Wol Euler was guardian and commenter for this session.

    Wol Euler: hallo bert
Bertram Jacobus: heyy und guten morgen :-)
    Wol Euler lächelt
Bertram Jacobus: müssen wir nicht englisch schreiben hier ? ;-)
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Wol Euler: interesting t-shirt: a rainbow zebra?
Bertram Jacobus: yess ! it was from a designer shop, quite expensive, but i found it worth it's price ... :-)
    Wol Euler: absolutely
Bertram Jacobus: may be it was on a japanese sim - they sometimes have very special things ...
    Wol Euler: oh yes
Bertram Jacobus: i wasn't very often in such regions yet ...
Wol Euler: there is definitely something special about japanese designers and their shops
    Bertram Jacobus: yeah :-)
Wol Euler: they have an eye for fine detail and clever ideas
    Bertram Jacobus: yeah ! :-)
    Bertram Jacobus: heheheh :o)
Bertram Jacobus: sounds like a demons laugh doesn't it ? : heheheh :o)
Wol Euler: I've been talking (e-mail) to Pema about something (somebody) he mentioned in Nova Scotia, which interested me and which we might take as a starting point for our retreat.
    Wol Euler: Namkhai Norbu
Bertram Jacobus: namkhai norbu ? :-)
    Bertram Jacobus: ah yes
Bertram Jacobus: i read it incorrectly - fine !
Wol Euler: let me check Pema's mail
Wol Euler: ah, you know him?
    Bertram Jacobus: yess
    Bertram Jacobus: a bit
Bertram Jacobus: have some friends who like him
    Bertram Jacobus: very much
    --BELL--

An old friend drops by again.
    Bertram Jacobus: hi roger :-)
    Wol Euler: hello roger
    Roger Ormenthal: Hi
Bertram Jacobus: if you like, take a seat with us (?) :-)
Wol Euler: you've been here before, haven't you? I think I remember your name
    Roger Ormenthal: thx
    Roger Ormenthal: y
    Roger Ormenthal: still rezzing
Bertram Jacobus: ooh - you have q quite intersting and so to say fitting text in your profile ! :-)
Bertram Jacobus: for here ... ;-9
    Roger Ormenthal: :)
Bertram Jacobus: oops - the ugly nine again - sry
Bertram Jacobus: sometimes moving helps with rezzing
Bertram Jacobus: only a little can be enough
Bertram Jacobus: a matter of principle, not amount ;-)
Roger Ormenthal: Is there a topic?
Bertram Jacobus: and sometimes it needs patience i think , especially in chats ...
Bertram Jacobus: to me - topics often occure and disappear again with time and circumstances, every moment, with persons especially ...
Bertram Jacobus: we started to mention namkhai norbu, as topic for our first life retrat, beginning next week, but i am not sure, whether that would be interesting for you (?)
Bertram Jacobus: or do you have someting which is in your mind and heart ? a topic i mean ?

There followed a rather long pause during which I realized that I'd lost sight of Roger.
Wol Euler: do you see roger, bert? he's become invisible to me
Bertram Jacobus: oh. yes. i still see him but
Bertram Jacobus: that must not mean that he is still with us. seemingly not . ah - now he writes ! lol
Roger Ormenthal: I don't have a particular topic in mind, and I also have all topics in mind.
Bertram Jacobus: hi qt ! :-)
    Qt Core: Hi all!
    Wol Euler: hello qt
Wol Euler: roger, could you rebake for me please? Ctrl-Alt-R
Bertram Jacobus: all topics - that is uncredible much ! ;-)
    Roger Ormenthal: rebake?
    Wol Euler: Ctrl-Alt-R
Qt Core: agree with roger, the problem isn't having a topic, but choosing only one :-)
Roger Ormenthal: I'm on Mac, no Alt.
Wol Euler: causes your viewer to regenerate your appearance and upload it to the server, which should make you visible to me
Wol Euler: yes there is. Between "ctrl" and the apple key
    Qt Core: Advanced->rebake
    Roger Ormenthal: Where is Advanced?
Wol Euler: just use the keyboard shortcut :)
Wol Euler: you get the Advanced menu by Ctrl-Alt-D
Wol Euler: anyway, it's just optics, and just my viewer. Onwards.
    Roger Ormenthal: Any difference?
    --BELL--
Wol Euler: no, but apparently that's life :)
    Wol Euler: thanks for trying.
Wol Euler: What shall we talk about?
Roger Ormenthal: If I'm a light blob, perhaps that's my real nature.
Wol Euler: you aren't even that for me, Roger: completely invisible :)
Roger Ormenthal: A voice from the void.
    Wol Euler grins.
Roger Ormenthal: Any topic is fine.

Roger suggests astronomy, as QT joins us.
Roger Ormenthal: The new earth-like planet that was just found.
    Qt Core: ;-)
Qt Core: it has an interesting feature : it is locked toward its star like the moon with the earth
Roger Ormenthal: They speculate that life must almost certainly be there. It's warm enough for liquid water to exist.
Wol Euler: so it has no day/night cycle?
Roger Ormenthal: I think life on other worlds is probably more the rule than the exception.
    Wol Euler agrees
Qt Core: exactly, it will be interesting to see how lofde would organize itself with rest/activity cycles
Qt Core: lofde=life... how i could write that ?
Roger Ormenthal: And - does it use DNA - and if so, do we share similar proteins, or is it all radically different.
Wol Euler: and also with temperature and geography. There would be enormous differences in temperature between the halves
Wol Euler: and it would have very different weather systems: probably no jetstream
Roger Ormenthal: They say life could exist on the boundary between the hot and cold sides.
    Wol Euler: probably no seasons
Qt Core: the night side probably unhabitalbe, always dark, no energy (maybe bacteria around vulcans
    Qt Core: but nothing bigger
Roger Ormenthal: Life exists here at dark sea vents.
    Wol Euler: I wonder ...
Wol Euler: I was thinking of those, roger, yes.
Wol Euler: what's the temperature at the bottom of the sea?
Roger Ormenthal: And bacteria thrive under frozen arctic ice.
Qt Core: alalways loved that, bert
    Qt Core: never checked :)
    Bertram Jacobus: :-)
Roger Ormenthal: Don't know ocean bottom temps, but in some places, where there are magma pools, it can be warm.
    Wol Euler: fascinating.
    Wol Euler: phone
Roger Ormenthal: Life is also thought to possibly exist under the ice of the moon Europa orbiting Jupiter.

Would beings which evolved in different environments have different senses?
Qt Core: thinking about eyes... not having to be able to see in the dark maybe they'll be able to see a wider (on the short side) of the spectrum
Roger Ormenthal: ...in a liquid ocean, warmed by tidal gravitational forces on the moon.
Roger Ormenthal: I heard that in absolute darkness as conventionally conceived, cavers can see after acclimation by the infrared emissions of cave walls.
    --BELL--
Bertram Jacobus: i think, our senses are so special : imagine we wouldn't have them - ho wto imagine how such could be ? smelling, seeing, hearing etc. - so : how unimaginable may other possible "senses" be ?! ...
Bertram Jacobus: and other life forms as well
Qt Core: just try to remember when you are deproved of smell by a cold
Roger Ormenthal: True, our senses are specific and limited. We see a tiny portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Imagine if we could see radio waves, x-rays, etc.
Qt Core: but still you know that smells are out there
    Wol Euler: back
Bertram Jacobus: but you had an impression about it before qt - what if you never had had such ?
Roger Ormenthal: People with synesthesia can see smells, taste colors, etc.
Roger Ormenthal: I must now sleep - and sense dreams. Goodnight to all!
Qt Core: would you like a gps enabled direction sixth sense ?
    Wol Euler: goodnight roger
Qt Core: in another article someone had it always buzzing toward north so he got a compass like sixth sense
Qt Core: i hate when my hands keep typing after i stopped
    Wol Euler: yeah
Qt Core: (and i have to write something to make them stop)
Bertram Jacobus: sry - i'll quit - got a visitor - see you later and ty for the talk ! ...
    Qt Core: bye, have fun
Wol Euler: bye bert, enjoy the day
Bertram Jacobus: ty again both ! :-)
Wol Euler: I have to go too, that was the office calling me in early.
    Qt Core: nice....
    Wol Euler: well :)
Wol Euler: it's the price of having a week off
Wol Euler: ciao qt, have a nice day
Qt Core: always better than NOT having an office that could call
    Wol Euler: yep :)
