I was thinking of John Rawl's "veil of ignorance" today. it was a kind of thought experiment where people would choose the best way for a society to live after having had all their knowledge of the way things are at present taken away from them. In a way our knowledge of the way things are acts as a kind of filter or mask that blinds us to new possibilities, doesn't it? Old knowledge and ways of acting can perhaps keep us on a treadmill, keep us in the same old groove, stop us from allowing change in ourselves and others.
That is a really great connection...
'now we see through a glass darkly; then we shall know even as we are known'...
Today has been an appreciative day, connecting with friends... also feeling a lot healthier than I have in days. Practice wise, I am a bit in-between focus intentions, though staying with basic daily practices, including the 55 breaths practice and mantras. Keep missing Karuna metta in world but engaging spontaneously as it feels to come up. Perhaps by day 80 I will have a freshly articulated intention to carry through to day 99. :) edited 00:50, 27 Jun 2012
