I found myself for the first time in a long time alone at PaB until Adelene and Squee came along and saved me :)

Adelene Dawner chuckles. "He uses a script similar to Faenic. Different quotes, tho."
Squee: I always said I wanted to Be Somebody. I guess I should have been more specific!

Squee: You could search the world over and never find anyone more deserving of your love than yourself.
genesis Zhangsun: better not get Faenik and Squee together though instinct might take over

genesis Zhangsun: So how you doing?
Adelene Dawner: Mostly good, with intermittent stress.
genesis Zhangsun: are you in the moving process?
Squee: Enjoy your worries, you may never have them again.
Adelene Dawner: mmhmm
Adelene Dawner: Still in the process of applying for the apartment, actually... that's part of the stress, I've already resigned from my job and told BF I'm moving, but I don't have a place to move to, yet.
Adelene Dawner: They seem confident we'll be done in time, though.
genesis Zhangsun: who is "they"
Adelene Dawner: Wel, 'she' - the person I'm working with from the apartment complex that I'm moving to.
genesis Zhangsun: how did you find her?
genesis Zhangsun: if you don't mind me asking?
Adelene Dawner: I found the complex by way of Wikimapia... Corvi went and checked it out for me (it's 2 miles from her house) and got the ball rolling... the specific person was assigned to me, I guess.
genesis Zhangsun: Wikimapia...I have not tried that
genesis Zhangsun: is it like a craigslist?
Adelene Dawner: it's not well known - very fun tho. It takes the google maps, and lets people tag the buildings on the maps with names and descriptions and urls and such.

Squee: Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves.
Adelene Dawner: There's a search function that you can use to just show things tagged with certain words, like 'apartment'.
genesis Zhangsun: cool :)
genesis Zhangsun: so it looks like you have a place?
Adelene Dawner: mmhmm
Adelene Dawner: And I'm going to be one busy kitten once I move, too.
Squee: Be careful what you pretend to be, because that is what you become.
genesis Zhangsun: moving can be stressful...

Adelene tells me that she is planning to look around for grants for her Neuroversity idea, something we have been talking about over the past three months.

Adelene Dawner: Three's really been pushing to get more 3de work, plus he's promised to get moving on the Neuroversity paperwork once we jump this last hurdle with one of our programming gigs, and I intend to start selling artwork on the side.
genesis Zhangsun: sounds busy yes....great that you will be doing more with Neuroversity
Adelene Dawner nods vigorously.

Adelene Dawner: 'om nom nom', the phrase, is a pretty common internet meme. I think I eventually googled it.
Squee: Great talents are the most lovely and often the most dangerous fruits on the tree of humanity. They hang upon the most slender twigs that are easily snapped off.

I remember a conversation the two of us had some time ago about PaB we never got to finish and thought this may be a good opportunity to bring it up...

Adelene Dawner: I actually have a nice pithy quote that sums it up well... sums up my thoughts in Stim in general, actually... ^.-

Adelene Dawner: Well, that is a bit of an oversimplification. I do suspect that Stim could explain things more simply than he does.

genesis Zhangsun: well the point I was confused about was not explained clearly by either Pema Stim
genesis Zhangsun: I don't get how we can "start" at the end and then at the same time report on anything
genesis Zhangsun: what is there to report?
genesis Zhangsun: if you start at the end?
genesis Zhangsun: I think I said something about missing the whole show
Squee: It is not explanations that carry us forward, but our will to go on.
genesis Zhangsun: as in I feel I missed the whole show

Adelene lays it on me...

Adelene Dawner hmms. "Try this way:"
Adelene Dawner: Start where you are. Assume it's the end, in the sense that there's no need to go anywhere else. What do you see? What do you think? What movements does 'here' suggest, if you don't bring any movements of your own into it?
genesis Zhangsun: sounds like a beginning ;)
genesis Zhangsun: yeah ok I get it
genesis Zhangsun: its very complicated between this relative and absolute perspective
Adelene Dawner: Well, a beginning implies that you have a plan to go somewhere. But, yeah ^.^
genesis Zhangsun: I don't really get that relationship perhaps
Squee: Time machines don't exist.
Adelene Dawner pats Squee.
Adelene Dawner ponders for words.
Adelene Dawner: ...the difference between a beginning and an end is that if you're at a beginning, you expect an answer to 'what happens next?'
Adelene Dawner: At an end... you don't. You close the book, and any ideas you have about what happens after the end of the story are your own... suggested by the book, perhaps, but not dictated by it.

The relative and the absolute...

Adelene Dawner: As to the absolute... it's not so complicated that it's hard, it's so simple that it's hard.
Squee: What luck for rulers that men do not think.
Adelene Dawner: There's here. There's now. That's it. Right now, these words are on your screen. How long have they been there? Does that even make sense? There's only now, and now, they are here. Any other thoughts about whether they were or will be are just speculation.
genesis Zhangsun: and the relationship to the relative?
Adelene Dawner: The relative is this idea we have, that the words were there a second ago or will be there in a second. ^.^
Adelene Dawner: Or that that pillow is over there... I can't prove it. All I can prove to myself is that I have an idea that there's a pillow over there.
Adelene Dawner: And once that idea has left the now, I can't even prove that I had that. ^.^
genesis Zhangsun: So the relative is that an illusion?
Adelene Dawner: An amazingly persistent one, if so. ^.^
Adelene Dawner can't prove that she didn't have the thought or that the pillow isn't over there, either. ^.^
genesis Zhangsun: Hmmm ok
Squee: I love you, but love is not a one way street.

Adelene Dawner: I've honestly been kind of out of it - we've had a lot of larger groups, which I don't handle well. I've had some fun sessions, though, when it's been fewer people.
Adelene Dawner: The focus seems to be broadening.
Adelene Dawner: Which I think is good.
genesis Zhangsun: in what sense broadening?
Adelene Dawner: More different people with more different ideas, and a few outspoken ones, too.
Adelene Dawner: Have you met Pila yet?
genesis Zhangsun: yes ok in that way yes

genesis Zhangsun: he is cool

Adelene Dawner: One of these days he and Three are going to have it out about chakras, I think.
Adelene Dawner: And I think it was Pila who finally gave me a coherent explanation of "tiny dimensions curled in on themselves", too.

Squee: No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.
genesis Zhangsun: whats the beef between 3 and Pila about chakras?
Adelene Dawner: Not a beef per se... Pila uses that idea-set and Three doesn't take well to it.
Adelene Dawner: Too unscientific. ^.^
Adelene Dawner: They get along well in general tho.
Squee: Nothing about me has ever been original.
