                            --BELL--
    DR42 Resident: Morning.
    Riddle Sideways: morning
Riddle Sideways: are you going through inventory?
DR42 Resident: Yes, until we start.
    DR42 Resident: Hello Uns
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Uns
    Uns Mistwalker: greetings, Riddle, Maude
Riddle Sideways: Uns, can't remember if we have met before
Uns Mistwalker: and oooooooo Maude.... tell me how you achieved the high station of experiencing no shame!
Riddle Sideways: have you been here before?
Uns Mistwalker: I don't recall it, Riddle?
Uns Mistwalker: Yes, many times..... (well, perhaps a dozen)
    Riddle Sideways: ok
                            --BELL--
DR42 Resident: House is shaking, low flying choppers.. :)
DR42 Resident: I was thinking about games, and "Keeper of the faith" or "Devil's Advocate"
DR42 Resident: I used to take the role of Devil's Advocate as a game, just to see how people would react.
Riddle Sideways: yes, a good role many times
Riddle Sideways: many players need an adversary to play the game
Uns Mistwalker: I have found that when I do that....what is often going on for me is that something is frightening me about the situation.
DR42 Resident: I was amused when I learned the derivation of the term "Devil's Advocate"
    Riddle Sideways: /looking it up
DR42 Resident: I would go intothat role with little effort, it had become easy for me to view a situation from many directions at once,
Uns Mistwalker: yes. I find that too, I have been trained to use different 'lenses' to see a situation.
    DR42 Resident: advocatus diaboli
    Riddle Sideways: interesting origin.
Riddle Sideways: translates to Canon Lawyer
Riddle Sideways: which is a great image
Riddle Sideways: a big heavy iron canon for shotting lawyers
Riddle Sideways: into the next county
    Uns Mistwalker laughs.
DR42 Resident: Interesting that JP II abolished the office so he could make lots of people saints or beatified.
Uns Mistwalker: ok.... so now you've invoked a lawyer joke: What do you call 50,000 lawyers at the bottom of the sea?
Uns Mistwalker: Yes it is Maude.
DR42 Resident: Kind of like congress abolishing the supreme court so they could pass hundreds of unconstitutional laws.
    DR42 Resident: A good thing?
    Uns Mistwalker: nods.
Uns Mistwalker: right!..... A good start!
    Riddle Sideways: a good start
DR42 Resident: What's the tragedy in a bus load of lawyers crashing?
Uns Mistwalker: Nowadays the subversion of justice, at least in the US.... does not require acts of congress.
                            --BELL--
    Riddle Sideways: damaged bus
Uns Mistwalker: damage to the bus?
DR42 Resident: That the driver wasn't also a lawyer.
Uns Mistwalker: do we have a formal topic?
Riddle Sideways: well, it was games and gaming
    Uns Mistwalker: I see.
DR42 Resident: Games, which was why I mentioned about the Devils Advocate and it being a position in opposition and debate.
Riddle Sideways: devil advocate was a good start
    Uns Mistwalker: yes.
Riddle Sideways: in games, the players take on a role
Uns Mistwalker: Do either of you find yourself playing games in SL?
Uns Mistwalker: in rl, we all play many roles.
Riddle Sideways: it is supposed to be a temporary role
Riddle Sideways: yet, sometimes other players lock us or their oppinion of us into that role
    Riddle Sideways: permnianttly
Riddle Sideways: Uns, depends on the definition of games in SL
    DR42 Resident: Only majhong.
Riddle Sideways: sitting on a SL pillow weekly is one of the games an eye plays at Being
Uns Mistwalker: what then, makes an act ... not-a-game?
DR42 Resident: Here we do as adversaries do in law, Strive mightily, but eat and drink as friends.
DR42 Resident: (The Taming of the Shrew)
Uns Mistwalker: the posture I aspire to, is to be most satisfied, when the Truth manifests, on the tongue of the other.
Uns Mistwalker: that I may then submit to it.
    DR42 Resident: Hello Solid
DR42 Resident: Can people really play games, to win, while remaining dispassionate?
Solidspace Merlin: is the machine world bias to eastern writing or does backward writing end the begining well
                            --BELL--
Uns Mistwalker: Perhaps, Maude.... remaining dispassionate is a step toward the mastery of any game.
DR42 Resident: Solid, are you OK with this being recorded and your comments being included?
    Solidspace Merlin: idk
    Riddle Sideways: Hi solid
    Solidspace Merlin: /rob
    Solidspace Merlin: Hey!
Solidspace Merlin: ▨ YOUR FUCKING WARNED!!! ➣➣➣ DoNt EvA gO oVeR mY FuKn HeAd aGaiN... u MuDdA FuCkEr YoU!! ▨
    Riddle Sideways: welcome back, solid
    Solidspace Merlin: Thank yyouuuuuuu~
Riddle Sideways: so the games people play... do you think they are to win?
Riddle Sideways: and to win what?
Riddle Sideways: or just to BEAT others?
    Uns Mistwalker: many answers, riddle.
Solidspace Merlin: no one is be at no one
DR42 Resident: The concept of "just to beat others" makes a game a losing sum.
Riddle Sideways: then there are the number of simutanious 'games' we are playing at one time
Riddle Sideways: like a different game with each other player
Riddle Sideways: seems 3 of us are playing the red pillow positions right now
    Riddle Sideways: is that meaningful?
DR42 Resident: Like a chess match, where the master goes from board to board playing a dozen games at one time.
Riddle Sideways: yes, is that what we do in the game of our lifes
    Riddle Sideways: lives
DR42 Resident: lol, I noticed that a few minutes ago. I simply do not like the blue pillow pose.
Riddle Sideways: yep, don't like blue pose as much
Uns Mistwalker: blue pillow pose lacks balance to me.
Uns Mistwalker: better for skirted women I suppose.
DR42 Resident: In my life, there would be many games, because my friends come from different contexts.
                            --BELL--
DR42 Resident: You can only have one game when all the players share a context.
    Solidspace Merlin: 1
    Riddle Sideways: interesting
Riddle Sideways: like usual there is the single meta-game
Riddle Sideways: yet, it is easier to see-play several littler games
Riddle Sideways: so we ignore the meta-game and focus on each individual parts
DR42 Resident: Or, can you view it as "sub-games", or games where one or more players have an imperfect knowledge of the context?
Riddle Sideways: from stranger in a strange land: the perfect witness would answer (what color is that house) with "this side is white"
DR42 Resident: Yes, a very accurate answer.
    Uns Mistwalker: yes. lovely, Riddle.
DR42 Resident: Or the joke about all sheep are white.
    Riddle Sideways: /listening
DR42 Resident: Two men riding on a train looking out at a field of sheep.
DR42 Resident: One notes that all the sheep are white, and the other says, no, only the sides of the sheep we can see are white.
Uns Mistwalker: I would say this kind of perception might stem from a lot of mindfulness practice.... as we disconnect from ordinary assumptions.
Solidspace Merlin: shall we build spaceships for suns
Riddle Sideways: one player is in/on a limited context and another is jumping around
Riddle Sideways: makes for a funny but not so fun game
DR42 Resident: Are games supposed to be, by definition, fun?
Riddle Sideways: how long would you play the game that is not fun?
Solidspace Merlin: untill the hills became alive with music
DR42 Resident: Not long, unless I was insane.
Riddle Sideways: both those answers are true for some sets of players
                            --BELL--
Solidspace Merlin: lucky you had heavens gates open
DR42 Resident: Time for me to head out. Have a wonderful day.
Solidspace Merlin: objects are emotion while feelings are emotions and spirit is soul of sleep
Riddle Sideways: interesting, how 4 players of an ill-defined 'game' choice to play very differently
Riddle Sideways: bye all, and have a good game
DR42 Resident: A game where we choose our own rules.
