2011.05.17 19:00 - Baobab

The Guardian for this meeting was Eos Amaterasu. The comments are by Eos Amaterasu.

Paradise Tennant: the convesations here are often very engaging and offer a depth of insight I find .. not found that often mind sometimes it is just relaxed chatter :)
Lucinda Lavender: I think of it as putting out the table cloth and the dishes and then seeing what comes along ...
    Paradise Tennant: yes !
    Paradise Tennant: perfect metaphor :)
Lucinda Lavender: feast or potluck...both work
Lucinda Lavender: observations about awareness, being, and about what is feeding us...
Paradise Tennant: or what we are feeding :)
    Lucinda Lavender: nodding:)
Malinson Bloobury: I'm not understanding that.
Lucinda Lavender: sometimes there is poetry, dreamdiscussion, just observation.
Paradise Tennant: we talk of a variety of mindful traditions :) what constitutes wisdom, what reallity is :) what appearance are , how to better understand the experience that is life :)
Paradise Tennant: and dogs, and cats and cooking and gardening :) and music and dance :)) and the small minutiae that make up our every days :)
    Lucinda Lavender: HI Eos:)
Eos Amaterasu: HI Paradise and Malinson and Luci
    Malinson Bloobury: hello
Paradise Tennant: hello eos :) gtsy :)

    --BELL--

Malinson Bloobury: The Mind is a Realm that Baffles the Eye,
Malinson Bloobury: Bringing Shape to an Illusion,
Malinson Bloobury: And Form to a Lie.
Malinson Bloobury: Buried in the Ground of karmic Invention,
Malinson Bloobury: Is a Seed of Purpose A goal of Intention.
Malinson Bloobury: The Baobab Stands as Mighty as the Best,
Malinson Bloobury: Bringing food with clothing and Shelter too Rest.
Malinson Bloobury: But Contained in the fruits of its tasty invention,
Malinson Bloobury: Are the Seeds of Purpose A goal of Intention.

Malinson Bloobury: What are your thoughts on what this poem teaches about life?
Eos Amaterasu: What makes you bring it up?
    Malinson Bloobury: For insightful refection.
Malinson Bloobury: What does it reflect within you?
Eos Amaterasu: Well, I don't really know - a first thought was "show me"
Eos Amaterasu: Ie, what does it mean for you? You are familiar with it.
Malinson Bloobury: Simplicity is the seed of complexity. Even a child would understand and agree with profound philosophical truths by means of a few simple lessons. It is a lifeline of salvation, a tugging alarm of truth within the darkness of academic manipulation. Yet, it’s a path easily lost, covered over by the obscurity of desire, like a well-practiced burial from the winds of time.
Eos Amaterasu feels sandstorms blowing over him...
Lucinda Lavender: luci likes to think about seeds:)
Malinson Bloobury: You mind is the realm that baffles the eye
    Eos Amaterasu: that's true!
Malinson Bloobury: see's what it desires to see
    Malinson Bloobury: thus,
Malinson Bloobury: it rules it's understanding of what it see's
Eos Amaterasu: we are the lens of our own mind
Malinson Bloobury: As one understands this it becomes easier to walk the objective realm of reality.
    Malinson Bloobury: otherwise,
    Paradise Tennant: smiles yes
Malinson Bloobury: the practice becomes pointless.
Eos Amaterasu: Could you suggest a short one-liner that expresses the essence of that that we could practice in the upcomiong 90 seconds of silence (in 8 minutes)?
Malinson Bloobury: The practice itself is a fairly simplistic devotion, not too dissimilar to what one might expect. We chant a simple phrase that represents our devotion to the needs of our spiritual mind. It is important to have a practice of some kind so that our physical minds do not get caught up in worldly affairs. Our spiritual minds place great trust in us, so we recognize that through the practice.
Eos Amaterasu: Malinson, have you been here before, & know about "Play as Being", etc?
Eos Amaterasu: We try to have an open mind about what we experience as reality
    Malinson Bloobury: I have
Eos Amaterasu: (thru our mind of course)
Eos Amaterasu: could you give us the eye-dropper transmission of your poem, that we could use to frame the upcoming 90 seconds?
Eos Amaterasu: Ie, get to _experience_ that?
    Eos Amaterasu: HI Eliza
    Lucinda Lavender: HI Eliza:)
    Paradise Tennant: hiya eliza :)))
    stevenaia Michinaga: evening
    Lucinda Lavender: hi Steve
Eliza Madrigal: HI Eos, Malison (nice to meet you), Paradise, Luci, Stevenaia :)))))
    Malinson Bloobury: hello Stevenaia
Lucinda Lavender: LUCI LIKES THE TERM EYEDROPPER TRANSMISSION OF POEM...
    Eos Amaterasu: hi Stevenaia
    Lucinda Lavender: oops
Lucinda Lavender: not shouting of course
stevenaia Michinaga: nice to see you again Malinson
    Eliza Madrigal: thanks Eos
Eos Amaterasu: the eyes wide open transmission, Luci!
Lucinda Lavender: Ah ...and this is how we let children feed water to our plants at my work...
    Malinson Bloobury: you too Stevenaia
Eliza Madrigal: :) I saw two boabab trees today

    --BELL--

    Eliza Madrigal: *Baobab, rather
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Malinson Bloobury: So when you say we are you meaning that you speak on behalf of everyone?
Eos Amaterasu: unfortunate use of word, yes
Eos Amaterasu: just to say that, for example, we do a 90 second pause every 15 minutes
Malinson Bloobury: Do you speak on behalf of me when you speak?
    Eos Amaterasu: "we do"
Eos Amaterasu: local custom & raison d'etre
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eliza Madrigal thinks of the Lorax who speaks for the trees
Eos Amaterasu: or actually whatever we do is a proxy for what we mean to do
Malinson Bloobury: So as I sit in this area I am concenting for another to represent my mind?
Eos Amaterasu: Baobabs are kind of bulging trees?
    Malinson Bloobury: >consenting
Eliza Madrigal: :) Baobabs are amazing... they are often called 'upside down trees' because they look at times like roots are in the air
Eos Amaterasu: one does that for oneself, does't 1?
Eliza Madrigal: and it would take ten people to encircle, arms spread, one of the ones I saw today... astounding ! But sorry to interrupt
Malinson Bloobury: Did everyone get the poem?
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
    Lucinda Lavender: yes
Eliza Madrigal: yes, thankful for the courtesy :)
Malinson Bloobury: It teaches an important truth about compassion.
Eos Amaterasu: [19:00] Malinson Bloobury: The Mind is a Realm that Baffles the Eye, [19:00] Malinson Bloobury: Bringing Shape to an Illusion, [19:00] Malinson Bloobury: And Form to a Lie. [19:01] Malinson Bloobury: Buried in the Ground of karmic Invention, [19:01] Malinson Bloobury: Is a Seed of Purpose A goal of Intention. [19:01] Malinson Bloobury: The Baobab Stands as Mighty as the Best, [19:01] Malinson Bloobury: Bringing food with clothing and Shelter too Rest. [19:01] Malinson Bloobury: But Contained in the fruits of its tasty invention, [19:01] Malinson Bloobury: Are the Seeds of Purpose A goal of Intention.
Eos Amaterasu wonders about that intention
Malinson Bloobury: As one accepts the natures of the heart apart from the desire of the mind, one understands the nature of thier actions.
Malinson Bloobury: this is a very revealing aspect on who we are as compared to who we think we are.
    Lucinda Lavender: pondering it
Eos Amaterasu: Can you say more about the natures of the heart?
Lucinda Lavender: sometimes I seem to be this or that but maybe the truth is I am a being who sits at a table connecting with the others who intend to do the same. In this moment I hold this picture as it continues to seem to grow.
Eos Amaterasu: that's a beautiful intention
    Lucinda Lavender: smiles

    --BELL--

Eos Amaterasu: hold this picture as it continues to seem to grow.
Eos Amaterasu thinks of Baobabs troping, seeming to grow
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Eos Amaterasu: it's springtime, and there's all kinds of life coming on
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Lucinda Lavender: keep planting and watching:) must go for now:)
Eliza Madrigal: Thank you Luci :))
    Eos Amaterasu: Thnx Luci, bye
    Lucinda Lavender: bows to all:)
    Eliza Madrigal: treasures abound
    Eos Amaterasu: like kangaroos
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Eliza Madrigal: bounding around
Eliza Madrigal: Another interesting thing about a baobab is that the inside is very spongy
Eos Amaterasu: retains lots of water?
stevenaia Michinaga: brb, need a visual reference :)
Eliza Madrigal: and elephants know this, so they break through to eat it
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: and the bottom looks very similar to an elephant's foot
Eliza Madrigal: they've hollowed them out to make prisons before, in earlier times and more primitive places
    Eos Amaterasu: http://images.google.com/search?tbm=...i=g10&aql=&oq=
Eos Amaterasu: yes, I used to read stories about them when I was a kid
    stevenaia Michinaga: thx
Eliza Madrigal wonders if Sunshine has them around where she lives
    Eliza Madrigal: stories?
Eos Amaterasu: maybe Tintin, african flavored....
Eos Amaterasu: leared a lot of world geography from the Tintin comics
    Eos Amaterasu: *learned
Eliza Madrigal: ah, nice way to learn!
Eos Amaterasu: like learning from Indiana Jones
    Eliza Madrigal: connecting spark
Eos Amaterasu: I guess such a tree could be a helpful part of your family
Eliza Madrigal: it stretches the imagination because one feels so tiny next to it
Eliza Madrigal: and the images with people near them seem to speak the most (in the page posted)
Eos Amaterasu: even the elephant next to a tree seems small
    Eliza Madrigal: yes!
Eos Amaterasu thinks of the tree in Avatar
Eliza Madrigal: it is a tree a grown up can be a kid around

    --BELL--

Eos Amaterasu: 19:44] Eliza Madrigal: it is a tree a grown up can be a kid around
    Eliza Madrigal: :)) re Avatar
Eos Amaterasu: it is a world a grown up can be a kid around
Malinson Bloobury: What is it about being a kid that appeals too you?
Eliza Madrigal grins from ear to ear
Eos Amaterasu: that's a great question
    Eliza Madrigal: indeed
    Eos Amaterasu: not knowing
Eliza Madrigal: sense of wonder perhaps Malison
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eos Amaterasu: heh ehe
Eliza Madrigal: being able to forget oneself playing
Malinson Bloobury: They have yet to loose the hope and inspiration that is so much drummed out of adult like.
    Malinson Bloobury: >life
Eos Amaterasu: they don't need to ignore life, or be or stay ignorant of it, but they don't buy into it
Eos Amaterasu: it's still a plastic world :-)
Malinson Bloobury: They are two of the three elements that bind a society, a family and even or spirit together.
Paradise Tennant: smiles and says thank you to everyone for the company and conversation .. namaste my friends :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: night Paradise
    Eos Amaterasu: bye Paradise
Eliza Madrigal: Night Paradise, lovely gown
    Eos Amaterasu: yes
Paradise Tennant: sweet dreams all :)
Eliza Madrigal: thinking about the way a child plays, grabbing what comes up and seeing it new
Eos Amaterasu: springtime has lots of child aspects
    Eliza Madrigal: hmmmmm
Eos Amaterasu: like baby raccoons in the attic :-)
    Eliza Madrigal: aw... bit puzzling?
Malinson Bloobury: Such a feeling can be achieved in adult life as we let go of our minds desire and see reality as it is, not as we wish it to be.
    Eos Amaterasu: hah, yes!
Eos Amaterasu: but that can be experienced as disappointment, too
Malinson Bloobury: dissapointment comes from not getting what you desire.
    Eos Amaterasu: yes
Eliza Madrigal: broken spells when someone yells to come in
Eos Amaterasu: the spell is broken
    Eos Amaterasu: so you're disappointed
Eos Amaterasu: but then open and fresh
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eos Amaterasu: peering around
    Eos Amaterasu: whiskers extended
    Eliza Madrigal twitches nose instinctively
Malinson Bloobury: disappointment is a symptom of the state of mind.
    stevenaia Michinaga: symptom of expectations
Eos Amaterasu: there's always little stuff we still hang on to
Eos Amaterasu: and from point of view of hanging on it's disappointing to let it go
Eos Amaterasu: we l ike our sweets
    Eos Amaterasu: and our sours
Eliza Madrigal: :) broken spells can make way for freshness, yes... broken spells and broken shells
    Eos Amaterasu: broken hearted
Eos Amaterasu: the universe got through
Eliza Madrigal: :) happy sad sleepy smile
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
