The Guardian for this meeting was Agatha Macbeth. The comments are by Agatha Macbeth.

Bruce Mowbray: Yo, Aggers. Yo, Kori!
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Korel Laloix: HEYA
    Korel Laloix: Heya
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello dear
    Agatha Macbeth: Everything ok?
      --BELL--1500
    Agatha Macbeth: How's Brucie?
Korel Laloix: Great.... had a lovely time at the spa after class today... smiles
    Agatha Macbeth: Wow
Bruce Mowbray: Bruce is as well as can be expected. My brother died this week -- and the family is pulling together for arrangements.
    Agatha Macbeth: sounds good
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh no
    Korel Laloix: Oh ouch...
    Agatha Macbeth: I'm sorry
Bruce Mowbray: yes. But it really has been perfect.
    Bruce Mowbray: Thank you.
Korel Laloix: I knew things were not going well.. sorry for your loss Bruce.
    Bruce Mowbray: TY, Kori.
    Agatha Macbeth: Awww
Korel Laloix: How is your sisterinlaw doing?
Bruce Mowbray: These things things happen when you exceed 70, you know.
    Agatha Macbeth: Indeed
Bruce Mowbray: My brother's wife is a CHAMP -- and really wonderful in her resilience.
Agatha Macbeth: Glad to hear it
Korel Laloix: Some don't take it as well for sure.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, she's doing very well. . . and we are in touch with each other a few times every day.
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Agatha Macbeth: Great
Korel Laloix: How are you doing Bruce?
Bruce Mowbray: We're all grateful that it was quick . . . and no suffering involved.
Bruce Mowbray: I am pretty good, thanks.
Agatha Macbeth: That's always a consolation, yes
Korel Laloix: As can be expected is one thing..
Bruce Mowbray: Hospice is really great.
    Korel Laloix: OK...
Korel Laloix: Thoughts and prayers your way.
Bruce Mowbray: Thank you so much.
    Agatha Macbeth: Absolutely
Bruce Mowbray: I've been using a biofeedback device.
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh
Bruce Mowbray: It arrived before he died and I have been using it several ties each day through this week.
Bruce Mowbray: It is amazing how different meditation techniques produce different results on the device.
Agatha Macbeth: What exactly does it do?
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, San!
Santoshima Resident: hy Bruce! hello everyone
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello San
    Santoshima Resident: e
Bruce Mowbray: It computes a "coherence score" - - from pulse and breathing rate....
    Agatha Macbeth: Cheshire cat?
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Santoshima Resident: full on cat
Agatha Macbeth: Ah, I see (or rather I don't)
Agatha Macbeth: When I heard the purring I thought Arch had arrived
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Haven't seen Arch in too long a while.
    Santoshima Resident: missed him
Agatha Macbeth: He came to one of the guardian meetings recently

Brucie introduces what seems to become the topic

Bruce Mowbray: Do you think it is "fair" or "appropriate" to measure the quality of one's awareness through a bio-feedback machine?
    Santoshima Resident: sure, why not?
Santoshima Resident: appropriate in what way?
Bruce Mowbray: It seems to be working for moi.
Santoshima Resident: fair in what way?
Agatha Macbeth: I'm fascinated to know one can measure it at all! :p
Bruce Mowbray: oO0Oo mentioned the Random Number Generator in one of his emails, and this seems similar -- although FAR less expensive.
Agatha Macbeth: I have one of those....
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Wol!
    Agatha Macbeth: Wollie ♥
    Wol Euler: evening all
    Wol Euler: happy thursday
    Santoshima Resident: meow
    Agatha Macbeth: You too
    Wol Euler: awwwwwww
Bruce Mowbray: Happy Day of Thor!
    Wol Euler scritches San's ears
Bruce Mowbray: Kori must really be getting into the zone now . . .
    Santoshima Resident: :)
Agatha Macbeth: Hm, which zone would this be?
    Bruce Mowbray: ha ha!
Bruce Mowbray: She has landed again.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Qt!
    Wol Euler: hello qt
    Qt Core: Hi all
    Agatha Macbeth: Sera QT :)
    Bruce Mowbray: brb . . .
Wol Euler: bruce, aggers just told me about your brother. I'm so sorry to hear it.
Wol Euler reaches back and gives your hand a squeeze
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Agatha Macbeth: Me too
    Bruce Mowbray: [back]
    Agatha Macbeth: wb :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Thank you, Wol.
    Bruce Mowbray: Thank you, aggers.
    Wol Euler: <3
    Agatha Macbeth smiles
Agatha Macbeth: QT you look normal again
Bruce Mowbray feels genuinely comforted. . . So many have been so compassionate.
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Agatha Macbeth: :)

    That's what we're here for....

     --BELL--1315
Agatha Macbeth: Is that a mesh Av San?
    Santoshima Resident: yes
Santoshima Resident: sorry, sometimes firestorm locks my keyboard
Santoshima Resident: and freezes the sceen
Agatha Macbeth: Ah, that's why I only see the head and tail :p
    Santoshima Resident: so delayed reply
Agatha Macbeth: I get screen freezes too
    Bruce Mowbray: np.
    Agatha Macbeth: Damn annoying
Bruce Mowbray: Here is the biofeedback device I have been referring to:
    Bruce Mowbray: http://www.heartmathstore.com/cgi-bi...FWoZQgodFB4AGA
Bruce Mowbray: Very inexpensive -- but works amazingly well.
Agatha Macbeth: I'll try opening that without crashing
Bruce Mowbray: I'll catch you if you fall, aggers.
    Agatha Macbeth: TY ;-)
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: interesting, bruce
Bruce Mowbray: I guess the thing that surprises me most is that while meditating, if my mind wanders, the device picks it up IMMEDIATELY.
Bruce Mowbray: How can that be?
    Santoshima Resident: measuring ... heartrate?
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, pulse and breathing.
    Santoshima Resident: cool
Bruce Mowbray: Anyway, it's cheaper than a Zen master . . . hitting me with a stick.
    Agatha Macbeth: But how?
Qt Core: and kives out little elecrtoshock if you are doing it wrong ? ;-)
Agatha Macbeth: Oh like a lie detector?
    Wol Euler: heheheheheh
Bruce Mowbray: Yeah, a very simple lie detector.
Bruce Mowbray: actually, there is no "wrong" -- only relative measurements.
Bruce Mowbray: and I lie all the time, anyway.
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: so it probably wouldn't catch you
Bruce Mowbray: Oh, it has "caught" me innumerable times -- in only one week.
Wol Euler: they work on the basis that lying is a deviation from the (your) norm
Bruce Mowbray: yes, a baseline is required for that.
Bruce Mowbray: So, they ask you several "normal" questions first to get that baseline.
Bruce Mowbray: (I am referring to the lie detector -- not to the biofeedback device.)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hmm
Bruce Mowbray: Humming is also cool.
    Agatha Macbeth: It is?
    Bruce Mowbray: yeah.
Bruce Mowbray: But not a cool as "dropping."
Bruce Mowbray: (at least, not according to the bio-device.)
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Bruce Mowbray: Dropping is super-cool, according to the bio.
Agatha Macbeth: So it works then
Bruce Mowbray: best reading with that method.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, it really works!
    Agatha Macbeth: Yay
Bruce Mowbray: But it also helps. . ./
Bruce Mowbray: Not just a measurement, but also a way of modification. . .
Bruce Mowbray: That's what bio is all about, anyway. . . modification after monitoring.
    Wol Euler nods.
Bruce Mowbray: So, one gets this "sense" of what works.
Bruce Mowbray: and as soon as something distracts me, the device registers that.
    Wol Euler grins.
Bruce Mowbray: Anyone else got a topic today?
Korel Laloix: Bruce... do you find it creapy at all to have a machine that can read you?
Bruce Mowbray: Not at all, Kori.
Bruce Mowbray: But I find it very fascinating.
Korel Laloix: I feel sort of violated just thinking about it.
Bruce Mowbray: It is like a mirror.
Bruce Mowbray: But mirrors can only see the outside...
Bruce Mowbray: This thing apparently can also see the inside.
    Bruce Mowbray: also see*
    Wol Euler nods to Korel
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, it is a sort of intrusion.
Bruce Mowbray: but I have no problem with that.
Bruce Mowbray: Plugs can be pulled, of course.
    Korel Laloix: Interesting.
Korel Laloix: Not sure I would like that...
Korel Laloix: Might still give it a try though if the oportunity comes up.
Bruce Mowbray: The person using the device is always in control.
Bruce Mowbray: So just quit the session if you don't like it.
Bruce Mowbray: I have done that several times, actually.
      --BELL--1530
Korel Laloix: I think the actual doing it would feel harmless.. it is the larger idea that creaps me.
Bruce Mowbray wants to hear about the "larger idea" after this drop.
    Agatha Macbeth: Larger idea?
    Bruce Mowbray listens.
Qt Core: how different is from a cardio sensor for running ?
Bruce Mowbray: It is different, Qt.
Qt Core: as an idea i mean
Wol Euler: same machine but differnet use
Wol Euler: if I understand it rightly
Bruce Mowbray: It computes a "coherence score" -- not just a pulse rate.
Korel Laloix: I am not sure why I have a bad feeling about the idea.
Korel Laloix: I let srhinks into my head... so why am I resistant to a machine?
Qt Core: mine was almost a question for Korel
Bruce Mowbray: Well then, Kori, it would reflect back to you your "bad feeling." and then you could look more closely at that.
Bruce Mowbray: That's what I find most valuable about it.
Korel Laloix: Maybe how impersonal the intrusion is.
Korel Laloix: Like I am a specimin.
Bruce Mowbray: especially during this week -- of my brother's death, and all.
Qt Core: but then the need (of preference) for havingt an internet connection too... added to a quarter of paranoid thinking... big brother anyone ? ;-)
    Wol Euler nods.
    Bruce Mowbray nods.
    Agatha Macbeth smiles @ QT
Bruce Mowbray: Your score are entirely private -- no internet connection there.
    Bruce Mowbray: scores*
    Bruce Mowbray: scores*
Bruce Mowbray: Oh I got it right the second time!
Agatha Macbeth: And the first :p
Qt Core: the site says it is recomended but not necessary
Qt Core: but i was just playing the devil's advocate (a game i love)
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, recommended but not necessary. . . . otherwise all those dudes from eons ago would have had not success with their methods.
Wol Euler: well, any modern device is never really "off", they just go to sleep
Wol Euler: or so they tell you
Wol Euler: there is no way to know that your phone isn't listening to you right now, even though you think it's off
Bruce Mowbray wonders if his bio device sleeps.
Qt Core: that's why i have plugs with switches on them ;-)
    Korel Laloix smiles
Agatha Macbeth: Even if it's turned off?
Wol Euler: only if the battery is dead
Bruce Mowbray: Yeah, so important to know how to turn things OFF!
    Qt Core: or out
Wol Euler: you only have its word for it, that it is off
Bruce Mowbray: Turning things OFF is a way of dropping.
    Bruce Mowbray: maybe.
Wol Euler: it says "I am off now", but it might be lying
Agatha Macbeth ponders a lying phone
Bruce Mowbray: That time is coming soon, Wol.
Wol Euler: may well be here already
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Purple!
    Wol Euler: hello Puck
    Purple Quartz: Hi people
    Korel Laloix: heya
    Qt Core: Hi Purple
    Bruce Mowbray: Please be welcome.
    Purple Quartz: Thanks
Wol Euler: have you been here before?
    Purple Quartz: Hm..I'm not sure
Bruce Mowbray loves the green tennis shoes -- the green "trainers."
Purple Quartz: my memory isn't that great
Agatha Macbeth: I'll give you a notecard about us
Purple Quartz: Thanks..I'll add it to my collection
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, Purple. . . You are most welcome here, but we do need you "OK" to publish anything you might say in our on-line wiki.
    Purple Quartz grins
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, we record our sessions here
    Purple Quartz: Sure
    Agatha Macbeth: Thank you
Bruce Mowbray: It is a requirement of SL, actually.
    Santoshima Resident: { the pool, the fountain, the friendly, intelligent people ... unforgettable! }
    Bruce Mowbray: Thanks.
Purple Quartz: I've always felt that I deserved a wider audience

    You now have one! :p

Bruce Mowbray: Please help us to become your audience, Purple.
    Agatha Macbeth: In what way?
Bruce Mowbray: By touching any of the cushions, you'll be able to sit down.
Bruce Mowbray: Ahhh! There you are!
    Purple Quartz: hm
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, a choice of TWO poses :p
    Purple Quartz: I'd rather lounge
Santoshima Resident: so far so good ~ bye all ... must go to class
Bruce Mowbray: lounging is quite cool.
Agatha Macbeth: See ya San (hopefully more of you)
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, San!
Santoshima Resident: this is the whole the perfect whole
    Qt Core: bye San
Wol Euler: bye san, take care
    Agatha Macbeth grins
Bruce Mowbray considers black cats in dark rooms.
Wol Euler: so, um, as we were saying.
Bruce Mowbray: What were we saying, Wol?
Agatha Macbeth: What were we saying?
    Agatha Macbeth: Snap
Wol Euler: I was encouraging paranoia about smart devices spying on us
    Agatha Macbeth: Ahh right
Wol Euler: well, perhaps not paranoia so much as a certain healthy skepticism
Bruce Mowbray: If you're a hermit, as I am, there are fewer surveillance devices.
Agatha Macbeth: Yes and they have to find you first
Wol Euler: the government is able to tap into your phone's GPS, to know where you are
Bruce Mowbray: My phone does not have a GPS.
Bruce Mowbray: It is only landline.
Agatha Macbeth: Dunno why they'd want to know where I am
Wol Euler: if it were on but lying to you, they could listen in to your drug deals or whatever
Bruce Mowbray: It's only important to me that I know where I am!
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh wow
Agatha Macbeth: I'd better stop em then
      --BELL--1345
Bruce Mowbray: OH DEAR! THEY ARE ACTUALLY LISTENIG IN ON MY DRUD DEALS????!!!!
    Bruce Mowbray: listening* drug*
    Agatha Macbeth: Druid deals?
Wol Euler: wanna buy a used menhir?
Agatha Macbeth: They tend to be quite large
Bruce Mowbray cannot resist laughing during this drop.
Agatha Macbeth: Are you using Zen's voice typer Brucie?
Bruce Mowbray: "Your ass" is quite attractive, Purple.
    Purple Quartz: Perfect
    Purple Quartz: thanks Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: Where ARE you , actually?
Purple Quartz: Between agatha's butt cheeks
Agatha Macbeth: Ah that's what I felt
Bruce Mowbray: I see you now.
Agatha Macbeth: Thought it was Wol :p
    Wol Euler: :-P
Bruce Mowbray: This is far better than druds.
    Bruce Mowbray: or drugs, either.
    Wol Euler: but not druids
    Agatha Macbeth: Or druids
    Agatha Macbeth: Even
Bruce Mowbray: Druids are also cool.
Agatha Macbeth: The Romans didn't think so
Qt Core: paranoid enough a few times my mother calld my cellphone instead of me she got the police landline (well, carabinieri to be precise)
Bruce Mowbray makes a note to check out his biofeedback device on this matter.
    Agatha Macbeth: Ooer
    Bruce Mowbray: OH MY!
Bruce Mowbray: That would certainly concern moi.
Agatha Macbeth: Hope they didn't have their guns with them
Bruce Mowbray: Why weren't they preoccupied with defending the Vatican?
Agatha Macbeth: The swiss guards do that
Bruce Mowbray: O yeah, I forgot.
Wol Euler: and not in Milan either
Qt Core: just consider how boring would be for them to follow your/our gps. listen our conversation, check what we do with our smartphone
    Agatha Macbeth: Well, supposedly
Bruce Mowbray has no "smart phone" -- only a dumb phone.
Agatha Macbeth: I'm glad they have time to it
Wol Euler: 99.999999999% of it is done mechanically, computers with their fingers in the datastream
Bruce Mowbray: yes, I suspected that -- like Google.
Qt Core: most of the things we do with smartphones are anything but smart ;-)
    Wol Euler: and the NSA
    Agatha Macbeth: They have fingers?
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
    Wol Euler: electronic ones
Bruce Mowbray pnders Google with fingers.
    Purple Quartz: Not fingers....digits
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm.
    Agatha Macbeth: Aha
    Agatha Macbeth: There you go
Bruce Mowbray ponders tarpels and metatarpels.
Bruce Mowbray: or is it "metatarsels"?
Qt Core: the smartest thing i do with it is managing the grocery shopping list, i think
    Agatha Macbeth: Foot bones?
Bruce Mowbray checks Goole on this one.
    Bruce Mowbray: Google*
Agatha Macbeth: Goole is a town in Lancashire :p
    Bruce Mowbray: http://www.alientravelguide.com/scie...my/carpals.htm
    Agatha Macbeth: Carpals and tarsels?
    Bruce Mowbray: yeppers.
    Wol Euler: capes and tassels?
Bruce Mowbray: carpels -- for hands. . . Having fingers in everything.
Qt Core: oh, metacarpals, i broke one of them years ago ;-)
    Bruce Mowbray: OH!
Agatha Macbeth: So did David Beckham
Qt Core: he was probably cured better ;-)
    Agatha Macbeth: Mmm
Agatha Macbeth: He had golden balls
    Agatha Macbeth: (alledgedly)
Bruce Mowbray: How would you know that, ags?
Agatha Macbeth: John Motson said so
    Wol Euler: heheheheh
Qt Core: (the pull would be an horrible sensation, i thnk)
Bruce Mowbray: kk. I'll take it on faith.
    Agatha Macbeth: Blind faith?
Bruce Mowbray: yeppers, I'd actually rather that it be blind.
Bruce Mowbray: although Purple's "ass" is delightful, of course.
Purple Quartz: You can take a close look later if you want Bruce
Agatha Macbeth: An ass by any other name
      --BELL--1400
Bruce Mowbray: I am off. Thank you for this delightful session, folks!
Wol Euler: bye bruce, take care
    Agatha Macbeth: C ya Brucie
    Qt Core: bye Bruce
    Agatha Macbeth: Take care
    Purple Quartz: Call me
    Purple Quartz winks
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, everyone!
Agatha Macbeth: Is Milan warm today QT?
Qt Core: just a little over 30 C, hotter temps from the 18th
    Agatha Macbeth: Oww
Agatha Macbeth: 20 here, that's bad enough
Qt Core: one of the main italian meteo sites/organization this year decide to gave out unscientifically designated names for everuything and the next hotwave is called Lucifero
    Wol Euler: hehehe
Agatha Macbeth: Well, that's apt at least
Agatha Macbeth: Beats 'snowman' or something
Qt Core: they called the last one Caronte, Nerone, Minosse, in just a few weeks they ab-used the best names
    Qt Core: ones*
    Agatha Macbeth: Why 3 names?
    Wol Euler: heheh
Wol Euler: why not alphabetical order?
Qt Core: another of the reason those names are not recognized by anyone in the meteo scientific community
Agatha Macbeth: They sound like footballers names
Qt Core: it seem almost as a marketing move to make mateo cool
Qt Core: (but for that there are ACs)
    Wol Euler: :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hmmm
Wol Euler: my dears, I'm off to do some wandering and dancing :)
    Wol Euler: enjoy the evening
    Qt Core: have fun
Agatha Macbeth: Wander and dance well dear, see you anon
Agatha Macbeth: Nice to see you here again at this time QT
Qt Core: same for me, Agatha
Agatha Macbeth: Usually it's on a sunday
Agatha Macbeth: Anyways, ciao for now
    Agatha Macbeth: Take care
    Qt Core: bye
Qt Core: Bye Purple have fun you too
    Purple Quartz: Bye
    Purple Quartz waves
