Lucinda Lavender: were just in Port Townsend last weekend and had figs with half and half and honey on them!!!

Calvino Rabeni: and I looked down and there was a big doe lying down near the bottom of the ladder
Calvino Rabeni: kneeling, as they do while resting during the day
Calvino Rabeni: so I threw down some leaves, which caused no disturbance
Lucinda Lavender: Doe ...a deer!
Jaime Kungfu: I Just heard a hawk
Calvino Rabeni: and finished working there, and started to climb down
Calvino Rabeni: but I got distracted, trying not to disturb the deer
Calvino Rabeni: and being quiet ... anyway the ladder tipped and toppled backwards
Calvino Rabeni: dumping me on my ass on the steps
Calvino Rabeni: and the ladder fell onto the doe
Jaime Kungfu: lol, I hope you weren't hurt!
Jaime Kungfu: I hope she wasn't either
Lucinda Lavender: oh my...yes!
Calvino Rabeni: almost, .. because they are good at suddenly evaporating .. so it fell where she had been
Calvino Rabeni: and neither of us were the worse for wear,

Lucinda Lavender: it is what we do if there is leftover rice.saute with garlic.
Calvino Rabeni: I've been enjoying those purple potatoes ... I wonder if the purple is nutritious
Jaime Kungfu: garlic makes nearly everything better

Jaime Kungfu: probably toxic, potatoes are in the nightshade family
Lucinda Lavender: and love the color purple
Lucinda Lavender: we eat the purple potatoes too

Lucinda Lavender: I learned today from a gardener with a lot of tomatoes that they can be put in the freezer and will be quite usable in soups and stews without the skin because it will just fall off.
Calvino Rabeni: Nods, If only that were known 30 years ago ... how much labor could have been saved :)
Jaime Kungfu: My gf made most of them into sauce and froze it for use for the next year
Calvino Rabeni: I had a huge crop about 2 years ago, and stewed it down in a restaurant pot into marinara .. quite good

Lucinda Lavender: the thing about this freezing process is that it seems to retain a fresh flavor
