That morning I, Pema, was the guardian on call. Soon after I arrived, Susi dropped in as well.

    Pema Pera: Hi Susi!!
    Susi Alcott: hi Pema
Pema Pera: good seeing you again
    Susi Alcott: same here
Pema Pera: you seem to carry a sense of peace around with you :-)
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
    Pema Pera: q(^_^)p

A few times I had been meaning to ask Susi about his work as a healer, but somehow there hadn't yet been a natural chance, with group discussions each time moving in different directions. This time I took the opportunity, but I first IMed Susi to ask him whether this was an okay topic to talk about publicly. Susi responded via IM that I was free to choose, and repeated that in local chat:

Susi Alcott: you may ask me anything
Susi Alcott: I do my best to answer
    Pema Pera: :)
Pema Pera: I would be happy to hear a bit more about your approach to healing
Pema Pera: You've told me a bit at different occasions
Pema Pera: so I have some idea
Pema Pera: is it something that happens completely spontaneously, or is there something you "do" or "let happen"?
    Susi Alcott: all of that...
    Pema Pera: yes, Susi?
Susi Alcott: but mostly I just am
Susi Alcott: sometimes it's needed for me to do something
Pema Pera: how did you discover the power of "just am"?
Susi Alcott: I'de say that it's been something 'there's been' whole my this incarnation
Susi Alcott: still I'de say that more it is the question of the help needers openenness to receive...
Susi Alcott: in a way there's nothing for me to give....
Pema Pera: can you help them opening up more to receive better?
Susi Alcott: when I can touch
Susi Alcott: U see; all of the ppl do have so called naturall defence to one's own privacy
Susi Alcott: even if one do ask my help, that is not for me to chooce, but if I can touch
Susi Alcott: then I can brake that naturall sheald
Susi Alcott: so many simply cannot open themselves to recieve no matter they want to
Susi Alcott: specially when there's in a question such illness/problem
Susi Alcott: that one has got by long time and just got used to live with it
Susi Alcott: that I'de yes say that then I do
    Susi Alcott: hm
Susi Alcott: sure I also need information
    Susi Alcott: and the request
Susi Alcott: the request I can receive on the spiritual level
    Pema Pera: without words?
Susi Alcott: then I ask the person
    Susi Alcott: yes
Susi Alcott: sure I give my attention then immediately, but I feel always need to speak with the person too
Susi Alcott: that I can share the needed knowledge
Susi Alcott: that one can learn what is the issue of the illness/prob
Susi Alcott: to heal is to grow
    Susi Alcott: to understand more

    Fael arrived, and joined us.

Pema Pera: morning, Fael, or afternoon :)
    Susi Alcott: hi Fael
Fael Illyar: Hi Susi, Pema :)
Pema Pera: Fael, Susi is telling me about his approach to healing
    Fael Illyar: Ah :)
Susi Alcott: one thing I know that I dont want to do
Susi Alcott: that is to 'sell force'
Susi Alcott: many ppl do that; they give healing without guidence
Susi Alcott: that is to 'heal' only what's there to the help needer to feel; not to know the reason
Susi Alcott: not to learn to know it
Fael Illyar: Yes, that only helps that one time. Understanding on how it happened will help in future too.
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
Susi Alcott: that is also that even there's
Susi Alcott: much base to 'guess' the reason
Susi Alcott: each person is individual
Susi Alcott: so nothing should ever assume, but to find all there's included
Susi Alcott: maybe that's what you called to be spontanious

    And so did Moon.

    Fael Illyar: Hi Moon :)
    Susi Alcott: hi Moon
Pema Pera: yes, a natural way of being spontaneous, in a non-doing way, wu-wei
    Pema Pera: hi Moon!
    Moon Fargis: ^^/
    Susi Alcott: smiles
Fael Illyar rubs Moon's fluffy head.
    Moon Fargis purrrrrrsssssssss
Susi Alcott: ...not to exist myself; let only the help needer exist...
Pema Pera: not to exist, only to be ?
Susi Alcott: maybe even not to be; to 'be' the help needer...
    Susi Alcott: hard to explane...
Pema Pera: I think I can get some sense
Pema Pera: I sometimes try to express it as "stepping aside"
    Susi Alcott: feeling you do
    Susi Alcott: near that
Pema Pera: Being is not personal
    Pema Pera: not even shared
    Susi Alcott: that's it
Pema Pera: shared would suggest a bridge
Susi Alcott: so you 'got it' very well
Pema Pera: it is before even the possibility of a bridge
Pema Pera: it is there where there is no possibility of separation
    Susi Alcott: yes
    Susi Alcott: yes
Pema Pera: that is wonderful that you can use that as a practical resource
Susi Alcott: felt a 'click' in you to happen

Yes, throughout this whole conversation with Susi I felt a sense of peace and stillness that I associate with a kind of retreat atmosphere, with contemplation and silent admiration and appreciation of anything, landscape or person or any apperance whatsoever. Rather hard to put into words. Mental chattering stopping. A sense of shared stopping, extending to a physical, physiological level of relaxation and almost literal change in atmosphere. I had noticed this several times before, when talking with Susi.

Pema Pera: insofar as Play as Being has a goal, the goal is to apply it
Pema Pera: without their beying an applyer
Susi Alcott: as I have not been so much present even you dont need help but to understand more...
Pema Pera: or anything to apply
    Susi Alcott: ...was you...
Susi Alcott: so you recieved the knowledge cuz you was open
Pema Pera: yes, even in SL we can exchange when open . . .
Pema Pera: (exchange is then not the right word -- drink from the same source)
Pema Pera: ((share the drinking itself))
    Susi Alcott: that's it
    Fael Illyar smiles.
Pema Pera: can anyone learn that approach to healing, and to life, you think?
Susi Alcott: your are master of words
    Fael Illyar: why not?
Pema Pera: when talking with you, it helps a lot, Susi, to step aside for the words to come out :-)
Susi Alcott: all who do want to
    Pema Pera: really want to . . . .
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
Pema Pera: and really believe they can
Pema Pera: can you help them to do that? the wanting/believing?
    Pema Pera: the "really" part?
Fael Illyar ponders... Faenik is being left out ... I don't even feel like wearing him again...
Susi Alcott: nobody can be teached, but each one has the possibility to learn
Susi Alcott: my given love may help ppl to get rid of there fears
    Fael Illyar: Hi Steve :)
    Pema Pera: Hi there Steve!
    Susi Alcott: hi stevenaia
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello
Susi Alcott: that can help them to see there will to learn

Stevenaia joined us, and Susi continued to describe his way of healing.

Pema Pera: so love is something that can be given without being asked for while healing has to be asked for -- just curious whether there is a difference
Susi Alcott: but I cannot chooce for anybody; sure not
Fael Illyar: isn't healing the giving of Love?
Moon Fargis: love my friend... is always there
Susi Alcott: genuin love is always to give ...share...
Susi Alcott: part of the healing is that; sure; essential base
Moon Fargis: but you can let it grow throught your own in others
Susi Alcott: but knowledge is mostly needed to
Fael Illyar: Ah, of course :)
Susi Alcott: that is also, that in case the reason for the illness/prob comes from around
Susi Alcott: the illness/prob do not go away before that something around do change
Susi Alcott: but shared love gives strength to one to 'survive'
    Pema Pera: -/!\_
    Pema Pera: _/!\--/!\_
    Moon Fargis: *meow meow*
Pema Pera: have you ever tried to heal through SL, if I may ask?
Moon Fargis: steve: got the notice?
Susi Alcott: saved few lifes 'through' SL too
    Pema Pera: that's wonderful!
Pema Pera: can you say how?
Susi Alcott: many different ways ppl have come to me
Susi Alcott: some have connected me to there beloved one who's needed help
Susi Alcott: there's no matter how the connection comes
Susi Alcott: as the connection is always also spiritual
Susi Alcott: the only lag what comes to SL is that I cannot touch
Fael Illyar: would touch by proxy be possible?
Susi Alcott: one person there's been that asked my help
Susi Alcott: but didn't receive it cuz she didn't accept her to be a prisoner of the wrong teaching
Susi Alcott: her I should've been able to touch
Pema Pera: ah, yes, I can see how that would have helped greatly, to cut through such barriers
Susi Alcott: she left SL for good cuz she had created so much problems by her behavier; using ppl
Susi Alcott: so she couldn't trust that anybody truely would've want to help her
Susi Alcott: so her doubts was the 'sheald'...the wall that she couldn't receive the help

I returned to Susi's opening words, refering to "is", "mostly I just am", and explored a connection with Being, as in "Play as Being".

Pema Pera: while that was an extreme case, do you think that in some way all barriers are caused by doubt, lack of trust in the possibility to open for what "is"?
    Susi Alcott: yes; indeed
Pema Pera: so to get over that doubt, "playing as if" we are already this "is", would be a good approach for opening op to the possibility of letting yourself be healed?
    Susi Alcott: truely
Fael Illyar: that still keeps the doubts but does weaken them greatly.
Pema Pera: so your approach in healing and "play as Being" are very close then
    Susi Alcott: smiles
Susi Alcott: nice way to express 'me'
    Susi Alcott: thank you
    Pema Pera: _/!\_
Pema Pera: yes, Fael, it is all gradual
stevenaia Michinaga: can you speak of the difference between healing and compassion
    Susi Alcott: no
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Susi Alcott: I dont see any difference there
    Fael Illyar smiles.
    Susi Alcott: ...meaning my 'attitude'....
Susi Alcott: in case there is some
stevenaia Michinaga: it give me a better understand... with a word
    stevenaia Michinaga: *gives
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
    Moon Fargis purrrrrrsssssssss
Susi Alcott: so; everybody who's willing can be the healer
Pema Pera: Susi, thank you so much for this conversation. I have always felt that your approach and the Play as Being approach were very similar, but this is the first time that we were able to talk it through, so to speak, to uncover the similarity, no, the identity really.
Pema Pera: and everybody who is willing can play as Being
Pema Pera: but the problem is that you first have to drop the idea that Being is an idea . . . .
Pema Pera: and you have to learn to work with Being by allowing Being to work through you
Susi Alcott: and that is something I think that cannot be learned
Susi Alcott: that is something to which one go grow
    Susi Alcott: do
Pema Pera: yes, but perhaps the not knowing how to can be unlearned?
    Pema Pera: dropped?
    Susi Alcott: yes
Pema Pera: growing by dropping what is in the way, the shields?
    Susi Alcott: 'dropped youself'
    Pema Pera: yes
Pema Pera: so the real answer is that there is no growing :)
Pema Pera: even though it looks that way from the outside

I was really glad that we could find such concrete points of connection between Play as Being as an overall approach, and Susi's healing as a specific way of letting Being or "is" or "am" be effective in everyday life. At this point Will arrived.

    Fael Illyar: Hello Will :)
    Will Sveiss: hi
stevenaia Michinaga: hello Will, have you been here before?
Susi Alcott: good also to remember that each person has individual purpose to one's life
    Will Sveiss: no
stevenaia Michinaga: I will IM you some background
    Susi Alcott: hi Will
Pema Pera: yes, whether they know it or not . . . .
Fael Illyar: even so, the purpose is their own. Not someone else's.
Susi Alcott: mostly that is so
Pema Pera: but others can help them to stop denying their own purpose, to see it clearer
Susi Alcott: yet; there's not so many ppl living on Earth only for onself
    Pema Pera: :)
Pema Pera: Susi, I have a difficult question, and I am not sure how to say it, but let me try
Susi Alcott: pls feel free to do so
Pema Pera: from the way of looking of Being, of "is" or "am" there is nothing that needs to be done
    Susi Alcott: yes there is
Pema Pera: so if we (or not-we) can "really" take that position/way/approach, then in principle all barriers to healing would be transparent
    Pema Pera: would be gone
Pema Pera: or is that too hopeful?

Vector joined us as well, like Will arriving at PaB for the first time.

    Pema Pera: Hi Vector!
Susi Alcott: in case I understand right, that You mean that it would be possible to help all of the people with all of the problems
    Fael Illyar: Hello Vector.
Susi Alcott: that is not possible
Pema Pera: well, that would be the most extreme case, yes . . . .
    Vector Marksman: Hi
Pema Pera: and that sounds impossible, I agree
Susi Alcott: it's more the question of 'timing'
Moon Fargis: when you help one you help the world
Pema Pera: I was wondering where the borderline of the possible lies then
    Susi Alcott: yes
Pema Pera: Hi Vector, come join us!
Susi Alcott: the base need to the possibility to heal is that one has already learned 'something'
Pema Pera: Vector, have you been here before?
Susi Alcott: the second need is one's will to be healed
stevenaia Michinaga: wouldn't healing work on many levels, healing the person, and healing the earth be similar?
    Susi Alcott: I once wrote down this;
Vector Marksman: no I have not been here but I am interested. sorry if i came in the middle
    Vector Marksman: I will listen
Pema Pera: No problem, Vector! We get together a few times a day to chat about the nature of reality, and everything else, and we have a wiki http://playasbeing.wik.is/ -- We record our conversations there. Do you mind being included in our blogs?
    Vector Marksman: no
    Pema Pera: thank you!
Susi Alcott: 'how ever people can find any peace when the planet is suffering'
Susi Alcott: sure the planet effects to human being much
    Susi Alcott: yet
Will Sveiss: I find that my work on myself helps me relate with others. I hope it helps me be more effective as well
Susi Alcott: human being is not a prisoner of Earth or Space
Susi Alcott: but in case one's belief makes that to be so
Fael Illyar: Will, it will do that and more :)
Susi Alcott: so ppl do have the possibility
Susi Alcott: like one can have peace among huge events around
Susi Alcott: it's just more and more difficult, the more there is pain in the ground and surrounding
Will Sveiss: so my question is - how much of having peace is just withdrawal from what is real - solipsism?

Alas, it was time for me to go, much as I would have loved to hear more of Will's and Vector's thoughts.

Pema Pera: Thank you again, Susi! We've been here for an hour now, so perhaps we should continue some other time, at least for me: it is past 1 am now here in Kyoto . . . but I'd love to hear your views of time, next time :-)
Pema Pera: Sorry Will and Vector, hope to see you both soon again
    Will Sveiss: thank you
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
Pema Pera: Steve or Fael, can you catch the rest of the chat?
    stevenaia Michinaga: looks up "solipsism"
Moon Fargis: will: peace is nothing you fill up like a bottle with water
Fael Illyar: Will, peace is acceptance of the surroundings, not withdrawing from what is there.
Vector Marksman: thank you, now that I have discovered this place and how to get here
Moon Fargis: peace ir more empty this bottle of water
Will Sveiss: solipsism would be like, getting lost in a dreamworld
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye Pema
Moon Fargis: will: we are already lost
    Pema Pera: ciao!
    Will Sveiss: bye pema

Later, Fael would point me to the autologger, from which I picked up the rest of the text, while I include here below.

    Moon Fargis: bye
    Vector Marksman: bye
Moon Fargis: will: cus dreamworld is just a definition for yourself what is real and not
Susi Alcott: to me that is to get the peace is to ignore sad things
Susi Alcott: to surrender to love
    Moon Fargis: hmm susi
Moon Fargis: i doubt a peacefull mind can be archived by ignorance
Susi Alcott: and let it to rule over
Moon Fargis: but you might mean "fade away"
Susi Alcott: not to let them to effect
    Moon Fargis: yes
Susi Alcott: let the love to be the winner at the moment
Moon Fargis: oh i have to go for a while
Moon Fargis: see you soon my friends
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
    Will Sveiss: good bye
    Vector Marksman: bye
Fael Illyar: see you later Moon :)
Fael Illyar: see you later Vector.
    stevenaia Michinaga: thank you Susi
stevenaia Michinaga: your word ring true to me
    stevenaia Michinaga: words
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
Susi Alcott: I thank Pema to ask and you to listen and hear
Susi Alcott: I have not said anything new
Fael Illyar: peace is realizing that the chaos around you is not something that can threaten you.
Susi Alcott: or that you can deal with it
Will Sveiss: I think you're right fael
Will Sveiss: that gives you strength to deal with it
stevenaia Michinaga: Nobody says anything new, they just say it differently, and possibly better
Fael Illyar: Of course, Steve :)
Fael Illyar: but each line is for someone specific. Everyone needs something different to understand.
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Susi Alcott: when the chaos hurts, one may still have peace, if one do know of the help that one is not alone
Fael Illyar: speaking of which... what is hurt?
Susi Alcott: but in case the chaos hurts more than the limits of human body can deal with
Susi Alcott: there's nothing to help
Susi Alcott: that is to hurt; to break the balance completely
    Will Sveiss: well
    Will Sveiss: I'm headed out
    Will Sveiss: peace to all
Fael Illyar: Sure, see you later Will :)
Fael Illyar: I hope to see you here again :)
    Will Sveiss: thank you
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
    stevenaia Michinaga: Bye Will
