The Guardian for this meeting was Bruce Mowbray. The comments are by Bruce Mowbray.

    Qt Core: Hi Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Maude and Qt!
    DR42 Resident: ηαмαѕтє
    Qt Core: Hi Maude
Bruce Mowbray: I finally got out of Paris and reset Stellarium to my exact location in southern Ohio.

    ( note:  http://www.stellarium.org -- a superb astronomical program - and FREE!)

    --BELL--

Bruce Mowbray: I found the exact coordinates through GOOGLE Earth.
DR42 Resident: I set it to "Boston". Close enough.
Qt Core: to be honest Paris may be a little more interesting... but with more light pollution ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I do LOVE Paris...
Bruce Mowbray: but as soon as I set the new default,
Bruce Mowbray: the program showed me the precise scene I could see from my west-facing windows: the setting sun.
    Bruce Mowbray: amazing program!!!!
Bruce Mowbray: I clicked on the sun, and it gave lots of specs for the Sun.
    Bruce Mowbray: amazing.
Qt Core: It can even drive your telescope if he knows the type
DR42 Resident: Tuscon, AZ has zoning ordinances that restrict the types of outdoor lights people can use to cut light pollution at night.
    Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Wol!
Wol Euler: hello bruce, qt, maude
Bruce Mowbray: Sounds like a good idea to moi, Maude.
Qt Core: several Italian regions too and stricter rules for areas near telescopes
    Qt Core: hi wol
DR42 Resident: Kitt Peak observatory is really close, so they do it for them.
Qt Core: and as a bonus if you need to light only toward the ground you discover it is cheaper too
    Qt Core: hi wol
    Wol Euler nods.
    Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Zon!
    Zon Kwan: hi all
    Wol Euler: hello zon
Qt Core: sadly i already need to go bye all and dark skies!
Wol Euler: bye qt, observe well
Bruce Mowbray: Bye for now, Qt!
    DR42 Resident: bye
Bruce Mowbray: speaking of dark skies,
    Wol Euler: mmm?
Bruce Mowbray: I prefer the midnight sun setting in this sim.
Bruce Mowbray: otherwise, everything seems too bright.
Bruce Mowbray: maybe that's just my viewer, though.
Wol Euler: I don't find it distressingly bright
Wol Euler: midnight is pretty, though, with the torches shining
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, just switched to midday -- and can't see the torches so well now.
    Bruce Mowbray: (returning to midnight)....
Wol Euler: there is a huge bright light source above the fountain, which I permanently derendered. that makes it much nicer
    Bruce Mowbray looks upward....
    Bruce Mowbray: ahhh! La LUNA!!!

    7-28-2013 4-53-19 PM.png

Wol Euler: just about eye level, ctrl-alt-T to show transparent objects
Bruce Mowbray is trying to think of a good name for his new fish.
    Wol Euler: Spot :)
DR42 Resident: I found the snow emitter, but not the light source. What is it's name?
    DR42 Resident: Koi
Wol Euler: well, having derendered it, I now cannot find out :)
    Wol Euler grins.
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Koi is like a BIG goldfish, though.
DR42 Resident: If you look at your blacklist, it should be there.
Wol Euler: it's a fairly large sphere about two metres above the fountain, in the water jet
Bruce Mowbray: again, Bruce looks upward.
    DR42 Resident: Got it.
Bruce Mowbray: (sees the edge of Molecule Theater....)
Wol Euler: perhaps "Lamp and trickle for pagoda"
    Bruce Mowbray: AND THE MOON!!!
Wol Euler follows Bruce's gaze and smiles
Bruce Mowbray ponders "Spot" as an excellent  name for new fish.

    --BELL--

Bruce Mowbray: Unfortunately, this one doesn't have a hovertext that can announce its name. . . . (or maybe that's fortunate...)
DR42 Resident: You can add one.....
    Bruce Mowbray: really?
Wol Euler: if it's modifyable yes
Bruce Mowbray: that would be a script?
Wol Euler: it's a simple script
    Wol Euler: yes
    Bruce Mowbray: cooooloooo!
Wol Euler: just a sec, I
Wol Euler: I'll send you one
Bruce Mowbray: Oh wow! THANKS, Wol!
Bruce Mowbray: Thank you, too, Maude!
DR42 Resident: There you go. Replace "Spot" with the name of your choice. You can delete the script later.
    Bruce Mowbray: kk.
DR42 Resident: The name is part of the prim. The script simply sets it. So, if you remove the script later, the name will stick.
Wol Euler: heh that was fast :) well done
    Bruce Mowbray: Yayyyy!

    7-28-2013 4-50-03 PM.png
Bruce Mowbray: The text shows up nicely at night, too!
Wol Euler: if you want to tweak the script, you can make it any colour you want
    Bruce Mowbray: hmmmm.
Bruce Mowbray: Spot already has plenty of color, being a colorful fish, as it were.
DR42 Resident: Right after "Spot", it says something like <1.0,1.0,1.0> That is Red, Green, and Blue.
    Bruce Mowbray: kk.
Bruce Mowbray: So, simply insert the RGB color numbers?
    Wol Euler: yep
    Bruce Mowbray: cooooolooooo!
    Wol Euler: :)
    DR42 Resident: <1.0, 0.0, 0.0> would be red
    Bruce Mowbray: gotcha!
Wol Euler: you need to do a bit of math to get the fractions right
Bruce Mowbray: yeppers, I can see that I'd need to do some math....
Wol Euler: because colours are usually specified from 1 to 255 instead of 0.0 to 1.0
    Bruce Mowbray: yes.
Bruce Mowbray: I can see the numbers for colors as I pass the cursor over some place...
    Bruce Mowbray: (using Firestorm viewer...)
Wol Euler: yep :) very handy that. So you note the numbers and divide each by 255
    Bruce Mowbray: cooooloooo!
Bruce Mowbray notes that the hovertext doesn't wash away as Spot swims through the fountain.

    --BELL--

DR42 Resident: Bruce just passed Scripting 101.
Bruce Mowbray: The more my typist plays with the Firestorm viewer, the more he appreciates it.
Bruce Mowbray: Bye, Zon -- wherever you are.
DR42 Resident: Has your typist considered taking Firestorm classes?
    Bruce Mowbray: He has, yes.
Bruce Mowbray: So much to learn. . . so small a brain.
    Wol Euler: hehehehe
DR42 Resident: We each have knowledge in different areas.
Wol Euler: The only knowledge that a person *really* needs to have, is how to learn
    Bruce Mowbray: ahhhh!
Bruce Mowbray: So, the "secret" is having access.....
Wol Euler: given that, all else follows
DR42 Resident: That, and knowing what to kiss and when to kiss it.
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Bruce Mowbray: Here comes aggers.
Wol Euler: she may not come here, though
Wol Euler: often goes straight there to wait
Bruce Mowbray: Oh -- straight to Berti's place. Sure.
Bruce Mowbray: My typist likes to be an early arriver, too.
Wol Euler: fortunately transit time in SL is usually nearly zero
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm.
Bruce Mowbray: speed of light, as it were.
DR42 Resident: What is Berti's Place?
Bruce Mowbray: I'll give you an LM, Maude.
    Bruce Mowbray: There you are.
    DR42 Resident: ty
    Bruce Mowbray: yw!
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: I'm heading on over to Berti's now.
Bruce Mowbray: May all be safe and happy.
    Wol Euler: see you there
Wol Euler: bye Maude, unless you are coming along
Wol Euler: Berti does a 10 minute silent meditation every Sunday at 2pm
DR42 Resident: I will visit later, need to attend to cooking dinner
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: that too can be meditative, just do it mindfully :)
    Wol Euler: cook well
    DR42 Resident: bye
