Wol Euler: there is a kind of introduction guide in the Help menu, which tells you the basics of getting along in SL?
Juan Violet: whats happen to tanya??
Quilty Bookmite: Probably computer problems.
Wol Euler: she keeps crashing out, her computer is losing hte connection to SL.
Wol Euler: if she comes back, we can try to fine-tune her settings a little to reduce that
Pila Mulligan: I have that problems sometimes too -- not enough resources to run everything sometimes

Quilty Bookmite: Not yet. I need to wait until she gets back from retreat.
Quilty Bookmite: I wonder if she will come back fired with enthusiasm for Buddhism or with more doubts. :-)
Solobill Laville: maybe a bit of both, which would be good
Quilty Bookmite: Yes. I don;t think it's ever a good idea to get complacent with Buddhism. :-)
Solobill Laville: Yep, it is a methodology like other things are as well
Quilty Bookmite: I'm slightly jealous though. I haven't been on a retreat for about 2 years.

Quilty Bookmite: Storm, we were discussing the possibility of having a home retreat because I haven't been able to go on retreat for the last 2 years.
Storm Nordwind: What defines a home retreat for you?
Quilty Bookmite: Well, I haven't thought too much about it, but I guess I would need some sort of structure. Maybe a schedule but it would have to be flexible.
Quilty Bookmite: Retreats normally consist of meditation and acting mindfully.
Storm Nordwind: Yes indeed. They also need uninterrupted space and sponsored time (even if by oneself)
Quilty Bookmite: I'm not sure the uninterrupted would be possible in my case. :-)
Storm Nordwind: That was my thought!
Solobill Laville: I love the idea though, Quilty

Quilty Bookmite: Yes. Small children don't really understand these concepts. :-)

Storm Nordwind: and I had a vacation job in a carpet factory...
Storm Nordwind: I used to climb to the top of the warehouse amongst the carpet and practise there every day
Storm Nordwind: Perhpas it's a case of finding the time at the moment in what you already have

Storm Nordwind: Yes - a guitar. It has to have well-tempered musical intervals on it, else it would not work :)

Quilty Bookmite: My knowledge of guitar playing is sadly lacking. I tried to learn once on a cheap guitar but overtightened it and bent it out of shape. :-)
Quilty Bookmite: I think it ended up badly tempered and I don't blame it. :-)

Pila Mulligan: Quilty, I have to watch my tongue some times, having learned it doesn't really help to tell someone in a blizzard about the weather Hawai`i, but (disregarding that caution) I was thinking along similar terms about the ordinary environment here, and how naturally conducive it is to contemplation -- like how you describe going to a park or walking around a lake
