((** Geo substituted for Pema as guardian for this meeting. **))
PaB Listener Master: Recording has started!
((** Geo sat alone for the first 5 minutes so he began to play with the autologger, the fountain, the pool, the pavilion …. fortunately, Fefonz showed up before he could do much damage. **))
Fefonz Quan: Hello Geo
Geo Netizen: Hi Fefonz
Geo Netizen: Didn't see you arrive :)
Fefonz Quan: yes, i teleport silently :)
Geo Netizen: and I was playing with the autologger
Fefonz Quan: yes, it's a nice feature
Geo Netizen: Pema usually covers this spot but his last day
in Kyoto is upon him and he wanted to tuck into it.
Geo Netizen: So I’m sitting in :)
Fefonz Quan: yeah, i've read the email.
Geo Netizen: If the first 10 minutes are an indication, it
should be easy to prep the log :)
Fefonz Quan: yes, it will. So we should keep quite in order
to help that :)
Geo Netizen: Maxine's Dream Workshop at the Kira at 2 SLT
look interesting
((** Events Transcripts for the Kira Institute are posted at http://www.kira.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=84&Itemid=114 so this workshop should eventually be available. The 2008.12.10 transcript for a previous “Dreams and Fantasy” presentation by Maxine is there now: 2009.01.28 **))
Geo Netizen: I wish I could make it but I have a conflict
Fefonz Quan: yep, planning to go there afterwards
Geo Netizen: My time is SLT +2 so these afternoon events on
weekdays can be a little tough
Fefonz Quan: SLT+3 for me though
Geo Netizen nods at the chime
((** That is the 13:15 chime **))
Fefonz Quan: are you involved in the phenomenology workshop group?
((** The link above for the Kira Institute also has transcripts of several Phenomenology workshops **))
Geo Netizen: They graciously permit me to be an observer
even though I am not directly participating in the experiments
Geo Netizen: I am still too much into the analysis of
Husserl’s work
Fefonz Quan: nice :) (being a part of 'they' i wouldn't want
to be accused in something worse :)
Fefonz Quan: in what manner do you perform this analysis?
Geo Netizen: Thinking not experiencing is how I might put it
Fefonz Quan: and reading specific stuff, books etc. ?
Geo Netizen: At some point I do hope to more it into the
experiential
Fefonz Quan looks for some useful bibliography :)
Geo Netizen: Yes .... working my way through Logical
Investigations
Geo Netizen: *move it
Fefonz Quan: ?
Geo Netizen: Just correcting a typo above :)
Fefonz Quan: ah, got it :)
Fefonz Quan: (off-topic - how come i can't see or hear you
type?)
((** A little diversion into SL programming issues. See http://www.sltutorials.net/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=search&Itemid=26&cat_id=47&searchword=Animation%20Override for more on Animation Override **))
Geo Netizen: Not sure .... must be my AO
Fefonz Quan: AO?
Geo Netizen: Hmmmm now that you ask .... can't find what AO
stand for ... will keep looking
Geo Netizen: Ahhh … Animation Override
Fefonz Quan: well, i guess you meant something when using it
(though it could be very Zen not to :))
Fefonz Quan: ah, it's a a kind of configuration parameter?
Geo Netizen: Yes, you 'wear' it and it changes certain
aspects of you animation
Fefonz Quan: i see. a wearable feature.
((** Back to the previous topic and clearing up a little confusion: Geo was referring to the seminal work by Edmund Husserl titled “Logical Investigations”. The link http://www.husserlpage.com/ provides a number of useful links including one to a complete bibliography. Also the following link is to a goggle preview of the actual book Geo referred to http://books.google.com/books?id=CLvqkfLm9l4C&dq=logical+investigations+husserl&printsec=frontcover&source=bl&ots=FxMKHh9IrM&sig=NXgZyAbuQT12eKVAb_cZtK2SwBc&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=1&ct=result#PPP1,M1 **))
Fefonz Quan: leaving these boring issues, do you have a
certain book to recommend concerning Husserl's work?
Geo Netizen: I am reading Findlay's translation which has an
excellent introduction
Geo Netizen: beyond that I have no recommendations since I'm
rather new to the topic
Geo Netizen: O .... the editor is Dermot Moran
Fefonz Quan: Oh, i see it now on the web, i understand now
my initial confusion - i didn't understand that when you wrote "Logical
Investigations" you pointed to a specific title. it could feet into your
phrasing fluently as a general term :)
Geo Netizen: Ahhh ..... sorry .... yes it can
((** Things can appear so clear and unambiguous within the confines of our mind. **))
Geo Netizen: Did I understand correctly that you are
participating in the experiments?
Fefonz Quan: well, yes. though i have to admit that i did
poorly with the reports so far
Geo Netizen: The mix of real name ... email address ... and
Sl names can be confusing
((** Geo was referring to his experience of having contact with the same person under their RL name, their SL name and with their email as an ID and not knowing they were all the same -Being-. **))
Fefonz Quan: yes, somehow i started in SL and used partially
my regular email, and the after a while, noticing the confusion, i felt it's
too late to revert to the SL name email. Clearly the issue is that i'm
participating in certain groups with this name already
Geo Netizen: Ahh … the 1:45 chime ….
Geo Netizen: Perhaps this is a good place to stop for you to
get to Kira for Maxine’s presentation and me back to work
((** Figuring he had reached his peak of insight for the day when he figured out what AO was, Geo typed the previous line and hit the enter key 1.855x1043 Plank time before Fefonz keyed his very interesting comment on the article. What article? What kind of experiments? A particular style of meditation? How similar? Hmmm …. another path not traveled. Perhaps another time. **))
Fefonz Quan: curiously i read an article just before getting
here, that offered 3 "experiments" or meditations, that are similar
to the pheno
Fefonz Quan: sure, no problem.
Fefonz Quan: have a nice evening :)
Geo Netizen: I hope you enjoy the talk
Geo Netizen: and have a great evening
Fefonz Quan: was starting to :)
((** Thus ends another Geo sub session. Pema should be back in his regular slot next time so all is well **))
PaB Listener Master: Recording has stopped, the session is ended.
((** All Is Well
Whate'er you dream, with doubt possessed,
Keep, keep it snug within your breast,
And lay you down and take your rest;
And when you wake, to work again,
The wind it blows, the vessel goes,
And where and whither, no one
knows.
'Twill all be well: no need of care;
Though how it will, and when, and where,
We cannot see, and can't declare.
In spite of dreams, in spite of thought,
'Tis not in vain, and not for nought,
The wind it blows, the ship it goes,
Though where and whither, no one
knows.
Arthur Hugh Clough **))
