Chogyam Trungpa describing Zen sesshin: 'At a certain point, you find that you are so tired and sleepy that the boundary between the day and night begins to dissolve. You are uncertain as to whether you are awake and functioning in the daylight as a normal, ordinary human being, or whether you are dreaming the whole thing. That is prajna all-pervading. When the boundaries begin to become fuzzy, that’s where prajna is taking hold of you.'

Funny that no Zen teacher ever explained that to me...being half asleep is my usual state at these sesshins, and am beginning to see that as not all bad...

"Where I Hide: Ordinary Space, Available Light"

Feeling especially "down" about mostly everything late this afternoon. I skipped the PaB session, filled the bird feeder with sunflower seeds, slumped into the recliner, sipped gin, and more-or-less invited the Apocalypse. Instead, three indigo buntings perched on the feeder -- simultaneously. THREE!

Noticing aging today... legs balking at being pushed the last few days, fingers deciding not to tighten around the handle of my tea cup steadily, that sort of thing.

Really nice quote, Zen! and (((Bruce))) sorry to hear, but how lovely the birdies.

karuna-metta, bit beyond the day, but compassion is timeless. :) edited 05:22, 5 May 2012

Hot hot hot here in Denver today. 96°F here right now (35.5°C). Not walking in that! Even in the cooler parts of the city (the airport) where they measure the "official" temperature, it's record hot.

By the way everybody: "HAPPY STAR WARS DAY!" ;-)) edited 23:15, 4 May 2012
