Coming to the conclusion that equanimity, or the way to equanimity, is doing what needs to be done, what is required, in any particular situation, without adding a lot of extra rumination. But we will find a will and an urge to do just that, and get better at doing just that....or maybe never develop the slightest interest in it...
:) musings on equanimity and credit this morning... thinking of all the practices and prayers in some traditions, including Christian traditions to 'give all the glory up', and a difference between this stance and one of 'hiding' from feedback... basically true character v false humility. The 'giving away' stance isn't a learning to do something, as much as it is a gesture conveying nature's openness, the way of things, acknowledging that there is no place we really leave off and another begins and that anything that happens or we seem to do is made up of many complex factors and part of a dynamic environment at play.
For practice today, a kind of half wake/half sleep sally/wake dreaming/visualization which spontaneously took itself to a somewhat ton glen/intercessory place. edited 23:40, 25 Apr 2012
The house dismantlers have been working hard for five days. Bashing and splintering sounds, continuous other-worldish "music" from their radio, their polite girlfriends requesting use of my bathroom a few times each day. A late day thunderstorm ended their work for today.
