Catrinamonblue Resident: not really, had some probs and Druth suggested joining that group for any future issues
Catrinamonblue Resident: with clothing and my avatar

Bleu Oleander: when I first came into sl I took several of their classes
Catrinamonblue Resident: still learning this whole SL thing

Catrinamonblue Resident: In RL? Ontario Canada
Bleu Oleander: big storm going up the east US coast
Catrinamonblue Resident: I know we have fingers crossed
Bleu Oleander: I have family in NJ and NYC who are crossing theirs too
Bleu Oleander: have you been to any sessions this week that have focused on the week's themes?
Catrinamonblue Resident: no I haven't but was reading some of the logs
Bleu Oleander: do you have any thoughts on either theme?
Catrinamonblue Resident: some very deep stuff, I think a bit beyond me
Bleu Oleander: or maybe another subject or question you've been thinking about?
Catrinamonblue Resident: deception and desire go hand in hand
Catrinamonblue Resident: walking down the garden path
Catrinamonblue Resident: sometimes when we desire something we deceive ourselves
Bleu Oleander: you mean we think we desire it but really don't?
Catrinamonblue Resident: yes
Catrinamonblue Resident: sometimes when we get there we find that it was not everything we thought it would be
Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: so we misjudge what we think we want?
Bleu Oleander: I think we don't always know what will make us happy
Catrinamonblue Resident: no we don't and sometimes we find that what makes us happy is right in front of us the whole time
Catrinamonblue Resident: the desire gets in the way
Bleu Oleander: do you think there are too many confusing messages out there that try to convince us of things that will make us happy?
Catrinamonblue Resident: yes, advertisments for everything under the sun and moon, material objects that promise happiness
Bleu Oleander: desire is related to achievement and goals too I think
Catrinamonblue Resident: thinking
Bleu Oleander: part of the motivation to pursue somethings
Catrinamonblue Resident: yes it is as there are two sides to a coin so there are two to desire

Bleu Oleander: what are some of the positive qualities of desire?
Bleu Oleander: motivation might be one
Xs Andree: intuition
Bleu Oleander: romantic desire might be another
Bleu Oleander: how is intuition related to desire?
Bleu Oleander: interesting :)
Xs Andree: huh, never thought about it. I always kind of just..assumed, but...
Bleu Oleander: in the way that we desire to know?
Catrinamonblue Resident: about ourselves perhaps
Xs Andree: it does seem to me to be related to it. when I'm not sure what to do, I always sit down and try to find what i want at the core of my being, and then my intuition becomes sharper
Bleu Oleander: a desire to have the information within us?
Catrinamonblue Resident: a desire to find the info within?
Bleu Oleander: so a desire to know the self and what the self knows?
Xs Andree: no, cause to find desire I close down thought and just feel, and then...
Xs Andree: it's like Jack's compass in Pirates of the Carribean
Bleu Oleander: ah interesting
Bleu Oleander: so being intouch with an inner desire?
Xs Andree: because your feet have to follow the needle of your yearning
Catrinamonblue Resident: I like that
Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: so like a motivation to lead you?
Catrinamonblue Resident: I'm in a rather negative place so for me right now desire is all about the negative. I thank you for showing me the positive
Xs Andree: i know what you mean, I've been watching my desires lately very closely as well.
Xs Andree: there...
Bleu Oleander: I always like to see the positive first ... then the negative doesn't seem so bad :)
Xs Andree: it is like there are two different ways desire can lead you
Xs Andree: like a chain
Xs Andree: or like a guide
Catrinamonblue Resident: can you chose?
Xs Andree: one leads you around traps and obstacles
Bleu Oleander: desires can take over and run out of control at times
Xs Andree: I think you can
Xs Andree: yeah, and the other barrells you through everything
Catrinamonblue Resident: can the desires of others interfere with your own?
Bleu Oleander: definitely
Xs Andree: I think so, for me they do at times
Catrinamonblue Resident: what then?
Bleu Oleander: awareness is key
Xs Andree: one of my desires is to help others attain their own.
Bleu Oleander: become more aware of your desires and others desires ... see the interaction
Bleu Oleander: I think that relates to Play as Being ideas of pausing to see more clearly
Bleu Oleander: nice Xs
Xs Andree: i think it is better to have your desires given as gifts, from others, than to seize them yourself.
Bleu Oleander: how can others give you a desire?
Xs Andree: and to work together to attain them is part of that gift.
Xs Andree: well...if a friend of mine is upset, I want to see her at peace again and happy.
Bleu Oleander: a desire to help others ... can that be given to you? or encouraged?
Xs Andree: a desire to help others is the acceptance of their desires as your own, or maybe a recognition of it.
Bleu Oleander: what encourages compassion?
Xs Andree: yeah, co-passion
Catrinamonblue Resident: how do you find what their desires are?
Bleu Oleander: so you internalize their desires and help them achieve their desires?
Xs Andree: I dunno, people are always talking about them, they are more than willing to.
Xs Andree: yes.
Xs Andree: i want them to have it as well. i want it with them, and then I dream it, and it happens.
Bleu Oleander: attunement to others perhaps
Xs Andree: i'm dreaming now with a very special friend of mine. I dream she finds all of her desires come true.
Xs Andree: i want her to have that.
Bleu Oleander: :)

Xs Andree: and she's noticed the difference. I don't even have to know what all of them are.

Bleu Oleander: so what impact on the world would that have if everyone felt like that?
Xs Andree: heh, i think that we live in a world like that now.
Xs Andree: some people's desires are not wholesome or uplifting.
Catrinamonblue Resident: some are very selfish indeed
Bleu Oleander: btw, there is a session today at noon on our new art project
Bleu Oleander: if you can come it's in the art dome
Xs Andree: I will if i can, thank you.
Bleu Oleander: we worked in teams this time
Catrinamonblue Resident: I won't be around but have alredy had a peek
Bleu Oleander: was great to work together on art projects
Xs Andree: I'd like that again, I would love to work with you guys on something.
Bleu Oleander: great ... each piece has a notecard in their signs
Bleu Oleander: oh great Xs
Bleu Oleander: our next project may be in a couple of months
Xs Andree: oh, I thought you were starting a new one today, today is just the showing then?
Bleu Oleander: no today is the opening
Bleu Oleander: we've been working on them for over a month
Bleu Oleander: so finished now
Xs Andree: nod nod
Bleu Oleander: today's session is with all the artists to have a conversation about their pieces
Bleu Oleander: about building them, their interpretation of the theme, designing them etc.
Xs Andree: A friend of mine follows the jedi code. During a time when i was wrestling with a very strong passionate desire, he gave me some advice that helped me break free from the struggles i felt that i would lose.
Bleu Oleander: what was that?
Xs Andree: self control and discipline are important, but there are some desires that will not shake free
Xs Andree: he said "let your desire inform you without controlling you. Feel it, accept it, acknowledge and appreciate it, and it will not control you"

Bleu Oleander: :)
Xs Andree: and then the object of my desire came over to my house, wearing nothing but a wool coat and stockings...and nothing underneath.
Xs Andree: I was talking to him one minute, and the next she was knocking on my window.
Xs Andree: it worked.
Xs Andree: I haven't struggled with it since.
Xs Andree: And i can feel it, still, but it isn't driving me crazy.
