The Guardian for this meeting was Storm Nordwind. The comments are by Storm Nordwind, who notes: "The session title is nothing to do with the main topic - which just seemed to be Olympic chatter - or the famous song, but - being lazy - I couldn't think of another!"

    Storm Nordwind: Good morning Eliza!
    Eliza Madrigal: Morning Storm :))
Eliza Madrigal: All well and happy?
Storm Nordwind: yes - thank you for asking! :))
    Storm Nordwind: And you?

    Helping with others' events.

Eliza Madrigal: All is 'okay' ... have just been asked to answer a few questions at the event I shared in the PaB email group
Eliza Madrigal: said yes for some reason, hah
Storm Nordwind: Oh dear! More work ;)
Eliza Madrigal: :) well iit sounds interesting and if there is something for me to offer I'm happy to
Eliza Madrigal: I really enjoy the group
Storm Nordwind: Yes it does. The last time we did that sort of thing was several years ago, for the Commonwealth group
Eliza Madrigal: one of the talks is facilitated by a PaB guardian - Ewan
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, did PaB or Kira have a set-up there?
Storm Nordwind: Yes we did. Or kira did. That is, in fact, how Eos joined us!
    Eliza Madrigal: ohh that's right...
Eliza Madrigal: he heard rumors of Phenomenology in SL :))
Storm Nordwind: Yes I've heard rumors too ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Eliza Madrigal: I actually met Eos first, at a Peacemaker Zendo meditation
Eliza Madrigal: which was associated with Commonwealth - the prison outreach, etc
    Storm Nordwind: Interesting!

    One manifestation.

Storm Nordwind: Your tag says "Not really Eliza". What or who are you really? :)
Eliza Madrigal: always a good question, that
Eliza Madrigal: trying to keep Eliza in check, lol
Storm Nordwind: I never know what the asker means when that question comes up anyway!
Storm Nordwind: Eliza has been causing problems? ;)
Eliza Madrigal: remind typist that eliza is one manifestation, perhaps
Eliza Madrigal: not the boss, lol
    Storm Nordwind chuckles

    Angry emails.

Storm Nordwind: Good morning Riddle! :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Riddle :))
    Riddle Sideways: Hi ya'll
Eliza Madrigal: lovely to see you Riddle, what's new? :))
Riddle Sideways: just sitting here is restful enough
    Storm Nordwind smiles
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Riddle Sideways: was having the great desire to write a bunch of angry emails
    Eliza Madrigal: oh my
    Storm Nordwind: Oh dear
Riddle Sideways: but, maybe sit here quietly instead
    Eliza Madrigal: good plan
Storm Nordwind: if you have the chance, perhaps sleep on it
Eliza Madrigal: or write them and then sleep on it
    Eliza Madrigal: then edit :)
Storm Nordwind: yes. never hit send straightaway, especially late at night
Riddle Sideways: maybe that was it. having slept on them, am now very angry
    Eliza Madrigal: oh goodness
    Storm Nordwind: uhoh

    What the topic is.

Riddle Sideways: but please, this is not the topic
Storm Nordwind: I must apologize... I don't remember discerning what the week's topic is. or has it be pushed aside by the lab experiments?
    --BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: actually, if PaB accomplishes the tangible result of helping you not to write angry emails you may not feel great about later, it is lab-worthy :)
Eliza Madrigal: the topic is the quality of mercy, I think...
    Eliza Madrigal checks
Storm Nordwind: Ah... you mean the thing that's not strained? :)
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Blu
    Storm Nordwind: Good morning Bleu!
    Bleu Oleander: hi everyone :)
    Eliza Madrigal: yes Storm :))
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu
Storm Nordwind: thank you again for covering this session last week!
    Bleu Oleander: my pleasure Storm
Eliza Madrigal: Bleu preesentation has worlds fair qualities somehow
Bleu Oleander: worlds fair ... interesting!
Eliza Madrigal: not sure why that springs to mind but it really does :)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Storm Nordwind: Hi Alfred!
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Alfred
    Bleu Oleander: hiya mighty
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Riddle Sideways: ah, Migthy Pirate
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, "not really" - what group is that?
Eliza Madrigal: it is called "Subtext"
Storm Nordwind supposes "Alfred's "Space Pioneer" tag is better than "Space Cadet" ;)
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, a new group?
Eliza Madrigal: a two member group ;-)
    Alfred Kelberry: ah, ok
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eliza Madrigal: just me and my shadow

The joys of a new computer.

Storm Nordwind thinks to put shadows on to see how it looks...
    Riddle Sideways starts tap-dancing
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Storm Nordwind: Oh wow

    Moon shadow...

    Shortcomings in Olympic viewing.

Alfred Kelberry: storm, do you wish you'd be in england for the olympics?
    Eliza Madrigal looks for boulevard
Storm Nordwind: No Alf... though if I were an Olympics fan with no tech-savvy, I'd be serious upset by NBC's coverage of the Olympics in the US
Alfred Kelberry: what's wrong with nbc?
Eliza Madrigal: the best thing is, even the non media savvy are upset...
Eliza Madrigal: so it draws attention
Storm Nordwind: Thoroughly incompetent and high inverse signal to noise ratio in my opinion Alf
Eliza Madrigal: and such strong coverage of US at expense of a lot
    Alfred Kelberry: incompetent cometary?
    Storm Nordwind: yes
Eliza Madrigal: removing tribute to 7/7 victims without so much as word...
    Alfred Kelberry: what victims?
    Eliza Madrigal: "not US"
Riddle Sideways: and the Twitter trouble
Alfred Kelberry: try this instead: http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/london2012/
Storm Nordwind: Let me give you a very simple example of incompetence. They show an onscreen map of England where a soccer event is taking place, to show its relation to the main events. The soccer match is in Coventry. The main events are in London. But their map shows London at least 110km north of where it is!
Alfred Kelberry: live broadcast and you can choose what sport (arena) to watch
    Alfred Kelberry: haha
Riddle Sideways: that stream is not available in USA,
Storm Nordwind: Best is BBC coverage, by a very long way. they have all events live plus catch up and interactive info. But you need VPN access to a UK IP address to get it :)
Eliza Madrigal: I have to go... son has virtual school to begin....
    Storm Nordwind: OK Bye Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal: nice to be here for a while though!
    Eliza Madrigal: Hugs
    Bleu Oleander: bye Eliza :)
Alfred Kelberry: well, geography is a known strong side of the u.s. :)
    Riddle Sideways: bye
Storm Nordwind: Anyway, contact me privately if you want to know how to get the stream live in the US ;)
    --BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: i know how, but i'm perfectly content with eurovision :)

    Atrocity.

Alfred Kelberry: what was the 7/7 victims thing that eliza mentioned?
Storm Nordwind: It was a terrorist atrocity in London several years ago
    Alfred Kelberry: ah
    Alfred Kelberry: subway related?
    Storm Nordwind: Multiple
    Alfred Kelberry: right
Alfred Kelberry: chinese performance is quite impressive
Alfred Kelberry: 21st century superpower :)

    Wanting to catch up.

Storm Nordwind: So... on more PaB related subjects, what has been happening here in the last week or so? What's to discuss? :)
Storm Nordwind watches moon shadows creep over the pool
Alfred Kelberry: i haven't been on much last week
    Bleu Oleander: shadows :)
Alfred Kelberry: been busy traveling :)
Storm Nordwind: OH. Good traveling, or stuff you could do without?
Alfred Kelberry: um... traveling i could do without? is it like a business trip?
Alfred Kelberry: mine was of pure fun and leisure :)
Storm Nordwind: Pleased to hear it :)
    Riddle Sideways: nice
Alfred Kelberry: it's nice to see how disciplined the north korean team is during the anthem :)
    Storm Nordwind smiles
Alfred Kelberry: they turn to the flag, stand straight and sing
Storm Nordwind enjoyed the performance of the new Olympic women's sabre champion, but is unaware whether she's from North or South Korea.

    Gaffe.

Alfred Kelberry: you hear about the north korean flag mishap?
Storm Nordwind: No. perhaps you can tell us?
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Alfred Kelberry: at a football game they showed the south korean flag when presenting a north korean player :)
    Storm Nordwind: oops
Alfred Kelberry: worst possible mistake :)
Alfred Kelberry: the north korean team refused to come on the field until it was fixed
    --BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: the game delayed for an hour
Alfred Kelberry: even the prime minister made a statement apologizing :)
    Storm Nordwind: Fair enough
Riddle Sideways: on the one hand it is so nice to see them sing along with an anthem
Riddle Sideways: but also nice to see all countruies get together in peaceful games
    Storm Nordwind: Yes Riddle :)
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Riddle Sideways: gottz to go, bye
    Bleu Oleander: c u ... take care
    Storm Nordwind waves
    Bleu Oleander waves
    Storm Nordwind: Bye Riddle, Bleu

    Brainwashing.

Alfred Kelberry: i wonder if north korea provides cash prizes for the medalists
Alfred Kelberry: i also look at their faces and wonder if any of them think to defect
Storm Nordwind: Do they have a record of doing so?
Alfred Kelberry: on the olympics? not sure
Storm Nordwind: Arch! How good to see you :))
    Alfred Kelberry: mr arch
Alfred Kelberry: storm, here's a good answer, i think: http://www.quora.com/Defection/Do-th...ch-as-Olympics
Storm Nordwind: And welcome Hikari and Koya :)
Archmage Atlantis: There is no crying in baseball :)
Archmage Atlantis: Hello Alfred,, Storm....u 2 tchies
Storm Nordwind: Alf, seems like a biased answer that would warrant a [citation needed] tag on Wikipedia!
Alfred Kelberry: storm, it's plausible though
Storm Nordwind: Brainwashing works both ways. Who knows. I haven't been there

    Freedom.

Alfred Kelberry: here's from another article: "In the 2008 Beijing Olympics athletes were reportedly not allowed out of their Olympic compound except for training or events. John Canzano of the Oregonian spoke to some from the North Korea camp and found that athletes were not allowed to mingle with other athletes, and sight-seeing and other cultural events were strictly banned."
Archmage Atlantis: Alf, those of us who seek freedom find a way
    Storm Nordwind smiles at Arch
Archmage Atlantis: We may even become Mighty Pirates
Storm Nordwind: Yes, and I didn't move here to find freedom! ;)
Alfred Kelberry: not mightier than me! :P
Alfred Kelberry: storm, the freedom found you? :)
    Storm Nordwind: Freedom was me
    Alfred Kelberry: oh... profound :)
    --BELL--
Storm Nordwind: Just for you Alf :)
Archmage Atlantis: Is still you, Mr. Nordwind
Storm Nordwind: Yes indeed Arch :)
    Archmage Atlantis: gotts go,
Storm Nordwind: Thanks for stopping by :)
Alfred Kelberry: well, thank you for the company
Alfred Kelberry: i'll be off now
Storm Nordwind: A pleasure to see you Alf :)
