The Guardian for this meeting was Eliza Madrigal. The comments are by Eliza Madrigal, who sat alone lisetning to John Coltrane (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hf48R...c&feature=fvsr) until Stevenaia joined me for thoughtful discussion of boredom...

    stevenaia Michinaga: waves
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Stevenaia :)

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: how are you, i am slow typing, i have a cat sleeping on one arm
Eliza Madrigal: happy that Fubu is back :)
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, right at home
    stevenaia Michinaga: took a vacation
Eliza Madrigal: everyone needs one from time to time
    Eliza Madrigal: shift of scene
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, or perhaps payback for leaving him this summer from time to time
    Eliza Madrigal: must be
Eliza Madrigal: are your wanderings resting now?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes , until next year
stevenaia Michinaga: although Venice looked nice from above
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Eliza Madrigal: have you thoughts to offer on 'boredom' ?
stevenaia Michinaga: I began the topic on Saturday night w/ someone who i had never met before who stopped in, i think i concluded that boredom is wasted on the youth
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
stevenaia Michinaga: harder to get bored in my old age, what may appear to br boredom is usually useful reflection, not sure youth has the skill to reflect, at least I didn't, was busy accumulating things to reflect on later in life, i suppose
Eliza Madrigal: when I think of times I was bored, earlier in life, I think it was more that I was hot and lethargic (living in Miami) or perhaps in a 'watching the clock' situation waiting for something more interesting to happen after school or after work...

stevenaia Michinaga: do your children get bored?
Eliza Madrigal: they do not seem to... they call it bored when asked to do something besides what they want to be doing
Eliza Madrigal: but from all appearances they seem very entertained with themselves even in those cases :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: seem the more you have to distract youself, the easier it is to be bored with all of it
    Eliza Madrigal nodding
Eliza Madrigal: The Great Gatsby comes to mind somehow

stevenaia Michinaga: I know two artists who paint sometimes 16 hours a day, they view everyday as time not to be wasted, each was or is close to death

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: pouring out their last droplets perhaps...
Eliza Madrigal: or feeling that way
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, not knowing which may be the last

    stevenaia Michinaga: who's birthday cake?
    Eliza Madrigal: Bruce :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Eliza Madrigal: He is in Chicago celebrating... at least from what I've gleaned...
Eliza Madrigal: a significant milestone year...

stevenaia Michinaga: nods, I love chicago. was there for 5 years
stevenaia Michinaga: sometime the snow would be deep and the lake would freeze over, , very unworldly
Eliza Madrigal: amazing, that must be....
Eliza Madrigal: I was there once... the chill from the lake was unforgettable... biting...
    Eliza Madrigal: the winds...
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Eliza Madrigal: an amazing basil sauce too :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)

Eliza Madrigal: you seem reflective Stevenaia...
stevenaia Michinaga: lots to reflect on
    stevenaia Michinaga: sleeping cat
    stevenaia Michinaga: sitting here
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

stevenaia Michinaga: glad we are here every 6 hours, sometime I'm uup fr the 1:00 am as my morning starts
Eliza Madrigal: nice to have this touchstone
Eliza Madrigal: we all offer that to one another continually
stevenaia Michinaga: and all the friendly faces on the board looking back, thanks to Bleu
Eliza Madrigal: :) a true welcoming committee

stevenaia Michinaga: are you steampunk tonight?
    Eliza Madrigal: seem to be
Eliza Madrigal: have had the boots for a while...

stevenaia Michinaga: ponder boredom as a part of reality, or apart from it
stevenaia Michinaga: boredom is the ability to see nothing.. you just don;t know it :)

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: one can panic if they think of all the time that has seemed 'wasted' along the way... detours or time when one seemed missing a crucial bit of knowledge
Eliza Madrigal: but it isn't real, that... really feel nothing is wasted ultimately
Eliza Madrigal: so there is some optimism in boredom :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: only in retrospect
stevenaia Michinaga: there was some optimism in boredom, because you didn;t know it when you were bored
stevenaia Michinaga: although.. people really never do die of boredom, life always follows

Eliza Madrigal: :) even in memories of boredom as a child I think they lasted only a moment...
Eliza Madrigal: then one gets wrapped up playing with the dog or twirling around
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: but felt like an eternity
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Eliza Madrigal: Must say goodnight Stevenaia...
Eliza Madrigal: so glad you popped by :)
Eliza Madrigal: There is an art installation going on you may like...
stevenaia Michinaga: were you here long?
    Eliza Madrigal: Gracie Kendall
    stevenaia Michinaga: tp me
Eliza Madrigal: from the beginning of the session....
Eliza Madrigal: ah, I'm not going but will give you a LM
    Eliza Madrigal: am zzzzz
    stevenaia Michinaga: ok
Eliza Madrigal: I'll peek in tomorrow but I've heard wonderful things about it
    stevenaia Michinaga: thanks
    Eliza Madrigal: most welcome
    stevenaia Michinaga: see you soon
Eliza Madrigal: Night :) see you soon
