SophiaSharon Larnia: hi anemone dreams from the sky :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: smiles
SophiaSharon Larnia: or, hi Steve :)
stevenaia Michinaga: how are you, white goddess
SophiaSharon Larnia: very good :) Am presently taking a break from work atm
SophiaSharon Larnia: had to put it down to come here
stevenaia Michinaga: waiting for the enxt snow :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, I'm starting early tomorrow because of it
stevenaia Michinaga: what do you do at home?
SophiaSharon Larnia: a LOT of charting
stevenaia Michinaga: jsut getting things in order
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
SophiaSharon Larnia: on a laptop that I transfer to the office
    stevenaia Michinaga: nice
SophiaSharon Larnia: it will be, once i'm faste
    SophiaSharon Larnia: faster*
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :D
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, nice to get into a zone w/ work
    stevenaia Michinaga: like meditation
    stevenaia Michinaga: lost in mind
SophiaSharon Larnia: been giving our conversations on chaos a lot of thought, flowing with the changes
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes indeed, look up and an hour has gone by
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, an absorbing moment of one kind or another
stevenaia Michinaga: I belive my work to be that
    stevenaia Michinaga: (or anyone elses)
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh yes, with your work I can really see how that would be
SophiaSharon Larnia: all the careful lines, that grow (if I have that right)
stevenaia Michinaga: they can do that nicely, they sometimes feel they move themselves

    --BELL--

    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: patterns emerge
stevenaia Michinaga: the mind has a nack for grapsing patterns
SophiaSharon Larnia: uncovering the pattern, letting it arise :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: from the chaos
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, the creative process of the minds kind of lasso's the chaos of radomness and reforms it into something that makes sence
stevenaia Michinaga: seems to happen more, the more you use your lasso :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: my plan for the day changed several times in the space of hours, it was chaotic in a way. I decided to stay with it in a mindful sense
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes it does :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: first felt tension in my shoulders and back when things were so upside down, once ia ccepted it, i bacame less tense
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, a wonderful moment
    stevenaia Michinaga: like crossing over
stevenaia Michinaga: in tome you get good at it cause you recognize it more
SophiaSharon Larnia: im very easy going by nature, but some things having you turning, and then turnng again
    stevenaia Michinaga: *time
SophiaSharon Larnia: it is wonderful, i should have a partyy!!!!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Druth :)
stevenaia Michinaga: at that moment you almost do
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Druth
druth Vlodovic: hi steve, hi sophia
SophiaSharon Larnia: sort of discussing accepting chaos, Druth
SophiaSharon Larnia: I have declared I should have party because i did today
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :D
    SophiaSharon Larnia: haha
stevenaia Michinaga: I went to an art exhibit at the Jaacceptance of chaos
stevenaia Michinaga: opps let me rephase that runone
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Jaaceptance :D
druth Vlodovic: I suppose a party is a good place to practice accepting chaos
SophiaSharon Larnia: its weird i was up to my eyeballs in chaos at previous jobs
    SophiaSharon Larnia: right druth? hehe
stevenaia Michinaga: I went to an art exhibit at the Japanese Society in NYC this weekend,
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh cool
stevenaia Michinaga: it was of "Hakuin Ekaku"'s drawing a zen Master
    SophiaSharon Larnia: a link?
    stevenaia Michinaga: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hakuin_Ekaku
    stevenaia Michinaga: the exhibit ended
SophiaSharon Larnia: thanks! love how we can do that so easily
stevenaia Michinaga: but the phase "the sound of one had" was a koan of his, clapping was added later
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ohh
stevenaia Michinaga: learns much of koans fron his art and words
druth Vlodovic: to me it seems to make more sense that way
    stevenaia Michinaga: very inspiring
    stevenaia Michinaga: opps, *hand
SophiaSharon Larnia: makes more sense with a visual impression druth?
SophiaSharon Larnia: (just saw the words part oops :) )
druth Vlodovic: without the clapping, of course, I've probably got it badly wrong :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: one hand is woosh woosh :D
SophiaSharon Larnia: if it was fast enough that is

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: interesting how something from a 17 century zen buddists monk lives with us
druth Vlodovic: :) one hand can act decisively, accomplish much, "many hands make much confusion."
SophiaSharon Larnia: very true, asI have seen when everyone wants to help hahah
stevenaia Michinaga: "the sound of one hand" can simply be action that changes everything of simply silence
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Cal
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Cal
    druth Vlodovic: hi cal
stevenaia Michinaga: but it all helps get a sence of the power of a koan
stevenaia Michinaga: soemthing that is relatively new to me
SophiaSharon Larnia: discussing chaos, and koans (in a tiny nutshell)
    Calvino Rabeni: Hello everyone
SophiaSharon Larnia: im no good at synopsis
stevenaia Michinaga: but you can spell it :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hahaha yea
Calvino Rabeni: Synopsis - something like "seeing it all together"
SophiaSharon Larnia: i remeber when i pab we used to give nc to newcomers
    SophiaSharon Larnia: in*
druth Vlodovic: I was at a discussion once, they were talking about something, but as a joke they told newcomers that the subject was something else entirely :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: copy the etxt
    stevenaia Michinaga: lol
SophiaSharon Larnia: ha! for a fresh view, or as a joke?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh whoops
    SophiaSharon Larnia: sorry
druth Vlodovic: as a joke, but, of course, it hijacked the discussion
SophiaSharon Larnia: mustve been a boring conversation for them then
SophiaSharon Larnia: or sense of play lol
SophiaSharon Larnia: seeing your drawing lines arising out of chaos Steve, like a symphony, something calling them into existence
SophiaSharon Larnia: or out of a blank page
stevenaia Michinaga: a small need for order somewhere deep inside us all
stevenaia Michinaga: or to tend to a task at hand
SophiaSharon Larnia: deep need, i'd think
stevenaia Michinaga: blank paper can be like chaos
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Paradise
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Paradise
stevenaia Michinaga: it is the wrld for you mnd to form, with word, lines, color :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: *world
    druth Vlodovic: hi para
Paradise Tennant: smiles and wwaves all round
SophiaSharon Larnia: today just let the chaos brush by and not stick to me, observed it swirl around
stevenaia Michinaga: like music, always begins with no sound
    SophiaSharon Larnia: waves back
Paradise Tennant: smiles at sophia ..what a lovely image swirling chaos .. centred calm :))
SophiaSharon Larnia: knowing that to grab creates a physical reaction
SophiaSharon Larnia: mental emotional etc, just observing one thing at a time lol

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: I guess you can be cosumes by chaos or just watch it and direct it... sounds a bit like my image of fate, you ride it or it rides you
Paradise Tennant: smiles yes amazing how time can compress sometimes just in from a nice run and it seemed to really flow ...over in no time .. in a way .. when you surrender .. you make it so much easier .. all that chaos .. is made up of little bits of resistance :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes part of my diffulty is wanting to understand it all at once, open up to it way to far
    Paradise Tennant: nods yes
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, not having the resistance transforms the experience without changing it
Calvino Rabeni: Like the dogs are still barking off in the distance, but it's no longer noise
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, fighting it can jsut wear you out
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
stevenaia Michinaga: you win the fight by not fighting
Paradise Tennant: smiles what a brillant way to put it stevenaia :)
stevenaia Michinaga: the chaos is still there... but so are you
    Calvino Rabeni: Nice yes
stevenaia Michinaga: even now I get so close to the fight... then stop... smile.. and watch
Paradise Tennant: smiles actually .. actions are the most compelling form of communication ...often the best thing to focus on what can I do here that is best .. no need to do more than that really
SophiaSharon Larnia: thoughts turned chaotic for a second reading that lol
Calvino Rabeni: Surrendering to being moved, is part of the challenge too
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, take much energy to let go, thy you get the point of ... "what too you so long to do that"
    stevenaia Michinaga: *took
Calvino Rabeni: And noticing everything one missed out on during the disconnection
stevenaia Michinaga: let me rewrite that....take much energy to let go, then you get to the point of ... "what took you so long to do that"
Paradise Tennant: and the other key key point is chaos is not personal :) just be with it .. distinct and separate from the "me" part .. and it is so much easier ..
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
Calvino Rabeni: We talk about these fundamental ideas pretty often, do we not?
    stevenaia Michinaga: letting go?
Paradise Tennant: lol yep until we believe them and get them right lol
    stevenaia Michinaga: or dropping
    Calvino Rabeni: heheh
    stevenaia Michinaga: or practice them
SophiaSharon Larnia: i dropped chaos today and find that i still have work stuff to do until im done :)
    Paradise Tennant: smiles yes
SophiaSharon Larnia: but at least wasnt as stressed about it at the time :)
Paradise Tennant: but likely more got done that would have happened if you picked up the chaos
    SophiaSharon Larnia: probably
Calvino Rabeni: The ideas are really getting around, though, like, the whole culture keeps "rediscovering" them as frequently as needed
Calvino Rabeni: As do I :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: i should go and finish that, bye all :))
    Calvino Rabeni: Bye :)
stevenaia Michinaga: "rediscovering" them.. CAl, What?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: good night!
Paradise Tennant: smiles at sophia .. thank you :) for sharing
    druth Vlodovic: have fun sophia
    SophiaSharon Larnia: you too :)
stevenaia Michinaga: night, back to work for you
Calvino Rabeni: Yeah, rediscovering reality, which was there all along

    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: Because at a certain point it's a practice to "name" the epiphany, and thereby perhap invite it to return
stevenaia Michinaga: yes.. the nature of reality becomes clearer bit by bit when you see it apart from holding on to a small part of it
Calvino Rabeni: I listened to a radio interview today of Elizabeth Alexander, the poet who was commissioned to read at the Obama inauguration. It was a good interview, and she spoke about some very "PaB-ish" ideas.
Calvino Rabeni: Naming the ideas for a national audience
    Calvino Rabeni: For instance
Calvino Rabeni: The idea that we are all really interested in each other (other humans)
Calvino Rabeni: The value of silence as an experience in groups
Calvino Rabeni: and the art of asking "real" questions
    stevenaia Michinaga: real?
    Calvino Rabeni nods
Calvino Rabeni: What's a "real" question, now there's the puzzle
    stevenaia Michinaga: smiles
Calvino Rabeni: It's similar to the question, what is it to be "authentic", what does that mean
stevenaia Michinaga: that must be the question
Calvino Rabeni: What does it take to make the question "what is a Real question" real?
Calvino Rabeni: (hopefully that's meaningful and not too convoluted)
stevenaia Michinaga: sounds like somethign to think about, not to ever answer
druth Vlodovic: I suppose it might be simpler to ask what she regards as "not a real question"
Calvino Rabeni: well, maybe its something to answer, without too much thinking, and then experience the result
Paradise Tennant: smiles feeding the dog a spoonful of peanut butter .. there is calm ..slow appreciation of every lick .. a savouring of the moment that I find so .. pleasing in how he does this takes him about 10 minutes to finish ..it and then he sort of smiles . give a little tail wag .. and trots off to get a drink of water .. very real .. very authentic .. do not think he thinks to get there :)
Calvino Rabeni: Then maybe, turni it around, druth? That could work
Calvino Rabeni: if the turning around happens, I think
Calvino Rabeni: but "nots" without a turning around, I think they don't work so well?
Calvino Rabeni: because the real answering, is the turning around, itself
Calvino Rabeni: or at least that seems a necessary part of the questioning
    Calvino Rabeni: For example
Calvino Rabeni: (I like examples sometimes)
    druth Vlodovic: :)
Calvino Rabeni: a "not-real" question would be, one everyone already believes they know the answer to
Calvino Rabeni: or one they aren't really interested in
Calvino Rabeni: or one that has no ability to move anyone
Calvino Rabeni: or one that produces no change in the listener
Paradise Tennant: is emotion a compass that points to relevance ?
Calvino Rabeni: or one that won't be believed
Calvino Rabeni: I think Paradise, it depends, not categorically
Calvino Rabeni: but subtle emotions seem completely necessary for that
druth Vlodovic: emotion tells you what you thought of the answer when you were six, unless you've remade yourself in the meantime
Calvino Rabeni: a good intuitive thinker might be guided by a series of feelings, maybe called hunches, at critical decision points
druth Vlodovic: sometimes asking a question that everybody thinks they know the answer to is important, but often difficult to answer properly
stevenaia Michinaga: hunch is emerging creativity
Calvino Rabeni: That sounds like it would be useful because they don't *really* know the answer, and they could be surprised
Paradise Tennant: intuitive thought .. often connects the unconnected
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes

    --BELL--

    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Lucinda
    stevenaia Michinaga: and her bunnies
    Paradise Tennant: hiya lucinda !
Paradise Tennant: thinks her bunnies are happy to see lucinda's bunnies :)
    Lucinda Lavender: :)))
    Lucinda Lavender: HI!
    druth Vlodovic: ty :)
stevenaia Michinaga: had to see them on
Calvino Rabeni: These bunnies seem to move second life closer to the edge of surrealism than it already is
Lucinda Lavender: little clouds of fur
Paradise Tennant: yes even better if they were a wee bit dusty and had one toe that looked like the dog had chewed it :) that would be really real life
    Lucinda Lavender: nodding
Lucinda Lavender: Enjoyed reading last nights poem Cal:)
Calvino Rabeni: we put our heads together
Calvino Rabeni: Things worked out well in the end
Calvino Rabeni: thanks to your trapping man
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
    Lucinda Lavender: love that...
Calvino Rabeni: a dream circle actually
Calvino Rabeni: minting a fresh one
Lucinda Lavender: and where does it reside?
Lucinda Lavender: what sort of picture does it have?
    Paradise Tennant: listens
    Calvino Rabeni: hmm (?)
stevenaia Michinaga: I must be off... night all
Calvino Rabeni: Good night Steve :)
    druth Vlodovic: 'night steve
Paradise Tennant: nite nite stevenaia sweet dreams
