Bleu Oleander: this is always hard for me .... the switch
Bleu Oleander: typing seems sooooo slow
Bleu Oleander: heard an interesting interview on embodied cognition
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, i think i mentioned quiet often that voice is much more associative for me
Yakuzza Lethecus: and i usually ,,think" that i am thinking in voice
Yakuzza Lethecus: even tho i am pretty sure that that isn´t even the case and might be an illusion
    Korel Laloix: Both are good.
Korel Laloix: With text though I can follow when I am away from the keyboard a lot.
    Bleu Oleander: http://www.brainsciencepodcast.com/
Yakuzza Lethecus: and it´s all logged so always accessable for future retrospection
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey arch
Korel Laloix: I just finished this increadible dessert.
Bleu Oleander: what was it Korel?
Yakuzza Lethecus: tell us about it :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Arch
Korel Laloix: Shoclate brownine, with a grahm craker crust, covered in marshmellow and then blackened with chocolate icecream.
    Korel Laloix: Lovely.
    Bleu Oleander: yummy
Korel Laloix: Not that I can spel it today.
    Archmage Atlantis: Hi, Blru....Hi, korel
Korel Laloix: And my boss left for the day so so can I.
Korel Laloix: Going to go to my brother's house and sit in the hottub.
    Korel Laloix: Take care all.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: take care korel
    Archmage Atlantis: Sit, be calm
    Yakuzza Lethecus: enjoy!
    Bleu Oleander: bye
    Korel Laloix smiles
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey wol
    Bleu Oleander: hi Wol :)
Archmage Atlantis: Youse guys here from the voice time?
    Archmage Atlantis: Hi Woly
Wol Euler: hello arch, yaku, bleu, bruce
    Bleu Oleander: hi Bruce
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey bruce
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, arch, Yaku, Woly, Bleu!
Wol Euler grins at the universalization of "woly"
Archmage Atlantis: ominee, bobbitee, bibbly, boop
Bleu Oleander wonders why no one ever says "Bleuy"
Bruce Mowbray: Cast all blame on Boxy for that.
Wol Euler: if he started, bleu, htey would :)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Wol Euler: it's all his doing
Bruce Mowbray: bte -- Boxy held his prim building sessionthis morning -- and WOW! I learned a really coooool neat new thing.
    Wol Euler: ?
Bleu Oleander: some names fit better though
    Bruce Mowbray: wanna see it?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: of course!
    Bleu Oleander: yes, great gadgit
Bruce Mowbray: You continue to talk and I will build it. . .
Bruce Mowbray: Ohh!1 Bluey was there too!
Archmage Atlantis: Cause you haven't given us permission Bueu. and Blooey isn't who we have met
Bruce Mowbray: sry Bluey - I forgot.
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Would you like to build it -- or shall I?
Wol Euler: on a point of information, I don't recall having given anyone permission :)
Archmage Atlantis: I have to think every time to reverse the e and the u
Bruce Mowbray: sry BLUUUUUUUe (no YYYY).
Bleu Oleander: say it enought times ......
Bruce Mowbray: anyway, do you want to build it - or shall I?
Wol Euler: and it becomes true.
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Bleu Oleander: go ahead
Bruce Mowbray: I promise to write "Bleu" on my blackboard one hundred times.
    Bleu Oleander: hehe
Bruce Mowbray: OK. I will build it beside you, Bleu.
    Bleu Oleander: k
Bruce Mowbray: (then everyone will think you did it).
Archmage Atlantis: I may try out "oleandar
Bleu Oleander: then make it good
    Archmage Atlantis: Or Ollie

    --BELL--

    Bruce Mowbray: OK -- Here's my website -- hermitdog.com
Bruce Mowbray: and this is a picture of my dog Bear -- whom Arch is already quite well acquainted with.
    Bruce Mowbray: right Archie?
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, wanderto.
Bleu Oleander: Bear looks like a Bernese Mountain Dog
Wol Euler: you and Bleu might be the only ones to see it, Bruce :)
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
Bruce Mowbray: err... Susan, I meant.
    Wol Euler: hello suan
    Wol Euler: *susan
    iwandertoo Resident: waves to all
    Bleu Oleander: hi Susan
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hello susan
Bruce Mowbray: My little building project seems to have everyone speechless.
Wol Euler: never seen such lifelike plywood :)
Bleu Oleander: so no one can see it?
Bruce Mowbray: You cannot see the web page???
    Wol Euler: not I
    Bleu Oleander: i can
Archmage Atlantis: To make an omelet, one has to break some eggs........
Bruce Mowbray: touch it and see if that works.
    Archmage Atlantis: and yes
Bleu Oleander: and it's interactive for me
Archmage Atlantis: Nimbus and Bear know each other
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, Bleu -- it's interactive for me too.
Bruce Mowbray: but apparently no one else and see it. . . darn!
Wol Euler: the two who can both use viewer 2 :)
    Bruce Mowbray: why is this?
Bruce Mowbray: Ohhhh --- so it is only viewable in V2?
    Bleu Oleander: yes it's a v2 thing I think
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh heck.
Bruce Mowbray: Boxy should have told us that...
    Bruce Mowbray: OK.
Yakuzza Lethecus: ok, i will relog with v2
    Bleu Oleander: he wasn't sure
Bruce Mowbray: so much for my project, then.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: media on prim
Bleu Oleander: he thought maybe some 3rd party viewers would see it
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, media on prim --
Wol Euler: that is coming soon in third party viewers, but none yet
    Wol Euler: afaik
Bruce Mowbray: And you can also put videos on it.
Bleu Oleander: the interactive part is cool
Archmage Atlantis: Boxy should tell us what he knows.....and that should is not ver nice to say
Archmage Atlantis: Boxy gets to share what he wishes to share
Bruce Mowbray: Boxy is great --- He know a WHOLE LOT about building -- and I know almost nothing.
Archmage Atlantis: We are all independent
Bruce Mowbray: Any luck yet, Yaku?
Archmage Atlantis: That is why I like it here
    Yakuzza Lethecus: didn´t relog
    Yakuzza Lethecus: http://www.nyteknik.se/nyheter/energ...cle3111124.ece
    Bruce Mowbray: ok. np.
Wol Euler: I did find something nice though: phoenix has an option to always turn off rendering clouds
Bruce Mowbray: The half-life of this prim is (.... counts on fingers....) ten more minutes... then poof.
Bleu Oleander: just noticed I went over the 20K in my inventory ... wow, no wonder I can't find anything :)
    Wol Euler: congratulations :)
Bleu Oleander: only took two years
Yakuzza Lethecus: <- only got 5k items
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: just like RL, guys have less stuff :)
Archmage Atlantis: there's a tv show for that ......Hoarders
Bruce Mowbray: So, how are you today Susan?
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Bleu Oleander: should "drop" some
    iwandertoo Resident: well, thanks you?
    Wol Euler: :)
Bruce Mowbray: I be great -- the weekend, you know.
Archmage Atlantis: why we visit here

    --BELL--

    Bleu Oleander: brb
Archmage Atlantis: Fed, pooped, got on lap...now off to bed (on the heating pad).......just a cat, but so like a human
Bruce Mowbray ponders feline humans he has known.
Wol Euler: cats are what we would be if we had the courage of our desires
Archmage Atlantis: A storm blows in
Wol Euler: if cats could speak, they'd need only a few words "mine", "now"
Wol Euler: (to be clear, I like cats and admire their independence and healthy egos)
Archmage Atlantis: My cats have also said "share"
Archmage Atlantis: If they want it to help themselves
    Wol Euler smiles.
Archmage Atlantis: Dang, evolutionary psychology 101
    Wol Euler grins.
Bleu Oleander: my dogs do fine with "mine" and "now"
    Archmage Atlantis: Ty Bleu
    Archmage Atlantis: That is insight
Bleu Oleander: anyone interested in embodied cognition?
    Wol Euler: sure
    Bleu Oleander: http://www.brainsciencepodcast.com/
    Archmage Atlantis: k
    Bleu Oleander: great interview
Wol Euler: that sounds pretty cool, thank you blue
    Wol Euler: *bleu
    Bleu Oleander: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...cience_Podcast
    Bleu Oleander: found this also
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks, Bleu -- Wil definitely check that out later.
    Bleu Oleander: cool book group
    Archmage Atlantis: Bluester
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Is that group here in SL, Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: similar to Alva Noe's ideas
Bleu Oleander: no online only I think Bruce
Bleu Oleander: The Brain Science Podcast has some pretty good interviews
Wol Euler: only costs L$100 to start agroup :)
    Archmage Atlantis: Argh
Archmage Atlantis: For me, a $100 is ten millin
Bruce Mowbray: I've spent THAT much uploading tartan textures for my chapeau -- THIS hour alone.
    Wol Euler: heheh
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
Archmage Atlantis: Ty Wol,.......may I contribute that to PaB?
    Archmage Atlantis: E tu Brucee
Bruce Mowbray: My pleasure -- the first paramita, you know.
Wol Euler: or start a group :)
Wol Euler: brb, just remembered I forgot to take my antibiotic . and must eat with it
Bruce Mowbray: Be well, Wol! (aka Woly).

    --BELL--

Archmage Atlantis: ThreeDee wrote the text
Archmage Atlantis: And designed the building
Archmage Atlantis: Moon designed the gardens
Archmage Atlantis: Star gave it heart
Bruce Mowbray: Do you have an LM for it, Arch?
    Wol Euler: back, reading
Archmage Atlantis: It no longer exists
    Bruce Mowbray: Awwwww. Darn it.
    Archmage Atlantis: oops, wrong window
    Bruce Mowbray ponders impermanence.
Bleu Oleander: hate it when that happens :)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Bruce Mowbray: Maybe Boxy could build it back again.
    Wol Euler: ty arch
Archmage Atlantis: Life is about finding a way around the end time
    Archmage Atlantis: imho
    Bleu Oleander: end time?
Archmage Atlantis: Alpha and Omega.....beginning and end........
Bruce Mowbray thinks he'll find the middle way.
Wol Euler: do you mean geological time, or religious, or the human lifespan?
Archmage Atlantis: All of those, Wolly
    Wol Euler: okay )
Bleu Oleander: no need to worry about any of those IMHO
    Miracle Masala: hello everyone :-)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Miracle
Wol Euler: hello miracle, nice to see you again
    Archmage Atlantis: Hello, Miracle
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hello miracle
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Miracle.
Yakuzza Lethecus: have you been here before ?
    Miracle Masala: :-)
Archmage Atlantis: Nice choice of name
Miracle Masala: yes, I came once
    Miracle Masala: thank you
    Bleu Oleander: hi Zen
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Zen.
    Wol Euler: hello zen
    Miracle Masala: hi Zen :-)
    Zen Arado: Hi Miracle :)
    Zen Arado: Hi all
    Archmage Atlantis: Hello bro
    iwandertoo Resident: waves

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus: i got to leave
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey zen
Wol Euler: bye yaku, sleep well
Bruce Mowbray: Have a great weekend, Yaku!
    Bleu Oleander: bye Yaku
    Yakuzza Lethecus: good night/day everyone
    Yakuzza Lethecus: thx
Miracle Masala: sorry I cannot sit, until things rezz
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
Bruce Mowbray: We understand, Miracle... we're all been there.
    Zen Arado: bye Yaku
    Bruce Mowbray: we've*
    Miracle Masala: :-)
Wol Euler: try reducing your display distance, miracle, that often speeds up rezzing
Zen Arado: or not been there :)
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Miracle Masala: tx, will do
    Archmage Atlantis: testing - 1. 2. 3
    Wol Euler: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: 4
    Bruce Mowbray: (embedded cognition?)
Archmage Atlantis: I woke up to the Miss San Antonio pagent decision in US court
    Archmage Atlantis: Only in Texas
Wol Euler: what was the case about?
Archmage Atlantis: The winner was too ""heavy" ------ by 15 lbs.
    Wol Euler: o.O
Archmage Atlantis: Looked heatlhy, not anarexic
Wol Euler: well we can't have that!
    Bruce Mowbray: oooOOOOOOOooooo
Wol Euler: good god, a generation of women would grow up at peace with their bodies, if htat happened!
    Bruce Mowbray: males, too, Wol.
    Wol Euler smiles and nods
Bleu Oleander: doubtful, even if ....
Zen Arado: yeh ..I'm putting on weight :(
Archmage Atlantis: It is happening, and yes Bruce, males too
iwandertoo Resident: if one enters a voluntary contest - should they not follow the rules?
Bruce Mowbray: There was an episode of GLEE about adolescent males' obsession with body image.
Wol Euler: okay, so what was the case actually, and who launched it against whom, and what was the verdict?
    iwandertoo Resident: nods with Wol
Bruce Mowbray: Susan raises an interesting '?'
Archmage Atlantis: The reason she won the case is that she did follow the rules
iwandertoo Resident: you commented, "too heavy" as the premise
Wol Euler: okay, so I infer that a losing contestant sued because the winner was too heavy by the contest rules?
Bleu Oleander: bye all, take care :)
    Zen Arado: bye Bleu
    Miracle Masala: bye Bleu
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, Susan, but when they de-frocked her, the reasons were more
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, Bleu!
Bleu Oleander: going to eat some chocolate :)
Bruce Mowbray: Have a great weekend.
Wol Euler: bye bleu, take care
    Wol Euler: mmmmmm :)
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
    Zen Arado: careful Bleu !
    Archmage Atlantis: Bye Blue-ti
Zen Arado: you have a sweet Bleu - tooth
Wol Euler: and those reasons were?
iwandertoo Resident: absence of context...will read about it
Bruce Mowbray: Bleu-tooth is enough to turn my berries black.
Archmage Atlantis: Not being on time, not following some other rules
Zen Arado: Arch pleads for leniency :)
    Wol Euler: boom boom!

    --BELL--

Archmage Atlantis: Still, her pagent director said to her "you are eating too many tacos"....
    Archmage Atlantis: Harry's Law
    Archmage Atlantis: In rl
Zen Arado: 'too many tacos' could be the clinching factor
Archmage Atlantis: I think there was some racial overtone there
    Archmage Atlantis: true
    Bruce Mowbray: I agree, Arch.
Zen Arado: the weight of evidence is growing
Miracle Masala: it seems odd to me that in this day and age women still want to compete with their beauty
Zen Arado: and so is the defendant
Archmage Atlantis: Still, I believe she was at least 3rd gen US
    Bruce Mowbray: good point, Miracle.
    Wol Euler: agreed, miracle
Archmage Atlantis: odd to me also, Miracle
Zen Arado: yes they still seem to though
Wol Euler: on the other hand, look at the people all queueing up to take part in "reality tv" shows
Zen Arado: it can't just be the prizes?
    Zen Arado: yeh
Zen Arado: if you git it flaunt it
Wol Euler: well, and the fame and money and the chance to get out of a dead-end home
Archmage Atlantis: My mom was a teacher, one of the first class of women at UF
Miracle Masala: it must be kind of scary to rely on beauty so much, when everybody knows, it doesn't last
    Zen Arado: yeh
    Miracle Masala: UF?
Bruce Mowbray: males (some of them) compete for power -- females (some of them) compete with beauty (or what they consider to be beauty)
Zen Arado: or make the most of it while it lasts
Zen Arado: might get seen by rich handsome man
Zen Arado: but that's old fashioned thinking isn't it?
Miracle Masala: do they exist in that combination?;-)
Archmage Atlantis: UF = University of Florida
Bruce Mowbray continues to ponder embodied cognition.
Zen Arado: they aren't helping the female cause
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
    iwandertoo Resident: best to everyone
    Zen Arado: bye Susan
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, Susan!
Miracle Masala: is there a united female cause?
Bruce Mowbray: Do come back when you can
    Wol Euler: bye susan
    Zen Arado: not really
Zen Arado: or don't know really
    Miracle Masala: equality?
Zen Arado: if there was it isn't helping anyway
Archmage Atlantis: Hillary is creating an extention......Susan (forget the name) began it in the late 1800s
Zen Arado: going back to the fiftues
    Zen Arado: fifties
Zen Arado: dumb blondes and allk that
    Bruce Mowbray: Susan B, Anthony?
    Archmage Atlantis: Tks, yes Bruce
    Bruce Mowbray: yw
Miracle Masala: I think the fact that women tried to be exactly like men, has not helped either
Miracle Masala: career women in suits, denying themselves motherhood, etc, being 'tough' like men
    Zen Arado: yes
Miracle Masala: that is useless 'equality' in my opinion
Zen Arado: becoming men in other words
Miracle Masala: yes like men, 'sameness', rather than different equals
Zen Arado: instead of being allowed to enhance their female traits
Archmage Atlantis: It was a way to become, Miracle, now we re-think
Zen Arado: (if there are those)
    Miracle Masala: yes
Archmage Atlantis: Roles, they are only ways to fit into society
    Archmage Atlantis: Short hand
Archmage Atlantis: Not meant to define lives
    Miracle Masala: you don't think?
Archmage Atlantis: I don't think that is what they are meant for......I do think that is what they can become

    --BELL--

Zen Arado: worse if you are forced to adopt one
    Zen Arado: by society
    Archmage Atlantis: Agree
Archmage Atlantis: I was never forced
Miracle Masala: well, is that not what sort of happens when we grow up?
    Zen Arado: yes
Bruce Mowbray: A simple uniform should do the trick -- then take it off when "role" is done.
    Archmage Atlantis: Not always
    Zen Arado: can't escape it
    Zen Arado: it is relentless
Miracle Masala: wish it was that easy :-)
    Zen Arado: relentless pressure
Bruce Mowbray: Becoming a hermit is an option.
    Bruce Mowbray: or is it?
    Zen Arado: true
Archmage Atlantis: Having parents who allow one to be oneself, .....it doesn't stop society from stepping in
Zen Arado: but the pressure is there that makes you become a hermit?
Miracle Masala: school will do its dirty work, lol
    Archmage Atlantis: Yes, MM
Bruce Mowbray: If one cannot be genuinely oneself in society -- then becoming a hermit might be a worthy option.
    Archmage Atlantis: It does
Bruce Mowbray: especially in a world of cyber communication. . .
    Zen Arado: yes Bruce
Zen Arado: a non cummunicative hermit?
    Zen Arado: communicative
Bruce Mowbray: Well, there are lots of different types of hermits, of course.
Miracle Masala: you still have your inner voiced to deal with
Bruce Mowbray: I am a hermit -- but I also communicate.
    Zen Arado: there are?
Bruce Mowbray: Hermits ESPECIALLY have their inner voices to deal with -
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, the inner voice, good words
Bruce Mowbray: because they are easier to hear when you're alone.
Zen Arado: yeh - they get louder
Miracle Masala: so in the end you have to deal with yourself in either case
    Bruce Mowbray: definitely louder.
Miracle Masala: part of society, or as a hermit
    Bruce Mowbray: like demons.
    Zen Arado: true Miracle
    Archmage Atlantis: Ka ching
Zen Arado: have to face our demons
    Miracle Masala: hm
Miracle Masala: that sounds very serious
    Miracle Masala: demons
    Bruce Mowbray: yeppers.
Bruce Mowbray: It's serious all right.
Zen Arado: they are nasty boys
Bruce Mowbray: but it's also a good reason to become a hermit -- If you want to deal with them.
Miracle Masala: I think using relationships is also a good way to deal with yourself
    Zen Arado: yes
Archmage Atlantis: demons, to me, are without gender, neither boys or girls
Miracle Masala: seeing yourself reflected in others
Zen Arado: the hothouse of relationships
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, Miracle, if they are genuine relationships, I agree.
Miracle Masala: what is an un-genuine relationship?
Zen Arado: the girl demons are the worst maybe :)
Wol Euler: my dears, I'm fading. GOodnight, take care, be happy
    Miracle Masala: bye Wol
    Zen Arado: nite Wol
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, agree with Wol
Bruce Mowbray: a non-genuine relationship is one in which one or both partners are faking it -- trying to be a false self.
    Bruce Mowbray: G'night Woly.
    Archmage Atlantis: Blessing and Namaste
    Zen Arado: bye Arch
Miracle Masala: whatever that means, but that also says a lot about oneself
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye, Arch.
Bruce Mowbray: Because I frequent SL, one of my closest friends thinks I am delusional . . . but she refuses to come in-world, preferring to judge me instead...
Zen Arado doesn't always know if he is genuine or not
Bruce Mowbray: I think that's a bit false on her part.... but I've been in here for over a year and she persists.r a
Miracle Masala: we all have those friends
    Miracle Masala: non SL ers
Zen Arado: I haVE friends like that too :)
Bruce Mowbray: Well, it's not really 'false' -- but it is surely lacking in empathy.
Miracle Masala: I tell them RL is also not 'real', then they are SURE I'm delusional, lol
Bruce Mowbray: especially when I say that SL is one of the most life-enhancing things I've ever done.
    Bruce Mowbray: lol!
Miracle Masala: what is lacking in empathy?
Bruce Mowbray: When I say something is THAT VALUABLE to me -- and my best friend says, No that's not real.
Bruce Mowbray: That, it seems to me, is lacking in empathy.
Bruce Mowbray: What if I said that about something that they value very much?
Miracle Masala: well, everybody judges from their perspective
Zen Arado: they have sharp distinctins about real and unreal
    Zen Arado: that aren't true
Miracle Masala: I used to have those....
    Zen Arado: consensual reality
Bruce Mowbray: yes, Zen. and their sharp opinions seem to cut me out of it.
    Miracle Masala: long gone now
Bruce Mowbray: The sharper the opinion, the more of the world one cuts out.
    Zen Arado: yeh
Miracle Masala: that is a good lesson to learn
Bruce Mowbray: and my friend has helped me learn it,,,, so that's good.
Zen Arado: I'm more of an anti-realist
    Miracle Masala: :-)
    Zen Arado: idealist

    --BELL--

Bruce Mowbray: Time for din-din. May all be happy, safe, and well.
    Miracle Masala: byee
    Zen Arado: bye Bruce
    Miracle Masala: and thanks
    Bruce Mowbray: Thanks, folks.
    Zen Arado: ty Bruce
Miracle Masala: Zen , an you tell me a bit about these meetings?
Zen Arado: what do you want to know?
Miracle Masala: well, what is the general idea
Miracle Masala: and why do you think are they so popular?
Zen Arado: the general idea is on the Wiki
    Miracle Masala: hm
Zen Arado: about coming back to being etc
Zen Arado: I like the people here
Zen Arado: it's a good mixture
    Miracle Masala: ok
Zen Arado: we can be serious or playful
Miracle Masala: what does it mean, coming back to being?
Miracle Masala: I have noticed ;-)
    Zen Arado: ust being mindful
Zen Arado: we are lost in thoughts most of the time
    Miracle Masala: mindful of what?
Zen Arado: of what is happening right here and now
Zen Arado: instead of dreams of the future or memories of the past
    Miracle Masala: yes
    Miracle Masala: and the breaks?
Zen Arado: we are kind of unconscious lots of the time you could say
    Miracle Masala: indeed
Zen Arado: well that is to practice that
Zen Arado: I don't do it I admit
    Zen Arado: I pt
Miracle Masala: you don't do what?
Zen Arado: prefer my meditation practice
Zen Arado: the coming back every 15 mins
Zen Arado: though I honour it when I am here
    Miracle Masala: yes
Zen Arado: it seems a bit mechanical to me
Zen Arado: but it could be useful to ppl just starting to think of some kind of mindfulness practice
    Miracle Masala: yes
Zen Arado: but I was meditatiokn for a long time before I came here
Zen Arado: that should spill over into the rest of my life
Miracle Masala: yes, everything has an effect one everything else I would think
Zen Arado: and if somrthing upsets me I notice the effect on me
    Zen Arado: investigate the sensations
Zen Arado: instead of building up mind chatter
Zen Arado: I am much calmer these days
Miracle Masala: what do you do with it? detach? accept?
Zen Arado: it's more about seeing
    Zen Arado: awareness
    Miracle Masala: observe
    Zen Arado: then acceptance
    Zen Arado: yes
Miracle Masala: yes, so detaching, then accepting
Zen Arado: that's what meditation is
    Zen Arado: not detaching really
Zen Arado: that's running away or repressing
Miracle Masala: well, is observing not a form of not identifying with it?
    Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: but you can kind of put a wall between yourself and your feelings by detaching
Zen Arado: it's good to experience them fully I think
Zen Arado: then the mind gets bored with them and they dissipate naturally
    Miracle Masala: yes
Zen Arado: but you don't add more fuel to them
Zen Arado: so you notice then come back to the breath or something
    Zen Arado: that's the process

    --BELL--

Miracle Masala: do you get angry during meditation?
Zen Arado: if I was angry before meditation sometimes the thoughts keep churning
    Miracle Masala: ah yes
Zen Arado: no use beating yourself up about that
    Miracle Masala: no, lol
    Zen Arado: you just persevere
Zen Arado: each time it isn't so bad
Zen Arado: you get a little quieter each time you sit
    Zen Arado: is my experience
    Miracle Masala: yes
Zen Arado: but you have to do the practice
Miracle Masala: have you had some 'wow' experiences with it?
Zen Arado: it isn't head knowledge
Zen Arado: sometimes I get funny experiences at retreats
    Miracle Masala: funny?
Zen Arado: but they dont' mean much
Zen Arado: I see strange things
Zen Arado: it's a long term thing
Zen Arado: it works on you
Zen Arado: the mnd gets bored at retreats so it looks for somethng to do
Miracle Masala: how can you motivate yourself, when the effect is so long term?
Zen Arado: so mine conjures up strange things
Zen Arado: it gets to be a habit
    Miracle Masala: yes
    Zen Arado: I don't mind
    Zen Arado: it gets easier
Zen Arado: it can be enjoyable even blissful sometimes
Zen Arado: but often just boring
Miracle Masala: I like our little pracice with Bert
    Miracle Masala: practice
    Zen Arado: yes
    Zen Arado: me too
Zen Arado: but you need to sit every day
    Miracle Masala: I understand
Miracle Masala: but since I'm not in the habit, for me it's a reminder that the habit of meditating is waiting for me :-)
Zen Arado: start with a short time
Zen Arado: even 10 mins is beneficial
Zen Arado: then expand when you feel like it
Zen Arado: but it's up to you
Miracle Masala: yes, I sometimes remember to do it in bed, that is at least a start
Miracle Masala: mostly I just forget or get busy
    Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: that's why you need to set aside a time
    Zen Arado: morning or evening
Miracle Masala: indeed, the story of my life
Zen Arado: it's easier for me cos I am retired
Zen Arado: but I still miss sometimes
Zen Arado: we are having a retreat at pab this weekend
Miracle Masala: what does that look like?
Zen Arado: so I am going to do a lot of meditation in the next two days
    Zen Arado: 4 sessions perday
Zen Arado: but a lot of sharing and talking
Zen Arado: not like a zen retreat which is sitting in silence most of the time
    Miracle Masala: I see
Miracle Masala: thanks for explaining it all tome
Zen Arado: hope that made some sense to you
Miracle Masala: yes, it did, thank you
    Miracle Masala: it's a big committment, that's why I'm procrastinating ;-)
Miracle Masala: but it is calling me, I can feel it
Zen Arado: nah ust try it and see how it goes ;0
Miracle Masala: hehe, live life one day at a time
Zen Arado: you can't figure these things out beforehand
    Zen Arado: yes
    Zen Arado: it is experiential
    Miracle Masala: yes
Miracle Masala: but it takes some organisation to make the time, that is all
    Zen Arado: yes
Miracle Masala: namaste then , I'm making the rounds tonight
    Miracle Masala: be well
    Miracle Masala: :-)
    Zen Arado: you too
    Zen Arado: bye :)
    Miracle Masala: byee
