    Agatha Macbeth: Yay
Pema Pera: Jupiter brightly in the South
Pema Pera: a slight rainbow around the moon
Aphrodite Macbain: when do the clocks go back?
Alfred Kelberry: can you actually see stars in tokyo? :)
Pema Pera: blue insight red at the edges
Bertram Jacobus: here in cologne afternoon 4 pm :-)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Pema Pera: a few, Alfred
Agatha Macbeth: Wol has been held up at the office in RL btw, will be with us as soon as poss
Bertram Jacobus: hy bruce ! :-)
Pema Pera: I'm in a "monk bar" now in Tokyo
    Pema Pera: called "Vowz Bar"
    Bertram Jacobus: whaow
Pema Pera: which is a play on words:
Aphrodite Macbain: what's a monk bar?
    Agatha Macbeth: Hi Bruce
Alfred Kelberry: lots of drunk monks around? :)
Pema Pera: "vowz" sounds like "bohzu" for Japanese ears
Eos Amaterasu: a monkey with no I?
Pema Pera: "bohzu" means monk in Japanese
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Eos
    Aphrodite Macbain: an ear bar?
Pema Pera: so we all vow to really enjoy our drinks :-)
    Aphrodite Macbain: hello Bruce
Pema Pera: and I just explained why I'm asocial
Pema Pera: staring at my computer
    Pema Pera: hi Bruce!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, everyone.
Pema Pera: but given that meditation is a staple of this bar, it's quite okay :-)
    Bruce Mowbray listens.
    Agatha Macbeth: Sounds good
Pema Pera: people around me at the bar talk about Vipassana, and various Japanese forms of Buddhism
Pema Pera: quite unusual in a bar (in RL!)
Eliza Madrigal: quite unusual in RL at all...
    Lia Rikugun: wow :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Alfred Kelberry: oh, the earliest form of meditation
Eos Amaterasu: was common in Boulder & Berkeley in '70's :-)
    Bertram Jacobus: hi steven :-)
Aphrodite Macbain: Hi steve. the gang's all here. how nice
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Steve
    stevenaia Michinaga: morning
Bruce Mowbray Bruce remembers that from Berkeley in the 60's
    Bleu Oleander: hi steve
    Bruce Mowbray: hello, steve.
Alfred Kelberry: pema, i thought monks aren't allowed to drink
Aphrodite Macbain: just a taste of wine?
stevenaia Michinaga: thought they brewed only?
Agatha Macbeth: These are Japanese monks :)
Alfred Kelberry: spoiled japanese monks :)
Pema Pera: in Japan monks can marry, drink, be merry, anything goes
    Aphrodite Macbain: lucky monks
Agatha Macbeth: If they made chips, they'd be chip monks
    stevenaia Michinaga: woman monks too?
Pema Pera: Japan is not about concepts but about "real experience"
Eliza Madrigal: Oh sigh Agatha :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Or friars
    Pema Pera: oh yes, Steve!
    Aphrodite Macbain grins at Agatha
    Pema Pera: nuns too
    Eos Amaterasu: womonks
Pema Pera: but then again, German and Belgian monks also make good beer!
    Aphrodite Macbain: nonks
    Agatha Macbeth: Bless em
Pema Pera: but let's not focus on my small retreat here
Eliza Madrigal: my coffee is somehow feeling inappropriate to the moment...
Pema Pera: lets return to Germany!
    Eos Amaterasu: add Bailey's
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes!
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Pema Pera: hehehe @ Eliza: you *could* add whisky
    Aphrodite Macbain: tell us all!
    Pema Pera: eos?
Alfred Kelberry: *sips eliza's coffee while she's not looking* :)
    Pema Pera: hahaha
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Alf
Eos Amaterasu: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Retreats/Past_retreats/2010/2010-10_Stuttgart%2c_DE/Retreat_reports%3a_Stuttgart_2010/Stuttgart_retreat_talk_during_sessions collects Stuttgart & retreat talk from recent sessions
Alfred Kelberry: pema, woly was just saying last meeting how difficult it is to adjust to "real" life after retreat :)
    Eos Amaterasu: (for l8tr)
Alfred Kelberry: i can sense some clinging in you as well :)
Pema Pera: making shifts is hard, yes
Aphrodite Macbain: what makes the shift hard?
Pema Pera: but practice helps: the more we do it, the easier it gets
    --BELL--
Eos Amaterasu: this could be continuation of that
    Pema Pera: yes
    Pema Pera: yeah, Wol !!!
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Wol :))
    Eos Amaterasu: classic Wol!
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Wol :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Wol
Agatha Macbeth: Did you run all the way home?
Wol Euler: hello everyone, sorry I'm late
Alfred Kelberry: woly :) we were just talking about you :)
    Wol Euler: yep :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
Wol Euler: which at my advanced age is quite an achievement.
Bertram Jacobus: heyy wol ... :-)
Pema Pera: so we accumulated so many questions for you, Wol !
    Lia Rikugun: heyhey wol!
    Wol Euler grins and waves.
Agatha Macbeth: Not to say potentially fatal...
Alfred Kelberry: glad your working saturday is over :)
Eos Amaterasu: I must say Wol lives in a beautiful city
    Wol Euler beans
    Wol Euler: *beams
    Agatha Macbeth: Beans?
    Pema Pera: hahaha
Wol Euler: freudian slip: haven't had lunch yet
    Agatha Macbeth grins
Pema Pera: and an even more beautiful country side!
Aphrodite Macbain: which city is that?
Eos Amaterasu: yes, retreat locale was gorgeous
Wol Euler: Stuttgart, in the south of Germany
    Aphrodite Macbain: Oh Stuttgart
    Pema Pera: lovely city
    Alfred Kelberry: porsche city
    Wol Euler: and mercedes
Bertram Jacobus: hey fefonz ! :-)
    Agatha Macbeth: Va va voom
Wol Euler: and a quarter of airbus
Wol Euler: and ibm europe ...
    Alfred Kelberry: fef :)
    Lia Rikugun: heyhey fefonz
    Wol Euler: hello fef
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Fef.
Eos Amaterasu: a stag on top of a prominent building
    Agatha Macbeth: Hi Fonzie
    Fefonz Quan: Hello Pabonauts :)
    Wol Euler laughs.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Fefonz
    Bleu Oleander: hi Fef
Alfred Kelberry: pabonauts - i like that :)
    Pema Pera: hi Fef!
    Agatha Macbeth: PaBonuts
    Lia Rikugun: :)
Eos Amaterasu: retreat felt quite contained - six of us in a room with high windows, light
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Fef. I've been wanting to ask you -- In israel, does time move from right to left?
    Aphrodite Macbain: yum!
Alfred Kelberry: let's jump into the pond and naut around :)
Aphrodite Macbain: how did you decide on the agenda?
Eos Amaterasu: rest, and then whatever arises is it
Aphrodite Macbain: did you have an objective?
Fefonz Quan: (for some it moves backward - tyhey live 3000 years ago ;))
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Aphrodite Macbain sits waiting patiently
Aphrodite Macbain: chugging back her coffee
Pema Pera: Wol, would you like to say more about the retreat?
    Wol Euler: well :)
Pema Pera: you did such a great job in setting up everything
Wol Euler: I've already said an awful lot about it in various places and ways
    Pema Pera: guiding us
    Aphrodite Macbain: please
    Agatha Macbeth: Say more :))
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Were we not meeting today to talk about it?
Pema Pera: and lifting the tip of the veil in your writing -- so everything is thirsting for more!
Alfred Kelberry: fef, is the word "right" also considered "righteous" in israel culture?
Aphrodite Macbain thinks Pema is a poe
Pema Pera: pity that Yaku is not here
    Aphrodite Macbain: poet
Wol Euler: to answer your question, aphro, the objective was to investigate what Playing as Being might mean, and what effect that might have as we did it
    Agatha Macbeth: Edgar Allen
Pema Pera: poe like in pooh?
    Pema Pera: ah!
    Pema Pera: the telltale pema
    Agatha Macbeth: Poe sticks
Wol Euler: that was the core of the week, I guess; all the exercises and discussions revolved around that at a greater or lesser radius
Aphrodite Macbain: that was a huge project to take on!
    Pema Pera: but very natural
Eos Amaterasu: natural starting point is where we are
Pema Pera: and Yaku really jumped into the deep
Wol Euler: yes, pity about yaku. He had a great retreat (at least in our eyes, I hope he can see it too)
Eos Amaterasu: and what/where is that
Pema Pera: in a wonderfully brave and complete way
Wol Euler: pity he´s not here, I mean
Eos Amaterasu: Yes, very impressed with Yaku
Aphrodite Macbain: did you come to any exciting discoveries?
Wol Euler: individually I'm sure the ansswer is "yes", even if they are things that are hard to communicate
Aphrodite Macbain: Yaku is finding SL the best educational expereince he has had!
Wol Euler: I discovered how to sit zazen without hurting my knees. that was worth learning.
    Aphrodite Macbain: experience
Pema Pera: but the RL with him was great, with all of us holding up gentle mirrors for each other
Aphrodite Macbain: what is sitting zazen?
    Agatha Macbeth: Uncormfotable
Wol Euler: zazen is the formal name of the sitting meditation
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
    Aphrodite Macbain: oh
Aphrodite Macbain: that's why my knees hurt
Wol Euler: and yes, it can be uncomfortable
Fefonz Quan: (why pity about Yaku Wol?)
    Aphrodite Macbain: he's not here
Agatha Macbeth: At least you spelt it right
Wol Euler: because he had suc h a great retreat and isn't here to claim his boasting rights
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
Wol Euler: we all did, I believe and hope, but his was extremely so
Alfred Kelberry: wol, actually, you can stand if you want
Fefonz Quan: maybe he'll have a report session at another time :)
    Agatha Macbeth: In voice
Aphrodite Macbain: He's not on line
Alfred Kelberry: in any case, you have to be comfortable
Pema Pera: I find it really hard to convey the unspoken connections we tend to develop in a retreat
Aphrodite Macbain: I find sitting cross legged is fine- just the hero''s pose is hard on the knees
Pema Pera: from silly smiles to simple nodding to opening our hearts in sharing little stories. . . .
Alfred Kelberry: besides, traditional cross legged sitting is more suitable for eastern culture :)
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, I suppose it is hard to share that kind of thing with others
Eos Amaterasu: I felt there was a sense of being okay and comfortable with each other, which also allowed a bit of energy to explore the boxing in of that
    Wol Euler nods.
Alfred Kelberry: our limbs are not used to that
Fefonz Quan nods to Aphro, I have also hard time with the hero's pose
Eos Amaterasu: more allowing allows more energy & more allowing to just richly be
    Alfred Kelberry: allowing takes time
Pema Pera: allowing ourselves to be seen worked much better than trying to see -- the rest followed
Wol Euler: it helped that we had all been together at Malta, it was a familiar group setting
Fefonz Quan: would you say that the fact that the retreat was contained in a specific space, rather than traveling back to hotel like in malta, donates more focus and energy to the retreat?
    --BELL--
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm curious about the process. It's so hard to create a comfortable, safe space where these feelings can arise
Alfred Kelberry: pema and other retreat veterans, do you find that with each meeting time required to become open and comfortable is shrinking?
Agatha Macbeth: Ah, Yaku is online...
    Bertram Jacobus: hy yaku :-)
    Wol Euler: helllo yaku!
    Bleu Oleander: hi Yaku
    Lia Rikugun: heyhey yaku
Wol Euler: so glad you came
Yakuzza Lethecus: hi, sry for being late
Agatha Macbeth: And here he is!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Yaku.
    Aphrodite Macbain: good question Alfred
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Ya :)
Wol Euler: and yes, that is my experience alf.
Alfred Kelberry: aph, i think that all it takes are people with open minds
Aphrodite Macbain: Hello Yaku! are your ears burning?
    Alfred Kelberry: oi, yaku
Wol Euler: on the ohter hand, we had all known each ohter for years before we met :)
    Pema Pera: hey Yaku, yeah!
    Agatha Macbeth: True
Aphrodite Macbain: so your physicality made little difference?
Wol Euler: there were no surprises there
    Pema Pera: for sure, Aphro!
Wol Euler: the meat av is just another appearance
Alfred Kelberry: yes, but rl has different dynamics
Eos Amaterasu: I think that we knew each other beforehand in RL (via Malta etc), and there was SL continuity before and after RL retreat, makes a diff
Wol Euler: the voice, the soul, behind it is the same
Pema Pera: of course, the communication channel gets much wider in RL
Pema Pera: but the sense of the essence of the person was there already
Bruce Mowbray: Folks, I have a weekend guest whom I feel duty-bound to feed breakfast at this time. . .
    Wol Euler: :)
Bruce Mowbray: May a be well and happy this weekend.
Wol Euler: bye bruce, cook well
    Eos Amaterasu: Chow, Bruce!
    Bruce Mowbray: bye for now.
Agatha Macbeth: Take them to Macdonalds :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: give them coffeee!
Bruce Mowbray: (Yaku, you can have my cushion, if you like.
    Eos Amaterasu: Yikes, Lia poofed!
    Aphrodite Macbain: bye
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye.
    Fefonz Quan: Hey Yaku!
    Agatha Macbeth: C ya Brucie
Aphrodite Macbain: dont spill your coffee
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye bruce
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Pema Pera: Yaku, would you like to summarize, briefly, how the retreat was for you?
Eos Amaterasu: Fef, retreat "containers" have varied widely: I do think they have an effect, but we "roll" with the effect
    Agatha Macbeth: wb Lia
    Pema Pera: wb Lia!
    Wol Euler: wb lia
    Lia Rikugun: heyhey
Aphrodite Macbain: There you are Lia!
Yakuzza Lethecus: it was ,,really great and i played as yaku very monkylike"
    Wol Euler: :)
    Pema Pera: hahaha
    Pema Pera: YES!
Agatha Macbeth: Hey hey we're the monkeys
Pema Pera: we saw many Yakus . . .
Eos Amaterasu: notion of playing is very liberating
    Eos Amaterasu: looking at Eliza
Fefonz Quan: can you expand "monkeylike"?
Yakuzza Lethecus: oh, i usually go into everything with my beginnersmind
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Eos
    Alfred Kelberry: busy mind
Yakuzza Lethecus: then i have associations towards many different issues
Eliza Madrigal: quietly and innocently listening
Pema Pera: (the reason I'm here is because of a Monkee . . . Michael Nesmith introduced me to virtual worlds, and in half an hour I was hooked -- but that's just a side remark @ Aggers)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: ask alot of questions?
Yakuzza Lethecus: pab related and or not
Yakuzza Lethecus: how to bring these thoguths in check
Yakuzza Lethecus: that is also one of my main focus about pab
Agatha Macbeth: Mike Naismith's mother invented correction fluid you know
Pema Pera: (I know , yes, but sorry, don't want to interrupt Yaku)
    Agatha Macbeth: (Ok)
Yakuzza Lethecus: the exploration towards my perception of meditation and to understand the meaning of many words better is a tricky subject for me
Aphrodite Macbain chuckles at the thought. someoen who knows how to erase errors
Yakuzza Lethecus: even being seeing has been cleared a little further
Pema Pera: Yaku was a knight in shining armor, dealing with all of his monkeys all at the same time!
    Wol Euler nods.
Yakuzza Lethecus: though those little practices we did for 10/2 minutes or even while talking the last day
Pema Pera: we even started naming them
Aphrodite Macbain: did you fight them or get to know them better?
Alfred Kelberry: is it required to be seen on a retreat?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: Yes, but!
    Wol Euler: yeah
    Lia Rikugun: :)
Wol Euler: I htink we all had one of those
Pema Pera: yes, the "yes, but . . ." monkey
Pema Pera: he is one of the leaders of the pack
    Aphrodite Macbain: the thoughtful monkey?
Pema Pera: "yes, I see this new insight, but wait there are the following problems with acknowledging it and integrating it in my life"
    Pema Pera: "yes, but"
    Eos Amaterasu: colour commentary monkey
Wol Euler: or "yes I did actually manage to do something I thought I culdn't, but that doesn't count because"
    Wol Euler: critical monkeys
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey freud
    Aphrodite Macbain: self critical?
    Lia Rikugun: hello freud
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Freud :)
    Wol Euler: hello freud
Agatha Macbeth: O si yo Freud
    Aphrodite Macbain: welcome Freud
Pema Pera: (btw, my internet connection battery is running a bit low, I'm not 100% sure whether I can hang in here till the end of the hour -- if I poof that means I've lost my internet connection)
    Fefonz Quan: Hi Freud
    Pema Pera: jo Freud
Aphrodite Macbain: we won't take it personally tho we'll miss you Pema
    Freud Jungsten: osiyo
Pema Pera: Lia, would you like to add something?
    Pema Pera: :-) @ Aphro
    Lia Rikugun: hm
Lia Rikugun: I was looking for the 'I' during the retreat
Lia Rikugun: but didnt find it yet
Lia Rikugun: will tell you :)
    Pema Pera: great, Lia!
Pema Pera: not to find the "I" I mean
    Lia Rikugun: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Is there an "I"?
Eos Amaterasu: That's a highly personal question
Wol Euler: well, that's teh L$64000 question.
    --BELL--
Aphrodite Macbain: thought I'd ask it...
Alfred Kelberry: do you think if retreat accommodated say 20 people, it would not work?
Alfred Kelberry: *looks at the bell above*
Freud Jungsten: There are several studies out there that provide analysis on group size vs effectiveness with respect to group purpose and hierarchy.
Pema Pera: it would work differently, Alfred
Wol Euler: the advantage of a small group is that everyone can speak without it taking hours to get through a round
Aphrodite Macbain: I heard that 6 was the best number
Alfred Kelberry: freud, yes, 20 more devs would not complete a program faster :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: never liked the # 6. I'd prefer#5
Fefonz Quan: The California retreat (Aug 2009) had 12 participants and i didn't fell it lacked in any way
Alfred Kelberry: woly, it sounds like everyone is fighting to have a word :)
Aphrodite Macbain: did everyone get a chance to hear and be heard?
    Wol Euler: oh yes
Wol Euler: well, I htink so.
    Eos Amaterasu: In multiple ways
Wol Euler looks around at the others.
    Alfred Kelberry: thank you, fef
Eos Amaterasu: including by Being :-)
    Lia Rikugun: yes definitrly
Fefonz Quan: (though we also had Stim there and fighting for his words is totally not his faculty :)
Pema Pera: I think 20 would work perfectly too, but in a different sense of "perfect"
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Alfred Kelberry: how many guardians are there? :)
Aphrodite Macbain: in total or here?
    Alfred Kelberry: total
    Agatha Macbeth: Quite a few
Wol Euler: plus or minus three
    Eos Amaterasu: 62
    Alfred Kelberry: omg
    Wol Euler: (to aggers)
    Eos Amaterasu: (on the wiki)
    Alfred Kelberry: a lot :
Agatha Macbeth: Tho we never see many of them
Aphrodite Macbain: that's a lot to have in the same room
Alfred Kelberry: 62 participants would be more of a comic convention :)
    Pema Pera: would still work
Pema Pera: in a different way
Wol Euler: I don't think 62 would work well
    Agatha Macbeth: Two's company, 62's a crowd
Alfred Kelberry: yes, it would be fun
    Wol Euler: heh
Aphrodite Macbain: each playing our monkey roles
Pema Pera: everybody listening and being seen more than actively broadcasting
Alfred Kelberry: well, they'd break to small groups of 5-8 people
    Aphrodite Macbain: hmmm
Pema Pera: yet another option, yes
Aphrodite Macbain thinks she agrees with Alfred
Wol Euler: Bertram, I know I missed the beginning, but you've been quiet since I got here. What do you think of the retreat, now?
Alfred Kelberry: i can't see bruce
    Alfred Kelberry: ah, he left...
Agatha Macbeth: (Berti is afk me thinks)
    Wol Euler: pity
Bertram Jacobus: i wrote some about it already before wol - but to repaet and write it also here :
    Agatha Macbeth: No...
Bertram Jacobus: mostly for me awareness became a bit more intense or better available and
Bertram Jacobus: i saw that it is very much all including ...
    Bertram Jacobus: then ...
Bertram Jacobus: there are so many things, hard to describe -
Bertram Jacobus: a bit of the group feeling, pema also talked a bit about future plans ...
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: future plans?
    Fefonz Quan: future plans?
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Bertram Jacobus: and i was and am happy to hear that - that pab seems to be a perspective, will have a future as it seems -
    Bertram Jacobus: lol
Wol Euler: funny how that makes people#s ears perk up
    Bertram Jacobus: yes
Fefonz Quan: yes, the future looking mokey is a strong one
Pema Pera: oh, we planned our IPO for PaB . . . .
Aphrodite Macbain: Something we may be part of
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
    Alfred Kelberry: ipo?
Agatha Macbeth: What's an IPO Pem?
    Aphrodite Macbain: hippo?
    Pema Pera: initial public offering
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Wol Euler: Initial Public Offering, selling ourselves on the stock market
Pema Pera: isn't that what it is called?
    Aphrodite Macbain: what's that?
    Aphrodite Macbain: selling?
Wol Euler waves the "that was a joke" flag.
Fefonz Quan: then we should consider our options hehe :)
Aphrodite Macbain: to whom are we doing this offering?
Wol Euler waves the flag a little big harder.
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
    Agatha Macbeth: Mammon presumably
Eos Amaterasu: in a way at the retreat we sold the notion to ourselves that PaB really "works" (or plays :-)
Alfred Kelberry: pema's jokes are... funny :)
    Wol Euler: yes, right
Aphrodite Macbain sees the flag but is still curious about what prompted the expression
Pema Pera: just a joke, no deep meaning
Pema Pera: start-up companies live for the day of IPO
Aphrodite Macbain: one of my monkey at play I guess
Wol Euler: good thing Arch isn't here.
Wol Euler bites her tongue and rins.
    Wol Euler: *grins
Eos Amaterasu: & the feeling that we can be together without much agenda, really, but just to "be", including allowing ourselves to be ourselves, was very.... compelling, warming
Pema Pera: so when ears pricked up, I decided to throw the carrot :)
    Pema Pera: YES!
    Bertram Jacobus: (lol wol)
Pema Pera: we had no agenda at all
    --BELL--
Agatha Macbeth missed the point of the Arch joke
Wol Euler: yes, I loved the way that we filled our days sensibly and usefully without having an agenda.
Aphrodite Macbain has a carrot in her ear
Bleu Oleander: (slips out quietly .... bfn :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Why?
    Agatha Macbeth: Bye Bleu
    Wol Euler: bye bleu
    Alfred Kelberry: poof
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye bleu
    Aphrodite Macbain: bye bleu
Pema Pera: Well, I really should talk now with the monks, as I promised, after an hour -- and with the other customers as well, who have been eyeing me with great curiosity.
Pema Pera: So, see you all soon again!
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Agatha Macbeth: Not the monkeys
    stevenaia Michinaga: thx Pema
Wol Euler: bye pema, take care.
Eos Amaterasu: from monkeys to monks, bye Pema
Alfred Kelberry: um, frued? are you sitting on wol? :)
    Lia Rikugun: byebye
Aphrodite Macbain: by Pema- great to see you
    Agatha Macbeth: Bye Pem
Wol Euler: shush, it's ok :)
Pema Pera: thanks again, Wol and Eos, for organizing the retreat!
Alfred Kelberry: don't drink too much, pema :)
    Wol Euler: yvw
Eos Amaterasu: Freud slips up all the time
stevenaia Michinaga: next time invite them
Pema Pera: and all of the participants for joining us!
    Pema Pera: bfn
Bertram Jacobus: ok - i´ll leave too ...
Aphrodite Macbain: Seattle, Assisi, New Orleans
    Freud Jungsten smiles
Wol Euler: bye bert, take care
    Lia Rikugun: bye bertram
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye bert
    Bertram Jacobus: tyvm all *wave*
    Agatha Macbeth: _/!\_ Bert
Aphrodite Macbain slips away quiety to make breakfast
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye everyone who´s leaving
    Lia Rikugun: bye aphro
Alfred Kelberry: i like making breakfast
    Wol Euler: bye aphro
    Agatha Macbeth waves
Wol Euler: Alf, you had a question that I thought would have recurred by now, I'll ask it again on your behalf.
Wol Euler: [07:39] Alfred Kelberry: is it required to be seen on a retreat?
Alfred Kelberry: oh, stev! you look, um... lovely :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: thank you Alfred..smiles
Wol Euler: "letting yourself be seen" was the ... core say of several exercises that we did during the week
Wol Euler: it's a way of dropping yourself as a fixed concept
Wol Euler: because "you" is only fixed from the inside
Alfred Kelberry: yes, but... what if you're not willing or ready? can you just sit and observe?
Wol Euler: yes of course :)
    Alfred Kelberry: ok :)
Alfred Kelberry: this will work for me then :)
Wol Euler: but on the other hand: where else would you have a better time and place to take on something risky like that?
Wol Euler: isolated from anyone who might be critical of you /except you and your monkeys)
Wol Euler: and surrounded by trusted and well.-known friends
Alfred Kelberry: risky? is it really? :)
Wol Euler: all of whom are doing the same risky thing.
    Agatha Macbeth: Critical monkeys
Wol Euler: risky in the sense of frightening
    Wol Euler: as you said
    Alfred Kelberry: i didn't actually
    Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
Alfred Kelberry: i said not willing or ready
Fefonz Quan: strange, i get now messages that seem like they belong to a much earlier discussion... guess it's the lag kicking in
Eos Amaterasu: being authentic and open to myself can be risky
Alfred Kelberry: yes, fef. it happens.
Eos Amaterasu: monkeys are good distraction
Wol Euler: that's their function, they keep the mind from looking at itself too closely
Eos Amaterasu: they get really loud then :-)
    Wol Euler: yeah :)
Wol Euler: looks like Freud's connection failed again
Agatha Macbeth: At least she stopped typing
    Wol Euler: :)
Fefonz Quan: Alf, from my experience, risking being seen can be of the most liberating acttions of on'es life
Alfred Kelberry: woly, did you all spoke german?
Wol Euler: it is frightening and risky, yes, to look into yourself without filters, without the usual excuses and reasons that we give ourselves for waht we ahve done.
Wol Euler: and especially frightening then to tell the rest of the gorup what you saw!
Alfred Kelberry: yes, i know, fef :)
Wol Euler: five out of six could speak German, but the retreat was inEnglish
Lia Rikugun: (will go off too, nice to see you! byebye)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: take care lia
Wol Euler: bye lia, take care
    Eos Amaterasu: bye Lia!
    Agatha Macbeth: Bye Lia
Fefonz Quan: bybye Lia! take care, great seen you
Alfred Kelberry: i don't see it this way, woly. it's rather curious.
    Fefonz Quan: sdf
Eos Amaterasu: many of us are down on ourselves, and just sharing that is risky
Wol Euler: I heard you, fef, the lag is on your side only :)
Eos Amaterasu: but then sharing it opens it up
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
    Fefonz Quan: good :)
    Alfred Kelberry: hi, fef :)
Alfred Kelberry: inside we clear seeing
    Wol Euler listens
    --BELL--
Fefonz Quan: once you once see how it is without the barriers, you can realize the huge amount of energy we spend every minute to protect and hide ourselves
    Wol Euler: right
    Wol Euler: oops
    Alfred Kelberry: true, fef
Eos Amaterasu: Must leave - thanks for splendid session!
    Alfred Kelberry: yea, me too
    Wol Euler: thank you, eos.
Agatha Macbeth: Bye for now Eos
    Wol Euler: bye for now
Alfred Kelberry: thank you for the company
    Fefonz Quan: Bye Eos
Agatha Macbeth: Watch out for caribou
Wol Euler: bye alf, take care.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye everyone
    Fefonz Quan: bye Alf
    Wol Euler: bye yaku
    Agatha Macbeth: Bye yaku
    Agatha Macbeth: And Alf
Wol Euler: so, there you have it.
Wol Euler: that was the retreat that was.
    Fefonz Quan: ?
Agatha Macbeth: Or not as the case may be
Fefonz Quan: or a glimpse of the retreat that was
Agatha Macbeth: Have you had your dinner yet Wol?
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: words cannot express the etc etc etc
Fefonz Quan: Wol's too early for dinner
    Wol Euler: haven't had lunch
Agatha Macbeth: No, too late - that's the point :)
Wol Euler: going to go downtown and go shopping when we finish ere
    Fefonz Quan: ah' linner
    Wol Euler: buy some stuff.
    Wol Euler: heh
Agatha Macbeth: Easier to keep it in the fridge
Fefonz Quan: Bye Wol, and Bye Aphro
Wol Euler: bye fef, take care.
    Agatha Macbeth: Shalom Fonz
    Fefonz Quan: _/!\_
    Agatha Macbeth: Aphro?
    Fefonz Quan: (Agatha, sorry...
Agatha Macbeth: Well, we both have red hair I guess
    Wol Euler: :)
    Fefonz Quan: :-)
Wol Euler admires your crocodile print latex pants
Agatha Macbeth: Why thank you :p
    Wol Euler: :)
Agatha Macbeth: They're part of another outfit - I just changed the top
Wol Euler: in SL no species is endangered.
    Agatha Macbeth: Good!
Agatha Macbeth: If only RL were similar
    Wol Euler: yeah
Wol Euler: I say that often, in many senses
    Agatha Macbeth smiles
    Agatha Macbeth: Fracturing tonight?
    Wol Euler: sorta kinda myaybe
Wol Euler: noctis and beta are at a RL event cum protest thingy in Chicago
Wol Euler: so they won't be here
    Agatha Macbeth: :(
Wol Euler: no formal dance and no djs then, unless somebody volunteers to step up
Wol Euler: and the only ones who did that in the past are selcome in SL now
Agatha Macbeth: Couldn't Sen do it?
    Wol Euler: that's who I meant :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
    Agatha Macbeth: Duh
Wol Euler: she and pink have become recluses
Wol Euler: at least as far as fracture goes
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
Wol Euler: but ... the grotbox will be playing, the dances will work.
Wol Euler: so who knows ....
    Agatha Macbeth: You could DJ?
    Wol Euler: no
    Agatha Macbeth: Why?
Wol Euler: don't have access permission to take control of the broadcast
    Agatha Macbeth: Damn
Wol Euler: other than that, I could.
Agatha Macbeth: How many do then?
    Wol Euler: six or eight
    Wol Euler: maybe ten even
Agatha Macbeth: And none of them are available?
Wol Euler: no, wait, I'm counting avs :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Wol Euler: in RL bodies it's probably only six :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hm
Wol Euler: let's say that the event was known for a while and nobody volunteered to cover for N & B
    Agatha Macbeth: Bugger
    Wol Euler: yeah
Agatha Macbeth: Trouble is, it's a bit early for many of the Yanks i suppose
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: and the djs are all americans AFAIK
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Agatha Macbeth: Does Jube DJ?
    Wol Euler: no, just hostessing
Agatha Macbeth: Oh well, I'll see if you're online around 12.30 SLT
Agatha Macbeth: If you are I'll come along
Wol Euler: I'll definitnely be back in SL, only question is where and how much I'll be wearing :-P
    Agatha Macbeth: As always :p
    Wol Euler: :)
    Wol Euler: bye for now
Agatha Macbeth: Go and feed :)
    --BELL--
    Wol Euler: yeah
