Bruce Mowbray: Howdy do, oO0Oo and Fefonz
oO0Oo Resident: hi Bruce.. hi Fefonz
    Fefonz Quan: Hi Bruce, oOOOo
Bruce Mowbray is looking for another shirt.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Boxy.
    Alfred Kelberry: wuff!
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Alfred Kelberry: fef :)
    Fefonz Quan: yo Alfi
    oO0Oo Resident: hi Boxy
    Alfred Kelberry: rare guest :)
Alfred Kelberry: how's the little baby girl doing? :)
Fefonz Quan: just fine, managed to go to sleep finally
Bruce Mowbray: I was just about to ask that.
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Fefonz Quan: :)
Fefonz Quan: are you familiar with the conscious state when you are very tired but can't fall asleep?
    oO0Oo Resident nods
    Alfred Kelberry: insomnia :)
Bruce Mowbray: absolutely familiar with it, Fef. I am a diagnosed insomniac, so I know it well.
Fefonz Quan: well, this term may be too harsh here
Fefonz Quan: i guess i am talking about a more soft state, which she feels frequently.
    Bruce Mowbray listens intently.
Fefonz Quan: as for myself, ususaly i fall asleep in no time
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: that's good, fef
Alfred Kelberry: no worries in your mind
Fefonz Quan: i speculate that this state comes from unpeaceful state of mine (for grown ups)
    Bruce Mowbray: Howdy, Wol!
    Wol Euler: hello invisibles
    Alfred Kelberry: wow, woly :)
Wol Euler: the world is very slow today
Fefonz Quan: and then just a small push of relaxation gets you over the cliff to dream land
Alfred Kelberry: um... you look good :)
    Wol Euler: ty :)
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Wol
Bruce Mowbray: The surest "cure" for insomnia that I've ever found is the Buddhist technique called "Taking and Sending" (Tonglen.
    Fefonz Quan: Heya Wol!
Bruce Mowbray: Oh my! Wol in a mini-shirt.
Fefonz Quan: Oh, interesting Bruce. never tried tonglen in that sense
    Bruce Mowbray: and boots.
    Wol Euler grins.
    Fefonz Quan: Hey Wol!
Bruce Mowbray: Well @ Fef -- I developed my own method years before I ever learned about Tonglen.
Wol Euler: hello bruce, sam, fef, boxy
Bruce Mowbray: I simply blessed whoever popped into my mind, until I fell asleep.
Fefonz Quan: somehow both words on your group title seem to be wrong
Bruce Mowbray: now I do it and call it "Tonglen"
    Wol Euler laughs.

    --BELL--

    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Wol!
Fefonz Quan: nice, Bruce, why count sheep when you can bless them instead> :)
Wol Euler: what a great idea, bruce.
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I'll bless sheep, cows, pigs, trees, snails, whatever pops into my mind....
    oO0Oo Resident giggles
Alfred Kelberry: fef, it may not be related, but sometimes when i'm quite tired, but engaged in something interesting, i sort of keep going despite knowing that my body is tired and i like the feeling.
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: sounds very familiar
Fefonz Quan: yes, this one i know pretty well Alf!
Alfred Kelberry: it's kind of like being tipsy a little, but with a clear mind :)
Alfred Kelberry: and often at this time i get useful insights :)
Fefonz Quan: keeping my eyes open in front of TV or internet...
    Alfred Kelberry: haha
Bruce Mowbray: yeah, sort of like the "edge" of consciousness where insights happen readily.
Alfred Kelberry: i also think that a 24 hours schedule isn't well suited for us the modern humans
    Alfred Kelberry: bruce :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Howdy, Qt.
    Wol Euler: huh
    Alfred Kelberry: qt :)
    Qt Core: Hi all
Wol Euler: what would you recommend in its place, boxy?
    Wol Euler: hello qt
Fefonz Quan: in a way i feel this is also simimlar to her state someitime, the position of "the world out there is too interestingt to let my eyeleads close down"
Alfred Kelberry: a bit longer, woly
Wol Euler: ah! and how will you arrange that with the sun?
Bruce Mowbray: /me, like Fef, doesn't want to miss anything.
    Bruce Mowbray: ooops.
oO0Oo Resident: "the world out there is too interestingt to let my eyeleads close down" :))
    Fefonz Quan: -t
Bruce Mowbray , like Fef, doesn't want to miss anything - but that's not why he's insomniac.
    oO0Oo Resident: hi Qt
    Fefonz Quan: hi Qt
    Bruce Mowbray: Viva Italia!
Alfred Kelberry: woly... um... well, people on the north somehow manage it without the sun in winter :)
Qt Core: ? why so enthusiast, Bruce ?
Bruce Mowbray: because I'm only planning to go around once, Qt.
    Wol Euler grins.
Alfred Kelberry: bruce, have you seen a movie with al pachino where he plays an insomniac... detective, i think?
Bruce Mowbray: and at the grand old age of 68, well, I don't want to miss anything.
Bruce Mowbray: nope. Please say more.
    Wol Euler: :)
Alfred Kelberry: i was curious if they depicted it authentically
Qt Core: i often feel sad as i will not knew everything but it is a more long period feeling, not just keeping me awake refreshing google news each 5 min ;-)
    Alfred Kelberry: qt, i agree
Bruce Mowbray: Oh - @ Alfred -- Insomnia is like losing your mind. I once went almost three straigt nights without sleep -- and my personal physician saw the problem was so bad that he came to my home and gave me meds to sleep.
Alfred Kelberry: so many places to see on this little earth
    Bruce Mowbray: straight*
Qt Core: sometime else instead i feel godlike as i may learn about everything... on wikipedia, this time ;-)
    Alfred Kelberry: bruce, ouch
Bruce Mowbray: I really want to watch that movie, Al -- and will Google it now and report back.
Alfred Kelberry: you sure could start a fight club in such state :)
oO0Oo Resident: wisdom may, in the end satisfy, more than knowledge?
    Fefonz Quan nods
Bruce Mowbray: Fight Club is one of the best movies ever made, IMHO.
Alfred Kelberry: qt, "wikipedia - the word of god" :)
    Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
Qt Core: yes, but it is quite gharder to get ;-)
    Fefonz Quan nods again
Alfred Kelberry: yea, i enjoyed it, bruce
Alfred Kelberry: *thinks woly didn't like it*
    Alfred Kelberry: *wonders why*
Alfred Kelberry: *if it is so*
Wol Euler hasn't seen it yet, but is surprised by the extravagant claim.
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: you should :)
Wol Euler: I mean. there's some pretty stiff competition.
Wol Euler: "Blade Runner", "Cat on a hot tin roof", "Casablanca", "The Sacrifice" ...

    --BELL--

    Alfred Kelberry: ...
Bruce Mowbray: (That's why I said, IMHO . . . will now shut up for "drop")
    Alfred Kelberry: wuff!
    Bruce Mowbray: Howdy, Zon.
    Qt Core: Hi Zon
    Wol Euler: hello zon
    oO0Oo Resident: hi Zon
    Fefonz Quan: hello Zon
    Bruce Mowbray: Fight Club, anyone?
    Alfred Kelberry: yay!
Alfred Kelberry: ok, me and woly go first
    Wol Euler snorts.
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    oO0Oo Resident giggles
Bruce Mowbray: touching Alfred playfully doth not a fight make, Woly.
Wol Euler: I'm a lover not a fighter.
Alfred Kelberry: mmm, that's a new kind of fight - gentle nose clicking :)
Alfred Kelberry: i like it :)
    Wol Euler grins.
    Alfred Kelberry: love wins :)
    Wol Euler: hello liza
    Qt Core: Hi Liza
    Liza Deischer: hi everyone :)
Alfred Kelberry: in fact it did in fight club
    oO0Oo Resident: hi Liza
Bruce Mowbray: Brad Pitt was superb as Tyler Durdan (might be wrong with that last name)
    Bruce Mowbray: Howdy do, Liza!
    Fefonz Quan: Hi Liza!
    Alfred Kelberry: liza :)
    Alfred Kelberry: nice tan
Bruce Mowbray is going ape over that leather hat.
Liza Deischer: fine Bruce, thanks :)
    Alfred Kelberry: hehe
Fefonz Quan: (please mp spoilers Alf)
    Liza Deischer: oops
    Alfred Kelberry: ah, sorry, fef
Liza Deischer: btw, what means 'going ape"?
Fefonz Quan: I did see it, but not sure about all the othrs
Bruce Mowbray: "Going ape" means, "WOW! SUPREMELY COOL!"
Alfred Kelberry: it was a general statement :)
Qt Core: i haven't seen but don't plan too or at least not shortly
Fefonz Quan: mice african summer Liza
    Liza Deischer: ah :)
Fefonz Quan: It is very good imho, Qt
    Fefonz Quan: nice*
    Bruce Mowbray ponders African mice.
Alfred Kelberry: woly, that competition you named btw are out of scope. they're classic :)
    Wol Euler: very long necks
Wol Euler: take it up with the guy who issued the challenge :)
Bruce Mowbray: mice-giraffe -- Oh dear.
    Alfred Kelberry: um...
Qt Core: it may be but i'm almosty allergic to the movie that come out with too much advertising/hype (it was hard to force me to go see Inception) and i never saw Titanic
Fefonz Quan: and it's not (only) about the fighting Qt, just fyi
Qt Core: wow, same actor in all three ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: are you referring to Fight Club - with the advertising hype, Qt?
    Bruce Mowbray: or to Inception?
    Qt Core: both
    Liza Deischer: (haven't seen Inception)
Fefonz Quan: in fact, if i recall, when fight club was published, it wasn't a big succeesss, and it gained repoutin afterwards slwoly
    Qt Core: smd titanic too
Alfred Kelberry: is thelma and louise a classic?
Bruce Mowbray: yes, Fight Club became a cult classic quickly.
    Liza Deischer: I think so
Liza Deischer: to me it is :)
Fefonz Quan: NO, that actor is not in Fight Club
Alfred Kelberry: ok, then it's out of scope too
Bruce Mowbray: Thelma and Louise - also a classic.
Alfred Kelberry: and it's one of my faves
    Liza Deischer: great movie
    Fefonz Quan: sinemascope Alf?
    Alfred Kelberry: huh?
    Fefonz Quan: cinemascope*
Fefonz Quan: [13:42] Alfred Kelberry: ok, then it's out of scope too
    Alfred Kelberry: ah!
Liza Deischer: I used to go a lot to the cinema, hardly do it anymore
Alfred Kelberry: out of competition with the current titles :)
Fefonz Quan: me too, technically it becomes quite difficult now :)
    Fefonz Quan: (to Liza)
Bruce Mowbray: I consider Fight Club to be an in-the-closet study of Buddhist mindfulness techniques.
    Wol Euler: O.O
    Wol Euler: wow.
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: *giggles at woly*
Bruce Mowbray: because of the little one, right Fef?
Liza Deischer: hmmmm, then maybe I should make an exception and go see it
    Fefonz Quan: yep.

    --BELL--

Qt Core: get ready to see mostly disney/pizar movies, Fef :-)
Fefonz Quan: I did manage t see "black swan" though
    Bruce Mowbray: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0137523/
Bruce Mowbray: I watched "The King's Speech" last night -- wonderful movie.
Bruce Mowbray wants to see "The Black Swan" next.
    Liza Deischer: Deipnosophist Wol?
Fefonz Quan: have you actually read it Wol?
    Wol Euler: yep :)
Liza Deischer: is that a book?
Wol Euler: read what? (revealing that the answer is "no")
    Fefonz Quan is impressed
oO0Oo Resident: enjoyed King's Speech also
    Fefonz Quan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deipnosophistae
Wol Euler: oh, I didn'T know that book :) ty
Wol Euler: a 'deipnosophist' is a master of the art of dinner-table conversation
Wol Euler: "gastronomer" is another lovely word!
Alfred Kelberry: king's speech was ok
Fefonz Quan: oh, indeed that term needs a word of its own!
Alfred Kelberry: much easier in german - you just lump words together
Bruce Mowbray: gastronomer -- an astronomer with flatulence?
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Alfred Kelberry: not safe on orbit
Bruce Mowbray makes note to ask Pema.
Wol Euler: nah, a near-synonym for deipnosophist
    Wol Euler: gastronomy/astronomer
Qt Core: at our amateur astronomy club we often do gastronomy, we go eat a pizza and then go looking at the stars
    Wol Euler: exactly :)
    Alfred Kelberry: haha
    Liza Deischer: hehehe
    Alfred Kelberry: nice, qt
    Fefonz Quan: cool :)
Alfred Kelberry: are you in the rural area? no pollution?
    Qt Core: absolutely not, alf
Qt Core: not in rural area i mean
Bruce Mowbray: I am in the VERY VERY rural area....
Alfred Kelberry: ah... not much stars to look at then
Fefonz Quan: the Rural mountains :)
Alfred Kelberry: bruce is lucky :)
Bruce Mowbray: sees Milky Way every night that there are no clouds.
    Alfred Kelberry: aw
Bruce Mowbray: yes, lucky -- until I want urban connections.
Liza Deischer: used to like milky ways :)
Alfred Kelberry: please take a pic one night, bruce :)
    Bruce Mowbray: YUMMMMmmmm!
Liza Deischer: you have us Bruce :)
Fefonz Quan: long exposure please :)
Bruce Mowbray: It's fascinating to see how the Milky Way moves in its band as the year progresses.
    Liza Deischer [Ish] nods
Alfred Kelberry: *wants to go some place very rural now*
Bruce Mowbray: and then to realize that it's the galaxy on edge.
Liza Deischer: in the city we are not in touch with it anymore
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Liza -- there's a "shift" for ya (no offense intended).
Liza Deischer: to go live rural?
Alfred Kelberry: i think he meant a mental shift
    Alfred Kelberry: *purrs*
Bruce Mowbray: I typed it in -- but it didn't take.. will try again....
Bruce Mowbray: To watch the night sky. . .
Bruce Mowbray: and then to realize what you are looking at . . .
    Liza Deischer [Ish] nods
Bruce Mowbray: brings on a remarkable shift in awareness. For me, anyway.
Liza Deischer: well, one of my memories when I was a young kid
Liza Deischer: was looking at the sky with a cousin of mine
Liza Deischer: I can remember how impressed I was after that, some 'shift' inside
Alfred Kelberry: bruce, they say each astronaut feels that when gets on orbit
Liza Deischer: we looked for a long time
Bruce Mowbray: yes, I've heard that about astronauts . . .
Bruce Mowbray: and one who did not feel that, I'd think, was not worthy of being an astronaut.
Liza Deischer: it makes you humble again
Alfred Kelberry: bruce, well said :)
Alfred Kelberry: i still hope one day i can
oO0Oo Resident reflects... to become 'humble' again
Bruce Mowbray: The first creature in space was a dog, you know.
    Alfred Kelberry: wuff!
    Wol Euler: laika
    Liza Deischer: yes
    Alfred Kelberry: yes, indeed
    Fefonz Quan: ffuw!
    Liza Deischer: a russian dog
    Alfred Kelberry: my cousin

    --BELL--

    Liza Deischer: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Sleep well, Fef!
Fefonz Quan: good night all, it's been great to meet
    Liza Deischer: bye Fonz :)
    Qt Core: bye Fef
Wol Euler: bye fef, take care. hugs to the family
    Fefonz Quan: _/!\_
Fefonz Quan: will do, thanks Wol
    oO0Oo Resident: g'night Fefonz :)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Bruce Mowbray: Do any of you look for the International Space Staion to cross over?
    Liza Deischer: sorry, no
Wol Euler: I've seen it once! that was amazing!
    Bruce Mowbray: yes, amazing.
Bruce Mowbray: I am an addict for it.
Wol Euler: two summers ago, in Milwaukee
Wol Euler: a truly astonishing thing
Bruce Mowbray: It sort of gives you a sense of perspective. . .
Wol Euler: seeing that was like the secular experience of a religious epiphany
Bruce Mowbray: ISS is close, moon is farther but still close. . .
    Wol Euler: *equivalent of...
Bruce Mowbray: and stars are ---- WAYYYYY of!
    Bruce Mowbray: off*
Qt Core: one of the few techology achievment to really be proud of (my opinion)
Qt Core: but not only techonogic
Bruce Mowbray: IMHO, Hubble rates right up there, also.
Liza Deischer: I recently when to sl-Nasa
Bruce Mowbray: to give us glimpses of the edge of creation itself.
    Bruce Mowbray: wb, Zon
Qt Core: yes, but the "internationality" and the human presence in the ISS are the things that make the difference for me
Bruce Mowbray: ahhhhh -- wonderful points, Qt.
Wol Euler: my dears, I'm getting tired and have some errands still to run. Goodnight, take care.
    Bruce Mowbray: Sleep well, Wol!
    Qt Core: gnight
    oO0Oo Resident: night Wol.. tc
    Liza Deischer: oops, night Wol....
Liza Deischer: for the record :)
Qt Core: these days there is an italian (too) in the iss and while he is there his mother died how sad having that happening while he is probably living his life dream
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm . . .
Liza Deischer: yes, that's almost 'weird'
Liza Deischer: but somehow they do seem to connect
Bruce Mowbray: and how remarkable the memory of where you were when you learned your mother died.
Liza Deischer: I need to go
    Bruce Mowbray: me too.
    Qt Core: bye Liza
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, Liza!
    oO0Oo Resident: ntsy Liza.. tc
Liza Deischer: I hope to be at Wok again tomorrow
    Qt Core: and bye Bruce
    Liza Deischer: see you :)
Bruce Mowbray: bye for now --
    Bruce Mowbray: Thank you everyone.
    oO0Oo Resident: bye Bruce.. gtsy
Qt Core: i need to go too, bye all and have fun
    Zon Kwan: waves
    oO0Oo Resident: bye Qt.. tc..

    --BELL--

    Alfred Kelberry: um
    Alfred Kelberry: all gone
    Alfred Kelberry: ha!
    Alfred Kelberry: nice
    oO0Oo Resident: oops
    oO0Oo Resident: sorry
    oO0Oo Resident: yes.. all gone
Alfred Kelberry: can you do it again? :)
    Alfred Kelberry: um
oO0Oo Resident: i'm not quite sure what i did there
    Alfred Kelberry: hehe
    Alfred Kelberry: letters poped up
    Alfred Kelberry: ribbon, i think
    Alfred Kelberry: oh, well
    oO0Oo Resident: i heard a noise, like a voice
    Alfred Kelberry: have t ogo
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: be well, sam
oO0Oo Resident: oh.. OK ntsy boxy
    oO0Oo Resident: ya you too
