Korel Laloix: Heya
Eos Amaterasu: Hi, Korel
Korel Laloix: You scared them off this time... smiles
Eos Amaterasu: heh heh
Eos Amaterasu: It's okay being alone with stillness :-)
Korel Laloix: I preffer being alone with motion.... but then again... my running is my alone time.
Eos Amaterasu: ah, yes, used to run....
Eos Amaterasu: now I walk.... analog (no devices)... in the woods.... ground is soft under foot....
Eos Amaterasu: some kind of recall of life being (literally) surrounded by life
Korel Laloix: There are somedays that I use earbuds.. especially if I want to push it.. but if I just want the run... then I go without.
Eos Amaterasu: yes... a few times I've used an iPhone app that lets you play with the sounds around
Eos Amaterasu: that's really deeply virtual, somehow
Korel Laloix: Well for me, I will put on some really good running music.
Eos Amaterasu: you're co-creating a new kind of experience
Eos Amaterasu: Born to Run?
--BELL--
Korel Laloix: Not sure born for it.. but it has been part of my life for a very long time.
Eos Amaterasu: My brother used to do this run that was originally done by the native americans, from Tahoe to Sacramento, across altitude, streams, darkness..... if you do it in under 24 hours you get a belt buckle
Korel Laloix: lol.. A good redneck sort of trophy.. I like it.
Korel Laloix: Reeba has all of hers mounted on plaques on her dorm room wall.
Eos Amaterasu: there's something about finding ourselves on the edge of physical possibility
Eos Amaterasu: mind/body very fluid there
Korel Laloix: What do you mean the edge?
Eos Amaterasu: the limits of what you can do
Korel Laloix: Oh yes...
Korel Laloix: Like pushing in a marathon.
Eos Amaterasu: so maybe you lose all the unnecessary stuff
Eos Amaterasu: yeah.... how do you experience that?
Korel Laloix: Painfully .. at least the last four miles worth...
Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Korel Laloix: The frist 16 or so are fun.
Eos Amaterasu: One of my favorite lines is from a Brian Eno song, "Taking Tiger Mountain, by Strategy": "we climbed and we climbed and we climbed, oh how we climbed"
Korel Laloix: Then the next 2 get old..
Korel Laloix: THe rest is just painful.
Korel Laloix looking up
Korel Laloix: never heard of him.
Eos Amaterasu: I saw a documentary once, featured this woman who was climbing world's highest mountains. K2 is second highest mountain in the world, maybe the toughest. She said "I found myself there, on <name of slope>". Next climb she vanished.
Eos Amaterasu: I can still hear her voice saying that.
Korel Laloix: Soudns like a silly thing to do.. and dealy.
Eos Amaterasu: What if you don't find yourself before you die?
Korel Laloix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXuyJwl5Nc0
Korel Laloix: I think I am already with myself... so not worried about that.
Eos Amaterasu: Do you think of yourself as in process of transformation?
--BELL--
Korel Laloix: Not any more.
Korel Laloix: As I posted yesterday I think... I have had three huge changes in my life..... and I can't see another on my horizon right now.
Eos Amaterasu: (did not see that)
Korel Laloix: Even with graduating and possible getting into a civil union with Reeba... Those will be changes, but not on the scale that I have change in the past.
Korel Laloix: How about you?.. transformation in view?
Eos Amaterasu: seems like a lot of forms are being slipped out from under me
Eos Amaterasu: turns out all forms are banana peels :-)
Eos Amaterasu: yes, I think I'm in a major in-between phase.... no direction home....
Korel Laloix: Is this a good or bad thing?
Eos Amaterasu: perhaps it brings some humour, which enlightens the gap
Eos Amaterasu: "if I knew the way, I would take you home"
Eos Amaterasu: (sometimes I think in song lyrics :-)
Korel Laloix: What is that from?
Eos Amaterasu: Ripple (Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia)
Korel Laloix: Heya

Korel Laloix: What I have on right now.
stevenaia Michinaga: I am listening to Spirit at the moment, Eos remembers them
Eos Amaterasu: actually never really knew that group....
Korel Laloix: Never heard of them.'
stevenaia Michinaga: hmm, thought that would be something from you deep dark past
Eos Amaterasu: Cool, Korel. I raise you MC5 live at Finnish Hall in Berkeley, CA....
Eos Amaterasu: (eventually I left from fear of ear damage, during a song called "Hydrogen Bomb")
Eos Amaterasu: "energy fools the magician" - Brian Eno
Korel Laloix: Have a link?
Eos Amaterasu: hmm, that's in memory somewhere:
stevenaia Michinaga: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtlSD-DLq4g
--BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: so 60's, I know
Korel Laloix: Oh.. the 60s... I was like negative 20 then... smiles
Eos Amaterasu: what a concept!
stevenaia Michinaga: see, you did metarphise
Korel Laloix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxDew4wfcAs
Korel Laloix: Another transformation for me was musically...
Eos Amaterasu listens
stevenaia Michinaga: here is my favorite soundtrack
stevenaia Michinaga: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvZgu4KFuoQ
Korel Laloix: I used to listen to a lot of extremely unhealthily stuff.. grindcore and the like.
Korel Laloix: I was a "corps bride" for a while as well.... female fan of the group Cannibale Corps.
Korel Laloix: SO when I became a Christian.. I had a need to drop that sort of stuff.
Santoshima Resident: 's current display-name is "San".
Korel Laloix: Luckily there is a lot of great Christian Metal to listen to .
stevenaia Michinaga: this was an interesting movie if you ever get a chance to see it
Korel Laloix: Which one.
stevenaia Michinaga: Orlando
Eos Amaterasu: hmm
Korel Laloix: OK.. will look on netflicks.
Eos Amaterasu: hi santo
stevenaia Michinaga: hello San
Korel Laloix: But taking all of that hate and twistedness out of my life was a change by itself.
Santoshima Resident: hello eos, korel, stevie
Eos Amaterasu: music is such a powerful emotional language
Korel Laloix: Heya
Korel Laloix: I don't think a lot of peopel realize that.
Korel Laloix: Music can be very far from neutral.
Eos Amaterasu: but also for many people going to concerts is a kind of religious experience
stevenaia Michinaga: music takes you places that nothing else can
Eos Amaterasu: As Mickey Hart (of the Grateful Dead) said, "we're in the transportation business"
stevenaia Michinaga: a love performance can be like that
stevenaia Michinaga: live
stevenaia Michinaga: hehe
Eos Amaterasu: heh heh
Korel Laloix: Well.. never go to a Cannible Corpse concert...
stevenaia Michinaga: lol
Korel Laloix: Trust me on that one.
Eos Amaterasu: plus music drives shamanic practices
Eos Amaterasu makes mental note
Korel Laloix: Can you say more about that Eos?
Eos Amaterasu: drumming, for example, plays a huge role
Eos Amaterasu: or chanting, singing
Korel Laloix: OK.. yes.. we have those in our traditions.
Korel Laloix: Certain kinds of drums and chants for certain things.
Korel Laloix: Words have forms not just sounds.
Eos Amaterasu: how we drive or are driven by transformation
Korel Laloix: Or a lack there of.
Eos Amaterasu: indeed
--BELL--
Korel Laloix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msRy4vcSX4k
Eos Amaterasu: And I bid you good night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvxeXqvT-ZQ

Korel Laloix: Thanks for the company.
stevenaia Michinaga: night San
stevenaia Michinaga: certainly a musial adventure tonight
Korel Laloix: Oh I have lots... grins
stevenaia Michinaga: was reading about the Cannible Corpse, sounds like they had no problem offending
Korel Laloix: Good point... lol
Korel Laloix: They bill themselves as each song being its own short horror story.
Korel Laloix: One of my major wake up moments in life was standing at a CC concert.. maybe one of 10 women there....
Korel Laloix: And then the song Ribbing Entrails from a Virgin's Cunt came on.
Korel Laloix: Scarey moment looking back.
Korel Laloix: But one I needed I think... started me thinking about a lot of things.
Korel Laloix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJzHSg2ntFE
stevenaia Michinaga: :) sounds like the point
Korel Laloix: I still have the tshirt from that concert...
Korel Laloix: sort of a physical journal entry.
stevenaia Michinaga: started out sounding like Rob Zombie
Korel Laloix: This is HB.. the are Finnish and sing in Soumi and English both.
stevenaia Michinaga: where do you come across this
Korel Laloix: So many people from the US limit themselves to English or Spanish music.. silly
Korel Laloix: Mostly Christian metal groups
stevenaia Michinaga: awww
Korel Laloix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50B5Qr-E5nQ
--BELL--
