Stories are always about the past or future though aren't they? I have to act in the here and now. 'Narratives' ...another possible topic maybe? :) I help a guy with an English class in SL and today he couldn't come and I had to take it myself. So I started telling myself a story about how I'm not qualified to reach English...but just did it anyway. Events will stop me or not, I only have to try, not worry about outcomes.

Late, but ::::checks in::::

Very inspiring Zen... it has the flavor of PaB's "just try and see" rather than saying ahead of time what one thinks they can or cannot do, or what is or is not the case, even of things that seem givens.

Zen, there are some stories that are written in present tense. By definition they occur in an imaginary here and now. However, this is not the use of present tense quotes to describe events in the past (called the "Historical present"). And anyway, being in the here and now is more immediate than using literary devices!

Today, karuna-metta meditation before acting as PaB guardian, a session I still have to post.

Just occasionally, and very rarely really, I have a sense of being part of history. Usually as a spectator of course! Today was such a case, seeing the shenanigans around the US Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) hopefully drawing to a close. Actually I think there'll be more to say, but it seems an historic moment.

What is this feeling of watching a pivotal moment in history? Where does it come from? I half suspect I'm picking up on mass emotion. Sometimes you can cut it with a knife it's so thick around you, like on 1997-08-31. But it only serves to remind me of this: not everything you feel comes from you, and not everything you think comes from you.
