles.
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
    Agatha Macbeth: I see
    Agatha Macbeth: (I think)
    Wol Euler: it's a joke. I wasn't thinking clearly.
Agatha Macbeth: Nono, the concept of 'chunky coffee' is an interesting one IMO
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Agatha Macbeth: Kinda like 'thick water'
Wol Euler: greek coffee could be described as chunky, with all those grounds in it
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah those Greeks
Agatha Macbeth: No wonder they throw the cups at the wall
    Wol Euler: heheh
Agatha Macbeth: Is that an Eshi?
    Wol Euler: Vita
    Agatha Macbeth: Of course
Wol Euler: for Halloween at Fracture last night
    Agatha Macbeth: Bit early
Wol Euler: perhaps it was a practice session
    Agatha Macbeth: Could be
Agatha Macbeth: Is the recorder ok now?
Wol Euler: seems to be, yes
Agatha Macbeth: The board has certainly filled up
    Wol Euler nods.

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: I saw that there was a tsunami warning issued for the west coast of Vancouver Island, so I've been reading about that
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh dear
Agatha Macbeth: Has there been a quake?
Wol Euler: I'm not sure why, it didn't say.
    Agatha Macbeth: Hmm
Agatha Macbeth: One of the perils of living on the Pacific coast I guess
Wol Euler: my sister is in Victoria, that's on the southeast, so it should not be directly affected
    Wol Euler: I hope
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Agatha Macbeth: Wonder if Aph knows about it?
    Wol Euler: I hope so
Wol Euler: given that the street name (where she lives) is [redacted], she's probably a fair way above sea level
Agatha Macbeth: With a tsunami, that's often not much help :(
Agatha Macbeth: Those muthas can be BIG
Agatha Macbeth: How far from Van is Burnaby?
    Wol Euler: dunno, checking
Agatha Macbeth: Or is it a suburb?
Wol Euler: it's a suburb, about 8km inland
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah, thanks
Wol Euler: and vancouver is sheltered behind the island
    Agatha Macbeth: Yep
    Agatha Macbeth: Bit like NY
Wol Euler: except that NY is an island :)
Wol Euler: vancouver city is not on vancouver island :)
Agatha Macbeth: Well, most of it
    Wol Euler: true enough.
Agatha Macbeth: And the Isle of Dogs
Agatha Macbeth: Always wonder why it's called that
    Wol Euler: good question :)

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: The Isle of Dogs is a former island in the East End of London that is bounded on three sides (east, south and west) by one of the largest meanders in the River Thames. It is almost bounded to the north by the South Dock (part of the old West India Docks). This dock is separated from an inlet of the River Thames by some forty metres of infilled land. Except for this one small separation, access to the Isle of Dogs always necessitates crossing water by bridge or tunnel. (Wikipedia)
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Agatha Macbeth: Nothing about the name tho?
Wol Euler: Brewer's 1898 Dictionary of Phrase and Fable attributes the name: "So called from being the receptacle of the greyhounds of Edward III. Some say it is a corruption of the Isle of Ducks, and that it is so called in ancient records from the number of wild fowl inhabiting the marshes."[2] Other sources[1][3] discount this, believing these stories to all derive from the antiquarian John Strype, and believe it might come from one of the following: a nickname of contempt; it was a "dog's life" for anyone forced to live on it. Thomas Nashe and Ben Jonson wrote a satirical play in 1597 titled The Isle of Dogs. Samuel Pepys referred to the "unlucky Isle of Dogs."
Wol Euler: the presence of Dutch engineers reclaiming the land from a disastrous flood;[1] the presence of gibbets on the foreshore facing Greenwich;[1] the fact that dead dogs were often washed up on the banks of the Thames at this location[citation needed] a yeoman farmer called Brache, this being an old word for a type of hunting dog;[1] the dogs of a later king, Henry VIII, who also kept deer in Greenwich Park. Again it is thought that his hunting dogs might have been kept in derelict farm buildings on the Island.[1][4] Literately the Isle of Dykes, which then got corrupted over the years.
Agatha Macbeth ponders Isle of Dykes
Agatha Macbeth: Sounds like an ineresting place :p
    Wol Euler: well, yes :)
Wol Euler: it combines Canary Wharf, highest per-capita income in the UK, with Bracknell, 81st poorest district in the UK (out of 8000)
Agatha Macbeth pities the other 80
Wol Euler: I spent a lot of time there as an architecture student, before Canary Wharf delevopment
Wol Euler: there and Wapping, which was a lovely little place
Agatha Macbeth: Seems strange to think of anywhere in the South as 'poor'
    Wol Euler: oh yes
Wol Euler: there were and are awful slums right in London
    Agatha Macbeth: Still?
Wol Euler: perhaps not still, it's been a while since I lived there
Agatha Macbeth: Where did you live?
    Agatha Macbeth: Camden was it?
Wol Euler: in nice areas, to be frank
    Wol Euler: camden, kentish town
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Wol Euler: always in walking distance of Hampstead Heath
Agatha Macbeth: Hampstead is très upmarket
    Wol Euler: yes but
Wol Euler: it's now as artificial as disneyland
Wol Euler: upmarket for visiting tourists, not "a nice place for locals to live"
    Agatha Macbeth: Hmm
Wol Euler: in my time it was still a place to live
Wol Euler: now it's all chain stores
    Agatha Macbeth sighs
    Wol Euler: indeed
Wol Euler: killed by its own success
    Wol Euler: as so often
Agatha Macbeth: Well they have to put em somewhere
Agatha Macbeth: Is it halloween at Frac next week too?
Wol Euler: not sure, perhaps not
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
    Agatha Macbeth: Poo
Wol Euler: it may be next weekend, they were talking about the safety of kids walking around in the expected Frankenstorm
    Agatha Macbeth: Right
    Agatha Macbeth sniffs your roses
    Wol Euler grins.

    --BELL--

Agatha Macbeth: Is it snowing there?
Agatha Macbeth: I noticed U tweeted something
Wol Euler: not at the moment, it snowed lightly all day yesterday
    Agatha Macbeth: Wow
Wol Euler: but the ground is still warm. There's no snow on the streets or pavement, but an inch or two on roofs
Wol Euler: and on cars driving into the city
    Wol Euler: from higher ground
Agatha Macbeth: Are you high up there?
    Wol Euler: it's relative :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Well yeh
Wol Euler: about halfway up the 330m change in altitude within city limits
Wol Euler: street level here is 275m ASL
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Wol Euler: ah, we talked about this some time ago, because I had to ask you what "ASL" meant :)
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes i remember
Agatha Macbeth: Didn't we get onto bench marks or something?
    Wol Euler: possibly :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Ha
    Agatha Macbeth: Awww :(
    Wol Euler: yeah
Agatha Macbeth: I do miss her
    Wol Euler nods.
Agatha Macbeth: At least the account is still there, so not deleted :)
Agatha Macbeth: Amzing to think we've known each other three years now
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: time flies, eh?
    Agatha Macbeth: Yeh
Agatha Macbeth: In fact in all that time I've hardly moved out of Bieup :p

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: A gets around a bit more, I think
Agatha Macbeth: That's cos she visits all the galleries and stuff
    Wol Euler nods.
Agatha Macbeth: Basically I'm just totally doing PaB or PaB-related
Agatha Macbeth: Another thing I've noticed is that recently I seem to be doing most of my shopping on the marketplace
    Wol Euler listens.
Agatha Macbeth: so consequently don't seem to visit stores so much
Wol Euler: interesting, I find that I use the marketplace as a research tool, then go to visit the shop inworld before buying
    Agatha Macbeth: Hmm
Wol Euler: dunno why I think they'll look different in the shop
Agatha Macbeth: I do 'follow up' visits sometimes, yes
Agatha Macbeth: Well they might have other stuff which they don't put on the MP
    Wol Euler: true
Wol Euler: and it's odd but sometimes I do get a different and better idea of how something looks when standing in front of the vendor
Wol Euler: perhaps being able to see myself with it
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Agatha Macbeth: That's understandable
Agatha Macbeth: The trouble with SL shops is that they move around so much :(
    Wol Euler: yeah
Agatha Macbeth: I followed a LM to a shop once and found myself in tthe living room of a german couple :p
Agatha Macbeth: They were most surprised
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: I've never met anyone that way, but I have landed in a few homes
Wol Euler: and underwater often too
Agatha Macbeth: Or on flat green land
Agatha Macbeth: And several times in clubs!
Wol Euler: were any worth noting?
    Agatha Macbeth: Not really
Agatha Macbeth: They were all empty at that time i think
Wol Euler: most clubs are empty most of the time, it seems to me
    Agatha Macbeth nods sadly
Agatha Macbeth: Tho Frac does well it seems
Agatha Macbeth: And Transmission gets a few in
Wol Euler makes a note of Transmission
Agatha Macbeth: In Atlantis City sim
Wol Euler: ooh, they had me at the cover art :)
Agatha Macbeth: They play a lot of ß-type stuff
Wol Euler: looks like htey would :)
    Agatha Macbeth smiles
Agatha Macbeth: There's actually a memorial to Ian Curtis at the entrance
    Wol Euler: awwww
Agatha Macbeth: Some bastards nicked his gravestone you know
    Wol Euler: not surprised

    --BELL--

Agatha Macbeth: Must have been hell for his family
    Wol Euler nods.
Agatha Macbeth: What are you up to the rest of the day then?
Agatha Macbeth: (Wol fell asleep at this point) <- for the record
Wol Euler: going to have a nap first :)
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Wol Euler: did not
    Wol Euler: :-P
Agatha Macbeth: Looks like you need it
Wol Euler: then lunch, then walk downtown to enjoy the day
    Agatha Macbeth smiles
Wol Euler: slight chill in the air, fog
    Wol Euler: and you?
Agatha Macbeth: Oh, taking it easy
    Agatha Macbeth: Nothin special
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: good
Agatha Macbeth: Do you often sleep during the day?
Wol Euler: not as often as I'd like to :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hehe
Wol Euler: I do like naps, probably take one every other weekend
Wol Euler: if I have a day off during the week, I might nap too
Agatha Macbeth: Glad you have the time now :)
    Wol Euler nods.
Agatha Macbeth: Instead of working 24/7
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: well, 10/6 anyway
Wol Euler: and these days fortunately not even that
Wol Euler: the next months will be harder, two competitions to hand in before christmas
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww :(
Wol Euler: okay, I think it's time to move on
    Agatha Macbeth: Yeh
Wol Euler: I'll go to Transmission to have a look at the place, get a LM, then bed
    Agatha Macbeth smiles

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: enjoy the day, dear aggers, and see you at the Dome at noon - an hour early clock time
    Agatha Macbeth: Okies
