The Guardian for this meeting was Riddle Sideways. The comments are by Riddle Sideways joined by Alfred and Bleu. In which we mostly sat together and read something else.
Riddle Sideways: arrrrh, a Mighty Pirate approaches
Riddle Sideways: how is the new title working out?
Riddle Sideways: does it command greater respect, honor and riches?
Riddle Sideways: or is it too early in the experiment to tell/report?

Alfred Kelberry: people do notice :)

Riddle Sideways: nice to have a puppy run to greet you
Bleu Oleander: yes!
Alfred Kelberry: "Over two centuries, more than seven million Germans left Bremerhaven for foreign lands, mostly America."
Riddle Sideways: ty, did not know that
Bleu Oleander: what are you reading "mighty p"?
Alfred Kelberry: "To save money, I traveled by coal freighter from Virginia, a 13-day trip across the heaving Atlantic to Bremerhaven" - that must had been an interesting experience :)
Alfred Kelberry: bleu, on the german model economy: http://www.handelsblatt.com/politik/...66662-all.html
Alfred Kelberry: a lengthy article
Riddle Sideways: what are you reading, Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: I'm reading "Ignorance" ... a book Pema recommended
Bleu Oleander: prof at Columbia in NYC
Bleu Oleander: Pema spoke at one of his classes on "Ignorance"
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: old cliche about "Ignorance is bliss" comes to mind
Bleu Oleander: ignorance not in that sense exactly
Bleu Oleander: more a condition of knowledge
Bleu Oleander: the absence of act or clarity about something
Bleu Oleander: causes us to frame better questions
Bleu Oleander: how science proceeds
Riddle Sideways: /listens for more
Bleu Oleander: half way through the book :)

Bleu Oleander: short cut for those that don't read books :)
Bleu Oleander: he says ignorance follows knowledge not the other way around
Bleu Oleander: questions more relevant than answers
Bleu Oleander: quotes Socrates, "I know one thing, that I know nothing"
Bleu Oleander: I can relate to that!
Bleu Oleander: he says forget the answers, work on the questions
Bleu Oleander: find pleasure in mystery
Bleu Oleander: cultivate doubt
Bleu Oleander: interesting book
Alfred Kelberry: i think the choice of the word "ignorance" in the title was more of a pr move :)
Bleu Oleander: mentions Pema
Bleu Oleander: yes, he acknowledges that
Alfred Kelberry: it is a synonym of curiosity in the book
Bleu Oleander: yes curiosity
Bleu Oleander: but ignorance sells more books perhaps
Bleu Oleander: he mentions "Flatland" ... have you read that?
Alfred Kelberry: a poor choice in my view as it allows for a broad interpretation. up to riddle's "ignorance is a bliss".
Bleu Oleander: wonderful little book
Alfred Kelberry: ah, yes. flatland. about 2d creatures?
Bleu Oleander: yes, one could interpret that way ... as in "OK" to be uninformed
Bleu Oleander: yes 2D world
Riddle Sideways: Flatland one of favs
Bleu Oleander: relates it to string theory
Bleu Oleander: 11 dimensions
Alfred Kelberry: string theory is a nice philosophical exercise
--BELL--
Bleu Oleander: many points in the book that we could discuss ... perhaps some will read it
Bleu Oleander: also reading "Incomplete Nature" by Terrence Deacon
Bleu Oleander: great book so far
Bleu Oleander: well, enough about me ... what are you reading?
Bleu Oleander: perhaps save that for next time?
Bleu Oleander: have to get going
Bleu Oleander: nice to see you both
Bleu Oleander: take care
Bleu Oleander: bye bye
Riddle Sideways: bye and thanks
Alfred Kelberry: right, off me go as well
