The Guardian for this meeting was Adams Rubble. The comments are by Adams Rubble.
I made the opening of this session but had to leave halfway through.
Adams Rubble: Hello Alfred :)
Adams Rubble: Hello Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Adams :) you're here today...
Adams Rubble: Just for a brief time
Adams Rubble: I came to claim the log
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, okay.
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Adams Rubble: I am here from Milwaukee
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: Interestingly I forgot about the hour time difference and the PaB session is one hour earlier than I expected but it worked out well to get here
Eliza Madrigal: Sure to be an exciting day
Adams Rubble: This is the third and last day
Eliza Madrigal: Ohhh, so exciting week then?
Adams Rubble: yes, it has been interesting seeing ths skating up so close
Adams Rubble: they are very very fast :)
Eliza Madrigal: like a hockey game?
Adams Rubble: they go 35 mph
Adams Rubble: speedskating
Adams Rubble: Shani Davis and all
Adams Rubble: one of the two olympic training sites is in Milwaukee
Eliza Madrigal: :) I'm not too familiar with speedskating, but the whoosh of skates during a hockey game is something exhilharating...
Eliza Madrigal: so I imagine they sort of take you with them as they rush by...
Adams Rubble: lots of wooshing
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eliza Madrigal: love that feeling of being caught up
Adams Rubble: I was surprised at the number of little jobs that have to be done to make something like this ha[[en
Adams Rubble: happen
Adams Rubble: lots of volunteers who are dedicated to the sport
Adams Rubble: one of the interesting jobs are the people who put down the little cones between lanes
Eliza Madrigal: yes, dedicated to someone 'elses' dream but also the dream of that shared exhilaration....
Adams Rubble: they have to go up before the zamboni machine comes and then go down again
Eliza Madrigal smiles..yes like the folks who run for tennis balls
Adams Rubble: the people who do this are on speed skates themselves
Eliza Madrigal: oh, fun :)
Adams Rubble: they have a rhythm for the job, reaching into the basket and then putting down a cone, etc.
Adams Rubble: quite a little skill :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: as a teen I used to volunteer with a friend, to hand out water and such at races... loved the ones who would come by and say "just throw it on me"...
Adams Rubble: :)
Alfred Kelberry: oi, girls :)
Adams Rubble: the building is very cold, would not work here :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Alfred :)
Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Eliza Madrigal: yes I imagine not
Adams Rubble: Hello Alfred
Adams Rubble: It is about 40 degrees in the building with big blowers blowing it all around
Eliza Madrigal: how fun
Alfred Kelberry: lucky boxy alone with girls this morning :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Adams Rubble: they turn down the blowers for the 20 minute intervals while the zamboni machine is going around and you begin to think "Oh, it is not so cold"
Alfred Kelberry: sorry, got carried away in rl. missed quite a bit of chat...
Adams Rubble: Then as the race is about to resume suddenly they come on again :)
Eliza Madrigal: haha, thanks for sharing that sensation
Alfred Kelberry: 40 f?
Adams Rubble: It is nice to be in this nice warm pavilion (hehe)
Adams Rubble: yes, fahrenheit Allfred
Alfred Kelberry: ok, 4 c then
Adams Rubble: I am not good at converting
Alfred Kelberry: chilly :)
Alfred Kelberry: google is :)
Eliza Madrigal: The reverse is often true for me... feeling very hot here in FL so can be refreshing to sit on an SL snowy mountain top
Eliza Madrigal: TGFG
Adams Rubble: Ohh 4 degrees C sounds colder :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Alfred Kelberry: tgfg?
Eliza Madrigal: thank Goodness for google
Eliza Madrigal: @.@
Alfred Kelberry: oh, never heard this one :)
Eliza Madrigal: nor had I til just then :)
--BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: i'm a rare guest on a rink, but this summer i saw how a woman was putting cones for ice skating... kind of mesmerising :)
Adams Rubble: yes it is
Alfred Kelberry: i like the cool fresh air inside
Adams Rubble: :)
Alfred Kelberry: and body tight suits :)
Adams Rubble: It is helpful to move around a bit
Alfred Kelberry: yes, i was taking pics :)
Alfred Kelberry: *eats a cake*
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eliza Madrigal: Sorry so quiet this morning... feeling strange today :)
Alfred Kelberry: i like morning quietness
Eliza Madrigal: yes :)
Alfred Kelberry: and i feel comfy with you two and silence :)
Eliza Madrigal: Nice, thanks :) yes sharing silent space
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Alfred Kelberry: *sips tea*
Alfred Kelberry: oh, it's cool. i need to pour more :)
Eliza Madrigal: oatmeal is in its last stage... simmering
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Alfred Kelberry: on water or milk?
Eliza Madrigal: coffee brewing but I think I'll make tea...
Eliza Madrigal: water in this case, as better for my son
Alfred Kelberry: i thought milk is healthy for kids :)
Eliza Madrigal: suppose for most, yes :)
Alfred Kelberry: btw, oatmeal has to be cooked on low :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes
Adams Rubble: The silence has been nice
Alfred Kelberry: um, but there are different techniques :)
Adams Rubble: I am going to have to go now
Alfred Kelberry: aww... :(
Adams Rubble: Nice to see both of you :)
Eliza Madrigal: at the beginning fast and furious bowling... then settling into a long simmer...
Alfred Kelberry: *hugs adams*
Adams Rubble: I have the log
Eliza Madrigal: You too Adams :) Thanks and Have fun!
Adams Rubble: bye for now
Eliza Madrigal: boiling*
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Eliza Madrigal: haha... fast and furious bowling... maybe I do need coffee :)
Alfred Kelberry: oh, tea!... brb
--BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: meep-meep!
Alfred Kelberry: i like your glasses
Alfred Kelberry: but i told you that already :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes :) thank you
Eliza Madrigal: but I told you that already :)
Alfred Kelberry: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Alfred Kelberry: i think partly it's cause i'm wearing them as well :)
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: unusual glasses with no bridge...
Eliza Madrigal: in RL I always wanted to wear glasses... faked bad vision for a while so that I could...
Eliza Madrigal: then was given glasses... which came with headaches and I fessed up :)
Alfred Kelberry: ah, you mean boxy? i meant in rl actually :)
Eliza Madrigal: Ah :) yes, I did think you were talking about boxy
Alfred Kelberry: oh, headache is not good
Alfred Kelberry: my human av is more like me in this repsect
Eliza Madrigal: :) do you wear scarves i RL Alfred?
Eliza Madrigal: *in
Alfred Kelberry: yep
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: me too
Alfred Kelberry: not space invaders one, though :)
Eliza Madrigal: hehehe
Eliza Madrigal: and why not?
Alfred Kelberry: i haven't found one in rl :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: that's my reason for lots of things I do here... hehehe
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
Alfred Kelberry: do you go see shuttle launches?
Eliza Madrigal: Hi yakuzza :)
Alfred Kelberry: oh, yaku! :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: so close to cape canaveral eliza ?
Alfred Kelberry: nice to see you
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, shuttle launches are the frustration of my existence... moreso than hurricanes....
Eliza Madrigal: not close enough to go without 'planning' and hotel, etc
Alfred Kelberry: frustration?
Eliza Madrigal: yet each time we've tried, something has happened and we've not gotten to see
Eliza Madrigal: weather, etc
Alfred Kelberry: aww...
Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: sigh
Eliza Madrigal: I love roughly 4-5 hrs away... and well 'busy life' with various schedules...
Eliza Madrigal: *live
Eliza Madrigal: I can't type today
--BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: yes, not too close
Eliza Madrigal: and not too far either
Alfred Kelberry: maybe you're in love, eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: so that's why it is difficult
Eliza Madrigal: :) I'm always in love Alfred
Alfred Kelberry: yay! :)
Alfred Kelberry: i knew that :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Riddle, nice to see you
Yakuzza Lethecus: good morning riddle
Eliza Madrigal: Adams is at a speed skating competition this morning
Riddle Sideways: good morning all
Alfred Kelberry: love is a fuel for soul :)
Riddle Sideways: yes, I read Adams would not be here
Alfred Kelberry: riddle! :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: How is everything Riddle?
Riddle Sideways: I really dislike traveling
Me too Riddle but it is nice to be somewhere else once in a while. Too bad we can't just tp
Eliza Madrigal: Do you?
Eliza Madrigal: Where did you go?
Riddle Sideways: have decided
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Eliza Madrigal: maybe you should have gone by parachute :)
Riddle Sideways: air travel is not fun anymore
Alfred Kelberry: you mean security measures, etc?
Riddle Sideways: hours and hours of sitting
Eliza Madrigal: I love it... sometimes even love being cramped too slose to someone and navigating where to rest my arm...
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, hours and hours!? You must have gone somewhere interesting then
Riddle Sideways: that use to be fun
Alfred Kelberry: ah, long hours on board
Eliza Madrigal: and yes the hours and hours does make a big difference :)
Riddle Sideways: not that interesting
Yakuzza Lethecus: are there highspeedtrains in the US ?
Eliza Madrigal: alas
Riddle Sideways: get there and sit for more hours in meetings
Eliza Madrigal: ack
Riddle Sideways: no hi speed trains
Eliza Madrigal: Yakuzza, always 'talk' of highspeed rail
Riddle Sideways: few slow speed trains
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: So happy to be home then Riddle?
Riddle Sideways: yes, is so happy
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Alfred Kelberry: if you want high speed rail go to china :)
Alfred Kelberry: these guys are amazing
Eliza Madrigal: Adams was mentioning earlier, speedskaters rushing by...
Yakuzza Lethecus: and they have the technologie from germany/france/japan
Alfred Kelberry: left japan behind
Eliza Madrigal: yes?
Eliza Madrigal: I was so impressed with Japan's system...
Eliza Madrigal: sooooooo polite
Alfred Kelberry: :)
Eliza Madrigal: hopefully you can stay put for a while then RIddle...
Eliza Madrigal: and the next time you travel maybe for pleasure :)
Riddle Sideways: maybe
Riddle Sideways: after meeting people once, I can stay remote biz with them
Eliza Madrigal: Excellent
Eliza Madrigal: I suppose RL meetings are still very crucial
Riddle Sideways: not sure
Eliza Madrigal: for conveying some kind of trust maybe?
Alfred Kelberry: riddle, bring them to sl :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Riddle Sideways: maybe
Riddle Sideways: there are some biz oriented virtual worlds too
Eliza Madrigal: read an article this morning.... felt the guy was in a total blind spot but a few interesting points: http://www.thenewatlantis.com/public...ind-the-screen
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, as telepresence advances in its "presence" ability, i think rl meetings will be less of a critical moment
Eliza Madrigal: How will that happen Alf?
Riddle Sideways: thanks
Alfred Kelberry: besides, you pay for this "trust" a good amount of money - air tickets, hotels, etc
Yakuzza Lethecus: i wonder about the transition of the economy
Eliza Madrigal: yes, well if money doesn't circulate economy doesn't grow?
Yakuzza Lethecus: since it´s more an more information work and when ppl don´t have to meet nobody needs hotels/planes/congress centeres
Yakuzza Lethecus: there are fixed costs for those
Eliza Madrigal: yes me too Ya... Also, for me the internet creates more appreciation of the tactile and tangible...
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, they do either way
Eliza Madrigal: so think the author missed that especially... that perhaps there is purposefulness available that wasn't before
Eliza Madrigal: but I do wonder how the current way of business thrives in that :)
Riddle Sideways: most of the people I met did not need to be met
Alfred Kelberry: yaku, i think we see it happening already
Eliza Madrigal: hmm
Riddle Sideways: only the older CEO types
--BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: Time for the guardian session :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Luci :)
Lucinda Lavender: :) all
Lucinda Lavender: I came back in where I left last night...loss of internet
Alfred Kelberry: riddle, yaku? are you going?
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes
Alfred Kelberry: ok, see you then :)
Riddle Sideways: hi Omar
OMAR Ferrentino: hi Riddle
Riddle Sideways: sorry, I was just leaving
OMAR Ferrentino: its OK.. i was too :)
OMAR Ferrentino: c u next time ;)
