I liked this angle on compassion from the book I am reading at the moment. It's by Susan Blackmore, a Zen practitioner and psychologist.
‘When I see people doing horrible things which I’m angry about, then I think through similar kinds of things: they’re just like me, they’re just an organism, they’re just something that’s been brought up with the environment they have, with the pressures they have, with the abilities they have – they are making these decisions and doing these out of all chance and necessity.....I feel actually more able to be compassionate to people by simply seeing them as machines making decisions out of necessity and the environment that they’re in. Somehow I become more one with them. I’m just the same as them – we’re all in it together.’
Karuna-metta this evening. And lots of maintenance and support around the sim for others.
And I'm struggling with a bouncy or non-existent 'm' key. And the screen hinge has broken. A new PC is needed! (And quick.) Perhaps one that will allow me the frame rates everyone else seems to take for granted. And maybe one that allows me to see SL shadows for the first time.

And we know so little about what goes on in people's lives and their background history. Makes it hard to apportion blame, doesn't it?
AWARENESS IS COMPASSION
"In the post-meditation experience or meditation-in-action, when you are working with situations, there is no time to analyze, no time to hold on.
At the same time, there is a gap.
There is no time to refer back to oneself as “I am doing this,” no time to relate with me or ego awareness at all. There is just simple awareness.
That awareness is regarded as the heart of meditation in action.
It is compassion."

Sorry - after yesterday's post, I'm boring today!
