Fael, Pia, Sky and Adams shared guardian duties and Adams posted the log. The comments are mine (Adams)
I arrived first, a bit tired from the invigorating session last night
at 1900 hours, and then was soon by joing by Doug, Fael and Sky
Adams Rubble Hello Doug
doug Sosa: hello!
Fael Illyar: Hi Adams, doug :)
Fael Illyar: Hi Sky :)
Adams Rubble Hi Doug
Adams Rubble Hi Fael
doug Sosa: hi adams.
Adams Rubble Hello Sky
doug Sosa: hi sky
Sky Szimmer: hey there! Quick question... how do i reprogram my teleporter here
Fael Illyar: Hi Pia
Fael Illyar: teleporter?
Adams Rubble Just go to World and click create landmark here
Sky Szimmer: thanks
Faenik: なるほど^^
Adams Rubble Hello Pia
Pia Iger: Hello, friends:)
Fael was wearing her "I am not Fael Illyar" tag again
Adams Rubble Ah, Fael, you are not yourself today
Fael Illyar: I'm not?
Adams Rubble Your tag :)
Fael Illyar: Oh :)
Adams Rubble I hope Rajah's internet is working this morning
Rajah had told us he was having problems logging on in his country
A few days ago, Sky had recommended a website to a few of us
(http://playasbeing.wik.is/Chat_Logs/...Rich_Landscape)
Sky Szimmer: hey Fael, i read that you checked out pathwaytohappiness. Glad you found it somewhat interesting
Fael Illyar: Yes, it had a few pieces of knowledge I found interesting :)
Fael Illyar: Well, I still have to read it all, though, so there might still be more hiding somewhere there
Sky Szimmer: the free audios are good too. there are so many.
Fael Illyar: Yes, I listened to a couple
Pia Iger: I want to mention I add a page in wiki for web links, so everyone can add this kind of good web site to our wiki
Sky Szimmer: ok. can you do it for me. i am too low tech. i don't know anything about wiki even though i have read what it is about.
Pia Iger: np.
Fael Illyar: If you can use a web browser, the wiki should be easy enough :)
Sky Szimmer: ah. i will expand my horizon and check it out.
Sky Szimmer: it is just rather lazy of me to learn another new thing
Fael Illyar: just in case you don't have the address http://playasbeing.wik.is
Adams Rubble Fael is a great help in these matters...and patient
Sky Szimmer: thanks. i think i tried it once but it didn't link properly
Sky Szimmer: i will give it another go
Adams Rubble I forget that Fael has told me things already and she patiently explains them again
Faenik: could be
Sky Szimmer: that is great to have someone to turn to.
Sky turns the topic to Being
Sky Szimmer: we are lucky here that there are so many people to turn to to learn about Being
Adams Rubble Now about that I am a dunce :)
Sky Szimmer: no Adams. We are all experts
Sky Szimmer: but we are just ignorant
Sky Szimmer: i find that it is all about Being.
doug Sosa: we know a little, not a lot. thank goodness for years.
Sky Szimmer: i disagree.
Sky Szimmer: there is no years.
doug Sosa: to learn almost enough
Sky Szimmer: there is only now. but there is only memory
Sky Szimmer: which happens in the now.
doug Sosa: well, there is no anything, yet, on the other hand..
then, there it was.....the title for today's session
Sky Szimmer: i find that part of the PaB is to act as we know and then it comes
Sky Szimmer: Stim sometimes has that as an exercise
Pia Iger: can you explain the exercise more?
Sky Szimmer: well. it is best to ask Stim directly.
I must remember to ask Stim about the exercise. The conversation turns to playing
Sky Szimmer: my memory is faulty and my explanation may not be too clear.
Faenik: ah :)
Sky Szimmer: but basically, we act like we are already a Buddha
Sky Szimmer: play as a Buddha
Adams Rubble thinks that is an intersting idea
Fael Illyar: Oh... I think I'm sort of doing that all the time.
Sky Szimmer: i think that is why the title is Play as Being
Sky Szimmer: because why Play?
Pia Iger: That is what Pema said " we start from the end".
Pia Iger: the radical part of our play
Sky Szimmer: right. so doesn't that imply we know what
Sky Szimmer: Being may mean
Sky Szimmer: in order to play as something, we have to have some notion of what that means
Fael Illyar: Well, one recurring theme I've seen is that "you already know"
Sky Szimmer: so what does that mean to you
Fael Illyar: it means I know but don't know I know and therefore am seeking things elsewhere.
Adams Rubble scratches her head
Pia Iger: yes, we don't look into ourselves often. so to speak.
Fael Illyar: you know, but _believe_ you don't. Therefore you search.
Sky Szimmer: how is that Fael
Pia Iger: yesterday they mention the word "innate wisdom", that is what we have, but we don't think we have.
Fael Illyar: yes, that sounds similar.
Fael Illyar: I've always been wondering how come most animals seem to be able to do things almost from birth where we humans have to learn.
Fael Illyar: so maybe we would be too if our parents didn't teach us not to.
Adams Rubble No no
Adams Rubble First of all, the more complex the animal, the more teaching is needed
Gaya Join us
Fael Illyar: Hi Gaya
Adams Rubble Hi Gaya
Gaya Ethaniel: hello
Adams Rubble Primates need the most teaching...the longest childhoods
Adams Rubble as one moves down the ladder, shorter childhoods and less teaching
Adams Rubble more instinct
Adams Rubble birds are programmed to migrate
Faenik: why not?
Adams Rubble they come with that in their genes
Adams Rubble could be
Sky Szimmer: basically we know already everything we need to know, i think.
And Gaya notices Fael's tag
Pia Iger: Gaya, this is Play as Being meeting, you can check our website http://playasbeing.wordpress.com/hin...ying-as-being/
Gaya Ethaniel: thanks pia
Fael Illyar: Gaya has been in at least 2 sessions already :)
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Gaya Ethaniel: r u fael? why does it say 'i am not' fael?
Faenik: なるほど^^
Gaya Ethaniel: naruhodo :)
Pia Iger: oh, it's my first time meet Gaya.
Fael Illyar: It's a group tag :) 日本語も読めますか?
Adams Rubble Mine too. Nice to meet you Gaya :)
Sky Szimmer: sorry. got to run. nice chatting with you all.
Gaya Ethaniel: jotdo ne nihongo kangokujin desu 안녕
Fael Illyar: See you later Sky :)
Pia Iger: bye, Sky.
Adams Rubble bye Sky :)
Sky departs and the topic turns to languages
Gaya Ethaniel: welcome pia
Faenik: ah :)
Gaya Ethaniel: i very much enjoying coming here and zen retreat pia
Gaya Ethaniel: nihonjin desuka fael?
Adams Rubble I think Pia means that it is her first time meeting you Gaya
Gaya Ethaniel: oh i see :)
Fael Illyar: いいえ、フィンランド人です。
Gaya Ethaniel: oh ok fael finnish is a difficult language i heard :)
Fael Illyar: People like to call it that. I never noticed :)
Adams Rubble :)
Gaya Ethaniel: incidentally how verbs change in finnish is very much like in korean :)
Fael Illyar: Or Japanese too I guess?
Gaya Ethaniel: yes that's right but more variation in korean i believe
Fael Illyar: I think I remember hearing the grammatical structure of Korean in similar to Japanese.
Gaya Ethaniel: yes that's correct
Gaya Ethaniel: it's easier for me to learn japanese than chinese, which is similar in structure to english
Fael Illyar: Interesting :) that part I didn't know.
Gaya Ethaniel: in chinese (as in english) one says i go to school
Gaya Ethaniel: in japanese & korean, one says i school go
Adams Rubble Are you Korean, Gaya?
Gaya Ethaniel: yes i am but based in uk
Fael Illyar: more like: I (to school) go I'd think.
Gaya Ethaniel: that's right fael but i said it just to simplify
Faenik: なるほど^^
Adams Rubble I did not know Korean was in that language group
Adams Rubble I am always glad to learn something new
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Gaya Ethaniel: adams r u also english native speaker?
Adams Rubble I had a year of Turkish but I forgot most of it, especially the grammar--long time ago
Adams Rubble Yes I am American
Gaya Ethaniel: yes i found also that my korean gets rusty as i don't speak as much now
Fael Illyar: My sister said the same thing about Finnish after spending a couple of years in Australia.
Faenik: why not?
and then to the information explosion
Gaya Ethaniel: :) so i try to watch korean news etc to keep my korean going
Adams Rubble It is wonderful that there are so many opportunites now to stay in touch with a culture
Fael Illyar: You could also try to find a Korean sim perhaps?
Adams Rubble A nice side effect to the information explosion
Gaya Ethaniel: yes that's right especially with korea, i can watch all tv programme over the internet though speed in uk lets me know at times as korean programmes are really big in size
Gaya Ethaniel: there are some korean sims but mostly shops and weird places...
Gaya Ethaniel: i like it here
Adams Rubble :)
Gaya Ethaniel: and Go place
Gaya Ethaniel: yes i agree with information explosion - so much out there for us to spend our time on
Adams Rubble That is another issue Gaya :)
Fael Illyar: Yes, we get to be very selective on what we spend our time on
Adams Rubble I tend to jump around...go in depth on one thing and then drop it completely, just leaving a few bookmarks in my favorite section
Fael Illyar: I tend to do some of that too
Gaya Ethaniel: i used to do that but now i just limit myself to a couple of newspaper sites in english & korean and bbc
Fael Illyar: but it gets lodged somewhere in my memory where it gets recalled from if I ever need the information.
Gaya Ethaniel: though my favourite folder is ever expanding :)
Adams Rubble As to newspapers, I read only a couple but they tend to be local now unless I want to know something specifically
Fael Illyar: then there are things I read just one article about. Those I tend to recall just enough to remember it exists and perhaps find it again
Gaya Ethaniel: do u still read papers in paper form? i read them mostly online only
Gaya Ethaniel: i know what u mean fael
Adams Rubble we get a couple of newspapers but I do most of my reading online
Fael Illyar: I don't read paper versions at all.
Adams Rubble I like to read the NY Tomes book review section in paper form
Adams Rubble Times
Fael Illyar: even books just rarely.
Adams Rubble Maybe it is the longer articles
Gaya Ethaniel: do u guys use e-book readers then?
Faenik is a hairy black ball with eyes and ears.
Adams Rubble I don't
Fael Illyar: mostly websites. I don't read many traditional books
Adams Rubble I can;t resist buying books :)
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
and then to the effect of the information explosion on our eyes
Pia Iger: I found staring at computers is hard on my eyes.
Adams Rubble yes Pia
Adams Rubble Books now too for me
Adams Rubble I have glasses for computer
Adams Rubble glasses for books
Adams Rubble glasses for driving and biking
Pema joins us too
Fael Illyar: Hi Pema :)
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Adams Rubble Hi Pema
Pema Pera: Hi Everybody!
Gaya Ethaniel: hello pema
Faenik: why not?
Fael Illyar: Ever since I switched to using TFT screen on my computers, I haven't had problems getting tired looking at the screen.
Adams Rubble TFT ?
Gaya Ethaniel: yes it helps a lot
Fael Illyar: flat panels, no flickering, stable picture.
Gaya Ethaniel: but i like reading books in paper form still
Adams Rubble Ah, I have those...still get sore eyes
Gaya Ethaniel: i think none of e-readers have convinced me to switch yet
Faenik loves wells!
Fael Illyar: it could be something to do with me nearly unconsciously switching my posture and therefore distance to the screen all the time.
Adams Rubble or young eyes :)
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Fael Illyar: Well, that could be it too. Except I've seen people my age complain they get tired looking at a screen.
Akasuki stops by
Fael Illyar: Hi Akasuki :)
Adams Rubble The CRT screens were deadly
Adams Rubble Hi Akasuki
Akasuki Aichi: Hello, may I sit?
Pema Pera: Hi Akasuki!
Gaya Ethaniel: hello akasuki
Pema Pera: of course!
Pema Pera: come join us
Fael Illyar: the meeting is, unfortunately, almost over.
Akasuki Aichi: Yes I was just wandering :)
Akasuki Aichi: But Fael had mentioned this to me
and then Riddle tries to sneak by the pavilion to the guardian meeting but is "discovered" and he too joins our group
Fael Illyar: Hi Riddle :)
Pema Pera: Morning, Riddle!
Riddle Sideways: Hi all
Adams Rubble Hi Riddle
Gaya Ethaniel: hello riddle
Pia Iger: Fael's radar is impressive.
Riddle Sideways: yes, I was going to sneak by
Fael Illyar: :)
Pema Pera: :)
Riddle Sideways: the radar trap got me
Pia Iger: no sneaky while Fael is around.
Riddle Sideways: please excuse me, I did not mean to disturb
Fael Illyar: Akasuki, did I give you the link to the blog earlier? http://playasbeing.wordpress.com/
Akasuki Aichi: Yes but thanks again
Pia Iger: wow Akasuki is the first AV I saw with teeth.
Pema Pera: Gaya and Akasuki, we are about to go over to another place, for our weekly meetings -- but you are both more than welcome to come along if you are interested to see how we are running these meetings behind the scenes :)
Akasuki Aichi: lol
Adams Rubble It is near time to go, would you like me to do the log?
Akasuki Aichi: yp
Gaya Ethaniel: would love to
Pema Pera: that would be great, Adams!
Adams Rubble OK
Pema Pera: just follow us, it is nearby.
Pia Iger: nice meeting you, Gaya and Akasuki
