eggsalad Ormstein: a course of what?
Zen Arado: and she makes me do Yoga exercises first thing
    Loelia Zabaleta: 'makes' you ?

    My 'Plants and People' course:

Zen Arado: it's called 'Plants and People
    Loelia Zabaleta: sounds interesting
Zen Arado: ha ha only becaus I like to be 'made'
    Loelia Zabaleta: °͜° right
Zen Arado: it's a short Open University course Loelia
eggsalad Ormstein: wow, you are a better man than I
    Loelia Zabaleta: about particular plants?
    Zen Arado: I am?
    Zen Arado: why?
Zen Arado: no it's very general
Zen Arado: all about different aspects of our relationship with plants
eggsalad Ormstein: because anybody who tries to make me do anything gets bad results
Zen Arado: I'll see if I can find the intro to course
    Loelia Zabaleta: haha

    Subs and Dommes:

Loelia Zabaleta: not into sub roleplay then eggsalad ?
    Loelia Zabaleta: :D
    Loelia Zabaleta: thanks Zen
eggsalad Ormstein: sub reality, maybe. roleplay, no
    Zen Arado: http://www3.open.ac.uk/study/undergr...ourse/s173.htm
Zen Arado: I'm investigating that atm
Zen Arado: know a woman who is a Domme
Zen Arado: but I'm not a very good sub :)
    Loelia Zabaleta: sounds interesting Zen
Loelia Zabaleta: i can imagine Egg :D
Zen Arado: yes Miss Loelia :)
Loelia Zabaleta: lol no need for that Zen °͜°
    Zen Arado: :)
Loelia Zabaleta: i am not a domme i have to say
Loelia Zabaleta: i don't like the idea of the control or responsability
    Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: think I am more dom than sub
Zen Arado: not sure of the whole idea anyway
Zen Arado: you have to be what you are
    Zen Arado: whatever that is
Loelia Zabaleta: i suppose i think we are all many faceted
    Zen Arado: yes
Loelia Zabaleta: and its there in part in all of us
Zen Arado: we play different roles all the time
Loelia Zabaleta: but what we enjoy is where we focus
    Loelia Zabaleta: indeed
Loelia Zabaleta: when i was younger i thought that meant i was hollow

    Meeting at Osho Island:

Zen Arado: I went to a meeting at Osho island last night
Loelia Zabaleta: cos i could be all things to all men so to speak
    Korel Laloix: Heya
    Zen Arado: Hi Korel :)
    Loelia Zabaleta: hello Korel
Loelia Zabaleta: what was your meeting Zen ?
    eggsalad Ormstein: hi korel\
Zen Arado: it was about emotions and relationships
Zen Arado: Chi - who comes here, delivered the lecture
Zen Arado: it will be a series
Loelia Zabaleta: oh yes he gave me a notecard
Loelia Zabaleta: but i was away
Zen Arado: he was talking about how ppl use roles to manipulate others
    Loelia Zabaleta: right
Korel Laloix: Manipulate is abad word though.
Loelia Zabaleta: that seems to be a very male preoccupation
    Loelia Zabaleta: usually about women
Korel Laloix: You can infulence people in a postive way as well
Zen Arado: ha was thinking it the other way around :)
Loelia Zabaleta: okay well thats more interesting °͜°
Loelia Zabaleta: what did he mean ?
Zen Arado: being false I suppose
Zen Arado: he talked about authenticity
Loelia Zabaleta: i don't think a role means one is false
    Zen Arado: Sartre's 'bad faith'
Loelia Zabaleta: right i am very interested in that too
    Loelia Zabaleta: yes °͜°

    Sartre's Waiter:

Zen Arado: you heard of Sartre;s waiter?
    Loelia Zabaleta: in Nauseas ?
    Loelia Zabaleta: yes Nausea
    Zen Arado: not sure
Zen Arado: thought it was 'Being and Nothingness'
    Zen Arado: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_fai...xistentialism)
Korel Laloix: Is this the no cream vs no milk joke?
Zen Arado: "Sartre cites a cafe waiter, whose movements and conversation are a little too "waiter-esque". His voice oozes with an eagerness to please; he carries food rigidly and ostentatiously. His exaggerated behaviour illustrates that he is play acting as a waiter, as an object in the world: an automaton whose essence is to be a waiter. But that he is obviously acting belies that he is aware that he is not (merely) a waiter, but is rather consciously deceiving himself.[1]"
Zen Arado: don't know that one Korel?
    Korel Laloix: lol
    Zen Arado: tell us Korel
Korel Laloix: Satre goes to a cafe in Paris and orders a coffee with no cream... the waitress goes away and comes back and says..
Korel Laloix: I am sory sir, we are out of cream, woudl you like a coffe with no milk instead?
    Loelia Zabaleta: haah
    Zen Arado: lol
Korel Laloix: So was he being authentic or not??
    Loelia Zabaleta: the waiter ?
    Loelia Zabaleta: he was not
Zen Arado: she was being funny I think
Zen Arado: and if a funny person - yes
    Zen Arado: :)
    Zen Arado: the problem is

    Authenticity:

Zen Arado: how do you know if you are being authentic?
Zen Arado: I know I am not an authentic sub if I try that role
Zen Arado: though it is necessary in life
Zen Arado: and not that hard sometimes
Korel Laloix: A think a better question would be why is it important to be authentic?
Zen Arado: we all have to play roles don't we?
    Zen Arado: yes!!!
Korel Laloix: I don't care if you are true to yourself if you are a good waiter.
    Zen Arado: inauthenticity = phoniness?
Korel Laloix: If it makes you enjoy your job more or do it better... go for being authentic.... until then though, I would like the double chocolate overload sunday.
Loelia Zabaleta: and there is a truth in being a good waiter
    Loelia Zabaleta: lol
    Zen Arado: yes
Korel Laloix: My job is mainly to be sexually herrased by rich idiots.
Loelia Zabaleta: sounds like a fun job
    Loelia Zabaleta: ;)#
    Zen Arado: yes:)
Korel Laloix: I smile a lot and get paid well.... but I do the day to day stuff very very well.
    Loelia Zabaleta: brb
eggsalad Ormstein: would you rather it was poor idiots?
Korel Laloix: Not really... I get good concert tickes this way.... lol
Zen Arado: rich would be more arrogant tho
    Zen Arado: more demanding
Korel Laloix: Yes, but I have to admit......
Korel Laloix: destroying their egoes when turning them down is very pleasant to me.... lol
    Zen Arado: :)
Zen Arado: playing your rejecting role
    Korel Laloix: It is fun.
Korel Laloix: But I do have to say.... most of our clients are great people.....
Zen Arado: rich ppl can be humble too
Korel Laloix: But especiallly the pro atheletes think every woman in the world wants to sleep with them.
Korel Laloix: I do feel sorry for some of our folks though.
Zen Arado: those guys are fit
Korel Laloix: We have one rap star that is stuck in his role and cant get out.... killing him from the inside.
    Zen Arado: good point Korel
Zen Arado: getting stuck in a role
Zen Arado: think that happened to Jimi Hendrix too
Korel Laloix: I know the name.....
    Korel Laloix: Looking him up.
Zen Arado: if you are outrageous it is hard to find new outrageous things to do
Zen Arado: before your time Korel ...sighs
Zen Arado: but all of us are prone to stick to roles (generalizing again)
    Zen Arado: ?
Korel Laloix: YEs. and I do it very very well.
Korel Laloix: IBut on that note. finally geting sleepy again... off to bed.
Zen Arado: that is why I experiment here
    Korel Laloix: Good night.
Zen Arado: first with a different gender role
    Zen Arado: nite Korel
    eggsalad Ormstein: bye korel
Zen Arado: role should be things you can drop
    Zen Arado: roles*
Zen Arado: we put them on in the morning like clothes
    Zen Arado: as Pema says
Zen Arado: maybe they give us security
Zen Arado: I see that in roleplay with Dom/mes and subs
Zen Arado: am I making sense?
    eggsalad Ormstein: bye
    Zen Arado: bye Egg
    Zen Arado: thanks for coming

    Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: thought I was boring everybody
    Zen Arado: :(
Loelia Zabaleta: not at all i was interested
Loelia Zabaleta: and roleplaying even as simple avis is very
    Loelia Zabaleta: relevant to sl
Loelia Zabaleta: let alone all the other stuff
Zen Arado: just something I am interested in atm
    Loelia Zabaleta: °͜°
Loelia Zabaleta: i think we are all playing out some role in here
Zen Arado: I am finding a lot of connections with this subject
Loelia Zabaleta: that perhaps in rl we are not able to do
Zen Arado: from philosophy to just being
Loelia Zabaleta: even when ppl say they are the same
    Loelia Zabaleta: right
    Loelia Zabaleta: you like Satre?
    Zen Arado: like? not sure
    Loelia Zabaleta: °͜°
    Zen Arado: interesting anyway
    Loelia Zabaleta: yes
Loelia Zabaleta: i am most interestedin the existentual view of life
Zen Arado: I haven't read that much of his work
    Loelia Zabaleta: than anyother philosophy
Zen Arado: but came acroos him in philosophy studies
    Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: I read Camus too
    Loelia Zabaleta: yes
Zen Arado: it is a pretty bleak view
