The guardian for this meeting was Stevenaia and the comments are Stevenaia’s (Sylectra thanks Stevenaia for the last-minute stand-in).

stevenaia arrives to find Pila Mulligan with Corvuscorva Nightfire and Adelene Dawner not far behind.

An evening of light conversation ensues

    Pila Mulligan: hello Steve

stevenaia Michinaga: sylectra will be asking me for the log later

Pila Mulligan: :) my SL connection is acting funny, as usual

stevenaia Michinaga: I see she's not here tonight, unless she asked you

    Pila Mulligan: nope

    Pila Mulligan: how are you?

stevenaia Michinaga: had a rather chaotic day

    Pila Mulligan: me too

stevenaia Michinaga: and an interesting meeting this evening that I almost missed by oversleeping from my nap

    Pila Mulligan: :) Stim's?

stevenaia Michinaga: yikes I better retype that

    stevenaia Michinaga: no RL meeting

    Pila Mulligan: ah, rl

stevenaia Michinaga: yeah I can come to a meeting here asleep

    Pila Mulligan: :)

stevenaia Michinaga: one of my distractions is serving on a Regional Planning Commission

Pila Mulligan: I can imagine that would be interesting

    Pila Mulligan: hello Adelene

stevenaia Michinaga: well I am easily entertained, so that isn’t saying much

    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Ade

    Pila Mulligan: hi Corvi

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Hi, Pila, Steve.

    Adelene Dawner: Hi Steve, Pila.

    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Corvi

stevenaia Michinaga: we are waiting for the official guardian to arrive, I think she forgot

    Pila Mulligan: :) Sylectra ?

    stevenaia Michinaga: yes

Pila Mulligan: the pun of her full name just dawned in my alleged brain yesterday

stevenaia Michinaga: I will get her the log

Adelene Dawner ponders... and snerks. "Hadn't noticed that, Pila."

    Pila Mulligan: :)

    stevenaia Michinaga: ok, explain pun

    Adelene Dawner: .. selection...

    stevenaia Michinaga: kk

Pila Mulligan: Sylectra Darwin -- natural selection

    stevenaia Michinaga: got it

    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs.

Pila Mulligan: kind of subtle for some, such as myself :)

stevenaia Michinaga: always tough when you come here to find an appropriate last name

Pila Mulligan: yes it is, and I did not spend much time at it

Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs as she looks at hers and Ade's...

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Dawner and Nightfire.

    Pila Mulligan: :)

    Adelene Dawner: heh

Pila Mulligan: did anyone attend Stim's session earlier -- I wish I had not had to miss it

There is a very big peanut recall in the States. stevenaia weighs the costs of an intestinal illness versus not eating his favorite indulgence.

stevenaia Michinaga: wondering if the peanut-butter in my Ben and Jerry's ice cream will cause illness

Corvuscorva Nightfire: If you ain't died yet you're probably ok

    Pila Mulligan: ooooh, bad thought

    stevenaia Michinaga: thanks.....

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: welcome

stevenaia Michinaga: do the Kira Cafe sessions get logged somewhere?

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: nope

Pila Mulligan: what a bummer, ruining ice cream with tainted peanut butter

Pila Mulligan: eventually -- but the first one of Stim's was voice

stevenaia Michinaga: yeah, how very unfortunate

Pila Mulligan: so it probably will not

Pila Mulligan: I was wondering if this one was also voice, today

stevenaia Michinaga: I think if I cook it it'll be ok

    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs.

Pila Mulligan: yes, fried ice cream and pb

stevenaia Michinaga: for the record, it's "chubby hubby"

    stevenaia Michinaga: *record

Pila Mulligan: a favorite decadence: heat some canned cake icing, put it on top of a bowl of bananas, ice cream and peanut butter

    Corvuscorva Nightfire grins..the best one.

Pila Mulligan: helps make chubby tubby

stevenaia Michinaga: we can see that Pila

Pila Mulligan: you're as bad as the carpenter Steve

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: HIya, Adams!

Pila Mulligan: he put on the composite deck board and looked at the warranty and said, well it will last for YOUR lifetime any way

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: nice locket!

    Pila Mulligan: hi Adams

    stevenaia Michinaga: lol

    AdamsRubble: Hello everyone :)

stevenaia Michinaga: hello adams, finally someone serious arrives...wink

    AdamsRubble: whoops

Corvuscorva Nightfire: thanks for lowering that.

stevenaia Michinaga: yes, I really like the option to change that thing

    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: sooooo

stevenaia Michinaga: Storm is a doll

Corvuscorva Nightfire: anyone have any revelations about the 9 seconds tonight?

AdamsRubble: It took me 9 seconds to decide which hair I wanted tonight :)

Corvuscorva Nightfire nods to Steve's comment, and laughs at Adams

stevenaia Michinaga: I am very interested at the results of the summer retreat in August

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: in what way?

stevenaia Michinaga: intensity of focus for a week

    stevenaia Michinaga:

    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.

stevenaia Michinaga: are you going Adams?

AdamsRubble: no I am having some technical problems

Corvuscorva Nightfire: I think he meant to the retreat?

    AdamsRubble: hehe

AdamsRubble: I am signed up to go

Adams Rubble can't control the confounded camera tonight

stevenaia Michinaga: as I was typing that I may have been asking both going away and going to retreat

Adams Rubble thanks Steve for covering :)

Pila Mulligan: Adams, I just noticed in your profile that your first SL name relates to the colonial Adams family -- are you aware of the coincidence of the deaths of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson?

    AdamsRubble: yes I am

    Pila Mulligan: isn't that interesting

AdamsRubble: But Abigail was gone before then so she didn’t notice

    Pila Mulligan: ahh :)

AdamsRubble: yes it is quite a coincidence

    Pila Mulligan: for the record

... they had been friends on July 4, 1776, and during the early years, then they became political adversaries, then friends again in old age -- they died within hours of each other the 50th anniversary of the declaration of independence, on July 4, 1826

Pila Mulligan: doesn't that mean something ... :)

Pila Mulligan: like far out ...

    Adams Rubble doesn’t know

AdamsRubble: Sometimes people set a goal to reach a certain age of time and then die immediately afterward

    AdamsRubble: or time

    Pila Mulligan: hmmm

Corvuscorva Nightfire had to talk her grandma out of "100 then I'm dead"

Pila Mulligan: maybe the just wanted to reach the 50th anniversary then

    AdamsRubble: yes

Corvuscorva Nightfire: she really thought for a while that was as old as she'd get.

    Pila Mulligan: :)

    AdamsRubble: yes :)

Corvuscorva Nightfire points to granny's birthday last November...and her going strong still

Adelene Dawner knew someone who *did* that.

AdamsRubble: very few of us will get that far :)

Corvuscorva Nightfire nods. yeah..but...if we do..then...we might live longer.

Pila Mulligan: saw a new article yesterday about a 124 year old lady --had a video, too, she seemed quite active

Adelene Dawner: When I worked at the nursing home, we got a lady in, she was 99, *swore* she wouldn't live to be 100... well, she did, but she was dead of pneumonia two weeks later - and she'd been perfectly healthy except for a little Alzheimer's before that.

Pila Mulligan: so the chosen goal may be the final object it seems

    AdamsRubble: For some people

    Adelene Dawner nods.

AdamsRubble: So maybe it would have been more of a coincidence if John Adams and Thomas Jefferson had died five days earlier together

    Adams Rubble giggles

    Corvuscorva Nightfire grins.

Pila Mulligan: yes, that is a sensible inference Adams

    Adams Rubble takes Steve's pulse

    AdamsRubble: It's OK

stevenaia Michinaga is working on yesterday's log post to the wiki... what did I miss?

Pila Mulligan: coincidental deaths and age goals

Adams Rubble not being all that serious. hehe

stevenaia Michinaga: interesting day to pick in advance

AdamsRubble: Well I must go. Nice to see everyone. Have a very good night :)

    Pila Mulligan: bye Adams

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Sleep well, Adams</place>..

Corvuscorva Nightfire: that is one nice dress.

    stevenaia Michinaga: bye adams

AdamsRubble: Thanks. You too Corvi :) i.e sleep well.

    AdamsRubble: :)

Pila Mulligan: what activities do you expect to be part of the PaB retreat?

stevenaia Michinaga: me? watching the results of the participants

    stevenaia Michinaga: :)

Corvuscorva Nightfire: the results of the participants?

stevenaia Michinaga: after the retreat as I am not going to be there

Pila Mulligan: you mentioned the idea of intensity of focus for a week, I agree it could be intense, but I wonder how it will be organized

stevenaia Michinaga: there was a preliminary itinerary sent around

stevenaia Michinaga: I was referring to that

Pila Mulligan: I didn’t see it

Pila Mulligan: does it have meditation sessions?

stevenaia Michinaga: mostly, let me see if I can track it down...one moment

    Pila Mulligan: ok, thanks

stevenaia Michinaga: but I just found this, Kira event transcripts

    stevenaia Michinaga: http://www.kira.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=84&Itemid=114.

stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps today’s session there will be posted here

    Pila Mulligan: :)

Pila Mulligan: unless it was voice :)

    stevenaia Michinaga: true

stevenaia Michinaga: here is what Pema's thoughts were

Pila Mulligan: arcane question: have any of you ever tried running a usb printer from a parallel port, with an adapter? (not the more common vice versa)

    stevenaia Michinaga:

"An example sketch for a daily schedule could be:
Up at 5 am, from 5:30 to 7:00 practice APAPB, sitting, with a short break if need be.
Then breakfast. From 8 to 9 walking outside, doing APAPB.
    From 9 to 10:30 sitting APAPB. Coffee/tea break. 11 to 12:
Stim and/or I and/or someone else gives a brief talk, followed by open discussion.
12: Lunch. 1: break. 2 to 3: walking APAPB, followed by tea.
3:30 to 5: sitting APAPB. break. 6: dinner.
7-8: sitting APAPB. 8-9: talk. 9:30: lights out."

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: I haven't Pila..

    Adelene Dawner either.

Pila Mulligan: sit walk talk ... nice

Corvuscorva Nightfire: and I have to admit, that I found that schedule a bit scary.

Pila Mulligan: thanks Corvi and Ade

Pila Mulligan: for a week, yes it could be intense :)

Corvuscorva Nightfire nods...for some of us.

Pila Mulligan: shoots, that would be intense for any one :)

Corvuscorva Nightfire sighs relief...I thought it was just me, the newbie who would be scared.

stevenaia Michinaga: are you going, Pila?

Pila Mulligan: nope, Pila is a home body

stevenaia Michinaga: thought you were considering hosting it on the island for a brief moment

Corvuscorva Nightfire: that would let him BE a home body

Corvuscorva Nightfire: and go at the same time!

Pila Mulligan: well, I said it half-joking to Pema a while ago, and he took it seriously and opposed it as an option

Pila Mulligan: yes, Corvi, exactly my thoughts

    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.

Pila Mulligan: but the travel is a burden -- 2000 miles of ocean to cover

Pila Mulligan: it may have been easier for Tarmel, though, actually

    Pila Mulligan: from Australia

Corvuscorva Nightfire nods..to get to  Hawaii

Pila Mulligan: but not for you East Coasters, for sure

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: nope

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: or europeans.

    Pila Mulligan: yep

    Pila Mulligan: especially

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: mmhmm

Pila Mulligan: half a world from Europe

Corvuscorva Nightfire: the problem is..everywhere is far from some of us.

    Pila Mulligan: true

    Pila Mulligan: except SL :)

    stevenaia Michinaga: :)

Corvuscorva Nightfire nods...so many people I've grown fond of so far away.

Corvuscorva Nightfire: it makes me think...no matter where I go, someone I love will be there.

    Pila Mulligan: :)

    Adelene Dawner: :)

Corvuscorva Nightfire: It's time for me to go to bed...

    stevenaia Michinaga: night corvi

    Pila Mulligan: sweet dreams Corvi

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Night ya'll.

Corvuscorva Nightfire: sleep well when you sleep.

    Pila Mulligan: thanks

Adelene Dawner: I should go code, or sleep. Probably sleep. I have an appointment tomorrow. :P

Pila Mulligan: don't you code in your sleep?

Adelene Dawner: well, yes, but it's hard to type from the bed.

    Pila Mulligan: :)

    Pila Mulligan: true

    Adelene Dawner: 'night, guys.

    Pila Mulligan: bye Ade

    stevenaia Michinaga: night ade

Pila and stevenaia continue their discussion about his recent be interest in Tai Chi

Pila Mulligan: how often do you do the tai chi classes steve?

stevenaia Michinaga: I'm only on my 3rd class

Pila Mulligan: how is it going?

stevenaia Michinaga: just stopped yoga after 3 years for a change

stevenaia Michinaga: I like it, although the martial stuff still is at odds with me, like you said, you only used that aspect once in 30 years

Pila Mulligan: it is emphasized more by some teachers than others

Pila Mulligan: it is given more emphasis in Yang style, it seems

stevenaia Michinaga: just as a follow up to the purpose of the moves after she teaches them

Pila Mulligan: how much experience does your teacher have?

stevenaia Michinaga: I have to look but I was told she is the best in the area

    Pila Mulligan: cool

Pila Mulligan: there is a nice similarity between good tai chi and good hula

stevenaia Michinaga: seeing of there is a resume on the site....

    Pila Mulligan: ok

Pila Mulligan: what is the site?

    stevenaia Michinaga: looking

    stevenaia Michinaga: http://www.theyogaloftofbethlehem.com/our_teachers

stevenaia Michinaga: Hilary near the bottom

stevenaia Michinaga: she does alot in nursing homes and confounds the doctor with the new abilities of her students there

    Pila Mulligan: :)

Pila Mulligan: twenty years, that's plenty of experience

Pila Mulligan: and I've also seen the nursing home benefits -- it can really help

stevenaia Michinaga: you said you have been doing it for 30?

Pila Mulligan: even for those in wheel chairs

stevenaia Michinaga: it warps my mind to be able to put so many moves together at the same time everything going in a different direction  ......

    Pila Mulligan: crashed :)

stevenaia Michinaga: did you get my last comment?

    Pila Mulligan: nope

    stevenaia Michinaga: after wheelchairs

    Pila Mulligan: did not :)

stevenaia Michinaga: it warps my mind to be able to put so many moves together at the same time everything going in a different direction

    Pila Mulligan: :)

    Pila Mulligan: I understand

Pila Mulligan: and all so elegant

    stevenaia Michinaga: yes

Pila Mulligan: well, I am happy to hear you seem satisfied with the tai chi class

stevenaia Michinaga: I'm open to anything low impact that keeps me moving

Pila Mulligan: yep, it is a helpful exercise

    Pila Mulligan: soft but stimulating

Pila Mulligan: a good hula dancer also moves within an envelope of breath energy

Pila Mulligan: and they have similar movements to tai chi, as well

Pila Mulligan: hand and feet movements that is

Pila Mulligan: some people say the hula dance came down form an old Hawaiian martial art named lua

Pila Mulligan: but it is likely they had separate origins, in my opinion

stevenaia Michinaga: woman beating men with moving hips, what a concept

    Pila Mulligan: :)

    Pila Mulligan: ancient daze

Pila Mulligan: well, I suppose tonight I will cook my own curry

stevenaia Michinaga: is that a metaphor?

Pila Mulligan: maybe, but an actuality was intended :)

    stevenaia Michinaga: :)

Pila Mulligan: it's nice to have a kitchen at last

    Pila Mulligan: again

stevenaia Michinaga: true, I love designing kitchens, since my wife is a good cook

Pila Mulligan: I realize how lucky I was to have stumbled through the design part with few real blunders

Pila Mulligan: the draftsman I used was no help, and I never even saw the plan stamping architect :)

stevenaia Michinaga: yes, it’s is a process

Pila Mulligan: so it was a one sided process, with luck

stevenaia Michinaga: yikes, why no contact

Pila Mulligan: a bad idea on my part, to save money

Pila Mulligan: owner builder all the way

    stevenaia Michinaga: nods

Pila Mulligan: luckily I have some good friends with building skills

Pila Mulligan: they helped fix some of the near blunders

stevenaia Michinaga: always difficult to see at the beginning how much design services will save you

    stevenaia Michinaga: but I'm biased

Pila Mulligan: yes, i agree (now)

Pila Mulligan: would that I had the experience to see it then

    stevenaia Michinaga: :)

Pila Mulligan: but at least there is a functioning kitchen :)

stevenaia Michinaga: sounds like fun, sure beats sterno

    Pila Mulligan: yep

Pila Mulligan: and the shipping container was kind of cramped even for that

stevenaia Michinaga: lol , did you remove it of keep it around as part of the house

Pila Mulligan: it is permitted as a storage unit

Pila Mulligan: but I may actually use it as a guest room

stevenaia Michinaga: well with trade lagging, there are plenty of them around for the taking

Pila Mulligan: this one is in pretty good shape, and we put a roof over it

stevenaia Michinaga: well I'm off to bed, see you soon

Pila Mulligan: ok, nice visiting with you Steve

stevenaia Michinaga: shall I keep this in the log?

Pila Mulligan: as you wish :)

    stevenaia Michinaga: kk

Pila Mulligan: oh, maybe drop it

    Pila Mulligan: too personal

stevenaia Michinaga: no, love the part about the kitchen

    Pila Mulligan: OK :)

    stevenaia Michinaga: hehe

    Pila Mulligan: aloha

    stevenaia Michinaga: bye
