Eliza Madrigal: log isn't posted yet
Bleu Oleander: ok will read later :)

Lucinda Lavender: Luci has had a very emotional week
Eliza Madrigal: Twitchy had mentioned that she approaches things from an emotional place, and I liked that angle. I've been doing a lot of peace reading lately and it felt really relevant
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh?
    Bleu Oleander: how so Luci?
Lucinda Lavender: due to loss of my son's childhood buddy to drug overdose...I cared for hima as a young child in our house 10 hour days 3 days a week as an 18 month old
Bleu Oleander: oh I'm so sorry Luci

Lucinda Lavender: they were 2 months apart. son is just 21 and this fellow will be turning 21 in a few weeks
Bleu Oleander: oh my ... so young
Lucinda Lavender: there will be a celebration of his life on the day before his birthday
    Eliza Madrigal: troubled generally, Luci?
    Lucinda Lavender: probably yes

Lucinda Lavender: I wanted to ask you both...
Lucinda Lavender: have you heard of Simon Amstel
    Lucinda Lavender: ?
    Bleu Oleander: no
    Eliza Madrigal: nor I
    Lucinda Lavender: stand up comedienne
Lucinda Lavender: cannot spell that word
Eliza Madrigal: you used the sophisticated spelling, for a female stand up :D
Lucinda Lavender: well if I can find the link...i will share it
    Bleu Oleander: http://www.simonamstell.co.uk/

    --BELL--

    Bleu Oleander: me too
Lucinda Lavender: he was saying...death is coming for us...
Lucinda Lavender: found it all insightful

Bleu Oleander: am reading a wonderful book
Eliza Madrigal: thanks for the pointer Luci. Comedy can be disarming
    Lucinda Lavender: which book Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: "why does the world exist" by Jim Holt
Eliza Madrigal: OOohhhh like this guy
    Lucinda Lavender: sounds good!

    Lucinda Lavender: interesting
Bleu Oleander: so of course had to read it haha
    Lucinda Lavender: :))

Lucinda Lavender: I have no kitchen floor at the moment...am torn up in more than one way
Bleu Oleander: I was in tears at one part
Eliza Madrigal: http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/12487 <--whilst I heard of him from Charlie
    Lucinda Lavender: listens
Bleu Oleander: why is there something and not nothing is the books theme
Bleu Oleander: yes, saw the intereview
    Lucinda Lavender: great question

Eliza Madrigal: what was so moving for you Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: interviews some great people in the book
Lucinda Lavender: that is my question too
    Bleu Oleander: including John Updike
Bleu Oleander: in the middle of discussing how the universe could come from nothing
    Lucinda Lavender: nodding
Bleu Oleander: he gets a call about his dog
    Bleu Oleander: very moving
Bleu Oleander: having gone through that several times
    Eliza Madrigal: aw
Bleu Oleander: his mother also dies during the writing of the book
Bleu Oleander: quite amazing accounts of both
Lucinda Lavender: sounds helpful to me at this time

Bleu Oleander: he interviews many times of people
    Lucinda Lavender: thanks
Bleu Oleander: religious, scientists, writers ...
Eliza Madrigal: love that phrase... you have wonderful typos Bleu
    Eliza Madrigal: "times of people"
    Bleu Oleander: haha
    Bleu Oleander: types

Eliza Madrigal: one thing he says is that sufficiently contemplated, the question is completely unnerving
    Eliza Madrigal: destabalzing
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: have found that to be true
Eliza Madrigal: have as well.... brought me to go back and listen to a TED from a few years ago, from Elizabeth Gilbert who wrote Eat Pray Love - this question of creative genius
    Eliza Madrigal: and unhinging
Bleu Oleander: one of my favorite books I've read this year

Bleu Oleander: haven't read Eat Pray Love ... have you?
Eliza Madrigal: she addresses the idea that genius is a quality or characteristic of a 'person' or 'self' ....
Eliza Madrigal: I did, found it 'nice'
    Eliza Madrigal: but not 'wow'
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eliza Madrigal: the TED is great though
Bleu Oleander: i'll watch it ... thx
Lucinda Lavender: I read it a long time back now...have forgotten much
Eliza Madrigal: it is one of those books that 'parts of' are wonderful - stand out moments
Eliza Madrigal: she uses humor well
Bleu Oleander: we should have a page on the wiki for PaBers favorite books
Eliza Madrigal: yes or an ongoing "what we are reading' message board of some sort
Lucinda Lavender: :)) great idea. and movies
    Eliza Madrigal: ooh, yes
    Bleu Oleander: yes!

Lucinda Lavender: winter is coming...time of indoor time
Lucinda Lavender: tho not for a while
Eliza Madrigal: if you saw my guardian session notice I was thinking we might begin some focused sessions if we liked... in ways that don't require everyone to read whole books but we can share
Eliza Madrigal: winter is outdoor time here :)
Bleu Oleander: I really enjoyed Pema's recommendation, "Ignorance"
Bleu Oleander: we've scheduled a salon in rl on the topic

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: indoor time is summer for us :))
Eliza Madrigal: yes here too, pretty much :))
Lucinda Lavender: I was thinking about that:)
Lucinda Lavender: with the shortness of daylight here...less done outside I think

Eliza Madrigal: http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/eli...on_genius.html <-- the TED
    Lucinda Lavender: thanks Eliza
    Bleu Oleander: ah ty Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: :) seems to be a resource sharing day
    Lucinda Lavender: great!
Bleu Oleander: I like that when it happens
    Lucinda Lavender: love it!
Eliza Madrigal: yes... inspiration on the loose, hopscotching minds
    Bleu Oleander: great!
Lucinda Lavender: boiling of the pot
    Eliza Madrigal smiles

Bleu Oleander: of course does cut into rl work some ...
    Bleu Oleander: haha
Lucinda Lavender: will have to go in a minute.too
Bleu Oleander: sooo many interesting things!
Eliza Madrigal: :) becomes RL work also
    Bleu Oleander: yes
    Lucinda Lavender: yes!
Eliza Madrigal: "the work is to find your work and give yourself to it"
    Eliza Madrigal: something like that...
    Bleu Oleander: exactly
    Lucinda Lavender: mostly have done
Eliza Madrigal: or "Inspiration exists, but it must find you working" Picasso
Lucinda Lavender: I find reading more challenging
    Bleu Oleander: like that quote!

Lucinda Lavender: remember the description of a writer who said she could seen the ideas coming at her across a field...so would have to run to get the paper and pen

    Bleu Oleander: great one!
Eliza Madrigal: yes! that story is in this ted talk actually... a poet
    Bleu Oleander: nice
Bleu Oleander: well have to go
