stevenaia Michinaga: yes, sand and daulphin
Geo Netizen: Yes ... things seem to come in waves often
Geo Netizen: Did you swim with the dauphins?
stevenaia Michinaga: close enough to see
Geo Netizen: Do you have a little vacation left or are you already being drawn back into the full intensity of RL?

    --BELL--

Geo Netizen: Weddings are always a great time ... so much optimism
    stevenaia Michinaga: *retired
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, optimism is a powerful force
Geo Netizen: No ... not retired ... moving in new directions
Geo Netizen: I like your title: "Cultivator"
stevenaia Michinaga: you can ware it too, somewhere in PaB Guardian groups there are 3 ops, Guardian, Cultivator and some othertion
Geo Netizen: Ah .... PaB Host
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Geo Netizen: Now I am a cultivator too :))
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    Geo Netizen: Sounds so 'fruitful'
Geo Netizen: I was looking at the picture of the 3rd anniversary party.
Geo Netizen: Did that just take place?
stevenaia Michinaga: I think the 5th year anniv. just took place in April :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: time does fly
Geo Netizen: Ah ... that seem more like it, 5 years. Quite the adventure.
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, I have found it quite the journey
stevenaia Michinaga: there is thunder near if I dissappear, I may loose my internet
    Geo Netizen nods
    Geo Netizen: Hi Paradise
    Geo Netizen smiles
Paradise Tennant: smiles hiya geo nice to see you :)) hiya stev :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: evening Para

    --BELL--

Geo Netizen: We were just listening to the thunder.
stevenaia Michinaga: this week's theme is Music, perhaps the thunder here is a tune to listen too
    Geo Netizen nods in agreement
    stevenaia Michinaga: sounds of earth
Paradise Tennant: ooooo I like that theme
Geo Netizen: Communication by humans through music probably predates communication through words.
stevenaia Michinaga: like a bird's sng
    stevenaia Michinaga: song
Geo Netizen: I like to think that the first form of truly human communication was a wordless lullaby by mother to baby.
stevenaia Michinaga: A sung of very useful utility
Paradise Tennant: I am thinking it was a smile or a tear :))
    Geo Netizen nods
Geo Netizen: But if we think in terms of the use of sound to communicate, then perhaps it might still be the lullaby.
Paradise Tennant: Explanations of the origin of music depend on how music is defined. If we assume that music is a form of intentional emotional manipulation, music as we know it was not possible until the onset of intentionality - the ability to reflect about the past and the future. Between 60,000 and 30,000 years ago humans started creating art in the form of paintings on cave walls, jewelry and so on (the "cultural explosion"). They also started to bury their dead ceremonially. If we assume that these new forms of behavior reflect the emergence of intentionality, then music as we know it must also have emerged during that period.
    Paradise Tennant: from
    Paradise Tennant: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prehistoric_music
Geo Netizen: Yet the simple intention to calm a baby with soothing (musical type) sound would qualify, I think.
Geo Netizen: It could predate the more labor intensive types of art.
stevenaia Michinaga: changing a mood through singing does not have to be an artistic expression, just a way to change for one state to another
Geo Netizen: It could have developed as soon as the vocal cords were capable of producing musical type sounds.
Geo Netizen: Yes, I think that's a good point Stev
Geo Netizen: and that would qualify as communication in my understanding of that term
    Paradise Tennant: yes ..
stevenaia Michinaga: nods the deepest communication is on an emotional level
Geo Netizen: And if that deeply rooted ability to use music to change moods is true (ie it goes back really far in humans) that could help explain the power of music.
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps poetry is a kind of music with words

    --BELL--

Geo Netizen: I definitely agree with that Stev
Geo Netizen: Wind caresses earth, Life dances to the music - So I dance with you.
Paradise Tennant: A cicada shell A cicada shell; it sang itself utterly away. Translated by R.H. Blyth Matsuo Basho
Geo Netizen: Ah ... Basho ... he is the greatest of the Haiku masters.
Geo Netizen: That is a great example, very rich in simplicity and yet layered meaning.
Paradise Tennant: in a way we all sing ourselves away :)
Geo Netizen: Perhaps for us the 'away' to to a conclusion ... or journey's end.
    Geo Netizen: *is to*
    Paradise Tennant: yes
Paradise Tennant: maybe being enlightened is really only profoundly and truly being wound down :)
Geo Netizen: A shedding of appearances perhaps

    --BELL--

Geo Netizen: Is is possible to "sing away" that which imprisons our core being?
Paradise Tennant: yes .. if we are but a song :)
stevenaia Michinaga: Hard to keep ahold of the prison walls while singing an uplifting song
    Geo Netizen smiles
    Geo Netizen: Well put Stev
