A mermaid in the Crooked House Being Puzzled exhibit
Greetings
Eden Haiku: Good morning Bruce :) How are you?
Bruce Mowbray: Good morning, Eden.
Bruce Mowbray: I'm sort of like the weather today -- not too bright.
Bruce Mowbray: How are you?
Eden Haiku: Oh, sorry to hear that. What is going on?
Eden Haiku: I'm fine, the sun is out today, it lifts the spirit ;)
Bruce Mowbray: Oh -- nothing important, really. I'm just trying to get motivated to take on several projects today -- mostly things to get ready for winter.
Bruce Mowbray: Glad to hear you have sun. . .
Bruce Mowbray: We're overcast, rainy, and gloomy here.
Bruce Mowbray: but it will pass. . .
Eden Haiku: Oh, I see, the feeling of being overwhelmed by things to do...
Bruce Mowbray: I just need to get out there and do some things - - - You know, preps for cold weather stuff.
Bruce Mowbray: yep, I guess that's what it's about.
Eden Haiku: Yes, I imagine, on a farm...
Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Has it gotten cold in Canada yet?
Eden Haiku: Your trip in New York City seemed to have been fun. Loved the Metropolitan Museum picture you posted in your report. And the report of course!
Bertram Jacobus: hey eden and bruce ! :-)
Eden Haiku: Hello Bertram!
Bruce Mowbray: Oh yes -- we had a blast in the city. . . We arrived back one week ago today.
Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Bert.
Eden Haiku: It is starting to get a bit cold, not real cold yet. The colors are a wonder already.
Swimming in the mermaid avatar animation I got from Qt's exhibit in Being Puzzled
Eden Haiku: I missed the Being Puzzled Session yesterday but went to see the exhibits Saturday, it's wonderful!
Bertram Jacobus: very special clothing eden - is it from a mermaid ? :-)
Bruce Mowbray: I agree, Eden.
Eden Haiku: Look at what I can do now, Blub will recognize me...
Bruce Mowbray: Blub wonders if he's related somehow to Eden.
Bertram Jacobus: hehe - an aquanaut !? :-)
Bruce Mowbray: VERY impressive, Eden.
Eden Haiku: Blub must be a merman yes :)
Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bertram Jacobus: lol giggle :-)
Bertram Jacobus: what do they do at the puzzles meetings ?
Eden Haiku: Got this mermaid avatar at the TeleOctoscope of QT exhibit :)
Bertram Jacobus: nice ... :-)
Eden Haiku: You can fly, swim, go under the water, it's really very interactive.
Bertram Jacobus: whaow cool
Eden Haiku: The meeting is online in the wiki. Let me find it...
Bertram Jacobus: ah yes. but don't you have impressions by yourself, expectations, suggests perhaps also plz ?
Bertram Jacobus: now comes bleu . she will be able to tell me or us :-)
Eden Haiku: I also loved Riddle's Crooked House. He didn't make it but the SL exhibit is a kind of dream come true for him I gathered. Very beautiful place... and puzzling too. :))
Bertram Jacobus: hey bleu ! :-)
Bleu Oleander: hi everyone :)
Bertram Jacobus: i copy a question from before :
Bruce Mowbray: Good day, Bleu.
Eden Haiku: Hey Bleu !
Dancing at TeleOctoscope
Bertram is puzzled about the Being Puzzled meeting
Bertram Jacobus: Bertram Jacobus: what do they do at the puzzles meetings ?
Bleu Oleander: a question for me!
Bertram Jacobus: yes plz !
Eden Haiku: I was telling Bruce and Bertram how much I enjoyed the Being Puzzled exhibit ;)
Bleu Oleander: the artists talk about their ideas
Bleu Oleander: how they created their photos
Bertram Jacobus: ahhh
Bleu Oleander: what inspired them
Bertram Jacobus: okay - ty ! :-)
Bleu Oleander: Eden you are all in "Blue" today ... very nice
--BELL--
Bertram Jacobus: and what means being puzzled ? that were the photos "about time" - right ?
Bertram Jacobus: oops - sry
Eden Haiku: Yes, look Bleu, it's from the TeleOctoscope exhibit from Qt...
Eden Haiku: Oups...
Bleu Oleander: yes, I went there too!
Bleu Oleander: very cool!
Bleu Oleander: I know the artist
Bleu Oleander: I want her to do a salon
Eden Haiku: Loved Riddle's Crooked House too.
Bleu Oleander: yes, me too
Eden Haiku: Oh Maya Paris, she's the one who created the TeleOctoscope right?
Bertram Jacobus: i don't know that house (?) ...
Bleu Oleander: yes
Eden Haiku: And your Rubik Cube is still fascinating of course!
Bleu Oleander: take the notecards from each photo Bert and many of them have landmarks
Bertram Jacobus: ah ok.
Bleu Oleander: ty Eden!
Eden Haiku: I like a question you asked at the session (I wasn't home at that time but read the session afterwards).
Bertram Jacobus: yes. the cube is wonderful. with all our pab faces ? :-)
Bleu Oleander: ty!
Bleu Oleander: what question?
Zen's flowing river
Eden Haiku: Question was: "how was it different from using words?"
Bleu Oleander: oh yes!
Bertram Jacobus: hey zen again ! :-)
Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Zen.
Bleu Oleander: hi Zen
Eden Haiku: It is a question that could lead us very deep...
Zen Arado: Hi everyone
Bleu Oleander: yes, into many of the arts
Eden Haiku: hello Zen ;) Loved your river!
Eden Haiku: I thought your exhibit was so "zen" Zen!
Bleu Oleander: very clever Zen .... and a nice use of objects already in your inventory
Zen Arado: thanks Eden
Bleu Oleander: simplicity is always a good strategy for me in art
Eden Haiku: Yes the explanation was amazing too. I thought it was some cool device from Viewer 2. And it was so simple. Like a stroke on a canvas by a zen artist!
Bleu Oleander: exactly Eden
Zen Arado: blushes from all the praise
Bertram Jacobus: i have a very ambivalent view on art i must admit : sometimes i think : how nice ! and sometimes i think : aren't there much more important tasks to do for us in the universe ? ...
Zen Arado: it took me all of half an hour
Eden Haiku: I found your "Rauschenberg" "Rest in presence" white posting in the Time reports so compelling Bleu :)
Bleu Oleander: communication is a very important task .... no matter what medium you choose
Eden Haiku: Art is the most important thing I think :)
Bleu Oleander: artists have been exploring these ideas for a long long time
Zen Arado: it's hard to decide what's important' in life
Bleu Oleander: true .... important to each person's life
Eden Haiku: Life is an art.
Zen Arado: food and clothing
Bertram Jacobus: values ?
Zen Arado: not much else..
Eden Haiku: Beauty.
Bleu Oleander: values of course
Bertram Jacobus: love ?
Bleu Oleander: can be expressed through art
Eden Haiku: Could be in the simplest little things.
Bertram Jacobus: that would be great and i would appreciate such bleu ! for sure ... ;-)
Bleu Oleander: can communicate when words are hard to say
Artists of Being musing about the nature of art
Zen Arado: Hi Pema :)
Bleu Oleander: hi Pema
Bertram Jacobus: and hey pema ! unusual time for taking part here for you ! (?) :-)
Eden Haiku: Hi Pema:)
Pema Pera: Hi Bert, Zen, Bruce, Bleu, Eden!
Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Pema.
Eden Haiku: We have been talking about the Being Puzzled exhibit.
Bertram Jacobus: nice view blue on it ...
Pema Pera: oh, it's a bit late alright, about midnight here in Japan
Bleu Oleander: art as a way to express ideas and communicate
Bertram Jacobus: bleu sry lol :o)
Pema Pera: sorry I couldn't be there for the Puzzled meeting!
Eden Haiku: As a way of interacting also
Zen Arado: not sure what art is about
Eden Haiku: hehe
Bertram Jacobus: may be about all ?
Pema Pera: life!
Bleu Oleander: some wonderful art pieces ..... great ideas
Zen Arado: many different things
Bleu Oleander: yes! life
Bleu Oleander: way of expressing
--BELL--
Zen Arado: ideas about life?
Pema Pera: have you already planned a follow up Art event, Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: I have some ideas!
Pema Pera cups his hands behind his ears
Bleu Oleander: using a slightly different approach next time .... you'll have to wait :)
Eden Haiku: giggles
Pema Pera trying to be patient
Bertram Jacobus: hi yaku ! :-)
Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Yaku.
Eden Haiku: Yakuzza :)))
Zen Arado: Hi Yaku
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
Bleu Oleander: perhaps next time I will take some proposals for a "guest curator"
Pema Pera: hi Yaku!
Bleu Oleander: hi Yaku
Pema Pera: good idea, Bleu, you'll make us all Artists of Being!
Bleu Oleander: that's my idea :)
Eden Haiku: Bertram is creating a cube behind our backs hehe
Bleu Oleander: see, he's inspired already
Eden Haiku: making it grey, now with texture!
Eden Haiku: Oh what is it, a dolls house?
Bertram Jacobus: yes - a friend of mine - artist - made this : it's my last flat (!) - you can even stretch the cube to see it more precisely ... lol
Eden Haiku: Very nice Bertram! [forgot to take a snapshot of it...]
Bleu Oleander: nice Bert
Bertram Jacobus: hehe. i found it ... quite interesting. and he's a really nice friend
Eden Haiku: Oh I see it very well now!
Bertram Jacobus: often helps me to understand art a bit better ...
Bleu Oleander: I understand art by doing it .... find it helps
Bertram Jacobus: and hello edwnly ! ;-)
Pema Pera: Hi Edwnly!
Zen Arado: Hi Edwynly
Bleu Oleander: hi Edwnly
Bertram Jacobus: i'm not talented in creative arts - more in music ...
Bleu Oleander: music is very expressive
Zen Arado: are you sure Bert?
Bleu Oleander: never know till you try :)
Eden Haiku: I would love to work with someone for the next project. It's much more fun to cooperate. Would you like to work with me Bertram?
Self-criticism takes away the joy, the movement, the being
Bertram Jacobus: yes zen. i know, one can learn and train, but talent seems to me to be another thing, no?
Zen Arado: always how people reach such definite judgements about themselves :)
Bertram Jacobus: i tried. therefore i know ! lol :o)
Bleu Oleander: Eden, put a proposal together for the next project [not sure I have time hehe]
Pema Pera: clap clap clap !!!
Eden Haiku: Synergy can carry us much further even when we are in the dark...
Bertram Jacobus: oops - i'm not sure whether i could give enough time for such eden - sry ... although the suggestion is really kind
Bleu Oleander: young children just make art ... never ask if they can do it .... somehow we lose that confidence
Zen Arado: yes -we get too critical
Bertram Jacobus: is it really bad to be critical ? isn't that also possible in a good way ?
Bertram Jacobus: bah - so many typos again - sry plz [see Bertram, they disappeared!]
Zen Arado: dropping that critical mind and allowing creativity to blossom forth
Eden Haiku: Yes, I understand Bertram. That's my concern too. I have to be careful with my enthusiasm :)
Bertram Jacobus: :-)
Pema Pera: well, I'll have to get going, almost midnight here -- just wanted to say hi and show my face :-)
Zen Arado: you can be critical at the end
Eden Haiku: Bye Pema :)
Bleu Oleander: bye Pema :)
Bruce Mowbray: Be well, Pema.
Zen Arado: nite Pema
Bruce Mowbray: Thank you.
Bertram Jacobus: bye pema - have a good time ! *wave*
Pema Pera: nice to see you all again!
Pema Pera: bfn
Zen Arado: but I have this problem too
Eden Haiku: Bertram is writing a novel it seems :)
Bertram Jacobus: but yesterday only i had an example for that : there were two samba groups near by my house (here was a big marathon in my town) - and the one group was really really awesome (!!) - and the other one was not good i find - am i bad because of such distinctions ? or is it bad to divide in such ways ?
Bertram Jacobus: sry. yes lol
Bertram Jacobus: appreciated pema's face ! :-)
Eden Haiku: Was joking Bert. Knowing what you like best is just natural.
--BELL--
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye pema
Zen Arado: maybe if we are too critical and make too many distinctions - but don't know where you draw the line
Eden Haiku: It is different than being self-critical.
Eden Haiku: Self-critical takes away the joy, the movement, the being.
Bertram Jacobus: nice point zen ! buddha said : the path in the middle would be best ... :-)
Zen Arado: you can kill enjoyment if you are too critical
Bertram Jacobus: so let's draw also the line in the middle ? ;o)
Eden Haiku: Knowing what you like is you choosing according to your taste.
A little bit of venting about recent movies
Zen Arado: I have to suspend criticism if I watch modern movies
Zen Arado: just accept it as fun
Eden Haiku: oh Zen, I now understand your comments about "Inception" went to see it finally. Disliked it intensely.
Zen Arado: plots are so formulaic and similar
Eden Haiku: So many firearms and killings. So loud and so "obvious".
Bleu Oleander: you can appreciate the artist and their effort without liking their art
Zen Arado: maybe I was too critical :)
Bertram Jacobus: great view bleu
Zen Arado: thinking about that Bleu...
Eden Haiku: Yes, that is another level of appreciation Bleu, I agree.
Zen Arado: feel that way about Picasso
Bleu Oleander: art speaks to the observer in different ways
Eden Haiku: But it does not apply for Hollywood movies for me :)
Bleu Oleander: Hollywood is another story
Eden Haiku: Firearms lobby story, money stories...
Bleu Oleander: not sure if you can call it art
Zen Arado: but what is the purpose of those movies? Isn't it just escapism?
Eden Haiku: Money is their purpose I would think.
Zen Arado: :)
Bleu Oleander: some films are definitely art to me and some yes, Eden, just for the money
Zen Arado: well - I enjoyed avatar [I did too! "Avatar" was way less violent]
Zen Arado: even though it made a lot of money
Zen Arado: :)
Bleu Oleander: art can make money
Bleu Oleander: and that's nice if it happens
Eden Haiku: Also saw "Eat Pray Love". Compared to the book it is very much watered-down, it lacks the luster and the good laughs from the great book.
Bleu Oleander: that's what I have heard
Zen Arado: trying to read that book
Bleu Oleander: so will miss that one :)
Zen Arado: it's a bit too girlie for me
Eden Haiku: The film is certainly very very girlie...
Zen Arado: but will try again
Bleu Oleander: must get going ... nice to see you all :)
Zen Arado: suspend my critical faculty...
Zen Arado: bye Bleu
Bruce Mowbray: I need to get to my farm projects.
Bleu Oleander: bye everyone
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks, everyone. and have a happy day.
Eden Haiku: Bye Bleu. I have to leave early today also. Nice seeing you all...
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye bleu, bruce
Zen Arado: ok time to go for me too then
Zen Arado: bye all
Eden Haiku: Bye Zen, Bertram.
Bertram Jacobus: bye all leaving people !
Bertram Jacobus: was distracted sry ... :o)
Eden Haiku: Bye Bertram!
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, i also have my sister in the background whom was distracting me a little
Yakuzza Lethecus: take care bertram
Bertram Jacobus: hehe . i try to ty
