The Guardian for this meeting was SophiaSharon Larnia. The comments are by SophiaSharon Larnia. A cute addition to the pavilion tonight was an object called an egobox, which when touched, compliments the person who touched it. The text from the egobox was not copied by the recorder, so this session will seem strange without all of the accompanying text! We were clicking on it, being complimented! Since I couldn't remember what it said, I had to leave it out... 

In this session we spoke about a principle that is very new to me, Drala, spoke more about below.

Aphrodite Macbain: a Tibetan word which means “beyond aggression.” Drala is the potential to communicate deeply (or one could say "sacredly") with life and can occur simply in the way we crack an egg, open a car door or think about a dream. Drala is also about courage; those who speak and walk their truth attract the dralas.

When we open to trees, flowers, a creek or clouds we encounter an actual wisdom, though one that is not separate from our own. Beholding a river is much more than merely looking at a river; potentially, we are meeting the dralas. A friend of mine was once with her family in upstate New York. It was winter and they had hiked into a forest. The landscape was one of cold and snow, whiteness and silence, birch trees. Astonished by the pristine beauty, my friend realized it was her duty - not just to notice this beauty - but to stop and linger with it. To let it penetrate her. To listen. We have failed to see our first responsibility to the world is an aesthetic one.

oO0Oo Resident: I received an email reply today from a very kind Japanese friend. He said his family was affected by the earthquake, "but not too terribly", cracks in the walls of their house. He has evacuated his wife and 8 month old son to his wife's parent's house. He remains to help rebuild his workplace, which was badly damaged, and only 75 miles from the nuclear power plant. Says he may be in a kind of shock, but of course asks after my well being in many ways, and diminishes his own situation He ended by saying "It helps to know about lives that have not been affected by the earthquake."
