01:20] Alessa Tzal: Morning QT
[01:20] Qt Core: Hi Alessa
[01:20] Alessa Tzal: I think Wol's on the way
[01:20] Qt Core: probably
[01:21] Alessa Tzal: Guess she overslept or something :p
[01:21] Alessa Tzal: Yay
[01:21] Alessa Tzal: Hello sleepyhead
[01:21] Wol Euler: yeah :(
[01:22] Wol Euler: good morning
[01:22] Qt Core: Hi Wol
[01:22] Wol Euler: nice outfit!
[01:22] Alessa Tzal: I was just looking for an email to say you weren't coming ;-)
[01:22] Alessa Tzal: TY
[01:22] Wol Euler: no, just failed to get out of bed after the alarm went off
[01:23] Alessa Tzal: Aww
[01:23] Wol Euler: I was dreaming about a PaB retreat
[01:23] Wol Euler: we all missed our flights home, so we gathered at a cafe (unplanned) where we had been during hte retreat
[01:23] Wol Euler: nobody seemed particularly concerned
[01:23] Alessa Tzal: A dream retreat eh
[01:24] Alessa Tzal: Maybe nobody wanted to go home
[01:24] Qt Core: maybe you suffer from pab retreat deprivation, Wol ;-)
[01:24] Wol Euler: it's always a mixed feeling at the end of the retreat, not wanting to leave the marvellously calm and intimate atmosphere
[01:24] Alessa Tzal: Yeh
[01:24] Wol Euler: definitely, qt
[01:24] Alessa Tzal: Any idea where you were?
[01:25] Wol Euler: hmmmm
[01:26] Wol Euler: it was an old city, dense, hot and dusty, with large parks or open forested land threaded through it
[01:26] Alessa Tzal: Hm
[01:26] Wol Euler: I remember looking at a map
[01:26] Wol Euler: when we were thinking about how to get to the airport
[01:26] Qt Core: somewhere in india on the dry season ?
[01:27] Wol Euler: realizing we'd walked miles and needed a taxi to get there on time
[01:27] Alessa Tzal: Wow
[01:27] Wol Euler: but when we did arrive (in what felt like a few cheaply renovated rooms in a large and tall Victorian era railway station) none of us could find any indication of their flight, nor anyone to ask
[01:28] Wol Euler: so we all (individually) just gave up and went back to "our cafe" where we had met
[01:28] Alessa Tzal: Do you remember any of the people there?
[01:29] Wol Euler: Mick came by, he was the only one I remember having a name and a real face.
[01:29] Wol Euler: (right at the end, at the cafe)
[01:29] Alessa Tzal grins
[01:29] Wol Euler: he asked me if my flight was later that day, I replied no I'd missed it too
[01:30] Wol Euler: looked at my watch for some reason, and that reminded the viewer of the dream that I had to be here, so I woke with a start
[01:31] Alessa Tzal: So instead of being at your session you were away on retreat...nice
[01:33] Wol Euler: yep
[01:33] Alessa Tzal: Yo!
[01:33] Alessa Tzal hi 5s Wol
[01:33] Wol Euler grins.
[01:34] Alessa Tzal: I first read your tag as Psychedelic Fury ;)
[01:34] Wol Euler: fear the furry!
[01:34] Alessa Tzal: Could be
[01:34] Wol Euler: (for the log: Psychedelic Furry)
[01:34] Alessa Tzal: Or Billy
[01:35] Wol Euler: how do you get Billy out of that?
[01:36] Alessa Tzal: Fury
[01:36] Alessa Tzal: Billy Fury no?
[01:36] Wol Euler: ah :) I am clearly not yet awake
[01:36] Alessa Tzal: Hehe
[01:36] Alessa Tzal shoves your face in the pool
[01:37] Wol Euler: blub blub blub
[01:37] Alessa Tzal: Now all we need is Bruce
[01:38] Alessa Tzal: But I guess he'll be fast asleep
[01:38] Wol Euler nods.
[01:38] Qt Core: i want to share something beautiful i found yesterday, it is a one hour long physic lecture/book presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRh75B5iotI (time well spent, if you ask me)
[01:39] Wol Euler: ah! *looks*
[01:39] Qt Core: it is made by Walter Lewin
[01:39] Alessa Tzal: Hmm
[01:40] Alessa Tzal: Nice shirt
[01:40] Wol Euler: yeah, I thought so too :)
[01:40] Wol Euler: I'll have a look later, thank you QT
[01:41] Qt Core: wikipedia (obviously) know about him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Lewin
[01:41] Alessa Tzal: He has an air of Viktor Borge about him for some reason
[01:41] Qt Core: ;-)
[01:42] Qt Core: yes, someone that love what he do and have some fun doing it too
[01:42] Wol Euler nods.
[01:42] Alessa Tzal: I well remember going to see Carl Sagan with my father many years ago
[01:44] Wol Euler waits for more of that story.
[01:44] Alessa Tzal: Well that's it basically
[01:45] Alessa Tzal: He was certainly an amazing guy
[01:46] Alessa Tzal: And Feynman too (sp?)
[01:48] Wol Euler nods.
[01:49] Wol Euler: so, how are you two this morning?
[01:50] Alessa Tzal: Feeling sunday-ish
[01:50] Qt Core: beyond the usual sleepiness you mean ? ;-)
[01:50] Qt Core: brb
[01:51] Alessa Tzal: Were you working late on friday Wollie?
[01:51] Wol Euler: yes, competition due in less than three weeks
[01:52] Alessa Tzal: Ah
[01:52] Alessa Tzal: I wondered how come you weren't at PP
[01:53] Wol Euler: oh, that. Yeah, too tired, I was dozing off during PaB
[01:53] Alessa Tzal: Aww
[01:53] Alessa Tzal: Still jetlagged
[01:54] Qt Core: back
[01:54] Alessa Tzal: ?
[01:54] Alessa Tzal: WB QT
[01:54] Wol Euler: wb, and yes
[01:54] Alessa Tzal: Man it really is lasting this time
[01:55] Alessa Tzal: I wonder if it's as bad when you go the other way
[01:55] Alessa Tzal: IE to an eastern place
[01:56] Wol Euler: um, going to Kyoto was not this bad. And in fact coming home from the US/Canada is not usually this bad.
[01:56] Alessa Tzal: I see
[01:56] Alessa Tzal: Perhaps the warm weather is contributing to it
[01:58] Wol Euler: I'm not sure. But I suspect that my behaviour is contributing, I should be forcing myself into bed even if I just lie there being angrily bored
[01:58] Alessa Tzal: Thing is, sleep is something you should only do when you feel you need it
[01:59] Alessa Tzal: But often that isn't possible
[02:01] Wol Euler nods.
[02:02] Wol Euler: I've been taking lunchtime naps, that helps with the tiredness but not necessarily with the jetlag
[02:02] Alessa Tzal: Hm, yes
[02:02] Alessa Tzal: Only your body clock will do that
[02:03] Wol Euler: yep
[02:03] Alessa Tzal: Is Pulse still going strong?
[02:04] Alessa Tzal: Haven't been there in ages
[02:04] Wol Euler: it seems to be going weakly
[02:05] Wol Euler: they actually held a closing-down sale
[02:05] Alessa Tzal: Oh!
[02:05] Wol Euler: which apparently revived interest to the point that Lorac is making more skins
[02:05] Wol Euler: so please do go and look and maybe buy something
[02:06] Alessa Tzal: I never cared much for their skins for some reason, but the eyes she does are good
[02:06] Alessa Tzal: Probably best in SL
[02:07] Wol Euler smiles.
[02:07] Alessa Tzal: Maybe she's had probs with copybotters
[02:07] Wol Euler: always! from the first week
[02:07] Alessa Tzal sighs
[02:07] Alessa Tzal: I think that would make a lot of creators give up
[02:08] Alessa Tzal: Can't be much fun having your stuff ripped off constantly
[02:09] Qt Core: on a side note it is a sign that your work is good
[02:09] Alessa Tzal: Yes
[02:09] Wol Euler: heheheheh
[02:10] Wol Euler: I'm sure that is a great consolation
[02:10] Alessa Tzal: 'We only steal the best'
[02:10] Qt Core: ;-)
[02:10] Alessa Tzal: Even crooks have some standards it seems
[02:10] Wol Euler: why not? They are running a business too. They want to have stuff that will sell well
[02:11] Qt Core: just read about someone that posted online the pic of his new 500,000 euro watch... had it solen in hours ;-)
[02:11] Alessa Tzal: How does that copybot thing work?
[02:11] Wol Euler: O.O
[02:11] Qt Core: (the double idiot)
[02:11] Alessa Tzal grins @ QT
[02:11] Wol Euler: basically somebody reverse-engineered the SL cache encryption
[02:12] Wol Euler: all the textures you see are on your computer's hard disk, renamed and encrypted
[02:12] Alessa Tzal: Right
[02:12] Wol Euler: which is true of everything you see on the web except streaming video
[02:12] Wol Euler: so all a copybotter does is to decrypt them
[02:12] Alessa Tzal: Aha
[02:12] Qt Core: wondering if sunshine do something about that
[02:13] Wol Euler: this is incidentally one of the reasons for SSB
[02:13] Alessa Tzal: So it isn't a matter of some av going into a store and taking the things there and then?
[02:13] Wol Euler: because you won't be sent all of the textures any more
[02:13] Alessa Tzal: Right
[02:13] Wol Euler: just one single texture including your skin and slider hair
[02:13] Wol Euler: it probably won't stop copybotting entirely but it will make it much more work
[02:14] Alessa Tzal: Clothes will be harder to steal?
[02:14] Wol Euler: and that may be enough to kill it, because copybotters are by definition lazy and/or untalented people
[02:14] Alessa Tzal: Lazy untalented but smart :p
[02:14] Wol Euler: yep, they would have to take that one texture and edit it to take out the skin, and separate it into the pieces
[02:14] Qt Core: ohh, i don't think, if there is a way to make money they'll work hard
[02:15] Alessa Tzal: True that QT
[02:15] Qt Core: (and some crazy one thinking doing it "just for fun" and making his finding public)
[02:17] Alessa Tzal: Does the thief's name not appear as owner of what they steal when they sell it tho?
[02:18] Wol Euler: dunno, I never knowingly bought stolen goods
[02:18] Wol Euler: and certainly never bought any look-alike goods
[02:18] Alessa Tzal: I guess thy would use disposable alts anyway
[02:18] Wol Euler: yep
[02:18] Qt Core: there surely is a laundering scheme in act (considering how easy is having multiple avs too)
[02:18] Alessa Tzal nods
[02:19] Alessa Tzal: Much like grievers
[02:19] Wol Euler nods.
[02:20] Alessa Tzal: It's amazing how many empty profiles there are if you do a random search
[02:20] Alessa Tzal: Makes you wonder how many *real* people are in SL
[02:20] Wol Euler: true, people don't use them since the web profile was introduced
[02:20] Wol Euler wonders what "real people" means
[02:21] Alessa Tzal: Well actual typers
[02:21] Alessa Tzal: So to speak
[02:21] Alessa Tzal: As opposed to avs
[02:21] Wol Euler: ah, I see
[02:21] Wol Euler: good question
[02:22] Wol Euler: I suppose the lab would have a vague idea, as they know the IP addresses
[02:22] Alessa Tzal: That's assuming they are genuine :p
[02:22] Qt Core: i hope they use something better than just IPs i come on the net with the same address of many others around here...
[02:23] Alessa Tzal: So much of the world is fake
[02:23] Alessa Tzal nods @ QT
[02:23] Wol Euler: actually yes, qt, quite right; they have the info that we gave when creating our accounts
[02:23] Qt Core: and some for of cookies i guess
[02:24] Wol Euler: still not foolproof since people could give alternate e-mail addresses and fake "real names"
[02:24] Qt Core: *form
[02:24] Qt Core: it would be probably best to monitor "inventory activity"
[02:25] Alessa Tzal: With warm milk
[02:25] Qt Core: and maybe the speed of creation of new things, copybotters should be pretty fast having the work already done
[02:25] Alessa Tzal: Maybe that's what Wollie needs to go to sleep...
[02:26] Wol Euler: more cookies! heheheh
[02:26] Alessa Tzal: Yah
[02:26] Wol Euler: actually no, I eat too many of them as it is
[02:26] Alessa Tzal podges your tum
[02:26] Wol Euler: /me's podgy tum wobbles podgily.
[02:26] Alessa Tzal: Aww :)
[02:27] Wol Euler: anyway, m'dears, I have to start getting ready for work
[02:27] Qt Core: speaking of food.. i have to go cooking some
[02:27] Alessa Tzal: Hmm
[02:27] Wol Euler: I'm going to miss the guardian session, and also Aph's talk
[02:27] Alessa Tzal: Oh bumsy
[02:27] Wol Euler: happy kitchens, qt!
[02:27] Alessa Tzal: Cook well QT
[02:27] Alessa Tzal: easy on the pasta
[02:27] Qt Core: no pasta today, maybe a risotto ;-)
[02:28] Wol Euler: mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
[02:28] Alessa Tzal: Aha
[02:28] Alessa Tzal: Lots of tomato?
[02:28] Qt Core: no, rice, probably yellow with saffron (Milan style)
[02:29] Alessa Tzal: ooh
[02:29] Wol Euler: mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!
[02:29] Qt Core: going before you ask for some ;-)
[02:29] Wol Euler: ha!
[02:29] Wol Euler: bye qt, take care
[02:29] Alessa Tzal: Have a glass or two with it :)
[02:29] Qt Core: ciao
[02:29] Alessa Tzal: Ciao
[02:29] Wol Euler: and bye alessa, enjoy the day
[02:29] Alessa Tzal: C ya Wollie
