[19:04] Korel Laloix: It is sad these days though.. to get a read on a news story you have to read quite a few sources to get both sides of th story.
[19:04] Korel Laloix: Just like CNN, NBC, PBS or FOX then... all really not worth paying attention to you unless you want to be lied to.
[19:05] Korel Laloix: My generation is really fed up with it.
[19:06] DR42 Resident: NPR is probably the most balanced.

[19:06] Korel Laloix: I would dissagree on the PBS thing... but it is an opinion for sure

[19:07] carlicann Resident: i like the news that Organic Consumers Association generates for example... and National Nurses United
[19:08] carlicann Resident: PBS has a lot of political pressure on it... NPR is a bit more independent because they got a recent large endowment
[19:08] Korel Laloix: PBS recently put out this really disgusting race bating piece about us.... got a lot of people rilled up.
[19:08] Korel Laloix: LUckily, their Ombudsman ripped it apart before it could do too much damage.

[19:09] Korel Laloix: Reminds me of their Breaking the Silence fiasco as well.
[19:09] Korel Laloix: I guess for me, on the issue that I care about... PBS is pure propaganda..... so I discount the rest of their work perhaps.
[19:10] Korel Laloix: Maybe I should give them another look based on your recommendations.
[19:11] DR42 Resident: Not PBS, but NPR. Mostly when they carry the BBC World Service.

[19:11] Korel Laloix: The Bottom Line My finding is that the series was deeply flawed and should not have been aired as it was. The series committed five sins that violate NPR's code of standards and ethics. They were: 1. No proof for its main allegations of wrongdoing; 2. Unfair tone in communicating these unproven allegations; 3. Factual errors, shaky anecdotes and misleading use of data by quietly switching what was being measured; 4. Incomplete reporting and lack of critical context; 5. No response from the state on many key points.
[19:12] Korel Laloix: And this is their own saying it....
[19:12] Korel Laloix: Hard to find good data on things... a source of frustration for sure.

[19:14] DR42 Resident: Well, at least they call their own to task. Fox, for example, would never say things like that, even when blatantly true.
[19:14] Korel Laloix: Just like the other networks though... From what I have seen, Fox is not worse than the other, just the opposite direction
[19:16] DR42 Resident: Their sin is that they claim to be "fair and balanced" when they are nothing of the sort.
[19:16] Korel Laloix: And these days they are the only network that actively highlights the racism, mysogniy and incompetance of this adminstration. Sad to think we could have had President Hillary.
[19:17] Korel Laloix: I really hope she runs.... I will so be on the campaign.
[19:18] Korel Laloix: Sort of depressing the presidents I have had in my living memory....
[19:19] Korel Laloix: But life goes on and I do realize that I am fundamentally blessed being in this country and in this time.

[19:20] Korel Laloix: It is funny that when I talk with older folks about presidents.. the only one that does not draw all sorts of bad comments is the older Bush.
