Wol Euler was guardian and commenter, filling in for Gaya.
Wol Euler: hello crusty
My greeting was followed by roughly 10 minutes of silence during which Crusty dozed lightly outside the Playgoda. Then he woke and joined me.
Wol Euler: ah there you are :)
Wol Euler: I'm glad to meet you Crusty, I've been reading your name in logs recently.
Crusty Goldshark: Hi - you read things in trees? Wow!
Wol Euler: of course. What, don't you?
Crusty Goldshark: Not about people - mostly just about tress and their interaction with people trees etc
Wol Euler: fair enough.
Wol Euler: Have you tried the 9 second meditation or other practices?
Crusty Goldshark: 9 seconds is a bit long for me - might start with 1 second and work my way up
Wol Euler: hehehehe
Crusty Goldshark: :)
Wol Euler: whatever floats your boat. The main thing is to do it, all else will arise naturally from that.
Crusty Goldshark: I remember someone being impressed with my '3' prostrations - thinking I was talking in the hundreds - was talking of 3
Wol Euler chucles
Crusty Goldshark: logs float too
Crusty Goldshark: don't have a boat yet
Wol Euler: well, logs were good enough for Jim and Huck Finn ...
Crusty Goldshark: Yes two of my favourite books
Crusty Goldshark: Tom Sawyer
Crusty Goldshark: and Huck Finn
Wol Euler: I haven't read then in probably thirty years. I remember reading "Huck Finn" in high school english class
Wol Euler: I quite enjoyed it despite taht :)
Crusty Goldshark: yep I have not read them in a while
Wol Euler: maybe I'll do that over Christmas ...
Wol Euler: my niece usually supplies me wiht Harry Potters to read, but hte supply seems to have dried up.
Crusty Goldshark: Oh I am going in retreat in Second Life - or third Life if I find it
Wol Euler: ah, that sounds good.
Crusty Goldshark: Yep I have read all the Potter books - am still a Muggle thought ;(
Wol Euler: mmhmm :)
Crusty Goldshark: Did we win?
Wol Euler: for certain values of "win" ...
Crusty Goldshark: Good enough
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Crusty Goldshark: Are you a Buddhist or other cultist?
Wol Euler: I'm a Sensible-ist
Crusty Goldshark: I'm not
Crusty Goldshark: exact opposite
Wol Euler: I try not to believe things that contradict observable reality
Crusty Goldshark: OK
Wol Euler: while noting htat "observable" is neither complete or reliable
Crusty Goldshark: never observed reality - what iis it like?
Wol Euler: kinda messy, but it has its good bits.
Wol Euler: actually the mess is good too, in a way that you have to learn to like
Wol Euler: it's taken me a long time to get to this point :)
Crusty Goldshark: When will I end up wise with all this advice/ ;)
Wol Euler: mmmm, nobody gets wise just from hearing advice, you have to live it.
Crusty Goldshark: mess is good - do I not need to tidy up?
Crusty Goldshark: OK
Wol Euler: sure, you must do what your life requires.
Crusty Goldshark: that seems excessive
Wol Euler: just know that it is incomplete and temporary, and that while the -doing- may make you happy, the thing that you do probaly won't :)
Crusty Goldshark: maybe it requires less effort?
Wol Euler: oh, let me find you a website I discovered, william burroughs talking about Doing Easy.
Crusty Goldshark: Oh no not William Burroughs
Wol Euler: http://wikilicious.org/index.php?page=TheNow
Crusty Goldshark: Not someone I wish to give any time to
Wol Euler: oh yes!
Wol Euler: relax, he's not raving about drugs and/or sex in this one.
Crusty Goldshark: thanks anyway :)
Wol Euler: he has calmed down and become a Sensible-ist ...
Crusty Goldshark: makes no difference - a calmed maniac is still manic
Wol Euler chuckles
Crusty Goldshark: in part . . .
Wol Euler: and yet you describe yourself as "not sensible"?
Crusty Goldshark: OK must be time for me to go and meditate
Crusty Goldshark: BFN
Wol Euler: enjoy your 1 second :)
Wol Euler: take care, crusty. see you around
Crusty Goldshark: CU
