2013.08.05 13:00 - Music and octopus

The Guardian for this meeting was Rosatta Resident. The comments are by Rosatta Resident.

Rosatta Resident: 's current display-name is "Rosatta".
Rosatta Resident: Today's suggested topic is music. Since no one else is here I guess I'll share some of my favorite songs
    Rosatta Resident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGmBSH3O1jU
Rosatta Resident: This is "The Trail We Blaze" by Elton John which I prefer to the movie version.
    --BELL--
Rosatta Resident: I feel the lyrics to this song are work with the basic concept of PaB. It has a sense of playful adventure and discovery, which, I believe, is what Being all about. Just my thoughts. No one else has to agree.
Rosatta Resident: Daily my daughter and I do about an hour of prayer, meditation and affirmations. Among the reading we use is a creed that I downloaded from site that offered it and some others. Part of it goes like this: We believe in God/Being as teh Cosmic Force that placed us on earth - earth that is a miracle of creation, lovingly blessed with immense beauty and riches, for the purpose of our enjoyment and exploration, and for the fulfillment of our role as caretakers in the employ of the Supreme Being.
Rosatta Resident: I know the wording is a little different than some people will be comfortable with, but it leads into this next song that I recently discovered and have learned to love
    Qt Core: Hi Rosatta
Rosatta Resident: Hi, QT : ) It is good to see you
    Rosatta Resident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCMhW92GYUc
Qt Core: One would wonder.... if you take it away would the earth deflate ? ;-)
Rosatta Resident: The suggested topic for today is music - is there a song about that? lol
    Rosatta Resident: Just teasing
Rosatta Resident: If you take what away would the earth deflate?
    Qt Core: Ayers Rock
Rosatta Resident: Like pulling the plug from the earth's navel?
    Rosatta Resident: :-D
Rosatta Resident: The parts of the song that speak to me are the descriptions of the land and "I'm proud to roam the land like an Aborigine". I would live the life it was available
    --BELL--
Qt Core: i only got a word here and there, i'm way better with written english than with spoken english
Rosatta Resident: I understand. Let me get the lyrics for you.
Rosatta Resident: Pastel red to burgundy and spinifex to gold, We've just come out of the Mulga where the plains forever roll. And Albert Namatjira has painted all the scenes, And a shower has changed the lustre of our land.
Rosatta Resident: spinifex is a very tough, sharp type of wild grass
Rosatta Resident: I don't know what the Mulga is, I would have to google it
Rosatta Resident: I don't know the reference to Albert namatjira, either but it sounds like a reference to a nature god, possible
Rosatta Resident: And it's raining on the Rock, In a beautiful country, And I'm proud to travel this big land, As an Aborigine. And it's raining on the Rock What an almighty sight to see, And I'm wishing and I'm dreaming that you were here with me.
Rosatta Resident: Everlasting daisies and a beautiful desert rose Where does their beauty come from heaven knows. I could ask the wedge-tail but he's away too high, I wonder if he understands it's wonderful to fly.
Rosatta Resident: The wedge-tail is a type of eagle
Rosatta Resident: It cannot be described with a picture, The mesmerising colours of the Olgas. Or the grandeur of the Rock Uluru has power!
Qt Core: would probably be a great experience being there... especially if there are not too many humans around
Rosatta Resident: Ah, the page has an explantion of Albert Albert Namatjira The first Aboriginal artist to put paint to paper and produce landscapes that weren't traditional dot paintings. He made us aware of the outback colours before we saw them with our own eyes.
Rosatta Resident: Uluru is a tourist attraction to the great grief of the Aboriginies : (
Rosatta Resident: But the outback is mostly empty
Rosatta Resident: I'm American and low income so I will never see these things, but it makes me happy knowing they are there
    Zon Kwan: heya
Rosatta Resident: Hi, Zon : ) Good to see you
    Qt Core: Hi zon
Zon Kwan: what things rosata ?
Rosatta Resident: The suggested topic is music. I shared a song about Uluru, the great rock in the middle of Australia
Rosatta Resident: It speaks of the many beauties of the outback
Zon Kwan: would like to see it
    Rosatta Resident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCMhW92GYUc
Zon Kwan: so many beautiful places
Rosatta Resident: I would too. I'm an American with little money, so I never will, but it makes me happy to know about them
Zon Kwan: you never know..you might win in lottery
Rosatta Resident: I tell my daughter often a line from the movie "Support Your Local Sheriff" - basically I'm just on my way to Australia lol
Rosatta Resident: Well, I don't play the lottery, so if that is going to happen I better start :-D
    Zon Kwan: yes
Zon Kwan: give life a chance
Rosatta Resident: If I could go anywhere, ti would be somewhere to live with dolphins
    Zon Kwan: why ?
Rosatta Resident: Dolphins are . . . hmmmm
Rosatta Resident: I love the ocean and dolphins are the closet things to humans in the sea - and they are kinder than humans
Rosatta Resident: They are known for altruistic actions.
    Zon Kwan: much kinder
Rosatta Resident: I don't remember who it was, but one of the ancient Greeks said that dolphins are the only creature that loves man for mans' sake
    --BELL--
Rosatta Resident: There are many stories of men being rescued from sharks or from drowning by dolphins
Rosatta Resident: There is . . . oops
Rosatta Resident: There is a video on YouTube of a small dolphin family encouraging a young seal that had lost it's family and had given up and was just waiting to die. The pup perked up its courage and swam off. Hopefully it found its family.
Zon Kwan: i have heard that they have high consciousness level
Rosatta Resident: I suppose there are those who would object, but I believe they are easily as intelligent as people
Rosatta Resident: One creature that I love may be more intelligent than humans - that is the octopus
Zon Kwan: might be even more intelligent,,,
Rosatta Resident: Octopus have very short lives. Except for the giant Pacific which will live about 5 years, all others live 6 months to 18 months and the amount of learning they do in that short time flabbergasts those who study them
Rosatta Resident: Some have said that if octopus lived as long as humans they would prove to far superior in intelligence
Zon Kwan: one octobus foresaw the results of football championship games in geramny
Zon Kwan: unfortunately it then died
Rosatta Resident: Yes. They have very short lives
Rosatta Resident: I would imagine that predicting is another skill other than intelligence?
    Zon Kwan: might be
    Rosatta Resident: lol who knows?
Zon Kwan: topic is music ?
    Rosatta Resident: Yes : )
    Rosatta Resident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7YQNR-7RSY
Rosatta Resident: The Octopus' Garden by the Beatles with footage of a giant Pacific octopus who is wearing pink
Rosatta Resident: The color and the spikes indicate distress
Zon Kwan: always loved this song
Rosatta Resident: Octopus can not only change color, but they can change color patterns and they change skin texture from smooth to looking like a kelp-covered rock to everything in between
    Zon Kwan: didnt know that
Rosatta Resident: Ah, you got me started on one of my favorite topics and I forgot to shut up
    Zon Kwan: lol
    Zon Kwan: just go on
    Rosatta Resident: :-D
Rosatta Resident: You're making me a happy woman
Zon Kwan: but how does music and octopusses link
    Zon Kwan: besides this song
Rosatta Resident: It's kind of a trend I started - music and the beauty of this earth. But it can be changed
Rosatta Resident: And Being being playful and all about exploring and experiencing
Zon Kwan: music is very profound
Rosatta Resident: I often wonder if Being speaks in music - or speaks music - I guress I'm making sense
    Zon Kwan: it does
Zon Kwan: its tha language of consciousness
Rosatta Resident: Thank you : )
    --BELL--
Zon Kwan: communication on a level higher than thinking
    Rosatta Resident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-LTWFnGmeg
Rosatta Resident: This is probably the most fascinating octopus of all.
    Zon Kwan: lol
    Zon Kwan: that was great
    Rosatta Resident: : )
Zon Kwan: as he run with legs
Rosatta Resident: You made my day enjoying that, also
Zon Kwan: had good sense of humour
Rosatta Resident: That is too funny, isn't it?
Rosatta Resident: It looked like a stone fish to me
Rosatta Resident: Running on two legs lol
Zon Kwan: like saying, look at am
    Zon Kwan: me
Rosatta Resident: It went fast that way, too
Zon Kwan: i am starting to believe what you said about their intelligence
    Rosatta Resident: : -D
Rosatta Resident: I could see Being thinking "Let's see what people thing about THIS" lol
    Rosatta Resident: *think
    Zon Kwan: nods
Rosatta Resident: If there is a Consciousness that manifests in this way, of course : )
    Zon Kwan: and there is
    Rosatta Resident: : )
Rosatta Resident: Do either of you have a song you could share?
Rosatta Resident: Maybe one that reflects your concept of Being, or your experience being Being?
Zon Kwan: what is your favourite ?
Rosatta Resident: Earlier I shared The Trail We Blaze by Elton John. I will find it
Zon Kwan: not sure if i heard it
    Rosatta Resident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGmBSH3O1jU
Rosatta Resident: For me it reflects the attitude of exploration and adventure with a positive attitude, maybe even with a sense of fun that is how I like to think being Being is
Zon Kwan: its new to me
Zon Kwan: the song i mean
    Rosatta Resident: : )
Rosatta Resident: It's from an animated moving "The Road to El Dorabo"
    --BELL--
    Rosatta Resident: *Dorado
    Zon Kwan: movie ?
Rosatta Resident: Yes. An animated one - a cartoon
Zon Kwan: i loved the lion king song
Zon Kwan: can you feel the love tonight
    Zon Kwan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8FM8nyy_Fk
Rosatta Resident: lol Do you know what NaNoWriMo is?
    Zon Kwan: no
Rosatta Resident: It's National Novel Writing Month. People all around the world take teh month of November and try to write a 50,000 word novel
    Rosatta Resident: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycBKQFWWm2g
Rosatta Resident: This is a parody of Can you Feel The Love Tonight done for NaNoWriMo
    Zon Kwan: lol
Rosatta Resident: NaNo overnight is the last night of NaNoWriMo where people get together to try to finish their novels before midnight
Zon Kwan: are you participating ?
Rosatta Resident: I have been thinking about it. That is a real challenge
Rosatta Resident: From The Lion Kind I've always love these words from The Circle of Life song: From the day we arrive on the planet And blinking, step into the sun There's more to see than can ever be seen More to do than can ever be done There's far too much to take in here More to find than can ever be found
    Zon Kwan: smiles
Zon Kwan: how long is 50 000 words ?
Rosatta Resident: It's a slim book
    Zon Kwan: in pages ?
Rosatta Resident: If a page is between 250 and 300 words . . . hmmmmm I'd have to do the math
    Zon Kwan: lol
    Zon Kwan: more than 100
Rosatta Resident: Looks like between 170 and 200 pages, depending on things liek how much dialog is used
Rosatta Resident: Dialog takes up more space
Zon Kwan: have you written a novel ?
Rosatta Resident: No. I really haven't done much except occasional short stories and quite a few 'slice of life'
Rosatta Resident: 'slice of life' are little scenes that aren't really a complete story - just and interesting something that happened
Zon Kwan: well, thats more than me
    Zon Kwan: lol
    Rosatta Resident: : )
Rosatta Resident: I've had some people like what I wrote and urge me to actually do the work, so I've been playing around with the thought of doing NaNo just for the development of discipline
Rosatta Resident: To be a writer one must develop the ability to actually stay in the chair
Rosatta Resident: A phrase in German I was told translates as 'glue butt' I love it
    Zon Kwan: lol
Rosatta Resident: Well, dear Pabers, rl calls. Thank you so much for being here
Rosatta Resident: I was talking to myself before you came
    Qt Core: Bye Zon
    Zon Kwan: me too, bye
Rosatta Resident: Bye, QQT and Zon
