The Guardian for this meeting was druth Vlodovic. Present were Aphrodite Macbain, Kit Ciaco, Fox Monacular, Korel Laloix, oO0Oo and I.  Thanks to kit for the title and music  :-)

    Aphrodite Macbain: Hello Kit.
    Kit Ciaco: Hi!
Aphrodite Macbain: I' going to get some soup. Brb
    druth Vlodovic: hi kit
    Kit Ciaco: Hello Druth!
Kit Ciaco: Have you been here before?
    druth Vlodovic: yes, I have
    druth Vlodovic: thanks
Kit Ciaco: Great! I hadn't noticed you but am glad to meet you today!
druth Vlodovic: I'm pretty sure we'v met, though a while ago
druth Vlodovic: I haven't heard your flute yet, though
    Kit Ciaco: OH! Sorry!!
    Kit Ciaco: LOL!
    Kit Ciaco: yep
Kit Ciaco: That's a sure sign we've met alright!
druth Vlodovic: oh, that's ok, I'm sure I'll get the oppourtuity :)
Kit Ciaco: Well, since no one else is here, I'll give you a quick live sample....
    Aphrodite Macbain: oh! haunting
    Aphrodite Macbain: Thank you!!
    Kit Ciaco: Thanks!
Aphrodite Macbain: what were you playing?
Kit Ciaco: That's one of the ones I make in rl
    druth Vlodovic: ty
Kit Ciaco: It's a Wingsong Flute, key of G in Verdi tuning
Kit Ciaco: which is why it sounds a little flatter than "normal"
    Aphrodite Macbain: Verdi tuning...
Kit Ciaco: native american style flute
    Kit Ciaco: yes
    Kit Ciaco: fascinating tuning
    Aphrodite Macbain: as in Giuseppi?
Kit Ciaco: in concert tuning A=440Hz
Kit Ciaco: but in verdi A=432
Aphrodite Macbain: perhaps that's what gives its haunting quality
    Kit Ciaco: don't know Giuseppi
Kit Ciaco: but years ago verdi was much more pupular
    Aphrodite Macbain: Giuseppi Verdi
    Aphrodite Macbain: Italian composer
Kit Ciaco: Yes, I think that is correct
    Aphrodite Macbain: 19th century
Kit Ciaco: the thing is, for many years different pianists and orchrestra masters would try to outdo one another by raising the A
Aphrodite Macbain: is it made of bamboo?
Kit Ciaco: so that that sopranos could outdo one another
Kit Ciaco: which is why the middle A kept creeping higher and higher
Kit Ciaco: but VErdi is more cosmically sound
    Aphrodite Macbain: raising the A???
    Kit Ciaco: no
Kit Ciaco: this one is red cedar
Aphrodite Macbain: I thought it was an absolute
    Aphrodite Macbain: A
Kit Ciaco: I also use Alaskan yellow
    Kit Ciaco: no
Aphrodite Macbain: does it give it a different quality?
Kit Ciaco: the a can be calibrated differently
Kit Ciaco: well, cedar is one of the most common
Kit Ciaco: but the tones shift based on all sorts of factors
Aphrodite Macbain: I know so little about music theory. Musicians are mathematicians I think
Kit Ciaco: I don't usualy work with more exotic woods
Kit Ciaco: and alot of flute makers say there is no real differences
Aphrodite Macbain: exotic is relative, I would think
Kit Ciaco: I do see a difference betwen my Alsakns and my reds, though
    Kit Ciaco: I agree
Aphrodite Macbain: perhaps it LOOKS nicer
Kit Ciaco: about math and exotic
Kit Ciaco: I actually prefer the more basic ones anywya
    Kit Ciaco: well, heheheheh
    Aphrodite Macbain: brb
Kit Ciaco: depends on the finish to some extent
Kit Ciaco: I finish many of mine with a poke berry stain from my woods
Kit Ciaco: and people rave about them
Kit Ciaco: but for me, it's not just the looks
Kit Ciaco: it's the tone that's most important for me
druth Vlodovic: how did you get into making flutes?
    Kit Ciaco: heheheheh
    Kit Ciaco: well
Kit Ciaco: they say that most people who start playing will soon want to make their own
Kit Ciaco: I began playing about five years ago
Kit Ciaco: and within a month I began piddling on my own
Kit Ciaco: I think it's sort of primordial for some folks
    Kit Ciaco: I don't know....
Aphrodite Macbain: Kit- are you the Guardian?
    Kit Ciaco: no
Kit Ciaco: I don't know how to claim a session yet
Kit Ciaco: I just came for the popcorn....
Kit Ciaco: Can you claim the session?
    --BELL--
Kit Ciaco: This sounds like a joke.... "How many guardians does it take to claim a session?" One. But it must know HOW to claim the session."
druth Vlodovic: lol, I can if you like
    Kit Ciaco: great!
Aphrodite Macbain: I can help you Kit
druth Vlodovic: afaik you just click the thingy in the centre
    Aphrodite Macbain: o great
Kit Ciaco: that's ok for now - you take it, druth!
druth Vlodovic: but you have to set up your e-mail
    Aphrodite Macbain: oh
Aphrodite Macbain: are you claiming it druth?
    druth Vlodovic: I just did
Kit Ciaco: I'm holding off claiming for awhile....
druth Vlodovic: but since I'm doing you a favour you need to give me a good title :)
    druth Vlodovic: why?
    Kit Ciaco: personal reasons mostly....
Kit Ciaco: a good title... Hmmmm - that sounds like fun!
Aphrodite Macbain: the session will be recorded as soon as it's claimed.
druth Vlodovic: not afraid of making a fool of yourself?
Aphrodite Macbain: you will miss alot if you don't claim it immediately
    Kit Ciaco: Oh, HECK no!
Kit Ciaco: I make a fool of myself about 24 times a day!
    druth Vlodovic: lol, good :)
    Kit Ciaco: It's my calling....
druth Vlodovic: no, it starts at 1 and you get the whole log
Aphrodite Macbain: I must be somewhere else in a few minutes; sorry I'll miss your foolishness!!
Kit Ciaco: Oh, I'm sure you'll see it again next time around....
druth Vlodovic: aww, who will we play for?
druth Vlodovic: gone, a quick few minutes
Kit Ciaco: hmmmm - low tide this afternoon....
druth Vlodovic: now we have to talk about something deep and wise
    Kit Ciaco: LOL!!!!!
    druth Vlodovic: low tide?
Kit Ciaco: unfortunately, I am a Bear of Little Brain....
Kit Ciaco: I gave up deep, wise thoughts some time ago
druth Vlodovic: we'll make a lovely pair
Kit Ciaco: just in terms of numbers - not quality - tide-wise
    Kit Ciaco: Indeed!
druth Vlodovic: you live near the ocean?
Kit Ciaco: In my heart only
    Kit Ciaco: I'm a landlubber
druth Vlodovic: ah, me too, though we go to the ocean every year on vacation
Kit Ciaco: But I've spent many days and wonderful hours flying my 9 foot Delta kite on the beaches
    Kit Ciaco: sigh
Kit Ciaco: it's a wonderful space, where the land meets the sea
druth Vlodovic: I love the roar of the surf
Kit Ciaco: I do, however, have a tiny little pond in my back yard where I sit with the frogs for hours on end in the summer time
druth Vlodovic: and the strange life that comes up to meet you
Kit Ciaco: and the salt in the air and the seagulls and the wind and the sand!!!
    Kit Ciaco: Yes!
Kit Ciaco: it's a very different spirit what lives on the coast
druth Vlodovic: ah tadpoles! I haven't gotten to play with those since I was young
Kit Ciaco: Some of my finest moments in life have been flying my kite at midnight by the moon on the beach
Kit Ciaco: They are FUN fellas to play with, I can tell you!
Kit Ciaco: Frogs possess great wisdom
druth Vlodovic: that's an image, I'm sure you were the source of a few precious moments for others when they saw that :)
    druth Vlodovic: wisdom?
Kit Ciaco: heheheheh - I wonder - I never noticed much except the flight in those days
Kit Ciaco: Yes - they seem so content
Kit Ciaco: I mean, never worried
Kit Ciaco: if uncomfortable they just move
Kit Ciaco: At the beginning of each summer when I walk toward the pond they all leap into the water or hop madling into the woods
Kit Ciaco: but as the summer progresses more and more of them stay on the rocks while I sit and play
Kit Ciaco: They sing when they feel like singing
Kit Ciaco: And they don't seem to worry how they sound
Kit Ciaco: They just blend with all that is is such harmony
Kit Ciaco: I sit with them to learn mostly
druth Vlodovic: I always wondered about people who did karate in public parks, similar idea, just doing, not showing or hiding
    Kit Ciaco: exactly!
Kit Ciaco: Perhaps they were frogs in a former life
Kit Ciaco: or are preparing for froghood in the next life
    --BELL--
druth Vlodovic: like an artist playing her own flute for strangers in a strange place :)
Kit Ciaco: And there's that whole angle of them getting to be kissed by princesses!
    Kit Ciaco: hehehehehe
druth Vlodovic: oh, the poor things
Kit Ciaco: I have taken to going around the grid and playing....
druth Vlodovic: from freedom to a profession preoccupied by image
Kit Ciaco: yes - nothing worse than seeing a frog with lipstick on its cheek!
    druth Vlodovic: lol
druth Vlodovic: so hard to get started with art "what if somebody sees?!?"

-as she points out later the word is "exhibitionist" but if you're watching yourself do it I guess "voyeur" is appropriate too

Kit Ciaco: Oh, I'm a bit of a voyeur, I guess
Kit Ciaco: I start and hope someone comes by
Kit Ciaco: and hope with equal fervor they don't throw tomatos at me
Kit Ciaco: I was once playing and a lady came and stood very still right next to me
Kit Ciaco: I kept playing and she kept standing
Kit Ciaco: and when I got done I meekly asked if she liked it
Kit Ciaco: she said - Liked what" I don't have my speakers on - I was just looking at that rock over there next to you.
    druth Vlodovic: oh no!
    druth Vlodovic: ah, poor kit
Kit Ciaco: Well, it worked for both of us, I guess
Kit Ciaco: I enjoyed playing and she enjoyed the rock
Kit Ciaco: I'm actually using the grid as an exercise
druth Vlodovic: that is one way to see it
Kit Ciaco: I haven't "performed" live for years
druth Vlodovic: working your way up to rl?
Kit Ciaco: so it's sort of a way to push myself out of my musical shell
Fox Monacular: Hello Kit and Druth
Kit Ciaco: heheheheh - I don't know if I'm THAT brave
druth Vlodovic: hi fox, grab a seat
Kit Ciaco: but sometimes in the summer I do sit sit down in a remote part of a park and people walk by
Kit Ciaco: I used to quit playing if they got too near
druth Vlodovic: have you been here before?
Kit Ciaco: but this summer I hope to keep on playing
Kit Ciaco: and hope for no tomatoes!
druth Vlodovic: but now you don't
    Kit Ciaco: Hi, fox!
Fox Monacular: yes, yes:) I don't believe we've met
    druth Vlodovic: lol, free fruit!
Fox Monacular: nice to meet you
    Fox Monacular: both:)
Kit Ciaco: I'll wear a raincoat just in case...
druth Vlodovic: no, we're talking (I guess) about being yourself in public
    Kit Ciaco: and kissing frogs
    Kit Ciaco: in private
druth Vlodovic: another good use of raincoats
Fox Monacular: oh, that;s a tricky thing sometimes
Kit Ciaco: I mean, I may be a voyeur but when I get to the point of kissing frogs I assure you it will NOT be in public view!
    Kit Ciaco: Not a voyeur
Kit Ciaco: what am I talking about?
    Kit Ciaco: An exhibitionist....
    Kit Ciaco: a showoff, actually
druth Vlodovic: you need a frog shaped flute, so you can switch if somone sees you
Kit Ciaco: one who FLAUNTS their foolishness....
    Kit Ciaco: sigh
    Kit Ciaco: LOL!
    druth Vlodovic: kids are funny
druth Vlodovic: they'll walk up and start playing next to someone, or with them
    Kit Ciaco: Exactly!
    Fox Monacular: kids and rock-n-rollers:)
druth Vlodovic: maybe the entire afternoon, perhaps never learning the other kid's name
Kit Ciaco: I love that about kids!
    Fox Monacular: spontaneous jam sessions
druth Vlodovic: ah, do you play music too fox?
Kit Ciaco: sand the whole spontneity!
Fox Monacular: used to... i played the flute in a rock band during undergrad
    Kit Ciaco: COOL!!!!!
Fox Monacular: the band wasn't very good:))
druth Vlodovic: I've never been able to show myself that much, I envy both of you, maybe all three
    druth Vlodovic: hi oO0Oo
Kit Ciaco: Sometimes the spirit compensates for the notes
    oO0Oo Resident: hi everyone :)
Fox Monacular: hi oO0Oo! nice to meet you
    Kit Ciaco: Hi, ya, Sam!
oO0Oo Resident: nice to meet you Fox (thinks: spirited away)
    Fox Monacular: :) yes
    oO0Oo Resident: Love Miyazaki
Fox Monacular: I haven't been in PaB too often lately, there are so many new avis!
druth Vlodovic: hello korel, have you been here before?
Kit Ciaco: Well, that's what I tell myself when I play, Fox
    Fox Monacular: yes, me too
Korel Laloix: I am not a fan of much animation, but that was very cool movie.
Korel Laloix: Yes... many times.. thanks.
    Kit Ciaco: hi, Korel
    Korel Laloix: bozho
    Fox Monacular: hi Korel
    oO0Oo Resident: Ohiyo Korel
    Korel Laloix smiles
    oO0Oo Resident: sp?
    Korel Laloix: osiyo
    Korel Laloix: o si yo
    oO0Oo Resident: ty
    Korel Laloix: or OSiYo
oO0Oo Resident: Japanese on my mind
oO0Oo Resident rolls eyes at self
    --BELL--
Korel Laloix: SO what have I missed?
    druth Vlodovic: kit kissing frogs
Kit Ciaco: music, the sea, and frogs
Fox Monacular: I was late too:)
Kit Ciaco: well, yes, that, too
    oO0Oo Resident: me too lol
Korel Laloix: I dont care for frog legs I have to say...
druth Vlodovic: we stopped doing anything interesting when others arrived
Kit Ciaco: But I assure you, there was no lipstick involved
Kit Ciaco: I do have my limits!
Korel Laloix: OH... thanks for the reminder... need to order.
Kit Ciaco: I love frog legs - as long as they're attached to living frogs!
druth Vlodovic: besides, it is so hard to put it on them straight
Kit Ciaco: But why would one want to put frog legs on straight?
Korel Laloix: YOu put lipstick on frogs?
Kit Ciaco: But why would one want to put frog legs on straight?
    Kit Ciaco: No
Kit Ciaco: I do not put lipstick on frogs
    Kit Ciaco: only pigs
    Korel Laloix: THank goodness.
druth Vlodovic: it keeps them from jumping away while you apply the lipstick, of course!
Kit Ciaco: I was just alking about frogs being kissed by princesses who oftentimes DO wear lipstick, so I'm told
    Kit Ciaco: LOL!
Korel Laloix: I am strongly resisting some Nacy Peolosi comments.
    Kit Ciaco: LOL!
druth Vlodovic: I'm proud of you
Kit Ciaco: I'm told they prefer lipgloss over lipstick - the pigs, not the princesses
    Korel Laloix curtseys
Korel Laloix: Depends on the occation.
Kit Ciaco: Yes, that is surely true!
Korel Laloix: Gloss is soooo the way to go sometimes though.
Kit Ciaco: I think so, too
Korel Laloix: Love the way it makes my lips looks.
Kit Ciaco: under the heading, "less is more"
Korel Laloix: With a little liner.... wow.
    Kit Ciaco: the pigs????
Korel Laloix: Welll, me this time.
Kit Ciaco: Whew! I was about to be worried!
Korel Laloix: Have not been called a pig in a while though.
Korel Laloix: Maybe because ofthe lipgloss.
Kit Ciaco: hmmmm - gosh, now that I think of it, it's been at least a month for me!
Korel Laloix: It can be mildly cliche these days... used so mutch.
Kit Ciaco: Well, heck, most folks wear underpants and that's not a cliche
    Kit Ciaco: Well, no wait
    Kit Ciaco: I'm ASSUMING!
    Korel Laloix: lol
Kit Ciaco: I haven't actually doncted a panty check....
    Korel Laloix: doncted?
    Kit Ciaco: conducted
    Kit Ciaco: with a twist
Korel Laloix: And what did you find?
Kit Ciaco: I don't know - I didn't actually DO the panty check....
druth Vlodovic: have to set up a stand "panty check, need statistical data for thesis"
Kit Ciaco: I felt that would be in bad form, you know what I mean?
Korel Laloix: I preffer the term knickers anyway.
    Kit Ciaco: LOL, druth!
Korel Laloix: SOunds like a plan.
Korel Laloix: I will help..... grins
    Kit Ciaco: Kickers - yes
Korel Laloix: Another great advantage to being a chick... we have far more choices for underthings.
druth Vlodovic: makes me think of women's boxers
Kit Ciaco: And, with reluctance, but only because of my selfless nature - I volunteer to help with the kiosk as well....
Korel Laloix: Heck no on that.... boi shorts.
Kit Ciaco: If we weren't still recordining I would give you my views on ladies in boxers....
    Korel Laloix: Oh do tell
druth Vlodovic: I can edit for PG
Kit Ciaco: Yes - but then the whole world would know that I wear boxers!
    Korel Laloix: lol
Kit Ciaco claps hands over her mouth!
    Kit Ciaco: LOL!
Korel Laloix: I own a couple of pairs I admit.
Korel Laloix: But I use them more like PJs.
Kit Ciaco: well, it's better than a thong
Kit Ciaco: though I have to say - I have never worn a thong....
Kit Ciaco: so again, I speak of that which I know not....
Korel Laloix: lol... my grandma refuses to do my laundry because of my knickers... wich is OK with me.
Korel Laloix: I am tring out some c-strings.
druth Vlodovic: our chart is coming along nicely, do the boys want to contribute?
Korel Laloix: Odd feeling, but I can see the draw.
Kit Ciaco: Well, we have a strong rule in our house - only ONE rule - everyone washes their own knickers!
Korel Laloix: Probably a good choice.
    Korel Laloix: lol
    --BELL--
Korel Laloix: I do admit, doing laundry for grandma is sometimes a bit of a trial.
Korel Laloix: But am happy to do so.
Kit Ciaco: I should love to do my granny's laundry for her....
Korel Laloix: I said happy... not love.... lol
Kit Ciaco: I know - for me - both
    Kit Ciaco: sigh....
Korel Laloix: OH the lecture I got the first time she saw me in a thong. lmbo
Kit Ciaco: I am happy to report that my granny never saw me in a thong....
Korel Laloix: Trust me... it is much much better that way.
Kit Ciaco: I can only imagine!
druth Vlodovic: I hesitate to ask how it came about that your grandma saw you in a thong
Kit Ciaco: What would have been worse is if I had ever caught HER in a thong
Korel Laloix: Please pass the mind bleach.
Kit Ciaco: LOL - yes, druth - please Korel - share....
Korel Laloix: I know my nightmare themes for the nxt month now.
Kit Ciaco: On the other hand - she was a flapper in the 20's.....
    Kit Ciaco: hmmmmmm
Korel Laloix: Flapper.. what does that mean?
Korel Laloix: Heard it used earlier this week as well.
Kit Ciaco: It's ummmm - well, she was a wild thing
Korel Laloix: OH.. found a wiki on it... tanks.
    Korel Laloix: wow.. tacky.
    Kit Ciaco: OH????
Korel Laloix: But I am sure great at that ime.
    Korel Laloix: time
druth Vlodovic: ah, I've got to go, I'm not sure if t's safe to leave the recorder in your hands or not...
    Korel Laloix: lol
    Kit Ciaco: LOL!!!!!
    Kit Ciaco: I shall behave
    Korel Laloix: Probably not.
Kit Ciaco: I'm not sure if I shall behave well or poorly - but I SHALL behave....
druth Vlodovic: nonethelss, I'll take the risk, have fun :)
    Kit Ciaco: ;)
    Korel Laloix: ciao bella
    oO0Oo Resident: ntsy Druth
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Korel Laloix: How does one shape a flute Kit?
Kit Ciaco: Well, each flute maker/shaper has their own little nuances
Kit Ciaco: Most folks use some electrical tools
Kit Ciaco: I use only hand tools
Korel Laloix: WHat do you make them out of?
Kit Ciaco: Probably over half of them use blanks, which I use
Kit Ciaco: and then I shape the blanks and tune them
    Kit Ciaco: mostly cedar
Kit Ciaco: a good solid dependable wood
Korel Laloix: INteresting... lovely color and smell that way at least.
Kit Ciaco: plus I have strong spiritual ties to cedar
Korel Laloix: Please tell me about that.
Kit Ciaco: each one has its own grain with unique colorsings and markings
    Kit Ciaco: very lovely
Kit Ciaco: Well, some of it is history
Korel Laloix: It is.. and lovely scent.
Kit Ciaco: I once owned a cedar grove that held alot of magic for me
Korel Laloix: wow...that does sounds great.
Korel Laloix: I connect more with open grassland than forest.
Kit Ciaco: And they are natural to my region, my ome
Korel Laloix: But that is just me and my spiritual path.
Kit Ciaco: yes, that's what I mean! Home
    Kit Ciaco: Exacly!
Kit Ciaco: I lived many years in places other than home
Kit Ciaco: and coming home has been a profound spiritual movement for me
Korel Laloix: I love to sit in nice tall grasses over sitting near trees.
    Kit Ciaco: yes!
    Kit Ciaco: lovely!
Korel Laloix: May I ask where home is for your?
Kit Ciaco: The land of Kentuck
Korel Laloix: Visited Morehead State Univ a while back.
Korel Laloix: Seemed a nice place.
    Kit Ciaco: Really!
Kit Ciaco: KY has three main geographicl regions
Korel Laloix: Long story.. just one college that wa a possibility.
    --BELL--
Kit Ciaco: the mountains, the rolling hills, and the upper part of the delta
Kit Ciaco: Each one has its special charm - just like people.... Now, my family is gathering together for our evening. Thank ya'll for your time and shared wisdom!
Korel Laloix: Time to start closing down the office...
    Korel Laloix: Ciao
