The Guardian for this very fun meeting which began with roles, moved onto hooks, and ended with a concert, was Eliza Madrigal.
The few comments are by Eliza Madrigal who also has pictures to add a bit later. :)

The title comes from a quote sometimes shared by Pema and others:

"It is disinterestedness that liberates. Don't hold on, that is all. The world is made of rings. The hooks are all yours. Make straight your hooks and nothing can hold you. Give up your addictions and the freedom of the universe is yours. Be effortless." Nisargadatta

Yakuzza Lethecus: before this session i was thinking of the roleplaying of ourselves
    Eliza Madrigal listens
Riddle Sideways: eliz, hope that does not hurt you feelings that all leave your session
Eliza Madrigal: :) Not at all Riddle, but thanks for asking
Yakuzza Lethecus: in how far i have expectations of things to be happening which ill do when i come for example from work
Yakuzza Lethecus: in how far will i participate
Yakuzza Lethecus: in how far will i learn something or not, how to trick myself into not having expectations and crating selffullfilling structures
    Riddle Sideways: role playing?
Yakuzza Lethecus: the role of our own
Riddle Sideways: you play this role of over expecting
Yakuzza Lethecus: i mean we have one for ourselves and for others i believe
    Zen Arado: expectations hurt
    Riddle Sideways: yes, we do
    Zen Arado: if not fulfilled
Eliza Madrigal: interesting that you notice this though Yaku... how our putting ourselves in roles causes us to put others in roles...
Yakuzza Lethecus: riddle: you represent my thoughts on determinism, singularity fears, computational augmentation
Eliza Madrigal: and it works the other way as well
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Observm :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hello observerm
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eos :))

Zen Arado: so drop expectations - but not so easy

Riddle Sideways: hi Eos and nice slippers
    Zen Arado: Hi Eos
Eliza Madrigal: ty... year of the rabbit after all
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Zen, Yak, Eliza
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hello eos
Zen Arado: wait and see what happens

    Eliza Madrigal: !!!
Eliza Madrigal: LOVE that look Riddle
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey sun
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey boxy
    Eliza Madrigal giggling wildly
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Alf
Zen Arado: old age helps because you see how often expectations are thwarted
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Alfred and Sun :)
    Eos Amaterasu: Riddle
Zen Arado: Hi Alf and Sun
    Zen Arado: :)
    Riddle Sideways: Hi sun
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Zen ;)
Eliza Madrigal: if we're not careful we miss appreciation of roles in our noticing of their limitations
    Riddle Sideways: oo hi alf
    Sunshine Vayandar: ops
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;p
Zen Arado: appreciate what's er now

Yakuzza Lethecus: i sometimes wonder, if we step out of our own role is there a threshhold from which point others will also see us losing our role for a moment ?

    Sunshine Vayandar: sorry eos
Eliza Madrigal: I've noticed lately... how some have gifts that 'show up' when they step into a role
Yakuzza Lethecus: it´s so comfortable leave other ppl in their roles as well
    Riddle Sideways: depends yak
Eliza Madrigal: which may or may not be apparent or 'in play' in the same way at other times
Alfred Kelberry: oh, lots of people :)
Zen Arado: allow them to expand is better
    Eliza Madrigal nods
    Alfred Kelberry: hi
    Eliza Madrigal: Make room :)
Zen Arado: not confine them to the way we want them to be

Riddle Sideways: hey Alf, I thought about your email / youtube link
    Alfred Kelberry: meep!
Eliza Madrigal: :) Riddle... you're really having fun with all this

    Eliza Madrigal: oooo hears music...
    Alfred Kelberry: meep-meep!
Eliza Madrigal: well the way we think we want them to be... @ Zen
Riddle Sideways: Alice went shopping and brought me this
Riddle Sideways: hey... no pushing here
    Alfred Kelberry: cute android :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
    Alfred Kelberry: elephant is inside
Riddle Sideways: sorry yak is trying to be seriuss
    Alfred Kelberry: oh
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Alfred Kelberry: *makes a serious face and not laughing*
Yakuzza Lethecus: no i hope that you won´t advertise yourself like in the youtube video :)
Zen Arado: hard to be, here:)
Riddle Sideways: I just slipped into a diff role play
Zen Arado: to be serious I mean
Sunshine Vayandar: very difficult to be serious under the circumstances
Alfred Kelberry: i should make an android av

Eliza Madrigal: :) the visitor to the last session said we were serious people exploring fun... something like that....
Zen Arado: frowns - need a banana
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Zen Arado: (in joke)
Alfred Kelberry: or fun people exploring serious? :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Riddle Sideways likes purple
    Yakuzza Lethecus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-O3E-XKSu4
Yakuzza Lethecus: that´s the ,,korean commercial"
Riddle Sideways: but like all youTubes "ya can't watch just one"
    Alfred Kelberry: oops, eliza!
Yakuzza Lethecus: guess half of the ppl have seen it
Alfred Kelberry: i don't see your eyes
Riddle Sideways: the follow ups are even better

Eliza Madrigal: one thing noticed in retreats, is though one lets the person they meet out of the box of role as "bunny" or "box", they still see that aspect
    Zen Arado: ty Vayander :)
    Zen Arado: needed that
    Sunshine Vayandar: yw ;)
    Zen Arado: refrigerator was empty
    Eliza Madrigal grins
Sunshine Vayandar: we have a lot here at bottom of planet
Alfred Kelberry: come one, riddle. let's take a tiny seat.

    Eliza Madrigal: pause approaching
    Zen Arado: contemplates banana
Eliza Madrigal: so fingers type fast
Alfred Kelberry: quick, eliza, say something!
Eos Amaterasu: person as potential for many roles
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)

    --BELL--

    Alfred Kelberry: :P
    Alfred Kelberry: :)

    (end bell)

    Eliza Madrigal smacks boxy
    Eliza Madrigal: heh
Alfred Kelberry: ok, we can breath now
    Alfred Kelberry: :P
    Sunshine Vayandar: hehe
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Riddle Sideways: we switch roles too fast for others to follow
    Sunshine Vayandar: innn outtt
Eliza Madrigal: lose a beat, Riddle?
Zen Arado: dom, sub or switch?
Alfred Kelberry: riddle, you're still the same

Eliza Madrigal: Yaku (yakuzza.lethecus): i sometimes wonder, if we step out of our own role is there a threshhold from which point others will also see us loosing our role for a moment ?

    Alfred Kelberry: losing our role?
Riddle Sideways: you may have switched your role play character several times and boxy is stuck thinking you are still yak
Zen Arado: they won't notice probably Eliza
Alfred Kelberry: they will if you get fired
Zen Arado: you are firmly categorized
Eliza Madrigal: there can be a 'startle' of a pause... of real quiet... a way that doesn't make sense and yet is real
    Eliza Madrigal: disorienting
Riddle Sideways: ah then there is a threshold
Zen Arado: we do that so early to people too?
Riddle Sideways: go to far... go to jail
Eliza Madrigal: and it is a question that then is forever in play... if that (thinking?) wasn't 'me' what am I?
Eos Amaterasu: mabye what we share is in between our roles
Zen Arado: what are we without the roles?
    Eos Amaterasu: cornucopia of roles
    Zen Arado: fearful prospect

Eliza Madrigal nods @ Eos... we were pondering haiku in that light... in the time session....
    Riddle Sideways: we are Being
    Eliza Madrigal: so few words
Eos Amaterasu: pandora's box :-( maybe
Alfred Kelberry: *pats zen* shh... it'll be fine :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Sunshine Vayandar: I think when we travel - and walk on the streets of some far away land ....suddenly there is that feeling .... that I have no roles
Zen Arado: roleless and abandoned :(
Eliza Madrigal: mmm, good example Sun
Eos Amaterasu: our ability to interact changes, and so we feel uncertain
Eliza Madrigal: you're taken out of context perhaps
    Sunshine Vayandar: talking from experience
Alfred Kelberry: sun, it's a tourist role :)
Zen Arado: yes it could be good too
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;p
Sunshine Vayandar: not really - I am not a tourist for example
Zen Arado: like when I used to hitchhike around Australia alone
    Alfred Kelberry: alone!
Zen Arado: didn't feel the need to be anybody in particular
    Alfred Kelberry: tough guy
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Eos Amaterasu: stranger in a strange land - even stranger to ourselves
Zen Arado: it was easier then
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Riddle Sideways: so very hard not to be in some role
Sunshine Vayandar: I just enjoyed all the new things around me

Eos Amaterasu: I could go to New York City and be *somebody*!

Eliza Madrigal: each person can be like that as well... if we really listen/pay attention... wide fields
Sunshine Vayandar: didn't worry about fitting in
    Alfred Kelberry: it's impossible
    Zen Arado: hitchhiker role though
Alfred Kelberry: there's always a role
    Sunshine Vayandar: hmm yes
    Eliza Madrigal: maybe not...
Eliza Madrigal: maybe the appearance of a role
Alfred Kelberry: there wouldn't be personality without roles
Riddle Sideways: BUT... as you switch from one role to another
Riddle Sideways: there is a transient state
    Zen Arado: no - I'm a dom :)
Riddle Sideways: some call it void
Riddle Sideways: some call it all
Eos Amaterasu: acting was part of Gurdjieffian practice
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
    Riddle Sideways: you are Being
    Alfred Kelberry: *zaps zen* :P
Zen Arado: can be sub too ?
Eliza Madrigal: :) "Being, not being this or that"
Alfred Kelberry: oh, void is a good one
Eos Amaterasu: exaggerate the role to realize it in fullness, and emptiness
    Alfred Kelberry: or null
Eliza Madrigal: Eos... so interesting, that!
    Eos Amaterasu: Madonna being Madonna
    Zen Arado: was it?

Sunshine Vayandar: i think it's good if we realise at least that it is just a role

Alfred Kelberry: whatever roles you take on you still follow a certain pattern
Alfred Kelberry: you try to be consistent

Zen Arado: we have to take roles that please others

Eos Amaterasu: and some roles, like being a parent, come with karmic hooks

Riddle Sideways: ha, whereever your role goes... there you are

Zen Arado: isn't that the main reason?
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: sounds familiar Riddle :)
    Alfred Kelberry: karmic hooks :)
    Riddle Sideways: buckaroo bonzi
    Sunshine Vayandar: karmic hooks hmm
Zen Arado: Jon Kabat Zinn role :)

Sunshine Vayandar: what is a karmic hook

Eos Amaterasu: Thomas a Kempis said it first (wherever you are, there you are....)

Riddle Sideways: your karmic hook has my dogma

Alfred Kelberry: riddle keeps being a riddle whatever role he's in :)
Riddle Sideways: that is a problem state you stuck me in
    Eos Amaterasu: just say friend
    Alfred Kelberry: :P
Zen Arado: looks for his karmic hooks and shrugs them off
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)

Eliza Madrigal: funny how hard it is to answer sun's question...
    Riddle Sideways: yes, it is
Alfred Kelberry: wait, what was the question? :)
Sunshine Vayandar: it just sounds interesting hmm
Sunshine Vayandar: what are karmic hooks
    Alfred Kelberry: ah...
    Eliza Madrigal: sticky places
Zen Arado: the bits of us others pull and upset us?
Eos Amaterasu: you are not separate.... can't escape interdependence
    Sunshine Vayandar: I am a zulu - I don't understand these things ;)
Alfred Kelberry: new level in a game
    Alfred Kelberry: more hazards
Zen Arado: as we practice the hooks grow smaller
Zen Arado: until - nothing to pull on
Eos Amaterasu: or our roles are on both sides of the hooks
    Alfred Kelberry: :)

    --BELL--

    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Riddle Sideways: so ? we have control over our Karma?
    Riddle Sideways: /help
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eos Amaterasu: we may have possibility to not further karma
Zen Arado: we produce it don't we Riddle?
Eliza Madrigal: "the foolish are trapped by karma while the wise are liberated by it"
    Zen Arado: good or bad
    Zen Arado: or dualistic
    Zen Arado: :)
    Zen Arado: or not
    Zen Arado: hmmmm
    Riddle Sideways: calm down
Eliza Madrigal: pema chodron talks about shempa (sp?) so what stings you is what you sting others with.... something like that?
    Zen Arado: :)
    Zen Arado: shenpa yes

Eos Amaterasu: all that we are is a result of what we have hooked
Zen Arado: have it on an audibook called 'Getting Unstuck'

Riddle Sideways: yes, looked it up last week
Yakuzza Lethecus: lol, perfect title for what i need :P
Zen Arado: could play it for anyone wants to hear it
Eliza Madrigal: once had a hook dream.... long long long needle being pulled from the bottom of my foot... til at last it just sort of flicked out....
    Zen Arado: I think anyway
    Eliza Madrigal: it took *forever*
    Eos Amaterasu: ouch!
Zen Arado: we make our own hooks dont we?
    Eliza Madrigal: yes, sheesh, hehe
    Zen Arado: even in dreams
Riddle Sideways: and the thread made we did

Eliza Madrigal: for later perhaps (has to be read):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hhFiSrsU6A&feature=player_embedded

Zen Arado: a hook is a word for attachment?
    Zen Arado: hooked
Riddle Sideways: need to go. that new AO/script/chat voice is bugging me
    Eliza Madrigal: think so...
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, Thanks for staying a while Riddle
    Zen Arado: bye Riddle
Eliza Madrigal: in all your aspects
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Riddle Sideways: bye and thanks all
    Eos Amaterasu: bye Android!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye riddle
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in an android

Zen Arado: some hooks are so hard to let go of (sigh)
Eliza Madrigal: what Sunshine described about going to a new place dropping roles is so interesting... there is this saying "a man is the room he is in" (saw it on an episode of Mad Men- heh)
Sunshine Vayandar: I think of that often
Zen Arado: when we make them we make them fit so well
    Eliza Madrigal: hmmm
Sunshine Vayandar: it's a good exercise to play with the roles
    Zen Arado: yes :)
    Eliza Madrigal: indeed
Eliza Madrigal: and to see if we can arrive 'anew'
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Eliza Madrigal: for me this has had a profound effect on family life
Eliza Madrigal: with where I supposedly 'came from' etc :)
Sunshine Vayandar: I think the more one travels the more these roles tend to drop - less important
Eos Amaterasu: playing as being mom?
Eliza Madrigal: mom yes, and also with my own.... greeting this person and all the history, no charge there, this is 'fresh'

Eliza Madrigal: we are new, this conversation doesn't have to go the 'same way'

    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Eliza Madrigal: then relief on both parts
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: holding that space and possibility
    Eos Amaterasu: momentarily no hooks
    Eliza Madrigal: yes!
Sunshine Vayandar: yes that is great

    Alfred Kelberry: oh, riddle quit
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Lugh
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Lugh
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Lugh ;)
    Zen Arado: Hi Ligh
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey lugh
Alfred Kelberry: btw, yaku, no one explained the meaning of that android commercial
Zen Arado: not sure what Lugh's role is :)
    Lugh Fehr: hellow :)
Sunshine Vayandar: very interesting role hmm
    Lugh Fehr: role?
Eliza Madrigal: holding it til it holds you... (space and opportunity)
    Zen Arado: a violet Socrates?

Eliza Madrigal: hmmm... yes what does this look/presentation/appearance conjur
    Sunshine Vayandar: hehe
    Eliza Madrigal: conjure
Lugh Fehr: im a druid :)
    Zen Arado: ah ok
    Eliza Madrigal: reading runes?
Zen Arado: that explains it :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: no socrates then
    Eos Amaterasu: Andruid
Lugh Fehr: .... a ... voilet druid anyway
    Eliza Madrigal: heheheh Eos
Zen Arado: should have known :)

    --BELL--

Alfred Kelberry: question: what's the art project stormy currently working on?
Eliza Madrigal: not sure Alf, something new?
Zen Arado: reminds me I haven't done mine yet

Eliza Madrigal: we have Art as Being this weekend though... look forward to seeing how people have played with roles of self... which is wearing which, etc
Sunshine Vayandar: what is Art as Being Eliza?
Zen Arado: the play as being self project Alf?
Eliza Madrigal: Bleu has organized several art exhibits based on discussions here...
    Alfred Kelberry: i don't know
Eliza Madrigal: the latest is about 'self'
Zen Arado: art as being self I mean
    Sunshine Vayandar: kk
Eliza Madrigal: and avatars and actually.. roles in the way we've been discussing
    Alfred Kelberry: ok, self then
Eliza Madrigal: this time we've been at it for a month, but people are slow to display
    Eliza Madrigal: including myself :)
Alfred Kelberry: when is the opening day?
    Eliza Madrigal: Sunday, Alf
Zen Arado: I had a lot to write
    Alfred Kelberry: on self, zen?
Eliza Madrigal: looking forward to yours Zen :)
Zen Arado: on playing as Jan mostly
Zen Arado: just a simple photo with it

Eliza Madrigal: when we try on someone 'else' maybe we begin to see what qualities are fixed and which are open
Zen Arado: I find them changing
Eliza Madrigal: if we take it seriously :)
Sunshine Vayandar: try on someone else ;p
    Eliza Madrigal: :D
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, let's switch and find out :)
Zen Arado: or my view changing anyway
Sunshine Vayandar: I would like to try Bob Marley
    Alfred Kelberry: i'll be eliza
Zen Arado: and why not Sun?
Sunshine Vayandar: yes why not ;)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Sunshine Vayandar: yes I want to be Eliza too
Eos Amaterasu: yes, lively up yourself, Sun :-)
Eliza Madrigal: I've already tried ALf on... giggles...
Alfred Kelberry: i'm not wearing those slippers though :)
Eliza Madrigal: (have played as boxy)
    Sunshine Vayandar: yamaan
Zen Arado: Eliza is pretty hard to be :)
Eliza Madrigal: tell me about it
    Sunshine Vayandar: hehe
    Zen Arado: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hahaha
    Eliza Madrigal: uh oh
    Lugh Fehr: oh my
Alfred Kelberry: yes, she has a nice language :)

Eliza Madrigal: Yaku feels we haven't answered his questions sufficiently I think
Eos Amaterasu: Yak is a first person shooter
Alfred Kelberry: yaku in his usual role :)
    Alfred Kelberry: 007
    Eliza Madrigal hears music
    Eos Amaterasu: on the rocks
    Lugh Fehr: men in black
    Zen Arado: exterminate
Eliza Madrigal: ooo music on the rocks

Eliza Madrigal: what time again tomorrow Sun? for your performance??
Zen Arado: oh a banana :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: actually the little android before reminded me also on the darleks
