Wise words expressed by the dying in a link posted by Alf. But it's as if we never had much choice. Perhaps this article could be a wake up call though. The Buddha encouraged his followers to visit charnel grounds and become familiar with death and get things into perspective.
The house dismantlers are gone today. Rain.
Searching the shelves for a good book.
Notice that the over-sized corner contains books with over-sized themes: astronomy and cosmos, anthropology, World Trade Center, and the infinities of M.C. Escher.
We're a lot better today. Feeling much healthier. Thanks for all the good wishes! And I got a good sleep - which reminds me how one particular teacher (who's well known to us all here) advised his students to get an extra hour's sleep each day from what they were normally accustomed to. By the time I was fully awake, it was already too hot to walk (it's now 80°F), but at least I can get back to that now.
Needed to make bread today. Wanted a change from the white and rye recipe I divined two years ago that I've made every few days since. So I intuited another recipe - itself a deeply spiritual experience - this time for so-called 'plain' white, and it's turned out to be probably the best homemade white I've ever had. Recipe on request!
Karuna-metta meditation in-world.
And I can't resist posting an old Robert Crumb cartoon I stumbled on today. :)
Edit later: Of course I probably overdid it and forgot about the meaning of the word "convalescence" (as I'm feeling distinctly queasy now). Silly boy! edited 04:37, 22 Apr 2012
