The Guardian for this meeting was Eos Amaterasu. After Eos left Calvino Rabeni claimed the log and did some editing.

Eos Amaterasu: Wow - it's Mick!
    Eos Amaterasu: and Roland
    Roland Maven: Hi Eos :)
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Roland, have you been to play as being before?
Eos Amaterasu: (I get to ask that of all appearances)
    Eos Amaterasu: HeloO0Oo!
Roland Maven: Yes thanks for asking
oO0Oo Resident: Hi Roland, Eos, Mickorod :)
Eos Amaterasu: Hey Mick, what's up, doc?
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Kit
    Kit Ciaco: Hey!
    oO0Oo Resident: and Kaboodle too!
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Kit Ciaco: Just waiting for the world to rez
    Eos Amaterasu: hi Kit
Kit Ciaco: I hate to sit in the pool accidentally!
    Kit Ciaco: LOL
Eos Amaterasu: sitting in limbo, waiting for the world to rez, (as in that reggae tune)
Kit Ciaco: LOL, Eos - that DOES sound like good reggae!!
Eos Amaterasu: #Egypt is waiting for its world to rez....
Roland Maven: it will rez soon!
Roland Maven: Once you give humans a tasts of the world - it's hard to stop
Eos Amaterasu: the egyptian people have created a special moment for themselves
Eos Amaterasu: an actual non-violent revolution
Eos Amaterasu: (although the final act has not been played)
oO0Oo Resident: the clasiic crisi/opportunity I ching situation
    Eos Amaterasu: yeah
Eos Amaterasu: and everybody has the opportunity to carry if off with dignity
oO0Oo Resident: may beings be free
Eos Amaterasu: "we are here now to bring our dignity back" - Egyptian "demonstrator"
oO0Oo Resident sits up a bit straighter
Eos Amaterasu: "Mubarak can go with dignity - but he has to go." - another demoer
Eos Amaterasu: this suggests a 90-second framing: "rest with dignity"
    oO0Oo Resident nods
oO0Oo Resident: tell me what framing means again Eos?
Eos Amaterasu: oh, I'm using it in the sense of using a short phrase or suggestion about how to explore, or be, in a pause
Eos Amaterasu: parentheses around space to jump through
    oO0Oo Resident: ty
    --BELL--

Eos Amaterasu: how was resting with dignity?
    oO0Oo Resident: expansive, relaxing, luxurious
    Eos Amaterasu: were you alone?
    oO0Oo Resident: .
Kit Ciaco: excuse me - gotta scoot!
    oO0Oo Resident: Kit
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
    oO0Oo Resident: Kaboodle :)
    Eos Amaterasu: scoot, bye!
oO0Oo Resident: alone, but not isolated in a sense Eos
Eos Amaterasu: I suppose the 5 times a day prayer is a way to have periodic pauses
Eos Amaterasu: thinking of thousands of people having a dignified moment together :-)
Eos Amaterasu: that's really the essence of "enlightened society"
Eos Amaterasu: having a really big timeless moment
Eos Amaterasu: there's a bit of sense of that in #Egypt
Eos Amaterasu: but then the big bang moment has to evolve into a universe
Eos Amaterasu: all the details of society
oO0Oo Resident: natural heirarchy at work before, during and after
oO0Oo Resident: earth cries out to the sky
    Eos Amaterasu: lot of self-organization
Eos Amaterasu: people doing their own policing
    oO0Oo Resident: with innate wisdom
Eos Amaterasu: the faces and voices are full of life
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Eos Amaterasu: "I am doing this for my future, and for my country"
Eos Amaterasu: Perhaps this kind of state partly comes from huge sudden drop
Eos Amaterasu: the old egypt falls away
Eos Amaterasu: and people get to look around
Eos Amaterasu: Mabye this is a design pattern for demonstrations: have periodic communally held pauses
Eos Amaterasu: everyone gets to go orthogonal off their beaten tracks
Eos Amaterasu: Would you like to suggest a framing, O?
Eos Amaterasu: for upcoming 90 secs?
    Eos Amaterasu: hi Ewan
oO0Oo Resident: This fellow died about 120 years before Tilopa was born:
oO0Oo Resident: Just put thoughts to rest; Don't seek outwardly anymore. When things come up, Then give them your attention; Just trust what is functional In you at present, And you have nothing To be concerned about. - Linji (d. 867)
    --BELL--

Ewan Bonham: Hi just passing through..:)
    Eos Amaterasu: Nice: When things come up, Then give them your attention;
Eos Amaterasu: Rilke was scared of that: "every single angel is terrible"
oO0Oo Resident: otherwise you spill the beer when you kick back ;)
    oO0Oo Resident: leaders need help
    Eos Amaterasu listens
oO0Oo Resident: saw the movie, 'the king's speech' recently
    oO0Oo Resident: poignant
Eos Amaterasu: Have not seen it yet...
    oO0Oo Resident: quite worthwhile
oO0Oo Resident: what it means to follow in huge footsteps of father king
oO0Oo Resident: not being 100% ready
Eos Amaterasu: the leader surrounds himself with helpful ministers
oO0Oo Resident: who can provide meaningful help of the right (needed) kind
Eos Amaterasu: and an assortment of ragamuffins, spies, companions et al
oO0Oo Resident: and some of the inner circle are...
    oO0Oo Resident: yes
oO0Oo Resident: or just agenda, power, nepotism
    Eos Amaterasu: HI Cal
oO0Oo Resident: or relieved to be out from under the flames of the previous sovereign
Calvino Rabeni: Eos / Sam, hello
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Cal
Eos Amaterasu: seems to be a hard to avoid track, that which devolves into holding on to and increasing power....
Eos Amaterasu: it's actually easier that way (<- hypothesis)
oO0Oo Resident: I'm no shing example
    oO0Oo Resident: shining*
Eos Amaterasu: you're holding on to power?
oO0Oo Resident: well, I reckognize the challenges even in my own small little world/mind
oO0Oo Resident: and then in smaller social circles
    Eos Amaterasu listens further
oO0Oo Resident: well, the acting in the film is very good, and the character, honor, heart, hidden spirits, all very wnderful
oO0Oo Resident: to be the king we want to see
    oO0Oo Resident: a stuttering king
    oO0Oo Resident: finds
    oO0Oo Resident: his seat
    oO0Oo Resident: and
    oO0Oo Resident: self trained
    oO0Oo Resident: Australian healer
    Eos Amaterasu: dignity
    oO0Oo Resident: finds
    oO0Oo Resident: the difference between
    oO0Oo Resident: religion and spirituality
    --BELL--

Eos Amaterasu: how would you express that diff, oO0Oo?
oO0Oo Resident: a throne is just a cgair
    oO0Oo Resident: chair*
Eos Amaterasu: haha -I thought you meant cigar! :-)
oO0Oo Resident: imbued with whatever sits there
Calvino Rabeni: I liked that film on many levels - I saw it yesterday - the significance is developing slowly - as I think tends to happen for a good film
    oO0Oo Resident: lol
oO0Oo Resident: must learn to type
Eos Amaterasu: "sometimes a throne is just a cigar" :-)
    oO0Oo Resident: hehe
Calvino Rabeni: Sometimes a chair is just a chair?
    oO0Oo Resident: shmokin'
Calvino Rabeni: Unless you're a philosopher
Alfred Kelberry: hello, sweet pablings :)
    Eos Amaterasu: Hey, boxy!
oO0Oo Resident: sometimes a box is a flute
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Calvino Rabeni: One scene I liked was where the king is watching a movie of Hitler addressing a huge crowd
Calvino Rabeni: And the daughter asks - What is he saying?
Calvino Rabeni: The king says - "I don't know ... but he's saying it VERY WELL"
Alfred Kelberry: cal, what movie is that?
    oO0Oo Resident: ironic
    Calvino Rabeni: The King's Speech
    Calvino Rabeni: Highly recommendable
Calvino Rabeni: This should be the real definition of an "Adult Movie" :)
oO0Oo Resident: I liked how the vulnerability gave rise to the ground to confront arrogance out of necessity
Eos Amaterasu: so the King and his attendant come to rest in dignity
oO0Oo Resident: and true heart was discovered
Alfred Kelberry: ah, yes. i heard it's a great movie.
oO0Oo Resident: dignity that was there all along
oO0Oo Resident: the form got sliced and diced a bit
Eos Amaterasu: not "yes we can" but "yes we are"
Calvino Rabeni: It was good - I wish it had delved even more into the pain that underlies a sense of entitlement
Alfred Kelberry: no spoilers, please :)
Eos Amaterasu: some people get dealt a royal flush
oO0Oo Resident: and the king's wife expressed how she was opposed to marrying into royalty, while the spech therapist's wife had her own queenly manner
    oO0Oo Resident: oops
    oO0Oo Resident: sorry boxy
    oO0Oo Resident zips
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Eos Amaterasu: tars
    oO0Oo Resident: ;)
oO0Oo Resident: good father and son movie
Calvino Rabeni: Of course they're not sitting on top of the world, thinking "isn't life great?"
    oO0Oo Resident: no
Calvino Rabeni: None of them wanted the kingship
oO0Oo Resident: but you can knight me nonetheless
oO0Oo Resident: must have helped the family
    Eos Amaterasu: Sir oO0Oo?
Calvino Rabeni: There's a desire to be free of one's defined station, whether commoner or noble
Calvino Rabeni: The king wanted to be a commoner and vice versa
    oO0Oo Resident: yes!
Eos Amaterasu: wear your karma easily
oO0Oo Resident: like a duck in water Sir Sun goddess
Eos Amaterasu is thinking of the people of Egypt
    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: The film was interesting in demonstrating how a seemingly hard to change personal characteristic can yield to a concerted effort at practice - with help and courage - and interesting the collectively holistic nature of those very different practices
Calvino Rabeni: Just on a technical level it was interesting
oO0Oo Resident: he was a good student
oO0Oo Resident: the smoking was a bad idea
Calvino Rabeni: Any coach or therapist might find it instructive and accurate
    Eos Amaterasu: concerted effort, hmm
Eos Amaterasu: Must be off, thank you and good night, fellow AVs
Calvino Rabeni: Good night Eos fly well
    oO0Oo Resident: night Eos
oO0Oo Resident: being carried by a larger cause
Calvino Rabeni: The relationship between the King and his mentor was crucial ... as was the motivation to some larger cause, true
Calvino Rabeni: as were the techniques collectively
oO0Oo Resident: the need to speak, to be king, and also the need to help the shell shocked war veterens
    oO0Oo Resident: dedication
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, I really liked that scene where the teacher defended himself and his background
oO0Oo Resident: close your eyes boxy...
Calvino Rabeni: honestly stating the true source of his skills
    oO0Oo Resident: yes
oO0Oo Resident: he had excellent character
oO0Oo Resident: and when the King finally payed that Shilling...
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Calvino Rabeni: That was a great scene, a pivotal point
oO0Oo Resident: the teacher's family life was also commendable
Calvino Rabeni: showing how much can turn on a symbol
oO0Oo Resident: Hard to represent well, a Winston Churchill
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, that was not one of the movie's strengths
    Calvino Rabeni: although, who knows?
oO0Oo Resident: but his supportive and well timed lines made him a good minister
Calvino Rabeni: Maybe Churchill was not the "giant" we have come to expect
    oO0Oo Resident: Or maybe moreso
Calvino Rabeni: There's the man on the one hand, and on the other, the legend
oO0Oo Resident: there are personal, legendary moments, that are worth remembering
oO0Oo Resident: as history takes over
Calvino Rabeni: I figure it is a little like a PaB session ... any reasonable random sample is pretty dull, but if you sift the whole thing for some standouts it looks good :)
Calvino Rabeni: So a couple hours with Churchill might seem like a lot less than we expect :)
Calvino Rabeni: History makes it gleam
oO0Oo Resident smiles in appreciation of the editing that must occur
    oO0Oo Resident: there's a lead up to a diamond
    oO0Oo Resident: and a context
Calvino Rabeni: Or gold in all the lead
    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: Most youtube videos would look wrong on the big screen, and feature films terribly boring in the little square of the web page.
oO0Oo Resident: As of November over 50,500 hours uploaded per day to YouTube
oO0Oo Resident: for the people, by the people
    oO0Oo Resident: sift, sift
Calvino Rabeni: Well it's also a commercial distribution channel with advertisements built in
    oO0Oo Resident: yes
Calvino Rabeni: I think it's really brought an advancement though to amateur talent
oO0Oo Resident: but a far cry more interactive and impowering than the choices of a few decades ago
    oO0Oo Resident: yes
Alfred Kelberry: i have to go folks
Alfred Kelberry: thank you for the company
    oO0Oo Resident: ty boxy
    oO0Oo Resident: be well
    Calvino Rabeni: Bye Boxy :)
    oO0Oo Resident: tc
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, In a way, bringing us closer to the pre-commercial days where most performances were by non-professional, non-commercial, actual people we may know and live with
oO0Oo Resident: historic and geographic boundaries collapse somewhat
Calvino Rabeni: Another film that's in release right now - also about a legend - is Ip Man 2
Calvino Rabeni: (forget that last line .. editor please)
    Calvino Rabeni: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1386932/
    oO0Oo Resident: reading.. ty
oO0Oo Resident: I didn't see the first one, but heard good reviews of it
oO0Oo Resident: will keep an eye out for these
    Calvino Rabeni: It was good
oO0Oo Resident: that's enough of a recommend for me ;)
    --BELL--

    oO0Oo Resident: Cal?
oO0Oo Resident: We have a friend who doesn't seem to come to PaB
oO0Oo Resident: not that she should per se
    oO0Oo Resident: Has she been?
Calvino Rabeni: Check out the style of the conversations in that other group
Calvino Rabeni: it has a different Tao than PlayAsBeing
    oO0Oo Resident: OK, will do
    oO0Oo Resident: ty Cal
Calvino Rabeni: Although there are people who like both places
Calvino Rabeni: The style there gravitates to personal expression and disclosure of one's real life circumstances
Calvino Rabeni: and away from philosophy and speculation
oO0Oo Resident: maybe, dance, or something like it (Tai-Chi), is a 'doer's meanigful meditation
Calvino Rabeni: It's unlikely that we'd talk here about things like how it feels to sleep with one's ex-husband
Calvino Rabeni: or the challenges of parenthood, in juicy detail
Calvino Rabeni: or telling personal foibles
Calvino Rabeni: It's partly the public nature of the recorded sessions
oO0Oo Resident: Isn't everything in SL recorded by Linden Lab?
Calvino Rabeni: but mainly a "style thing" about how people want to relate to each other
Calvino Rabeni: I've invited people here who have a different style
Calvino Rabeni: they stay for 20 minutes then run .. thinking ... "this is not for me"
Calvino Rabeni: and that assessment could look different ways to them
Calvino Rabeni: like it's scary, or boring, or puzzling, or formal, or you have to be intellectual to be here, or its impractical, or people are ignoring me, or ....
Calvino Rabeni: ..lots of ways of interpreting the style gap
oO0Oo Resident: yes PaB is like a Haiku
Calvino Rabeni: It could be an energy thing
Calvino Rabeni: a style that expresses heart through the gut
oO0Oo Resident: easily passed up on
Calvino Rabeni: is very different than a style that expresses heart through the head
Calvino Rabeni: There are implicit social norms that are very different between those styles
oO0Oo Resident: what place the gut in virtual worlds?
    Calvino Rabeni: in people
Calvino Rabeni: in some social contexts the gut people will feel fettered or emasculated
Calvino Rabeni: in other the head people will feel lobotomized
Calvino Rabeni: I don't believe there's any single social context where everyone will feel they fit in and belong and will be able to "shine" authentically for who they are
oO0Oo Resident: no, that's what legends are for
Calvino Rabeni: Right, legends are so people don't forget the full gamut of human powers
Calvino Rabeni: Legends and myths hold them for safekeeping
oO0Oo Resident: your understanding of these diferences of style is compassionate
Calvino Rabeni: even if sometimes the powers must be buried in a shadowed place
oO0Oo Resident: embracing more than our own biases
    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: I hope so, sam, there's more to human life than roles and styles and biases and their hidden moral rules
Calvino Rabeni: That's why I liked the scene in the movie where the King appreciated Hitler's oratory power
Calvino Rabeni: because he could see through the label "enemy of our nation"
Calvino Rabeni: and find something that he admired and needed
oO0Oo Resident: because he needed that effective speech
Calvino Rabeni: He needed a different way of Being, personally
Calvino Rabeni: the film was about the transformation of his persona
Calvino Rabeni: beyond a fixed frame he learned as a child
Calvino Rabeni: Well sam, I'm thinking it's time to adjourn
oO0Oo Resident: Yes, well, I shall lean into the edge of my fixed frame of being one of the last to leave :)
oO0Oo Resident: delightful talking with you Cal, and others
Calvino Rabeni: I will be in a nearby frame, sam
Calvino Rabeni: we're like pages in a book
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Calvino Rabeni: See you later then, take care
