Listening to dream video and not much time for reading. Went to Perfect Paradise Island last night for their 10th anniversary party. Some old faces but didn't know many of them. I had lunch with a friend who left his job and lives in a motorhome (RV)with a little dog (Rio) he picked up in Spain as a stray. He has been doing this for over 6 years now and enjoys the freedom. He usually comes back to the UK to work during the summer and spends the winter in Spain and Portugal. A kind of hippy existence. I envy him in some ways. I used to have a small motorhome myself but never got out of Ireland in it. But it was great to be able to come home from work on Friday, throw a few things into it and drive off around the West coast of Ireland.
Content after dream session, as though it seems more whole to me, to (try to) include "both sides" of consciousness into discussions. As I've been paying attention to isolation, what has come more clear is what keeps the 'sense' of connection at bay at times. As Riddle and others have pointed out, it isn't that there 'is' much isolation in my life, but perhaps there aren't many occasions when 'whole self', including the beyond-self/selves we often grapple with are fully in play. Those 'moments of lucidity', I suppose, are rare and precious for everyone. Namaste'.
"... in the absence of the play-spirit civilization is impossible."
With that in mind, I've finished the chapter of Homo Ludens entitled Play and War.
I now move on to a new shorter chapter, which may yet be rewarding: Play and Knowing.
