DR42 Resident: How is hypocrisy related to the socio/economic/political status of a person?
stevenaia Michinaga: seems it can be a bigger label the bigger you are viewed
stevenaia Michinaga: most homeless aren't hypocrites
DR42 Resident: Yes, are people in powerful positions more likely to be hypocrites, or is it just a case that we notice it more?

stevenaia Michinaga: yes, we note when we judge
stevenaia Michinaga: usually relates to the person applying the label too
DR42 Resident: Maybe the homeless are, just about things most people either are not aware of or don't care about.
stevenaia Michinaga: I question whether the hypocrite knows it until someone points it out.. and even then may not
stevenaia Michinaga: *maybe
DR42 Resident thinks the 1%ers know full well.
Korel Laloix: The thing is... I reject the idea that a person has to be spotless to comment on others.
DR42 Resident: Same
Korel Laloix: Most of us strive to be better.
stevenaia Michinaga: I agree
Korel Laloix: And we can't improve on our own as much as with friends holding us accountable.
stevenaia Michinaga: no one can stand up to the judgement of others
DR42 Resident: It is not uncommon for me to go sit at a place called "Soj's Land" to contemplate being better.
Korel Laloix: Not to teh judgement of ourselves either.
stevenaia Michinaga: I never think about being better, more a natural state of movemnt

Korel Laloix: I reject most of the criticism of the top one percent as well as the real greed lies with the politicans that have no issues spending my grandchildrens money to feed their empires now. And we could tax the top one percent... 100 percent it it would make less than a half of a percent idffernce in our budget difficit.
Korel Laloix: Labeling the top one percent is just that... labeling.
Korel Laloix: It is the politcs of division which just makes the corrupt in DC stronger.
stevenaia Michinaga: it;s the nature of the two party system
DR42 Resident: NPR had a wonderful story today that it is the inequality between the "average person" and the 1%ers that drives social unrest and polarization. It's not about the money, it is about the social divisiveness.
stevenaia Michinaga: not sure it;s the case in Egypt
stevenaia Michinaga: I suppose both are about ideolgy
stevenaia Michinaga: but more impartantly eash not wnating to appear "weak" by compromising
stevenaia Michinaga: *importantly

Korel Laloix: Sad NPR feels it has the moral superiority to label.
Korel Laloix: One of these days NPR will be labeling me... I can't wait.
DR42 Resident: All of it? There are so many public radio shows that are actually not part of NPR, but I tend to lump them all together under that label.

Korel Laloix: But they do it honestly at least... up front about it.
Korel Laloix: And it is good to at least have one new outlet that will actually call Obama on his misogyny and racism.
stevenaia Michinaga: I wonder, does a person become a hypocrite when they are labled by another?
stevenaia Michinaga: or before then?

stevenaia Michinaga: I;m always amazed how different the BBC news is
Korel Laloix: Sad but true.
Korel Laloix: I look at their page about once a week.
Korel Laloix: It has its biases as well.
DR42 Resident: " How to judge others and ourselves in a way that is positive" seems to be oxymoronic. can judging others ever be positive?
Korel Laloix: Evidently... to the BBC I am stupid and evil though.
Korel Laloix: So I don't pay much attention to them.
stevenaia Michinaga: I thing judgement has 2 sides, so it can be either, jsut not universally one

Korel Laloix: I find the term hypocrit sort of like the term closed minded... people that use the term to label others generally fit the term better than the ones they are labeling.
