The guardian for this session was Storm Nordwind. The comments are Storm's.
Storm Nordwind: Hello Wol
Wol Euler: evening storm, how are you?
Storm Nordwind: Well I've been rather feverish but I'm improving thank you
Wol Euler: oh dear; and glad to hear it.
Storm Nordwind: The irony of going for a medical examination in the midst of this and coming out "all clear" is not lost on me!
Wol Euler: hmmmmm, what was the cause of your fever then?
Storm Nordwind shrugs
Storm Nordwind: Something going around
Wol Euler: ah.
Storm Nordwind: Scotland harbours many such things
Wol Euler: sheep, whiskey bottles ...
Storm Nordwind: yes
Actually no! We have whisky bottles instead!
Storm Nordwind: And haggises on the mountain sides ;)
Wol Euler: forgot about them. Tricky little devils, the haggises.
Storm Nordwind: They are. They have such a curious life cycle.
Storm Nordwind: So difficult when there are left and right handed varieties
Wol Euler: yes, I heard. Makes them easier to catch, though.
Storm Nordwind: Sure. And if you can get one to turn round so they're facing the wrong way around the mountain, they just topple into the catching nets at the bottom of the valley
Wol Euler: but a true sportsman would never stoop so low.
Storm Nordwind: Sometimes pragmatism and hunger gets in the way
Storm Nordwind: Though I have never done so myself
Storm Nordwind: Honest
Wol Euler raises and eyebrow.
Storm Nordwind smiles
To fill in, the legend is that the Haggis is a small four legged animal
that is especially adapted to life on Scottish hillsides. The legs on
one side of its body are shorter than those on the other side to allow
for the slope. This has led to two varieties of haggis, namely the left
and right handed versions. Sadly each variety can only walk one way
around the hill.
Storm Nordwind: Hello Tarmel
Wol Euler: hello Tarmel
Tarmel Udimo: hey there wol and storm
Wol Euler is in tea-making mode, having been in newbie-helping mode until a few seconds ago and thus having a backlog of things that need doing.
Storm Nordwind: We were discussing the strange beings that Scotland is famous for, namely the haggis, although I have no clue why! ;)
Tarmel Udimo: haggis ? I though that was a food
Storm Nordwind: It is. There may be few vegetarians in Scotland!
Tarmel Udimo: yes those newbie's can be frustrating...
Tarmel Udimo: :-) and the strange beings?
Storm Nordwind: Well there is a story that the haggis is actually a small animal that lives on the sides of Scottish mountains
Tarmel Udimo: ahhhh and yes noticed your comment about retreat re vegge food
Tarmel Udimo: hopefully the wee haggis doesn't get eaten by the fierce warrior tribes of scotland ;-)
Storm Nordwind: Well I'm sure they are properly farmed now! ;)
Storm Nordwind: And the fierce warrior tribes have taken to the football matches
Tarmel Udimo: yes so it would appear
Tarmel Udimo: in fcat I have a little bit of Scottish blood
Storm Nordwind: That is usually after a fight with a Scot
Wol Euler: she keeps it in a little vial!
Wol Euler: boom boom
Wol Euler: ah the old jokes are the best.
Tarmel Udimo: hahahaha we've missed you wol
Storm Nordwind: No Wol. The old jokes are just the oldest!
Tarmel Udimo: my mum's maiden name was farquharson
Storm Nordwind: I think you can get antibiotics for that now
Storm Nordwind ducks
Tarmel Udimo: I hope so - and we have an old painting of my great great grand father sitting on a gravestone of his son at the battle of cullen
Tarmel Udimo: need pillow to throw...
Storm Nordwind: Hi Gaya!
Wol Euler: hello gaya.
Gaya Ethaniel: Hello :) Had problems with tp, apologies for being late
Tarmel Udimo: hi gaya
Wol Euler: we're still in silly mode, no worries.
Storm Nordwind: No problem Gaya. Always delighted to see you
Gaya Ethaniel smiles. Thank you
Gaya had a surprise for us.
Gaya Ethaniel: I made something today, shall I show off?
Wol Euler: please!
Storm Nordwind: Please do!
Tarmel Udimo: wol you found your glasses
Tarmel Udimo: yes please do
Gaya rezzed a slideshow for us.
Wol Euler: ha, I remember that. Ade's rezzday party.
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Wol Euler: oooooh
Wol Euler: are you touching it or is it on a timer?
Gaya Ethaniel: It has a script inside [I didn't write it]
Tarmel Udimo: nice
Wol Euler: nice work.
Gaya Ethaniel: Feels like it was years ago. Thank you :)
Gaya Ethaniel: You want a copy Wol?
Wol Euler: please, thank you.
Tarmel Udimo: you folks are all so talented when it comes to creating in SL I really am going to have to catch-up
Storm Nordwind has to wait 20 secs for each picture to load
Minimum on my slow link. Often more like 50 seconds. Just enough time before ...
Gaya Ethaniel: If others want, let me know please. The script is set at 60 but you can change
Wol Euler: ty
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Wol Euler: that was a nice afternoon :)
Gaya Ethaniel nods
Gaya Ethaniel: There are lots of free classes you can attend to learn Tarmel
Tarmel Udimo: yes?
Wol Euler: yep, and plenty of groups for instant support and assistance.
Gaya Ethaniel: Depends on what you want to learn. Wol knows plenty for sure
Wol Euler: well, I do a little hacking about ...
Tarmel Udimo: ta... looking forward to learning
Wol Euler: Storm is the master builder.
Gaya Ethaniel nods
Storm Nordwind raises his eyebrows in surprise!
Storm Nordwind: Not at all!
Gaya Ethaniel: Yes you are :)
Tarmel Udimo: yes I gathered that but I don't think I'm quite at his level just yet - give me a few weeks eh...
Wol Euler: bosh and tosh and various other things.
Storm Nordwind chuckles!
Storm Nordwind: The important thing always is to have fun doing it
Tarmel Udimo: ahhhh nice pic
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Tarmel Udimo: yes always my motto
Tarmel Udimo: aftre all i'm just a big being rolling around looking for fun
Wol Euler: it's a pretty big club.
Tarmel Udimo: and playing in the universe
Tarmel Udimo: yep
Wol Euler: to me "scripting" is play
Tarmel Udimo: yes?
Tarmel Udimo: even though you use it to earn a living?
Storm Nordwind: Thank you for that Gaya by the way
Gaya Ethaniel smiles. Thanks for letting me show off
Wol Euler: well, not my SL living; but yes, even so.
Storm Nordwind: What better way to earn a living than by play?
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Tarmel Udimo: hummmmmm
What would we do if we had the resources to do what we liked in real
life? Do we know? Have we thought about it? Or had a calling or
realisation? This is the kind of interesting question that the Play as
Being practice seems to encourage to percolate into one's awareness.
Wol Euler: a question for the group apropos play: if you won the lottery tomorrow, would you quit your job?
Tarmel Udimo: did you mean the SL tutorials gaya?
Gaya Ethaniel: I often go to NCI classes [New Citizen Inc.]
Tarmel Udimo: okay
Storm Nordwind: Yes and no Wol! It depends on which one! :)
Tarmel Udimo: yes my thoughts too
Wol Euler: hehehehe
Tarmel Udimo: the one is used to pay the bills yes
Tarmel Udimo: the other no
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Storm Nordwind: If I won the lottery tomorrow, I'd REALLY be in the news. After all, I never buy a ticket!
Wol Euler: lol
Tarmel Udimo: hehehe
Wol Euler: I would keep all my jobs, but I would parcel out my time differently.
Tarmel Udimo: okay
Storm Nordwind: That kind of assumes, Wol, that you are already in your optimum jobs
Tarmel Udimo: yes
Wol Euler: true. I am quite close to that, I guess.
Wol Euler: (not meaning to boast)
Tarmel Udimo: the problem is when I think about winning the lottery the figure keeps going up
Tarmel Udimo: I start think about giving money to family, then friends then charities then this then that
Storm Nordwind's figure just keeps getting broader
Wol Euler chuckles
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Tarmel shared her personal realisation.
Tarmel Udimo: yes but basically I think I realised the other day what I'm really good at is being a 'fixer'
Tarmel Udimo: i can look at a project and see what has to be done and make suggestions that seem to really help people
Storm Nordwind: The world needs people like that
Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Solo :)
Wol Euler nods. A very useful skill.
Tarmel Udimo: hi solo
Storm Nordwind: Hi Solo
Solobill Laville: Hi, friends
Wol Euler: guten abend, herr Laville.
Solobill Laville: guten, abend :)
Wol Euler: ich hatte fast Angst, Du würdest nicht kommen.
Tarmel Udimo: well we're probably always doing that with our own projects... :-)
Gaya Ethaniel opens up Google Translate
Storm Nordwind: I don't know tarmel. An outside look is often the most effective, even if only as a catalyst
Solobill Laville: :)
Wol Euler: /m chuckles. Solo and I were speaking German earlier.
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Tarmel Udimo: yes it helps if one is not emotionally attached to outcomes
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Storm Nordwind: Very true
Wol Euler: and also that the outsider has no "history", doesn't know what won't work :)
Tarmel Udimo: yes often its just a matter of being too close
Solobill Laville: "beginner's mind"?
Wol Euler: exactly.
Tarmel Udimo: mummmm
Storm Nordwind: So how are you going to apply your new found vocation Tarmel?
Tarmel Udimo: yes I know... good question
Tarmel Udimo: well apart from manifesting it by putting it out there into the universe I'm not sure
Storm Nordwind: It's a good step 1
Storm Nordwind: You can now be alert to opportunities that may have previously passed you by
Wol Euler nods
Tarmel Udimo: yes in fact it was confirmed for my yesterday - I was asked by two different people to come and discuss the projects they were working on . and left with providing a result but no $
Tarmel Udimo: Story of my life... :-)
Storm Nordwind: You also left with something else...
Storm Nordwind: ... a reputation
Wol Euler: doesn't matter. If you continue to provide goodness, the money will follow.
Tarmel Udimo: thanks storm - very good point
Solobill Laville: That's worth more than a few dollars... :)
We had a visitor and Wol kindly did the introductions in IM.
Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Alianaluz Rivera: hello everyone
Wol Euler: hello aliana
Alianaluz Rivera: hello wol
Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Alianaluz
Tarmel Udimo: yes hadn't though about that... see wonderful PaB
Wol Euler: have you been here before?
Alianaluz Rivera: hello gaya
Alianaluz Rivera: no
Solobill Laville: Welcome, then!
Alianaluz Rivera: thank you
Wol Euler: ok, I'll give you an introduction in IM so that we don't disturb the group.
Alianaluz Rivera: ok thank you
Solobill Laville: I'm interested to read back later what your new vocation is Tarmel :)
Tarmel Udimo: being a 'fixer'
Solobill Laville: ah...
Solobill Laville: In what regards?
Tarmel Udimo: there are many working in non-profit organisations :)
Solobill Laville: (or I can read later)
Tarmel Udimo: i can look at a project and see what has to be done and make suggestions that seem to really help people
Solobill Laville: Sounds like performance improvement to me :)
Tarmel Udimo: yeah I have a friend who does that... but corporate life doesn't interest me
Solobill Laville: yes I can understand that, that is specifically what I do to pay the bills...
Tarmel Udimo: tell us more
Solobill Laville: I consult with organizations regarding performance improvement and training initiatives
Solobill Laville: Doesn't have to be corporate necessarily though, but that is where most of the business is...
Wol Euler: do you find them or they you? and how?
Tarmel Udimo: brb
Solobill Laville: Mostly finding them, but word of mouth plays a big role
Alianaluz Rivera: only when im procrastinating
Alianaluz Rivera: :)
Wol Euler smiles. that was a reply to me btw: whether Aliana meditates.
Alianaluz Rivera: o pardon!
Solobill Laville: But there is great opportunity to help non-profits of ccourse
Wol Euler: no worries, it happens all the time in SL.
Solobill Laville: :)
The hour was approaching and goodies awaited.
Storm Nordwind: Can I remind people there is an event in the Kira Cafe starting in a few minutes?
Solobill Laville: ah, yes!
Wol Euler: indeed.
Storm Nordwind: There's a talk entitled "What's light got to do with it?" given by Kered Juran
Storm Nordwind: In RL, Kered is astrophysics professor at the University of Maryland
Wol Euler: (the kira cafe is a virtual bar associated with us, Aliana. Good beer on tap and never a hangover.
Storm Nordwind: I will, very sadly, have to miss it due to previous commitments with a feverish head! ;) But it promises to be an interesting talk on asteroids.
Wol Euler chuckles sympathetically.
Gaya Ethaniel: ooo, I may go
Wol Euler: Solo and I have an urgent appointment to raise a glass or two in the cafe :)
Storm Nordwind: "Kered Juran will talk about his work on asteroids. He recently got a lot of attention for his realization that apart from gravity, plain old sunlight can in fact affect the behavior of asteroids much more than was previously believed."
Wol Euler: happy new year, fefonz.
Storm Nordwind: Hi Fefonz. We'll be wrapping up here now. Time to go to a Cafe talk!
Solobill Laville: :) no worries Fefonz
Fefonz Quan: Hi All,
Alianaluz Rivera: hello fefonz
Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Fefonz :)
Fefonz Quan: solved some connection troubles,
Gaya Ethaniel: Hope all's well with your parents
Fefonz Quan: All's well, thanks Gaya1
Wol Euler: O.O
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Wol Euler: oh dear. and glad to hear it.
Solobill Laville: yes, me too, Fefonz
Gaya Ethaniel: Good night Storm and others or see you at the cafe
Storm Nordwind: http://www.localendar.com/public/The...itute?style=D2 is the events board for the Kira Cafe
Storm Nordwind: You're welcome to come Alianluz
Tarmel Udimo: I am back- desperately needed a morning cup of tea before my morning cup of coffee
Wol Euler: heheheh
Wol Euler: priorities!
Solobill Laville: lol
Fefonz Quan: So see you all at the cafe?
Solobill Laville: We'd best be off...
Wol Euler: yep
Storm Nordwind: OK. Time to head for the Kira Cafe
Fefonz Quan: good :)
Wol Euler: aliana, would you like to come?
Alianaluz Rivera: sure
Alianaluz Rivera: where is it?
Tarmel Udimo: cafe is it?
Alianaluz Rivera accepted your inventory offer.
Alianaluz Rivera: thank you
Wol Euler: ok, we'll take the balloon!
Storm Nordwind: Bye guys
Wol Euler: follow me, aliana
Storm Nordwind: Please follow the landmark I gave you
Tarmel Udimo: bye storm feel better
