    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Arch
    stevenaia Michinaga: waves
    Archmage Atlantis: Halo, Stevenaia
Archmage Atlantis: Flying in requires new skills
stevenaia Michinaga: my cat is here
stevenaia Michinaga: affecting my typing tonight
Archmage Atlantis: He or she, and the name?
    stevenaia Michinaga: Fubu
    stevenaia Michinaga: ex male
    Archmage Atlantis: Chuckle......heya Fubu
stevenaia Michinaga: why the flying problems?
Archmage Atlantis: Nim didn't get up off his heating pad when I got up
Archmage Atlantis: So my typing is ok for the moment
Archmage Atlantis: Oh the flying......megalomania, I suppose
    stevenaia Michinaga: scratched head
stevenaia Michinaga: how does megalomania affect flying in SL
Archmage Atlantis: Without a bit of megalomania, I wouldn't attempt flying at all......and certainly not with phoenix wings
    stevenaia Michinaga: smiles, ofcourse
Archmage Atlantis: tks, helps you understand
    stevenaia Michinaga: helps me too
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Dash
    Dash Earthboy: greetings everybody
stevenaia Michinaga: how are you Dash
Dash Earthboy: small group tonight huh?
    stevenaia Michinaga: small and calm
    stevenaia Michinaga: I think
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Sophia
Dash Earthboy: here comes someone else
SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Stevenaia, Archmage and Dash :)
    Dash Earthboy: hi sophia
stevenaia Michinaga: we are sitting here quietly, waiting... for.... you?
SophiaSharon Larnia: steve! cute carriage :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: thought it was an egg, I found it here
SophiaSharon Larnia: if that what it is, you're small, thats what it looks like
    Dash Earthboy: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh it is an egg i guess, messy guardians ^^
    stevenaia Michinaga: an open egg
SophiaSharon Larnia: alfreds timy shell lol
    stevenaia Michinaga: I'll brb.....
    SophiaSharon Larnia: tiny*
Dash Earthboy: trying to make an omelet?

    --BELL--

SophiaSharon Larnia: my computer bell rang before the sl bell, I thought it was the sl bell :)
Dash Earthboy: wonder why I didn't hear the bell?
SophiaSharon Larnia: i dont know but i heard another sl bell echo
SophiaSharon Larnia: maybe i heard yours too ;p
    Dash Earthboy: :)
Dash Earthboy: i continue to preach that "life is not a zero sum game"
SophiaSharon Larnia: im like a pavlovian dog with the sound, if i hear it in the environment, it reminds me of it
SophiaSharon Larnia: i agree Dash :)
Archmage Atlantis: I never hear the bell....I only read the words....to me, it is a metaphorical bell
Dash Earthboy: i'm hearing the wind but not the fountain too
Dash Earthboy: i usually do hear the bell
    SophiaSharon Larnia: a metaphor?
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, a metaphor for an agreeement
Archmage Atlantis: In this case, and agreement to not speak for a few moment
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Dash Earthboy: metaphors do make for fuzzy logic
Archmage Atlantis: To allow silence, or the non-silence, around us to own our senses
SophiaSharon Larnia: i havent thought of it that way, like allowing it to sense through us?
Archmage Atlantis: SS, that is an excellent thought, not exactly what I was expressing, yet of equal value
    Dash Earthboy: equal value?
    Archmage Atlantis: yes
SophiaSharon Larnia: that is what I read in your statement, can you say more?
    Dash Earthboy: i don't understand
Archmage Atlantis: words are tricky.....but I will attempt it
    SophiaSharon Larnia: they are
Dash Earthboy: i think rephrasing as a respnse is good active listening
Archmage Atlantis: As to equal value.........I have twin boys, they are both loved, they are quite similar, but they are not the same....they are of equal value
SophiaSharon Larnia: I didnt know that Archmage, nice :)
Archmage Atlantis: (example only, I am childless)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ok :))

    --BELL--

    Dash Earthboy: metaphors
SophiaSharon Larnia: i try not to use metaphors, they can mean different things to people, just got to like stright talk
Dash Earthboy: it's starting to lighten up around here
SophiaSharon Larnia: :) Dash, i can only tell how long ive been here sometimes by the sl changing lol
    SophiaSharon Larnia: sl light*
Dash Earthboy: but you got the kids as metaphors, right Soph?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
Archmage Atlantis: I like straight talk also.......sometimes straight talk is best expressed by example, and examples and metaphors are related
    stevenaia Michinaga: back
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wb steve :)
    Dash Earthboy: wb stev
    stevenaia Michinaga: I had a pen/laundry collision :(
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh noos
    Dash Earthboy: dang
SophiaSharon Larnia: hope it wasn't the 'good ' load lol
stevenaia Michinaga: not sure if I should orn for the pen or the pants
    stevenaia Michinaga: *morn
SophiaSharon Larnia: ha, yes i know what you mean
Archmage Atlantis: Typical academic.....leaving the pen in the garmet
stevenaia Michinaga: trying to see what happens through the washer again
Dash Earthboy: well, now you've got some good paint pants
SophiaSharon Larnia: i wash them all the time and dont realize it until they bang in the dryer
Dash Earthboy: can the pen be refilled?
stevenaia Michinaga: yup, nice and dry
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, nice sepia ink, too :( spotted everyehere
stevenaia Michinaga: if I can figure out how to put it back together
Archmage Atlantis: From what I know about ink, washable ink comes out or all cloth
SophiaSharon Larnia: ball point clickies dont leave marks, usually
Dash Earthboy: that looks real good on white pants huh?
Archmage Atlantis: But non-washable is there forever
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: will let you know shortly
stevenaia Michinaga: so what were you talking about befre I returned
    Dash Earthboy: arch's kids
    Dash Earthboy: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: Arch (archmage.atlantis): To allow silence, or the non-silence, around us to own our senses
SophiaSharon Larnia: thought of equal value, using metaphors
    SophiaSharon Larnia: etc hehe
stevenaia Michinaga: metaphors are nice when you can't explain something
Dash Earthboy: i posted elsewhere about being ashes by now earlier today
Dash Earthboy: i attributed it to "The Palms"
SophiaSharon Larnia: (nce shell boxy hehe)
    stevenaia Michinaga: tight fit
Archmage Atlantis: I need to go.....Blessings and Namaste
Dash Earthboy: somebody responded that I was insulting them
SophiaSharon Larnia: yea im kinda squished
    stevenaia Michinaga: night arch
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Arch :)
    Dash Earthboy: bye Arch
stevenaia Michinaga: I think it kinda folds you up
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :D
SophiaSharon Larnia: i think its for tinies
Dash Earthboy: seems like i'm always encouraging people to come out of their shells!
    stevenaia Michinaga: boxy and Eos?
Dash Earthboy: best way to grow :)
stevenaia Michinaga: on purpose or jsut because you are that way, dash?
    Dash Earthboy: that's my way
SophiaSharon Larnia: is coming out of a shell a metaphor for leaving a comfort zone?
Dash Earthboy: is it comfortable there Soph?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: im cozy :)
stevenaia Michinaga: maybe he means literally, as IN getting sophia out of boxy's shell
    Dash Earthboy: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: see, he got you out of your shell
    SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
Dash Earthboy: of course, i do live dangerously myself
    stevenaia Michinaga: listens?
Dash Earthboy: as a social worker i rode a motorcycle to my home visits in the housing projects
SophiaSharon Larnia: you did home visis?
SophiaSharon Larnia: thats what i do now, rn
Dash Earthboy: took the same cycle from Atlanta to Niagra Falls
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wow
stevenaia Michinaga: you drove right by us
Dash Earthboy: had to lay it down in NYC when the front fork locked
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ohh
Dash Earthboy: lost my beer can :(
SophiaSharon Larnia: is a long trip like that comfortable?
Dash Earthboy: had it decked out with cruise control, CB, quartz driving lights
Dash Earthboy: it was just a little KZ400
Dash Earthboy: and that was 1978
SophiaSharon Larnia: always wanted to do that
    SophiaSharon Larnia: just once :)
Dash Earthboy: yes, I was glad I didn't have my rider on when I had to lay it down
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
Dash Earthboy: she's a shrink in NYC and I picked her up on the way
Dash Earthboy: went through DC and all kinds of nice things on the trip
SophiaSharon Larnia: the term always made me wonder, if youre prumeably mentally ill (by societies standards) is your head really big, and what are you shrinking
    SophiaSharon Larnia: but i digress
SophiaSharon Larnia: sounds like a great trip
    stevenaia Michinaga: grins
Dash Earthboy: it had its ups and downs :))
    SophiaSharon Larnia: i bet!
Dash Earthboy: i didn't carry a camera with me tho :(
    SophiaSharon Larnia: aww
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Dash Earthboy: we used hers at the falls and got some great shots of that segment
SophiaSharon Larnia: no lack of photo ops at the fals
Dash Earthboy: oh and the mountain scenery along the way
SophiaSharon Larnia: i thought it be fun to go to maine that way
stevenaia Michinaga: brb, better check for spots again
Dash Earthboy: i'll bet it would ;)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ok Steve :)
Dash Earthboy: i hear Vermont is wonderful for scenery on the way to Maine
SophiaSharon Larnia: youre a social worker?
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes!! i was born on the border
Dash Earthboy: i'm a minister now
SophiaSharon Larnia: always wanted to see it
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ah nice
Dash Earthboy: i do all kinds of stuff tho to support the ministry
SophiaSharon Larnia: theres a lot that can be done, when i do voluteer work, a couple times a year, its through a ministry
Dash Earthboy: it's an advocacy, training, & counseling ministry
    Dash Earthboy: that's wonderful Soph!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: interesting
SophiaSharon Larnia: have the programs set up, just have to show up :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: how did you find social work?
SophiaSharon Larnia: i mean, as work
Dash Earthboy: prior to that i had been a wholesaler's accounting manager
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Dash Earthboy: and before that, a credit clerk
Dash Earthboy: while simultaneously a pro musician
    SophiaSharon Larnia: what instrument/genre?
SophiaSharon Larnia: there's a music seesion now at play as being lol
    stevenaia Michinaga: back
SophiaSharon Larnia: wb again spotty Steve
stevenaia Michinaga: the pillow cases are the worst
SophiaSharon Larnia: well, only a few people seee those

    --BELL--

    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Dash Earthboy: well, in the studios they liked me to sing harmony and play bass/mandolin/trumpet/drums/piano/organ/clarinet/banjos/harjonica/sax/
stevenaia Michinaga: hehe, like my spouse
Dash Earthboy: all kinds of things
Dash Earthboy: sorry about the lag in my responses :(
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh wow, my favorites!
SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs, np, very laggy here too
Dash Earthboy: oops and 6 & 12-string guitars too
SophiaSharon Larnia: seriously, dulcimer is one of my favorites, dont here it much live except at folk festivals and house concerts
Dash Earthboy: i have worked with a 12-string much since I was 17
SophiaSharon Larnia: you must be very talented :)
Dash Earthboy: I got a mountain duclimer from Virginia when I was 17
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wow
Dash Earthboy: sold it to a coworker when I was a social worker as she liked when I taught her to play some songs on it
Dash Earthboy: i like to teach
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :))
    Alfred Kelberry: meep!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: meep boxy!!
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Dash Earthboy: hel alf!
    stevenaia Michinaga: wave to boxy
SophiaSharon Larnia: nice shell chair, was sitting in it :)
    Dash Earthboy: hey alf!
    Alfred Kelberry: *giggles*
SophiaSharon Larnia: good thing i left itfor you!
stevenaia Michinaga: I knew you would fit in it perfectly
    Alfred Kelberry: thank you :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe
SophiaSharon Larnia: yea i was kinda squished
    Dash Earthboy: squished like ambition?
    Alfred Kelberry: what's the topic?
SophiaSharon Larnia: hard to squish something you dont have
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Dash Earthboy: i think the topic is random alf
SophiaSharon Larnia: well boxy i think we moved on to instruments, dash was talking about the instruments he can play :)
Alfred Kelberry: oh, please tell more, dash
Dash Earthboy: oh, i've given some links here before that demo my skills
SophiaSharon Larnia: i see :) ill look at them sometime :)
stevenaia Michinaga: you are on youtube?
Dash Earthboy: i started on trumpet and that was the only thing I got lessons on in the 6th grade
    Alfred Kelberry: nice
Dash Earthboy: then we moved to a place in North Carolina with no school band
    Alfred Kelberry: played jazz?
Dash Earthboy: so after doing bugle calls on my trumpet at the games (and throwing in a little Herb Alpert at halftime)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Dash Earthboy: i'd go to the after game parties and found none of the bands had a bass
Dash Earthboy: so i got one from sears as an early christmas present and was playing with several bands in the county two weeks later
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: giggles
    stevenaia Michinaga: hehe
Dash Earthboy: after that i taught myself mandolin, then organ, then accordian, then guitar...
    Alfred Kelberry: wow, impressive
stevenaia Michinaga: wow, a man with a mission
SophiaSharon Larnia: amazing to me, that you can do that
Dash Earthboy: yes, i do believe i have a mission
Alfred Kelberry: please play something for us, dash :)
Dash Earthboy: let me find a link
Alfred Kelberry: how about here in voice? :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: aww my voice is broken atm i think
    SophiaSharon Larnia: mic is anyway
Alfred Kelberry: you still could hear dash playing :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh :))
Alfred Kelberry: if he would :)
Alfred Kelberry: we had such a lovely music session yesterday
SophiaSharon Larnia: i wish I could make them! I thought of you!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: between the bells
Alfred Kelberry: live performance, dancing, poetry reading in french and english. it was very arsty :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wow

    --BELL--

    Dash Earthboy: http://www.box.net/shared/9u2u5v3kvm
    SophiaSharon Larnia: thank you!
Dash Earthboy: the song started as a thought the singer wanted me to help her put into some kind of poetry...ended up to be quite a song by the time I got done with it
Dash Earthboy: which instruments to you hear?
stevenaia Michinaga: you the neil young voice?
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Dash Earthboy: i'm not only playing them but acting as producer/engineer in the living room of a farm house
SophiaSharon Larnia: flute, organ, umm, piano
Alfred Kelberry: piano, flute, some percussion, harp?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: more there, yes
    Dash Earthboy: 12-string
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
    Dash Earthboy: yes
    Alfred Kelberry: neat :)
Alfred Kelberry: it'd be great if you could join us at the music session, dash
Dash Earthboy: and what few realize is i was doing all that with a bandaged left hand nursing a gunshot wound through a knuckle
    stevenaia Michinaga: eeek
    SophiaSharon Larnia: geez Dash
    Alfred Kelberry: ouch
Alfred Kelberry: a song with a lot of history :)
stevenaia Michinaga: I msut go, feel free to stick around
    SophiaSharon Larnia: night Steve!
    stevenaia Michinaga: night all
    Alfred Kelberry: stev :)
Dash Earthboy: took out a tendon and nerve at my middle of left middle finger knuckele
    Dash Earthboy: g'nite stev
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh, still play tho?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: apparently, sorry :D
Dash Earthboy: part of the tendon recovered and so i play a little better now than then... but not like i could before
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ohh
Dash Earthboy: i don't have any good way to stream live on SL
Alfred Kelberry: mike is just fine :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: i looked into it once, i think its expensive?
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh yes, on mike
Alfred Kelberry: it's how we do it on the session
Dash Earthboy: my connection is lowest DSL available
Alfred Kelberry: this low-fi solution even adds into creative indie feeling :)
Dash Earthboy: my mic is a $10 one from 2005
SophiaSharon Larnia: i could play the drums and spoons but thats the extent of my contributions
Alfred Kelberry: dash, give it a try :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
Alfred Kelberry: there's always an excuse to not do something :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: lol work is my excuse!
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: lame
Dash Earthboy: btw, on the recording I had to teach the woman how to sing harmony when there was no lead to accompany
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ohh
    Alfred Kelberry: what's sing harmony?
Dash Earthboy: it's hard to engineer a song on cheap home stereo equipment
Dash Earthboy: one must build from the lowest volume to the lead singing
Dash Earthboy: one layer at a time
SophiaSharon Larnia: thinks of audacity and that it must much more complicated than that
Dash Earthboy: that's how i did the song of mine that came out on a few TN radio stations
    SophiaSharon Larnia: cool
Dash Earthboy: oh, i wish i'd had audacity back then
Dash Earthboy: that was a cassette recorder
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes its pretty easy to use, if i can figure out simplie stuff
Dash Earthboy: i like audacity more than the Yamaha (Migenix) studio I bought
Dash Earthboy: just atarted using audacity last year
Alfred Kelberry: entry level to sl performance is much lower than a radio station - just have a mike and an instrument :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: Boxy really wants you to play ^^
    Alfred Kelberry: :P
Dash Earthboy: alf, what are the upstream specs requirements?
    Alfred Kelberry: not sure
Dash Earthboy: i'm lucky to get 100 kps up
Dash Earthboy: and usually about 650 down
Alfred Kelberry: we can try and find out :)
Dash Earthboy: my graphics are always "not meet requirments" on SL anyhow

    --BELL--

    SophiaSharon Larnia: mine too, still
Dash Earthboy: virtual worlds are CPU-hog gaming enviroments
    Alfred Kelberry: gpu :)
Dash Earthboy: yes, gpu too :)
    Alfred Kelberry: mostly gpu
Dash Earthboy: but my CPU meter is hanging at about 95% all this time tonight
Alfred Kelberry: i've upgraded recently and never had a problem with lag since then
Alfred Kelberry: dash, on sl process?
Dash Earthboy: and my grphics is built-in on motherboard
Dash Earthboy: shared graphics mem too
SophiaSharon Larnia: i have to go too, finish some work stuff, thank you Dash and bye Boxy ^^
    Alfred Kelberry: shopia :)
Dash Earthboy: pleasure as always Soph
SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe see ya soon :))
Dash Earthboy: I'm heading out too
    SophiaSharon Larnia: have fun'
    Dash Earthboy: g'nite all
    Alfred Kelberry: cu all
    SophiaSharon Larnia: goodnight
